Episode Transcript
[00:00:06] Speaker A: Welcome to another episode of Source from the Sofa podcast. I'm Rome. We got Jason and Aaron in studio tonight recording from the respective places.
Recording after Thursday Night Football. A really good game. Probably one of the better ones of the season. I didn't watch the other one because I was just half. I was half asleep. Let's be honest. If you guys caught that episode, I missed the whole thing against, what was it, Atlanta Falcons and the Bucks.
Game one of that two game series. But this one was exciting.
Unfortunately these. Both these quarterbacks are in my division with the Steelers, so it's kind of rough. But I do generally like Lamar Jackson. Wishing the best. And then I'm a big fan of Joe Burrow. Haven't been really shy about that and kind of bullish on them still making the playoffs. But you guys knocked them out two weeks ago. Said it was not happening. When we cross off teams, it was jets and the Bengals and we knocked off a whole bunch of the teams, but then they won. They look, they, they still look good. They can score. Burrows playing great.
I still think Taylor might be low key on the hot seat right now. I think they should fire him at the end of the season. Burrows, the only elite quarterback without a good coach. If you break it down, I mean.
[00:01:22] Speaker B: He did get to a Super bowl in a AFC Conference championship game. I get no to say he's a bad coach or not a lot of.
[00:01:32] Speaker C: That, Not a lot of people have done that. Rome.
[00:01:35] Speaker A: No, I don't think it's good.
[00:01:39] Speaker C: He doesn't think he's good. But we get a text from Rome halfway through this game on how wrong Aaron and I were about pronouncing the Bengals dead a couple weeks ago and they end up losing.
[00:01:49] Speaker A: But you still think they're dead.
[00:01:51] Speaker C: You don't think they're dead, but you also think their coach isn't good.
[00:01:54] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I think so.
[00:01:55] Speaker C: If they come back from this, the coach would be really good then.
[00:01:58] Speaker A: No, no, I still think they should fire him.
[00:02:00] Speaker B: So they're winning in spite of Zach Taylor's what you're saying?
[00:02:04] Speaker A: Yeah, they got Joe, bro. They're not winning at all.
[00:02:07] Speaker C: I would argue they're not. They're not winning without Chase had an all time fantasy night tonight.
[00:02:16] Speaker A: That was a great night. Who gave it to him?
Who laid those balls in his hands softly like supple little gifts?
[00:02:24] Speaker B: You do. You do gotta get open so the balls can get thrown in there softly.
There's, you know, there's a lot of components.
[00:02:32] Speaker A: Some of those shows are pretty tight. Man, those are pretty tight.
Your Rogers couldn't get it in.
Anyways, tough game.
[00:02:42] Speaker B: I don't know, man. He. He hit his boy Adams to finish that game off last week after missing him on one.
[00:02:47] Speaker A: So it took eight weeks. But yeah, you know, after all the criticism though, for all these teams on the road for tying up the game, going to overtime, Aaron, you've been pretty vocal about that. We talked about it. Finally we had someone on the road on the ropes. They score a touchdown to tie it back up. Or they could have tied it back up. Right. Kicked a field goal to send overtime. But they go for two unsuccessful.
And that's the game. Otherwise it's a fun shootout. Two games with those two teams this year they scored, what was it, 150 points or pretty close to it. Really tough loss for the Bengals.
Now they are what, three and six, four and six. Four and six.
[00:03:32] Speaker B: And with the Chargers coming up.
[00:03:35] Speaker A: With the Chargers coming in. Yeah, another tough defense and now the ravens are 7 and 3, sitting atop of that division with the Steelers.
Comments?
[00:03:51] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, going back to going for the two point conversion, I agree. Baltimore had scored on four straight possessions there and Cincinnati wasn't going to stop them, obviously. You know, I thought the Bengals, I mean, I thought the Ravens came out to start the game kind of lifeless. They didn't have any energy. Yeah, you know, they look great. On Sunday against the Broncos, dropped 41 on them, scored seven straight possessions. This game they seem flat and Cincinnati was in control 217 until Brown, you know, fumbled at his own 30, 35 yard line. Ravens capitalized on that, scored right away really quick.
[00:04:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:32] Speaker B: Got a three and out. And then, you know, lazy defense leads to a Wallace, you know, 84 yard TD grab down the sideline. Yeah, I mean, that shouldn't happen. No Tucker of the missed extra point, you don't see that. That was his seventh miss extra point out of like almost 600 attempts. So that was rare. Maybe it seemed like the Bengals were going to get the game, but I mean, for me, the Bengals, every game this year seems like a shootout.
You know, their defense has let them down more times than not. I mean, how. I'm curious. I'm not gonna. I might have to look it up. How many times somebody's dropped 30 plus points on them in 10 games this year? I want to say at least six times they've had 30 plus points dropped on them.
And the highest scoring game of the year was against the Ravens.
5, 5, 5 and, and then obviously.
[00:05:25] Speaker C: 26 to the Chiefs. Chiefs at that one point and then 21.
[00:05:33] Speaker A: No.
[00:05:35] Speaker C: Yeah. So the Chiefs game was probably the next one up at that.
[00:05:38] Speaker B: So in the Chiefs outside of this game, coming up this first time, I think they scored 30 points all year against, when they scored 30 against the Buccaneers. So for me, yeah, the Bengals, their defense isn't what it used to be. That's where they're really struggling offensively. They're pinning up big numbers. You know, Burrow with 428 yards, Jamar Chase, 264. They're out there. Number two, T. Higgins.
[00:06:04] Speaker A: Amazing.
[00:06:06] Speaker B: But I think for me, Cincinnati not having that running game. Joe Mixon, we haven't really brought him up. You know, he went to Houston. That's helped them out a lot. They don't really have a running game to kind of control the clock, keep their defense off the field. It seems like every time they score, it's like three, four plays. Their defense is right back out there giving up points.
[00:06:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm just looking at the rest of the division.
[00:06:31] Speaker C: To go to, to give counterpoint. While Aaron and I had already pronounced them dead to a degree for the rest of the season, I think I'm pretty sure we brought this up last week or the week before too. They do have a favorable schedule to a degree, because they're gonna play a pretty good Chargers team, but they've lost some talent. But they're well coached and Harbaugh's got them playing. But the two hardest games that they have left is against the Steelers, the intra division, because they're going to play a bad Cowboys team, a bad Titans team, a bad Browns team, and at least for me, an overrated Broncos team. So far. It's like into the end of the season.
[00:07:10] Speaker A: Overrated, huh?
[00:07:11] Speaker C: I. I mean, they've been successful, but like this, this isn't supposed to be a team that should have won as many games, I think so I don't think it's that difficult of a game for the Bengals. So if, if they could, I think they would need to. They could only lose probably one more game. 10 and 7, I think is probably the basement to make the playoffs in the afc maybe.
[00:07:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree. The game for them is the Chargers. They should beat the Chargers. I would take them over the Chargers, but I agree with Jason likely split with Pittsburgh. Losing against the Chargers would pit them at eight losses and nine and eight to get in the playoffs is a real tough task. 10, 10 is a magic number.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: It's possible looking at the way, because.
[00:08:00] Speaker B: If the Charger beat them, then the Chargers are going to get that wild card spot from them. Yeah, the Chargers should beat the Titans this week to go to 6 and 3 and then if they beat them, go 7 and 3, the Bengals aren't over overleaping them. It's not gonna happen.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, that's it. Basically.
Tough stretch, man, and I'm pretty sure they'll probably split one of those with the Steelers, but yeah, tough, tough loss for the Bengals. Big win for the Ravens.
We'll see how the Steelers do this weekend.
Let's go to. Let's. Let's go do some lines. We didn't get a chance to do any last week and skipped a week.
[00:08:43] Speaker C: Of Thursday lines, man.
[00:08:45] Speaker A: And my nose is itching so.
[00:08:49] Speaker B: Beautiful.
[00:08:50] Speaker A: Beautiful.
[00:08:51] Speaker C: They bet they banned me from Thursday lines after I went 1 in 4 two weeks ago.
[00:08:55] Speaker B: So, yeah, I. We had some people call and they said they wanted Jason to go back to Georgia. He's a lot better picking over there than he is in his own home.
[00:09:02] Speaker C: 100% picks are better in Georgia. The Bears were better when I was in Georgia, so.
[00:09:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I saw your little Instagram post. You said you might move out there.
[00:09:11] Speaker C: I mean, Bears are three and oh, when I spent some time In Georgia, they are.02 since I returned from Georgia.
[00:09:17] Speaker A: Might as well, man. I'm surprised you didn't come back with a little.
With a little Georgia swag.
Nice qb.
[00:09:26] Speaker C: Nah, I never left Chicago with a Chicago accent from what people say. So I don't think I can adapt to any Georgia swag.
[00:09:33] Speaker A: You know, I don't know too many people with actually a Chicago accent from Chicago. That's the weirdest fucking thing.
[00:09:39] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, you'll.
I know the, the one. If you ever watch like the fugitive and the cops that are the fugitive, they give that, that thick Chicago accent inside there like you could, you could hear it at that.
[00:09:52] Speaker B: But yeah, I can picture it right now that you brought it up. I can hear it in my ear like, oh, I'm gonna have to YouTube it just to get it back into me.
[00:10:01] Speaker A: Really funny, man. All right, let's do some lines. We are back overseas in Munich with a much anticipated game. Big time game here. Two powerhouses, two quarterbacks.
[00:10:14] Speaker C: We always send London our best games, man. Yeah, no, and I'm sorry, this is Germany.
[00:10:19] Speaker A: Yeah. It's gonna be fire. They might start another World War III after this one. Giants quote unquote, visiting Carolina. They're both two and seven.
You know, I know, I know we, we crossed the Giants off, but you know, they're still kind of competitive. They're so weird. I don't think their coach gets fired by the way. That's just my, you know, my take by the end of the year. But Giants favorite six and a half over under 40 and a half. We are going by MGM bet lines tonight.
I know Young played a little bit better last week. Looked like he had a little more confidence and same thing with Daniel Jones.
This is a pick of my. I, I don't bet on overseas games. I think I already said this weeks ago. It's on YouTube for me right now.
[00:11:09] Speaker C: I think this line started at minus 5 in the Giants and now it's all the way up to six and a half. I'm taking the Panthers plus six and a half right now. That's a lot of points to be given. The Giants Panthers were better last week. You know, came the comeback of the Saints. Bryce Young, you know, did fairly well in his return to the starting role. But to me that's a lot of points. On like you said, overseas games, offense is definitely generally harder to find and for these two teams, offense is hard to find generally no matter where you're playing the game. So I think it's a lower scoring game. And six and a half. Just a lot of points that I take the Panthers.
[00:11:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I've seen the line Monday, four and a half, five really like the Giants. Love the Giants at that number at six and a half. I still like the Giants at six and a half. Giants got a good defense. Daniel Jones, neighbors. I think they'll hook up.
They'll have a good game.
Bryce Young, back to back good games. I don't see it happening. They just traded another wide receiver away to the Cowboys.
[00:12:12] Speaker A: Oh, man.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: Adam Feland still out for. Not a lot of weapons to go with. We know the Giants, they play hard. They just haven't been able to finish games. Gave Washington to run for their money last week.
It scares me that the game's in Munich, but I like the Giants here and I like them by double digits.
[00:12:28] Speaker A: Why does that scare you?
[00:12:31] Speaker B: Just like you mentioned, you know, travel, overseas games, going there, it takes time. But I, I really do like the Giants this week a lot.
[00:12:43] Speaker A: Yeah, that'd be what I would be leading towards. Typing up some stuff here. Next game, morning games. New England visits Jason's beloved Chicago Bears. Bears are favored by six over under.
Depending on where it is. I'm getting two numbers right here. 38 and a half and 39.
[00:13:06] Speaker C: I've seen 38 and a half.
[00:13:09] Speaker A: Okay, let's go with that three and a half, man.
[00:13:11] Speaker C: This is a lot of points to give the Bears for a team that can't play offense. For the most part, yeah, the Bears win this game, but I don't have much confidence that they could cover the six.
I don't know.
[00:13:35] Speaker B: Jason. Speechless on the Bears, man. You got to highlight that. That's a, that's a first here on the podium. Bears, they give a. I'm not high on them coming into this game.
[00:13:45] Speaker C: You're almost speechless on it.
[00:13:47] Speaker B: I, I actually like them to cover just because I think the defense is going to show up. Drake May, they're going to get after him. And the Bears, correct me if I'm wrong, Jason, but they are undefeated at home this year.
Yep, they got that going. They got that going for them.
And the Patriots just don't really have any weapons offensively really to scare these guys. We know they're going to run the ball. Drake Mays can run.
I see Drake May having a long day. I think he's going to fumble the ball two or three times. Maybe offer just strip sacks. A couple turnovers could be the difference. Special teams, I like the Bears. I like them to cover here too.
[00:14:30] Speaker A: Man.
[00:14:30] Speaker C: I'll reluctantly agree with Aaron on this one.
[00:14:33] Speaker A: Yeah, this one's kind of tough.
Kayla Williams has a show out this week.
Kind of regressed the last two. The offenses look stagnant. They came out of the bye week.
Bears still in hibernation basically and they looked asleep since that week. And Jason, your team needs this but again, your Bears scary, man. Because I do like Drake. Maybe I really like him as a quarterback, but that team sucks. Our coach sucks.
I'm gonna just go with the under. I'm gonna go with the under here. I don't know. I'll be rooting for the Bears, but this is. Stay away from me as well. But I'll take the under at 38 and a half.
Next game, Buffalo visits Indiana. Indiana is a pretty gritty team.
They got two guys on their, on the. On the defensive side that are leading the league in tackles and pressure, which is pretty impressive. Buffalo slight favorites three and a half over. Under is 47 and a half.
[00:15:40] Speaker C: To me this is one of these games where it feels so obvious that something's wrong with it. I would. I think the Bill's in a heartbeat. Minus 4 right now. This is a. To me it's a much superior team than the Colts. The Colts are still trying to find themselves offensively on a week to week basis. The Bills, you know, had tight game last week, but they went across country and blew out Seattle. Took care of business against Tennessee the week before that.
I, I think that the Bills are like cooking on all cylinders right now and I don't think the Colts are really in their league.
But again, with that line, it feels like I'm going to be totally wrong in this and they're going to keep it close. But to me it just seems very obvious.
[00:16:20] Speaker B: For the Bills minus four, I'm going the opposite. Upset of the week. Colts beat the Bills. Coleslaw terrible last week on the road against Minnesota. Tough defense. They threw Joe Flacco out there. You know, people are maybe saying, you know how bad he looked. They got no spark to score no offensive touchdowns. Buffalo's a bit banged up on defense. Keon Coleman out. Expect Jonathan Taylor to have a big game against a weak Buffalo run defense. They'll control the clock. They'll be able to contain the outside wide receiver to possible Cooper and Coleman out. I like the Colts at home. I like them in the upset. Plus four.
[00:16:57] Speaker A: This is a dangerous game, man. It's a dangerous game. Even that over, under.
I think it's gonna be under on this one. I think it's gonna be kind of a wishy washy on both sides, man. I'll come back to this one.
[00:17:18] Speaker C: Whatever Rome says he's gonna come back to this one. We never talk about it again.
In the recap when he tells us we're wrong, he's like, yeah, I stayed away from this one.
Privileges of the host.
[00:17:34] Speaker A: I, I'm a lot of stay away, you guys. A lot of stay away from games. There's just certain games like, well, I'll.
[00:17:39] Speaker B: Give you a pick on every game.
[00:17:40] Speaker C: Yeah, what's, what's the fun in that, man? Entertainment and purposes only here, you know.
[00:17:44] Speaker B: I mean, you, you can. Basically what we do is you could pick a side and then you would say, I wouldn't bet that game, but this is what the side it would take. Or you would say, hey, if I was betting for sure I'd be taking this side.
I mean, you like the under, so what is it, what is the over under again? 42, 41, 47 and a half.
[00:18:03] Speaker A: Yeah, it's huge to me.
[00:18:04] Speaker C: To me, it's. That screams under to me. That's a big number.
[00:18:08] Speaker B: It feels like a 24, 21 type game. I would lean towards the under two.
[00:18:13] Speaker A: Indiana's defense is really actually pretty good. So I think they're going to show up, kind of make up for what they've had And I think Buffalo can afford a loss. I'm always going to be rooting for Josh Allen. I like Indiana. If it was Richardson playing, it'll be different, but you know, could care less.
[00:18:29] Speaker C: Minor correction. They're the Indianapolis Colts. They don't, they don't represent the entire state of Indiana.
[00:18:34] Speaker A: Yeah, whatever. All right.
[00:18:37] Speaker B: They get, they get a win on Sunday. They might.
[00:18:40] Speaker C: We're not, we're not, we're not doing the Illinois Bears or the California 49ers.
[00:18:45] Speaker A: All right.
The Midwest representing here with Jason Aldine. Buffalo though, the number one quarterback in the league. I think. You guys done? Minnesota visits Jacksonville. The vikings favored by seven points over under 44 and a half.
Minnesota's looked kind of shaky the last two weeks, but they've managed to, you know, get, get away with a few victories.
Who's playing quarterback for Jacksonville right now?
[00:19:16] Speaker C: Trevor Lawrence.
[00:19:18] Speaker B: He is banged up, so I think he is questionable.
[00:19:22] Speaker A: I thought he might sit out for some reason.
[00:19:25] Speaker B: Yeah, he might. The line, the line jumped two points here in the last couple days. So I think they are anticipating half. Yeah, it was like five last minutes up to seven. So I think they are anticipating Mac Jones possibly playing.
[00:19:38] Speaker A: Oh, Mac Jones.
What do you guys got?
[00:19:44] Speaker C: Teams still like a lot of points to me.
You gotta go all the way back to their win versus Houston for the Vikings to have a bigger than a seven point win at this point.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: I think Jacksonville covers.
[00:20:02] Speaker C: So. Yeah, it feels like a Jacksonville cover at 7 even with Mac Jones playing.
[00:20:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I tend to agree. I mean, I love the Vikings at 4 or 5.
I mean, you know, they're going to bring so much pressure and Mac Jones can't run similar to Joe Flacco can't run really. But Jacksonville is really banged up. You know, Christian Kirk out for the season.
You know, Thomas Juniors, he's got a. He's banged up. He'll play.
ETN is. He's been banged up.
It's a tough team to prepare for that defense with the Vikings. But seven points as a home dog, that's a lot.
I, I would probably say take Jacksonville +7, but the Vikings are going to win this game.
[00:20:48] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm just saying Jacksonville because they've been pretty competitive in every game. You know, they're 2 and 7, but they've been in a lot of these games.
[00:20:55] Speaker B: 2 and 7. I think six of the seven losses have been by one score or less. Yeah, only blowout was to Jason's Bears over there in London.
[00:21:03] Speaker C: They got blown out by the Bills too, but okay.
[00:21:06] Speaker B: Oh, but yeah, we forgot about that double header on Monday night.
[00:21:12] Speaker A: I think that's when you're in Vegas, right, Aaron?
[00:21:17] Speaker B: Maybe one of those weeks, one of those.
[00:21:21] Speaker A: Next game.
Denver visiting Kansas City Chiefs. The 8 and O Kansas City Chiefs.
I just hate seeing their record.
I got 41 and a half and 42. Which one do you guys want to go by on the over 42? 42.
I. I typically go against the Chiefs every single week. I'm obviously 0 and 8 on that one for the year, I think. But I don't really trust Denver to break that streak.
This might be the first time I don't trust a team to actually pull the upset.
[00:22:01] Speaker C: I think the Chiefs win the game, but plus eight right now for Denver. The Chiefs offensively do just enough to get by every week. And I, I don't think this is any different this week if they win the game. But take the Broncos plus eight.
[00:22:19] Speaker B: Yeah, Broncos plus eight looks juicy. They look terrible last week against Baltimore when they got blown out.
Chiefs offensively, like Jason said, nothing to be, you know, excited about. But you know, the D hop Pat Mahomes, that, that looked a little sweet. Looked a little juicy on Monday. Looked like they were getting that connection going. Denver does have a top five defense coming in.
[00:22:43] Speaker A: Defense.
[00:22:44] Speaker B: It's a lot.
I want to take a side in this game, but the Chiefs will get to knock.
[00:22:48] Speaker A: Great. That's great news. It's really good news.
Atlanta visiting New Orleans Saints. New Orleans Saints land a favorite by three and a half and I have the over under 46 and a half.
[00:23:03] Speaker B: What's your pick, man?
[00:23:06] Speaker A: I got Atlanta.
There's no way in hell Saints are doing anything actually. What is the record when a fight, when a coach gets fired and like an interim takes over for. It's really pretty good, right?
I just don't. I just don't see it. With the Saints. Who's taking over the special teams coach?
[00:23:28] Speaker C: I don't even know.
[00:23:29] Speaker B: I. I don't know.
I do know what interim coaches are owing one in their debuts this year. I do know that.
[00:23:37] Speaker A: Ah, me.
[00:23:41] Speaker C: I'd go with the Falcons too. I think it's. It feels like an easy win. Even at even F minus 4.
[00:23:47] Speaker B: Yeah, it feels like an easy win. These teams played, you know, back in week five. It was a 26, 24 Falcons win. Drake London. That worries me. He may not play. A lobby is obviously out for the Saints, but like you said, a coach got fired. Home game.
I. I'll take the Saints to cover three and a half. They lose this game by less than three or less.
[00:24:12] Speaker A: Really?
[00:24:12] Speaker B: Yeah, I, I, I would, I wouldn't bet it, but I'll side with that. They, they'll come out inspired. Football.
It's a new coach, new motivation.
[00:24:22] Speaker C: Man.
[00:24:22] Speaker A: Derek Carr's been getting hammered by the public over there.
[00:24:26] Speaker B: I think he, I think he steps up.
[00:24:27] Speaker A: You think he steps up? Do you think he puts another receiver in the hospital?
[00:24:33] Speaker B: Maybe? You never know, man.
[00:24:38] Speaker A: Man, this is gonna be a good game, I think. San Francisco visiting Tampa Bay. Bucks.
Bucks. Definitely better than what their record shows. They've lost some pretty tough games. I feel bad for them, but.
Punches Chance almost pull off the upset last week.
Baker played really good in that, in that, in that Chiefs game.
San Francisco paired by six and I got the over. Under 50 and a half.
I got six and six and a half.
[00:25:10] Speaker C: I see six and a half.
[00:25:12] Speaker A: Okay, let's go with that.
[00:25:14] Speaker C: See, it opened at six and went up to six and a half.
[00:25:18] Speaker A: Yeah. Because MGM is posting two different numbers for each one.
[00:25:22] Speaker B: Well, MGM probably posted. They post an open line and what the current line is.
[00:25:26] Speaker A: Likely they're doing it for each team.
So six favorite for San Francisco and then, but like plus six and a half for Tampa Bay.
Interesting. Dude, these are both, these are must wins for both these teams. Christian McCaffrey. Christian McCaffrey. Oh, dude, how did I say that word?
[00:25:46] Speaker B: Cmc, bro. Just take Cmc, man.
[00:25:49] Speaker A: Cmc comes back. There's like the second half push that at least I envisioned for the San Francisco 49ers. Tampa Bay needs a win, though.
It's, it's a pretty decent team and they've been playing pretty good, but they, their defense is atrocious. And I don't know if Baker has one of these turnover games or not.
San Francisco's defense says, how are they this year?
Like, there's talent, but they haven't been like, lights out by any means.
[00:26:21] Speaker B: They've been all right.
[00:26:22] Speaker A: I mean, not with this coordinator.
[00:26:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:26:24] Speaker A: I mean, this game of the week, this is what this. There's some good games. This might be like the first really good game up here.
[00:26:30] Speaker C: Six and a half's a big line for it to be a game of the week, but, I mean, it is.
[00:26:35] Speaker B: It's not the game of the week. We're gonna get to the game of the week here pretty soon. Rome, I think it's probably your next game or two you're gonna announce.
[00:26:42] Speaker A: Oh, man. Yeah, I'm looking at that.
[00:26:44] Speaker C: It's a tough line for me. I think, I think San Francisco wins this Game. I'd probably stay away from it because Tampa Bay can just put up points. Baker's going to be up and down the field. It can go either way. So I, I'd stay away from it. But if I had to choose, I would choose San Francisco minus six and a half. I think you'll get some new explosiveness with the Caffrey back.
[00:27:06] Speaker B: Yeah. CMC, McCaffrey's back. Jennings is back. Coming off a bye week. I like the 49ers. Like I'm big here. Tampa, Tampa blew the wad on Monday night. They gave it their all. They came up short. Short week. 49ers off a buy. Last year, the 49ers came off a buy, went into Jacksonville one by 30 points. Similar fashion here. Double digit win for the 49ers. Too many weapons on offense that defensively rested. Good game plan, Baker. Two or three turnovers. Just not, not enough players to keep up with the 49ers. 49ers win this game. I'll go 31 17.
[00:27:44] Speaker A: Jesus Christ. I'm gonna lean. 49ers. But I wouldn't be surprised if Tampa puts up a fight and steals this at home. They really need it. I kind of like this next game, man. I'm gonna be stressing this this Sunday. Pittsburgh Steelers visiting the Washington Redskins Commanders.
[00:28:04] Speaker B: It's Commanders commander. I like Redskins too, but I like the Redskins.
[00:28:09] Speaker A: Do you guys know the history about the Redskins, about the name? I, I, I don't remember. I'm not really prepared for it. I'll come back next time, though. But it's actually like a really good story of why they were called the Redskins. But then people got offended. But then the tribe that it was named after, they're offended that they took it away because now it's taken away like notoriety and like respect for that tribe in that area. It's just all full of, you know, how come we don't cancel the Jets? They don't fly. They're crashing every year. But what do I know?
Pittsburgh, Washington.
I'm not going against my team, but I'm really nervous. Washington's favorite by two and a half over under 45. I got two and a half on FanDuel and three and three on MGM. Bet. So we'll go with the two and a half.
[00:28:59] Speaker C: Two and a half. I think you should be nervous. Commanders minus two and a half.
Book it.
[00:29:08] Speaker B: I've been going back and forth on this game.
Steelers coming off a buy now. This is Russell Wilson's first game on the road as the Quarterback.
It feels like the commander should win.
[00:29:21] Speaker A: No. Did. Weren't they in New York, The Giants?
[00:29:24] Speaker B: Who?
[00:29:24] Speaker C: No, no, no, that was in Pittsburgh.
[00:29:26] Speaker A: Oh, was.
[00:29:27] Speaker B: He had the jets and the Giants back to back home games.
[00:29:29] Speaker A: O. Well, you know, I think we should kind of talk about like the. The NFL trade deadline. It was this past Tuesday. They both got some pretty big pickups for some really good value. Pittsburgh had another weapon and wide receiver.
[00:29:43] Speaker B: I don't know how much Mike Williams got left. Aaron Rodgers basically giving him away for free.
[00:29:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:51] Speaker B: He paid for the private jet to get him out of there.
[00:29:56] Speaker A: I think Aaron Rodgers is still tripping out on his ayahuasca. I think he's stuck in the darkness, man.
[00:30:02] Speaker B: Hey, well, when you get to that game, I'll give you a winner for that game. I'm gonna take the Steelers to win this one, man.
I'm not confident in it, but Tomlin and those guys, I think they'll find a way. They gotta. They gotta play smart against Jaden Daniels, Lamar Jackson. They play him twice a year. Bring those same principles. Lamar's Ravens have more weapons than Washington and they got a better defense than Washington too. Steelers find a way to win this game as long as Russell Wilson doesn't blow. It.
[00:30:35] Speaker A: Never do for Russell Wilson. Blow game.
[00:30:41] Speaker C: Was this the. Was this the game of the week, Aaron?
[00:30:43] Speaker B: I think it's. I think, yeah, it's gotta be the game of the week. You got what, six and two, verse? Seven and two.
[00:30:48] Speaker A: Yeah, these are. These are contenders here.
[00:30:52] Speaker B: Possible super bowl preview right here. Man.
[00:30:53] Speaker A: Get the air. Don't jinx it, man. I already jinxed the Bengals today. We're not jinxing any more teams today.
I'm cutting it off. Let's go to the afternoon games. Tennessee visits Los Angeles.
San Diego superchargers. They should have said San Diego chargers favored by seven points. I got right here over under 39. You guys got the same thing. I got 30 and a half and 39.
[00:31:23] Speaker C: See 38 and a half minus seven on the Chargers.
Feels like a lot of points, but I'm gonna take the Chargers.
[00:31:37] Speaker B: Agree. Looks like a lot of points, but number one defense in the NFL. Scoring defense. Chargers often seems to be playing better. Titans can't really do much. Barely squeaked out a win.
Don't be surprised if it's like a push, like a 2013 final event, honestly.
[00:31:54] Speaker A: But this feels like a weird push, man.
[00:31:56] Speaker B: I would. I would say, I would lean. Chargers -7, but charges for sure don't get this win.
[00:32:01] Speaker A: Chargers like to lay these eggs. On afternoon games.
[00:32:05] Speaker B: That's the old Chargers, man. There's a new team.
[00:32:07] Speaker A: It's a new team.
[00:32:08] Speaker B: New team, man.
[00:32:09] Speaker C: This is, this Jim Harbaugh, coach. Man. We grinded no late.
[00:32:12] Speaker B: There's no laying eggs, dude.
[00:32:13] Speaker A: Okay?
[00:32:14] Speaker B: They're down at halftime. Your hardballs got him doing push ups to get the blood flowing again, dude.
[00:32:18] Speaker A: And there ain't no messing around drinking milk ever.
[00:32:20] Speaker B: Like right at, right out of the jug.
[00:32:22] Speaker A: I did a press conference talking about milk.
[00:32:24] Speaker C: I'm like, dude, milk with a steak that he just ran a flashlight over the top of it.
[00:32:29] Speaker A: Yeah, like, who drinks milk?
[00:32:32] Speaker B: I drink milk, dude.
[00:32:33] Speaker A: I know. That's why I said it. That's why I said it. Darren, that was a subtle stab at you.
[00:32:38] Speaker B: A gallon a week.
[00:32:39] Speaker A: A gallon a week.
[00:32:40] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:32:41] Speaker A: I'd be shitting my brains out if I drink.
I just had a. I. I forgot I put some sour cream on my, on my, like, tacos that I made today. Like some grilled chicken tacos. I'm. I've been. I got five candles on right now. Thinking of the place. Windows are cold. I'm freezing my ass off right now. My nipples are hard. It's rough. Just goes a sour cream.
A gallon of fucking weeks.
[00:33:04] Speaker B: I love me some sour cream with a glass of milk.
[00:33:06] Speaker A: Jesus, you fat.
[00:33:10] Speaker C: Just has a giant gallon of ice cream right after that.
[00:33:15] Speaker B: Summertime, maybe right now it's a little cool out for some ice cream.
[00:33:18] Speaker A: This guy hits up like the BBWs. Like, hey, babe, someone some sour cream. Let's go.
[00:33:28] Speaker B: All right, next game. Let's go. Charges minus seven.
[00:33:31] Speaker A: No comment, huh, Aaron? No comment from Aaron. Must be true.
Philly. Wait.
[00:33:39] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Philly Cowboys, let's go.
[00:33:42] Speaker A: No, I skipped the team, that's what.
Oh, New York Jets, Arizona jets, slight favorites one half. I got right here 46 and a half over under.
[00:33:58] Speaker C: I like the jets in this game.
Got to see Arizona in person last week. They looked pretty good, but.
But no, I. I think the jets, you know, should finally have something clicking here with Rogers. You know, offensively, prior to their game against the Bears, the Cardinals were kind of a bottom pass rush in the league right now. And if they can't get to Rogers in this game, it could be a pretty long day for them. I like the Jets.
[00:34:34] Speaker B: Yeah, I like the jets too.
Coming off that, you know, 10 days rest, cardinals, you know, took it to Jason's Bears, but Caprice hall has a big game. I think Garrett Wilson, Devonte Adams will have a nice game.
And I like the Jets. Here, cover one And a half was a pick them. So the wise guys have jumped on this line early to get it to one and a half.
[00:35:01] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm gonna lean on the under on this one. This is kind of like a. This is a weird pick them. As you said.
I. Arizona makes me nervous, man. Like, what team is going to show up? What version of if I always call him Kevin Murphy.
Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray.
This is a. Stay away from me. I don't like this line. I don't like this game at all. This can be ugly, but I'll take the under, though. 46 and a half. That's easy.
[00:35:36] Speaker C: I think one of the closest lines of the day, which. Basically a pickup. I don't like this line.
[00:35:43] Speaker A: It's not me. The line. I don't even like either team. But jets have to win. We already know that. I think we crossed them off like three weeks ago.
[00:35:49] Speaker B: And it's a big game for both teams.
Arizona's a divisional leader right now in the NFC west, so.
[00:35:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah.
All right. Philly.
Seven point favorites against Dallas. I got seven and seven and a half. And then over, under at 43 and 43 and a half. Let me know what lines you guys want to end up with.
[00:36:13] Speaker C: I see minus seven. I think the Eagles roll minus seven. You know, you're gonna have a backup quarterback in there for the Cowboys. For a team that already wasn't great, doesn't really have a running game. Easy win for the Eagles.
[00:36:29] Speaker B: Yeah, this looks like an easy win for the Eagles. You know, CD Lamb's banged up. I do. I do see Parsons coming back, but he'll probably be on a snap count.
[00:36:39] Speaker A: Who?
[00:36:40] Speaker B: Michael Parsons.
[00:36:41] Speaker C: Parsons.
[00:36:41] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, that's right.
[00:36:43] Speaker B: Dallas struggles against the run. Phillies really, really dedicated themselves to the run game. It looks like A.J. brown's gonna be ready to go. You know, they got hurt's gonna have his full commentary weapons there. I. I like the Eagles to cover seven here, too. There's no re. There's no reason they shouldn't beat Dallas by dou.
[00:37:02] Speaker A: Yeah. Cooper Rush did tear it up though, a couple years ago. He was solid and people were calling for him to stay as the starter before Dak came back. So I'm kind of curious to see how he plays. I'm leaning Philly. I don't know if they cover though. I think it might be like a little closer than seven. I'm gonna say over the 43 and a half. I think Philly probably gets like 35 points by themselves. And Dallas kind of gets like two touchdowns in a field goal to kind of push it over Sunday night. Detroit Lions, the best team in the NFL.
My opinion goes against the Houston.
I was gonna say Houston Rockets.
Detroit's life favorites. Three and a half got. I got 48 and a half and 49 for the over.
This could be a tough game. There's a couple guys out though on Houston, right?
[00:37:59] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, Nico Collins isn't going to play. I like the Lions. The Lions are going to roll. Houston here. I mean, Houston's not enough weapons on offense to keep up. Detroit's rolling. They'll roll here. Indoor, not outdoor game. No weather to be an issue.
Lions big win. Double digits here against Houston.
[00:38:20] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm agreeing with Aaron. I mean, since that New England game for the Texans, even though they won two weeks ago against Indy, the Texans really haven't really been clicking on all cylinders. The lines have been the absolute opposite. Rome, I think you said their best team in the NFL because you just dismissed the undefeated Chiefs. But you know, the Lions are just rolling offensively overall. You know, this is a team, you know, that should be NFC Championship game. Aaron, did you pick them? No. You had the packers, didn't you?
[00:38:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:38:50] Speaker B: Packers come out of the NFC for your nfc.
[00:38:52] Speaker C: But regardless, you know, continue to be, you know, best division in football. They're leading the way. Lions win this one.
[00:39:00] Speaker A: Nice. We have another. Do we have a double header Sunday night? No, this is Monday. Okay. Sorry.
All right. Monday Night Football. Miami visiting the Rams. LA's gonna be busy this weekend hosting two games back to back at the same stadium, huh?
I'll be fun.
I got the Rams slight favorites by one point, but it's one and a half on FanDuel.
[00:39:26] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, I think this is going to be a high scoring game if it's, you know, minus one.
I, I would have said easily. The Dolphins once TUA kind of came back that they got to win these games and the Rams were kind of left for dead with all their injuries a couple weeks ago. But I'm, I'm just really not feeling what the Dolphins are putting out here on a week to week basis And I think McVeigh has got something for him and I take the Rams in this one.
[00:39:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Dolphins two. Two games back, two tough losses against the Cardinals and Bills.
Rams at home, they've got their full weapons back. Defense plays a little more energy, is playing better. I don't trust Miami's defense at all. All I'm taking the Rams here as well.
[00:40:16] Speaker A: We talked about a few weeks back like one of these three and five teams, they're going to start turning around, you know. Is that the Jets? Is that the Bengals, Is that the Rams? We did talk about the Rams, how they might be like a dark horse to kind of make some noise. They got some offensive weapons coming back. I think now the trade deadlines passed, all that chatters subsided.
They're making some moves, man. They, they're cutting off some impressive wins they barely missed on the pack a few weeks ago.
Owned the Vikings, took care of the Seahawks. Dolphins.
Probably like one of the weaker opponents that they're going to face in the last few weeks. Besides the Raiders. They. They run away with the win here.
Yeah, it should be fun.
Let's take a quick break.
We'll come back and do Aaron's college football games of the week.
I will back for Aaron's college football games of the week. But he sent a picture on his yellow notepad and half is covered in shadows. Nice job, dude. Couldn't like, get like the sun covering the whole thing so we can actually read it.
[00:41:38] Speaker B: You can't read a little more.
[00:41:39] Speaker C: A little more texture or like, you know, just. Well, I mean, textures may be the wrong word, you know, just going for, you know, it's an artsy type of thing, you know.
[00:41:48] Speaker A: It is, right? I'm sorry.
[00:41:50] Speaker C: The shadows are coming in.
[00:41:51] Speaker B: Blame it on the new daylight savings time if you don't like it, you know. Shadows coming through.
[00:41:58] Speaker A: Week 11. Is it week 11?
[00:42:00] Speaker B: Week 11, man, for college.
[00:42:01] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:42:02] Speaker A: What?
All right. College football lines. By the way, I'm only putting 10 of these teams on the graphics for IGNX. I'm not, I'm not. It takes me a long time to like, format it, you know, Whatever you.
[00:42:14] Speaker B: Got to do, man.
[00:42:15] Speaker C: I do find it weird that Aaron is so judgy of you, you know, doing like a top eight NFL power rankings, but, you know, he's bus out.
[00:42:23] Speaker A: 20 games a week.
[00:42:24] Speaker B: Yeah, it's games, man. Games to keep an eye on, man.
[00:42:29] Speaker A: You're right, dude. That's a good point. Thank you.
[00:42:32] Speaker C: Great point. Games to keep an eye on where Aaron may or may not watch the game.
[00:42:38] Speaker A: I just heard that recording again. He's like, well, I actually didn't watch the game. It's on your list, dude. You better watch the game. If all these fucking games.
[00:42:46] Speaker B: My credit, about 95% of these games on this list do get watched at some point.
[00:42:55] Speaker A: Hilarious.
[00:42:57] Speaker B: Sometimes it's kind of tough because, you know, one games on Peacock. I'm already streaming two other games. So it's I don't want to. You don't change networks.
[00:43:04] Speaker A: That's fair. That's fair.
[00:43:06] Speaker B: It is about 90, 95% I'm on.
[00:43:08] Speaker C: It is the modern problem, though, in streaming services, though, you can't do the easy slip between. Between games, man. You can't just get that mod out, click. I gotta get out of an app and move to another app.
[00:43:20] Speaker B: And then even if you're missing action, you're missing. You're already watching.
[00:43:23] Speaker C: Even if I'm on YouTube TV, which I'm a big fan of, by the way, but even. Even the click between channels isn't even. Even in quick, you know, it's like, oh, it's a little piece to go in there.
[00:43:32] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, it sucks. You really can't gamble in time for that.
[00:43:37] Speaker C: Well, it really sucks if you got friends that don't have streaming because then they're like 10 seconds ahead and they're texting out something that happened, and it's like, ah, that was a nightmare during the World Series.
[00:43:47] Speaker A: All right, so every football game, if there's Wisconsin playing any New York team, I can hear aces cheering 10 seconds before the play happens in my house. I'm like, dude, well, now I know they scored a touchdown.
[00:43:59] Speaker C: Wisconsin.
[00:44:01] Speaker A: Aces is a Wisconsin bar. That's why I always call it games. Yeah, it's Wisconsin. It's New York bar. But the guy went to Wisconsin for college, I think.
I don't know. It's big. Mets, Rangers, Yankees.
That's where they didn't like me when I was cheering. When they won game five. Try charging me double. The bartender tried hitting me with the black dildo. Was huge. It was crazy. Crazy broad, dude. I haven't been there since.
[00:44:31] Speaker C: Where's Rome? Hanging out. Watch these baseball games.
[00:44:35] Speaker B: Well, these literally Aces is just walk out the door, man. I mean, yeah, you fall in your face, you're right at aces to their. Literally.
[00:44:42] Speaker A: I like cold beers.
[00:44:43] Speaker B: I like.
[00:44:46] Speaker A: Moderately priced shots. You know, you can get pretty up.
[00:44:49] Speaker C: Apparently if you're not weird wearing a Dodgers hat, it's double.
[00:44:52] Speaker A: Yeah, no, even the owner, I saw him the other day. He didn't say hi to me. So I'll just let time pass.
That's my fault for talking time.
[00:45:01] Speaker B: Time heals all wounds.
[00:45:02] Speaker A: Yeah, does it.
[00:45:04] Speaker C: He does it. He's just got to be consoled with the 26 World Series titles by the Yankees or whatever it is.
[00:45:10] Speaker A: Yeah, can go himself. All right, back to the college lines, Aaron.
So, by the way, dude, I just want to say thank you for having UCLA on Here because they've been playing lights out lately. And I've even heard other podcasts, other credible college football guys impressed with how UCLA is playing. But I think everyone's in agreement that that's not going to happen this week. So you got Iowa -6, 44 and.
[00:45:37] Speaker B: A half, Friday night special, Friday night upset. I like UCLA to beat Iowa.
[00:45:43] Speaker A: Whoa.
Okay.
Why is that?
[00:45:49] Speaker B: I like the way they're playing. They're at home. Momentum's good. I was not that great of A football team. UCLA's got more offense than them. That'll be the difference in this one. UCLA wins by a field goal late.
[00:46:01] Speaker A: Dude, I'm really proud of how UCLA's play, man. They were saying how they had the toughest schedule to start off the season and new coach, no experience, all that stuff, and they got their ass kicked. They obviously looked like. But I'm really proud of them. Who'd have known? Going to a tougher conference to make them tougher, you know, I want to.
[00:46:18] Speaker C: I want to say an under reported storyline of this college football season. Iowa really score some points this year.
[00:46:27] Speaker B: Compared to what they've done in the past. Yes.
[00:46:30] Speaker C: I mean generally, man, it was story of the week. We're hamming an under of like 23 and a half or something for some game. For some game or thing.
[00:46:37] Speaker B: Yeah. I want to say they honestly had over unders last year anywhere between 30 and 33 and a half.
[00:46:44] Speaker A: Jesus.
[00:46:45] Speaker B: And I want to say twice this year they've scored 30 plus points. At least I was looking it up right now.
[00:46:51] Speaker C: They scored 43 times.
[00:46:54] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah.
[00:46:56] Speaker C: So.
[00:46:56] Speaker A: All right, so UCLA in the upset.
[00:46:58] Speaker B: I like UCLA though. In this upset. Yes.
[00:47:01] Speaker A: Florida plus 21 and a half against the number five ranked team, Texas 47, which we can talk about the playoff rankings.
[00:47:09] Speaker B: All those rankings are playoff rankings, by the way. So that's their playoff ranking coming in five.
[00:47:14] Speaker A: You guys like the rankings? Like nothing really changed from the ap except they, I think they left Vanderbilt off completely off the toy of 20 ranked teams, which is kind of weird.
[00:47:25] Speaker B: Yeah, you got. Well, if you get down later down the list, you're going to see Vanderbilt versus South Carolina. I don't know how either one of those teams is not ranked, if not both.
So. Yeah. But Florida plus 21 and a half, they're down to their third string quarterback. They've been playing a lot better. Florida should cover this game.
Texas, you know, Urs, he's not been playing great. I think you're gonna see Archie Manning in this one. Florida's Going to get after him defensively. They're going to get a mobile quarterback in there. Archie Manning is going to make a appearance in this ball game for Texas, maybe bail them out again.
[00:47:56] Speaker A: By the way, some people are saying Texas actually better than what their ranking is. A lot of people got them in top three. I think you guys are the only downers on Texas, but have them call me.
[00:48:05] Speaker B: I'll send them straight.
[00:48:06] Speaker A: Yeah. Iowa State number 17. Jason shaking his head. That's a cool hat, by the way. Minus three against Kansas over under 50.
[00:48:16] Speaker B: Big game for Iowa State coming off that loss this past weekend. Kansas can upset him here again. This can be back to back losses for Iowa State. You can put them, put them in the bed of getting to the title conference game in the Big 12. Their season's going, their, their season's going down the tubes. I like Kansas as an upset here over Iowa State.
[00:48:37] Speaker A: I don't think Kansas that good.
All right, what is that?
[00:48:44] Speaker B: We got what? Miami against Georgia Tech here.
[00:48:48] Speaker A: Oh my God. Come on. I was thinking like, okay, it's four, so it has to be Miami. But it says meow, meow, meow, me or mar.
Okay, that's the M. That's your M.
Do you have any other M's on this list? That's, that's, that's standing out on its own.
[00:49:10] Speaker C: It's not about the M. It's that he spelled Miami. M I A. M I A.
[00:49:17] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:49:19] Speaker A: I'm like, what?
[00:49:22] Speaker B: I lost myself there and probably thrown it twice. But yeah, Georgia Tech.
[00:49:32] Speaker C: Mia. Mia.
[00:49:35] Speaker B: And I think, I mean Miami might be MIA in this game. Georgia Tech possible upset over Miami.
[00:49:41] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:49:41] Speaker B: If, if Georgia Tech's quarterback's back, I'll. I like Georgia Tech maybe to pull an upset here. Keep an eye on this. Miami's on upset watch this week.
[00:49:49] Speaker C: We've been waiting for the Mario Crystal ball, you know, ill timed coaching decision of the year so far.
This could be the week.
[00:49:57] Speaker B: Maybe Aaron said this could be the week. Yes.
[00:50:00] Speaker A: Right now. So.
[00:50:01] Speaker B: Yeah, keep an eye on this game.
[00:50:03] Speaker A: Byu, a lot of people are saying they're hella underranked. Hella. I never say hella. Too much time. What are you saying?
[00:50:09] Speaker B: Back in the day.
[00:50:09] Speaker C: Yeah, that was a man. We're going early 2000s right now.
[00:50:13] Speaker A: That's what people use up here. BYU minus three against Utah, 40 and a half.
[00:50:20] Speaker B: We've been riding BYU all year. Again, they're underrated in this line. Again, minus three. They should beat Utah by at least seven plus points. No respect, man. No respect. Give me, BYU minus three all day over Utah in state battle here.
[00:50:39] Speaker A: Colorado number 20 minus 4 against Texas Tech.
[00:50:44] Speaker B: The Red Raiders, another upset. This could be upset week and Saturday for you. I like Texas Tech to beat Colorado.
[00:50:50] Speaker A: Oh, dude, I would love that.
[00:50:55] Speaker C: Kind of crazy. We talked a lot about Colorado earlier in the year on the negative trend. But you know, last year, all the hype in this team. Well, they win three games last year.
[00:51:05] Speaker B: Three or four. Yeah, three or four.
[00:51:07] Speaker C: They've already won six games this year ranked this late in the season. Feels like Colorado's had no hype the last month or so while they've kind of been on this little bit of a run. I mean, Aaron say maybe it's gonna all come. Come crashing down this week, but I mean, props to. Props to Dion and everything over there because I mean a lot of haters in there. Maybe we or some of them early in the. In the. Earlier in the year. But you know, they got this team working together and you know, became bowl eligible already bowl eligible and they still.
[00:51:33] Speaker B: Got a chance to get to the Big 12 title game. Impossible. College football playoff. I like the way Texas Tech's playing. They just, obviously they just beat. What was it, Iowa State last week. Lost a tough game the week before when their quarterback got hurt. Freshman came in. They lost a tcu a lot of points here. Tech covers. I think Texas Tech wins outright. They're going to beat Colorado.
[00:51:54] Speaker A: They did play Iowa State. Really tough. That was a.
That was an ugly game.
Georgia number three. I think they're over hyped, overranked. Two and a half favorites against number 16 Mississippi.
[00:52:12] Speaker B: I don't believe they're overranked or overhyped, but they're going to lose on Saturday. I like Ole Miss, Mississippi and Lane Kiffin. They get them get in the Mississippi will get into the playoff of win here. Helps him get that way. Mississippi.
[00:52:28] Speaker A: Interesting.
South Carolina minus four and a half against Vanderbilt. Having a great year. Diego Pavia.
[00:52:38] Speaker B: Big game. Big game. Vanderbilt getting four and a half. They've been a covering machine. They've covered every game going back since they upset Alabama.
They won't cover this one, though. I like South Carolina to win. It's gonna be a battle. It's gonna be a dog fight. But I. South Carolina's got a little more players. That quarterback's tough to bring down. Defense is strong. They'll beat Vanderbilt by seven or more. Give me South Carolina minus four and a half.
[00:53:04] Speaker A: Too much for the Commodores to handle, huh?
[00:53:07] Speaker B: Too much, man.
[00:53:08] Speaker A: Michigan plus 14 against number eight, Indiana.
[00:53:13] Speaker B: Coursest games on this list. Michigan will lose again. They'll get the 5 and 5 and will they become bowl eligible? We'll find out. But this Indiana will stay undefeated as they get prepared for a showdown with Ohio State coming up here pretty soon.
[00:53:30] Speaker C: I feel this is on the list. Just so Aaron gets the narrative of his calling of a six win Michigan season.
[00:53:36] Speaker B: That's correct, Jason. You are correct.
[00:53:39] Speaker A: I'm gonna go with an upset special on this one. I think Michigan wins. It's just a feeling. That's like the most irrational feeling I have all year.
Florida State. Why are they even on here? Plus 26 against Notre Dame.
[00:53:53] Speaker B: Don't assault Jason's team.
[00:53:54] Speaker C: Yeah, what are you talking about? And this is. This is the big matchup between me and Aaron, man.
[00:53:57] Speaker A: This is.
[00:53:58] Speaker C: This is our team's face, you know, Battle of the titans.
[00:54:02] Speaker B: This is like. This is the college football bet of the year. If there was a bed of the year. Give me Notre Dame -26. They're going to blow out Florida State. They're going to blow them out. They're going to blow them out. They're going to drop. They're going to beat him by 40 points, dude. 40 points. Take the over. Over in Notre Dame parlay of the year. Bed of the year Notre dame minus fucking 26, dude. Man.
[00:54:23] Speaker C: He shocked me on that one because.
[00:54:25] Speaker A: Jesus Christ.
[00:54:26] Speaker C: Was it Monday or yesterday's NBA preview pod? We brought up Notre Dame at some point and he said there was a special upset. Come in or yada yada, yada. I'm like, man. Was he. Is he telling me Florida State's going to beat Notre Dame is what he's going to say. But tell me they're going to blow him out by 40 points. Okay, you got me on that one, Aaron. Wow.
[00:54:45] Speaker B: I'm not. I'm not drinking what Rome's drinking with Michigan. I'm drinking the good stuff, man. Over here. Give me Notre Dame. They'll cover this in the first half. They're going to blow out Florida State.
In fact, this might be one game of the 5% of the games I don't watch. This might be it. Actually. I don't know if I'm going to throw that one on.
[00:55:03] Speaker C: Well, I'll be watching.
[00:55:05] Speaker A: I'll probably watch a little bit of it too. I'm kind of curious to see how bad this game is. 23 Clemson overhyped Virginia Tech.
[00:55:15] Speaker B: Yeah, Clemson coming off a bad loss. They need to win to keep things going.
Similar to Iowa State losing at home. I Said it's gonna be a big weekend of upsets. I like Virginia Tech to upset Clemson here. Clemson, they'll be done. They'll be out of the ACC race. You're looking at Miami, you're looking at SMU as a one of those two teams playing it out, looking like for the battle of the ACC to get that automatic playoff birth.
[00:55:40] Speaker A: Usually only call like one or two upsets a week. You have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
[00:55:45] Speaker B: 6 upsets, man, a lot of upsets this weekend, Man, I feel a lot of upsets. And Rome, Michigan is not one of them. They're not even close on that radar list.
[00:55:57] Speaker A: Yeah, India is pretty good this year.
I think they're underranked as well.
I think they're a top five team.
[00:56:08] Speaker B: We're gonna see. We're gonna see. Like I said, I don't know. Jason may know it's either next week or the following week. They got at Ohio State.
[00:56:15] Speaker A: I think they beat Ohio State.
[00:56:17] Speaker C: Who's that?
[00:56:18] Speaker B: Indiana.
[00:56:20] Speaker C: I think it's in two weeks.
[00:56:22] Speaker A: I'm not really sold on Ohio State. They haven't really played anybody. Played one of the weaker schedules so far.
[00:56:31] Speaker B: Well, we'll look at that game when he gets here, but we'll look at.
[00:56:33] Speaker A: Yeah, cool. And then your last game.
[00:56:37] Speaker C: No, it is. It is next week.
[00:56:39] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, Big new. It'll be big. Noon kickoff at 9am Would be my guess.
[00:56:45] Speaker A: Yeah. Alabama number 11 against LSU.
It's a hell of a game.
[00:56:54] Speaker B: Yeah, it is a hell of a game.
[00:56:56] Speaker A: Game of the week going back and forth.
[00:56:58] Speaker B: I don't like Alabama's defense.
LSU could score, but can they stop Jaylen Melro?
[00:57:05] Speaker A: The only person can stop Milro is himself.
And he's pretty good at it.
[00:57:11] Speaker B: Yeah, he is pretty good.
Feels like Alabama should win this game at lsu. Yeah, I'm gonna take. I mean, a lot of people.
Of all the upsets I've given, I don't think this is one of them. I like Alabama to win here.
[00:57:25] Speaker A: I don't even think it would be an upset. They're both ranked.
[00:57:29] Speaker C: Bam is 11, LSU's 15.
[00:57:31] Speaker B: Bama is favored by three on the road. So.
[00:57:36] Speaker C: Bama's had, I don't want to say one of the great years, obviously, with the two losses they've had so far. But your guy, Mike Norvell. Aaron, bringing Florida State back into this.
[00:57:48] Speaker B: Bring him. Bring him back.
[00:57:50] Speaker C: Rumored that he turned down the Bama job to go back to Florida State. And that's correct. One in a team, man. I don't know of a bigger change of fates in college football history of not taking the Bama job, going back to a team that was undefeated last year and then wind up 1 and 8.
[00:58:12] Speaker B: Yeah. The difference, you know, going back to Florida State. He's going to have a job next year at Florida State. 1 and 8 at Alabama. He'd be showing the door already right away. And you don't want to follow. We've talked about it. Jason's mentioned a lot. You don't want to follow a legendary coach. Plus, Florida State basically upped his pay to the same that Alabama was going to pay him. You don't want to jump into the SEC. Florida State. Yeah, they're going to. They're 1 and 8. They'll be 1 in 9. They'll go to 2 and 9 and finish the year 2 and 10. Mark it down. Guarantee it. Florida State, finish the year two and 10 and they'll be back next year as a top 25 team. You can put that down too, as a guarantee.
[00:58:49] Speaker A: We will put it down. I will bookmark it and have it as a clip for next week, next year.
Awesome, man. That's a pretty solid. I really like it.
[00:58:59] Speaker B: So, yeah, recap.
[00:59:00] Speaker A: Upset.
[00:59:00] Speaker B: So I got ucla, I've got Kansas, I've got Texas Tech, Mississippi, Virginia Tech.
[00:59:09] Speaker A: And you also keep an eye, keep.
[00:59:10] Speaker B: An eye on Georgia Tech against Miami. That's an upset alert.
[00:59:13] Speaker A: I kind of like that, actually.
[00:59:15] Speaker B: But I. It all depends on. Georgia Tech's got their main quarterback back. I haven't looked to see if he's going to play without him. I don't like it if he's back. Georgia Tech's a live dog on Saturday.
[00:59:25] Speaker A: What'd you guys think of the initial playoff rankings that came out this past Tuesday?
Agree with it? Disagree with it?
[00:59:34] Speaker C: I, I don't think there's anything really to disagree with about it.
[00:59:38] Speaker A: Too early.
[00:59:40] Speaker B: I don't think it's too early. We're what, three quarters of the season done?
[00:59:45] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, there's really no surprises. It's all, you know, Bama's the only two lost team. You know, I've been calling, you know, Boise State was one of the few things this season I've gotten right so far, you know, and they're gonna, they're kind of sitting in that 12 seed right now, Notre Dame, tough loss in Northern Illinois, but have gone undefeated. Sitting in that 10. BYU, I think, has been, you know, the big surprise we already mentioned before and then being in the, in the number nine slot. But just, you know, there's going to be a lot of these conference title games and things like that. They're, they're really going to complicate things. And that's, that's really what I'm kind of looking forward to. Because you know you're going to have, I mean, let's talk about like SMU versus Miami right now. Let's say that's the ACC title game. You'd have a undefeated Miami team versus a one loss SMU team. SMU wins the ACC so they get the automatic birth. Okay, are you keeping out a one loss Miami team that lost in the title game? And if you don't keep them out, okay, who else are you kicking out? So I think the conference title games are going to be the thing that throws the playoff into some fluxes because you know, there's been those. I mean you would have looked at last year that Georgia losing in the SEC championship game to Alabama and then they get knocked out of the final four. Now you got the thing where it's like, hey, are these people still in the playoff? But where's their person outside looking in because of it? And then, then there's a team potentially out there.
[01:01:10] Speaker A: There.
[01:01:11] Speaker C: You know, there's scenarios in which, you know, Indiana would be the perfect example. They lose to Ohio State. They're not in the Big Ten championship game. They're a one loss team. Let's say it's Oregon, Ohio State in the Big Ten title game. Ohio State wins the Big Ten and then everyone's a one loss team. Indiana didn't have to play the Big Ten title game. Do you keep them out or do they go in? But they weren't in the conference title game. So there's some weird scenarios to me that, of how those conference title games could work that I'm going to be paying attention to.
[01:01:42] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[01:01:42] Speaker B: Jason brings up a good point. I mean you got this week, Alabama 11 versus 15, LSU. The loser's done. The loser of this game has three losses. They're out of the playoff. It's a playoff elimination game this week. Those teams you mentioned, Indiana. Indiana has to show out good against Ohio State because basically if they don't get to the conference championship like Jason said, it'd be Ohio State, Oregon. You're comparing now Indiana to Penn State. We got Penn State versus Ohio State. We saw the tape, we saw the game. If Indiana falls out and plays good on the road, I would put them in over Penn State. The committee will be looking at that. Their schedule may not be as hard, as difficult as Penn State, but they've been blowing people out. They play well at Ohio State. Keep it close, keep it interesting. I'd give them the nod over Penn State. So that's where things to look forward to even if they don't get to a conference championship game. And SMU has one loss this year. It was a Friday night. Guess who? An undefeated byu. They beat Miami and Miami's kind of one of those one lost teams. You put them in over Penn State. You put them in over in Indiana. Miami's Plate 00 top 25 teams and the only one they could play could potentially beat them. ACC is getting one team in. I've been saying it all year. It's either going to be likely Miami or smu.
So we'll see what happens.
[01:03:09] Speaker A: We kind of cool. SMU made it in. Anything else.
[01:03:14] Speaker C: On the college football front? I don't got F1 to talk about this week but NASCAR throwing that out there. You got the final out in Phoenix. The final four for NASCAR coming down to Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, Tyler Reddick and William Byron for the NASCAR championship. So dude, I feel must be racing.
[01:03:35] Speaker A: This week this year.
I totally missed the whole season.
[01:03:39] Speaker C: Well, you can tune in this weekend and catch the final.
[01:03:42] Speaker B: Sounds like Jason should have just stayed out there in Arizona. NASCAR there.
Chad's showing up another Cardinals football game. A lot going on out there in Arizona, man.
[01:03:51] Speaker C: Could have been. But Arizona beat me up pretty bad last week so I don't know if I could spend another week there.
[01:03:55] Speaker B: Yeah, he was, he was late jumping on the pod that Monday.
[01:03:58] Speaker C: I was. It was, it was rough, guys.
[01:04:00] Speaker A: Devastated. Yeah.
[01:04:04] Speaker B: Dude.
[01:04:04] Speaker A: I was going to talk about something really funny about the Bears, but.
[01:04:10] Speaker B: If.
[01:04:11] Speaker C: We must, I will say, you know, numerous complaints, maybe talk about the Bears too much. Some stuff going around today at Chicago media was that the rumors on the Eberfluze contract is actually one year longer than expected. And there's some reporting around people who are close to Ryan polls saying that regardless what happens this year, Eber Flutes keeps his job.
And then you had Adam Schefter on get up this morning saying Ben Johnson potentially doesn't want the Bears job, which is the candidate that me and many other Bears fans want. So it's, it's a lot of drama going on in Chicago right now that are not making people happy. So I didn't want to talk about this Patriots game earlier this week, but there's a lot on the line there.
[01:04:52] Speaker A: A lot on the line. I think Ben Johnson stays the Lions.
[01:04:57] Speaker C: Ben Johnson's a unique story because he, he was pretty selective last year. I think Washington had a lot of interest in him and he turned flying.
[01:05:08] Speaker A: Out and then he canceled mid flight.
[01:05:10] Speaker C: Yeah. And so this, I think this is one of those of those things where hey, like, because Generally, hey, there's 32 of these jobs and these guys will jump at a chance to take any of them. Where this guy's pretty confident, hey, I'm going to get a job. I'm going to choose the organization in my situation and make sure I am successful. If not, I, hey, I can fall back and I'm basically pretty much co ish head coach of this team right now. From a Lions perspective. You know, I think Dan Campbell's done a great job at a leadership aspect to put a team out there. But I think Ben Johnson's got a lot of credit for, you know, resurging Jared Goff and putting, you know, getting this offense on the map. But it's an interesting situation because you don't get a lot of these guys that are this kind of picky and choosy of which head coaching job they're going to go get.
[01:05:58] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I heard the same. He's been real picky and choosy, but I've heard the amount of money he's demanding is kind of, you know, throwing some people off. Given that he's never coached as a head coach in the NFL.
I've heard he's. I've already wanted anywhere close at 16 million hardball type money up there.
[01:06:15] Speaker A: What? Yeah.
[01:06:17] Speaker B: So he's going to take a gig. I don't know if it's going to be Chicago. I think he's going to end up in one of the New York teams, either the jets or Giants. That's where he'll end up. He'll get the 12 to 14 million million he's looking for.
Expect the Jets Woody Johnson to write him a blank check. That's what I'm hearing.
[01:06:32] Speaker A: I got nothing. I'm just dead tired now. I do want to say though, before we go, that by Red Wings destroyed Jason's Blackhawks yesterday 4 to 1. Scored two goals in the final period. It was really fun to watch, that's all. Rough start of the season. I thought they're gonna be better. We're only 6 and 5 and 1.
But I still hope the ascension back to the top of the NHL is underway. We'll see how it goes.
[01:07:01] Speaker C: Big game from Dylan Larkin last night.
[01:07:03] Speaker A: Yeah, that's cool.
I didn't catch any games tonight, though.
Totally missed out.
All right, that'd do it then.
We'll be back on Monday.
I'll reveal a new Power 8 rankings.
[01:07:23] Speaker B: On Power right this week. I didn't even hear him. Dude, even have them. Do you even have the list ready?
[01:07:28] Speaker A: I don't have it up right now. No.
[01:07:30] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:07:31] Speaker C: He took, he took a week off from the power. Right. You know, it'll be more, more anticipation for next week.
[01:07:36] Speaker B: His brain's taking a little time to go from five to eight. All right, I'll give, I'll give him a bye week on it.
[01:07:40] Speaker C: I think two weeks ago, I don't.
[01:07:42] Speaker A: Remember, I. I think I talked about the eight from last week.
[01:07:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:07:48] Speaker A: Because we're going to week nine, right.
[01:07:49] Speaker B: And then Jason said if you had to throw a 6, 7 and 8 team in there, you threw some teams out.
[01:07:54] Speaker A: But we're going to week nine, right? NFL Week 10. Week 10. So I didn't even do a week. Oh, I have to do a week nine now. Yeah, yeah.
[01:08:02] Speaker B: I mean, you're taking a bye week. This is your bye week. Mid season bye week for you.
[01:08:06] Speaker C: Hey, just slow maintenance week, you know, Just need, just needs to buy you recalibrate, you know, get some observations going on in the weekend. Watch some more game tape.
Listen to those sources from Aaron Sofa.
[01:08:18] Speaker A: I think it was a bad mistake actually going to eight because it's pretty tough to narrow down to eight, man, because there's. They're all really good teams. Five even five's tough, but eight actually made it harder. I was like, there's like, I tried.
[01:08:33] Speaker B: There's like three or four easy on you. And you just wanted to make it more difficult next time.
[01:08:38] Speaker A: I'm just like 10 games after college football.
[01:08:40] Speaker B: How many games?
[01:08:41] Speaker A: Just pick 10 games next time.
[01:08:44] Speaker B: I threw some games that shouldn't have been in there, but, you know, I wanted to throw Florida State, Notre Dame in there because, you know, Touchdown Jesus will be there, but he will not be wearing garden and gold. I can tell you that on Saturday.
[01:08:56] Speaker A: Nice.
[01:08:57] Speaker B: 50 to 10. 50 to 10. Notre Dame over Florida State. That's my prediction.
[01:09:01] Speaker A: Have a good weekend. We'll catch everybody on the pod Monday night. Well, we'll be recording Monday night. We will catch you Tuesday morning as he gets released with new power rankings and all that good stuff.
This is Rome, Aaron, Jason, peace out.
