[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:03] Speaker B: What's up, everybody? This is so. Sources from the Sofa Sports podcast that's a tongue twister. Say that six times. Sources from the Sofa Source. From the sofa. Source for the sofa.
Big day today. Earlier today, we just recorded the Sofa. Wise guys. Check that out. Sniper west gave out three college football picks. Aaron told out one. And then they kind of talked over all the NFL games that should be out very shortly before this pod goes out. And we had MLB playoffs. We had some WNBA playoffs. A lot of Valkyries fans over here in the Bay. I'm up here in the Bay, and they don't look too happy downstairs. So I'm not really sure what's happening in that game, but it got pretty quiet. A lot of people don't like the Las Vegas Aces.
And then I was around town super pumped about my Dodgers taking care of business.
Taking care of business. There is a sale going on right now.
[00:01:07] Speaker A: Valkyries are up 20 in that series. Rome.
[00:01:09] Speaker B: Oh, they won today.
[00:01:10] Speaker A: Yeah, they won 83.
[00:01:12] Speaker C: 81.
[00:01:13] Speaker B: So overtime, huh?
[00:01:14] Speaker A: Or it was not the game over time.
The other game over time. The dream over the Liberty.
[00:01:19] Speaker B: Holy. Yeah, up here. They were not happy that Becky Ham was not giving the Valkyries their flowers for being good. It was more like talking, saying that the Aces were just not.
Not acing, but down two. Oh, isn't it a best of five series just like baseball?
[00:01:37] Speaker A: I don't know. Rome, you're the WNBA guy.
Yeah, they.
[00:01:43] Speaker B: They got expanded.
[00:01:44] Speaker C: It is best of five. The Finals are a best of seven.
[00:01:47] Speaker A: There.
[00:01:48] Speaker B: There we go.
[00:01:48] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:01:49] Speaker B: All right. Let's get into it, though. Mlb, postseason, it's been fun, but lots very different than last year. Last year, we had a lot of series extending out through the 5, 7 games. This year we've had quite a bit of sweeps already. Tampa Bay took care of business against. Against the Yankees. I don't know if you guys saw that home run. That wasn't a home run from Volpe. They swiped two runs off the board. Some people are arguing it was the right call. Some people are saying they got gypped. At least everyone on tbs, Fox is saying that it was the right way to go, but they lose by one.
Jason was live or attending the game today, Game three in Chicago, hoping that he would witness his White Sox get a sweep.
But that game moves on to game four tomorrow. We just learned today that Sniper west has a parlay for all the.
All the winners. And he took a gamble. He took the guardians. So we found that out today. We'll see if that's a jinx or not.
[00:02:59] Speaker A: That's a gamble room. I mean, the Guardians were this, were the series favorite. He, he said he wanted to take the White Sox but just couldn't. He couldn't pull the trigger.
[00:03:08] Speaker B: Was last of the Guardians. Did well in the playoffs, though.
[00:03:12] Speaker A: A long time.
[00:03:13] Speaker C: Room 2016 when they lost to the
[00:03:15] Speaker A: Cubs in the World Series. I think we talked about it on the last part. I don't, I don't think they've won a playoff series as the Guardians haven't since then.
[00:03:22] Speaker B: No, not since then. So.
[00:03:24] Speaker A: And they're not, they're not going to win this series either.
[00:03:26] Speaker B: I don't think so.
[00:03:27] Speaker A: I think Jason, when we were talking off air, I think, I think we kind of figured out what the problem is. It sounds like the mojo will be up a little bit of a different vibe tomorrow and we'll see how that goes. I, I'll be better than the White Sox. I'm, I'm filling with Jason selling. We'll see everything he's sold so far. Bears, Panthers, Jaguars has been money. So I'm gonna jump on the White Sox bandwagon. That's my new team that I'm going with now. Rome. I'm on the bandwagon. The Dodgers. Let's go, White Sox.
[00:03:56] Speaker B: Go ahead.
[00:03:57] Speaker C: Aaron's a little mad right now. All right, But I feel him. But we both have the teams lose today, but his now they're going to the, the Bahamas or they're going golfing right now.
[00:04:11] Speaker B: His days have this phrase, spicy chicken whenever, like, you know, him and his sister acting a little upset. And that's what Aaron's acting like right now, throwing a little kid fit. Spicy chicken. Aaron did.
[00:04:20] Speaker A: Hey, put a little cheese on that too for me. Rome.
[00:04:24] Speaker B: You know, despite the win today, man, it was a great series. I know the daughters won 31 in Atlanta.
Clutch hitting, though. It's been a different person. It was Key K yesterday. It was pages today. I'm saying pages because sale. You know, I'm working on a standup joke there, there's something there, but
[00:04:44] Speaker A: I'm not, I'm not laughing right now.
[00:04:46] Speaker B: Well, I, I, I think it's, you know, maybe you got to turn the pages, bro, because your team lost.
[00:04:51] Speaker A: I already have. I've turned the pages and I have, I have a White Sox logo on the next page. So there I am.
[00:04:56] Speaker B: You know, I believe you. I.
You probably got a jersey ordered already.
[00:05:01] Speaker A: If they win the World Series, I'll wear a jersey. No doubt.
[00:05:04] Speaker B: Ship.
[00:05:05] Speaker A: Oh, no doubt, man. Still on discount. White Sox jerseys are discounts, bro.
[00:05:10] Speaker B: There's no discount right now.
[00:05:12] Speaker C: Aaron's just a loyal friend. Rome, that just is, you know. You know, joining in the cause against the evil empire that is the Dodgers, who are destroying the sport.
[00:05:21] Speaker B: They're not.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: I think what I'm gonna do, Rome, is I'm just gonna expect Dodgers to win every series and hope they lose because I'll eat the loss. But if they win, I make a profit. That's what I'm gonna do.
[00:05:31] Speaker B: You've done that before.
[00:05:32] Speaker A: I'm gonna do it again.
I might go a grand. I might go a grand on the Dodgers against the Brewers.
[00:05:37] Speaker B: Let's do that. The Lakers.
[00:05:38] Speaker A: Yeah. And now the Lakers are a mess.
[00:05:40] Speaker B: I love it.
Who says they're a mess?
[00:05:43] Speaker A: They're a mess.
[00:05:44] Speaker B: Snowtime Lakers. You like the Snowtime Lakers? Everyone's feeling good about the Snowtime Lakers.
[00:05:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:48] Speaker C: Who's everybody?
[00:05:49] Speaker B: Yeah, everybody in la.
A lot of people that.
[00:05:53] Speaker C: That's all the, that's all your Laker fans that, like, they decided not to be Laker fans for the last decade because they signed LeBron. It's those guys.
[00:05:59] Speaker B: No, I don't think no one jumps there.
100 we just weren't sold that he was, you know.
[00:06:06] Speaker C: 100 I, I, I know people for a fact that are related to this fan. Like, I won't be a fan while LeBron's here.
[00:06:11] Speaker B: I still root for the team while LeBron was on there. I'm like, well, I get it.
[00:06:15] Speaker A: You're.
[00:06:15] Speaker C: You're a real fan. I get it. But there's. There was a segment of the population
[00:06:18] Speaker B: like, I'm not missing him.
But anyways, you guys always do this every time. My daughters are doing well. You guys all right?
[00:06:28] Speaker A: They don't move the needle.
[00:06:29] Speaker B: They move the needle so much. Did you watch the post game?
[00:06:33] Speaker C: They're the reason we're, they're the reason we're not gonna have baseball next year.
[00:06:36] Speaker B: Such a good team. They're one of the reasons. The other reason is because every other owner is cheap and they want to make more money because they're seeing how much the valuations are going cheap.
[00:06:43] Speaker A: I mean, the Dodgers owner is just stealing money here. He doesn't even have any money.
[00:06:48] Speaker B: Ah, no, he has money. But
[00:06:54] Speaker C: it will be an interesting case study for both the MLB PA and the owners. When you look at, let's say that the Dodgers go to the World Series no matter what, of the remaining three teams in the AL basically all have payrolls like $100 million. Or less. They will all be like so like I mean they were saying basically the, I think the White Sox and the Rays have a combined payroll less than you know, Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jays, like all these teams. And so regardless who comes on the
[00:07:23] Speaker B: AL 150 if that about 100.
[00:07:27] Speaker C: Yeah. The White Sox in Tampa Bay is about 100. When you put like all their like
[00:07:31] Speaker A: where the guardians like in the 7080
[00:07:33] Speaker C: they're pretty, they're about the same. There's like active payroll and different kind of metrics. Like there was, you know, but it's. They're. They're all about like 100 million dollar ish range. When you're looking at the total stuff
[00:07:43] Speaker A: like they're basically what show a Tani's getting paid pretty much
[00:07:49] Speaker B: like in the 175 range.
[00:07:50] Speaker A: No, not even close.
[00:07:51] Speaker C: No, they're all the guardians are. They're. They're the only person they're paying is Jose Ramirez. And so like everybody else is lower. So I mean yeah, you're looking at three teams that basically only pay like one guy ish and their total roster. And so baseball's awesome.
I mean that's going to be the, this would be the interesting case like is the MLBA is going to look like hey, you have this, you have these two teams in the ALCS regardless you have the combined payroll less than the Dodgers and they're still able to compete in this league and et cetera, et cetera. But the National League has been the, the opposite with the Dodgers. You know, Braves spent a good amount of money. Padres aren't necessarily cheap either. They, they have some big contracts for the Padres.
So I think you do have a dichotomy between the two, the two leagues. But it'll be, it'll be interesting on like the arguments used on, on this, this postseason because the owners are trying to say like oh, we have no competitive balance but you know, you're able to have. The White sox got like 16 guys they just called up to the majors this year that are making up their postseason roster and they will make it so you know, prove it can prove
[00:08:52] Speaker B: some different points from the play. We, we've been talking about it since like the offseason since like the draft. Man, they, they are primed five years from now. Man, they're, they got a nice little run here. So it's gonna be pretty crazy. They're definitely overperforming right now, but it's pretty fun to watch. It's a fun young team.
Quick though, let's Recap. Dodgers, Braves.
Sale was lights out for about three innings, and he finally got, you know, a few minor mistakes, and it didn't make it out of the fifth inning, but they're able to capitalize.
Yoshi stayed in for seven innings. They had a jam, I think, in the fifth.
[00:09:29] Speaker A: Game three here, Rome. Are we going back in time to game a little bit? Game four. Okay. You know, I just. I just, you know, you know, we're
[00:09:36] Speaker B: talking about the Series, bro.
We're talking about the Series.
[00:09:39] Speaker A: You know, talk about game two. If you want to talk about game two. That's the only bright spot in the series. You want to go back that far?
[00:09:45] Speaker B: Yeah. This is why we got to bring more people that actually want to talk baseball on this pod. Because
[00:09:51] Speaker C: is it more. Is it more people talking baseball is like, we only talk about baseball when the Dodgers actually win a game.
[00:09:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:58] Speaker B: You guys don't want to talk about it when the Dodgers win a game?
[00:10:00] Speaker C: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. We try to do the mlb.
[00:10:03] Speaker A: We'll talk Dodgers, Rome, if you want.
If you can be objective.
[00:10:08] Speaker C: There's a running stick. There's a running stick on the show. Rome. We don't do the baseball preview until the All Star break happens. And you're like, yeah, we'll do a postseason preview. And we didn't do it until the
[00:10:15] Speaker A: dog preview that we did, like, July 31st. I think we hit 90 of that. Correct. Of teams that were dead back then.
[00:10:23] Speaker B: I'd like. I'd like to review it, actually.
[00:10:25] Speaker A: I have to review it.
[00:10:26] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:10:27] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:28] Speaker B: Anyways, I thought it was a fun series bracelet. Pretty. Pretty. Well, it's pretty hostile down in Atlanta, but the Dodgers, they're just well tested in these trenches. Some guy always comes through clutch when it matters most. And give the props to the Braves, man.
Even the Dodgers were really scared about their lineups, about their starting pitching, because they moved even Shohei down to the fifth position.
He was reaching for a lot of,
[00:10:57] Speaker A: you know, showy, stunk, man. Let's be honest.
[00:11:00] Speaker B: He was bad, dude. He was bad.
[00:11:02] Speaker A: I mean, that dude. That dude was chasing pitches that even I wouldn't chase.
[00:11:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:06] Speaker A: Let's be real.
[00:11:07] Speaker B: They were pretty terrible, but everybody else kind of stuck around, and Diaz all of a sudden looks like he's turning back around right at the right time. This guy hasn't done anything all year long. Kind of been. They've been kind of shuffling around the fifth, sixth inning, you know, setting up the other closers. Now, you know, he has a couple good, outstanding performances. For the Dodgers. So I was worried going to this postseason now I'm feeling pretty good. They showed out and I'm excited for the next series.
[00:11:39] Speaker C: Well, I'll tell you from the Dodgers, I'll go back to the potential lockout. The argument for the the owners that the Dodgers are ruining the sport is that you can pay your number eight hitter four years and $240 million in the playoffs. So Kyle Tucker.
[00:11:56] Speaker B: Yeah, well, he's not supposed to be
[00:11:57] Speaker C: the eighth hitter, but he was in one of your deciding games.
[00:12:03] Speaker B: He was dog doo doo all year round and then finally started warming up in the last what, three, four weeks.
[00:12:09] Speaker A: If you look at Kyle Tucker's career postseason going back to Houston, he's always been really good in the postseason.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:14] Speaker A: So I mean, I think the Dodgers are hoping he turns around.
Otani's definitely not right. So I don't think he's gonna write that ship. That's not to say he might not have a game here or there where he gets two home runs.
[00:12:24] Speaker B: I thought they saddle for this series.
[00:12:27] Speaker A: No, I just think his presence in the lineup is good.
Muncie three home runs in the series.
Nice for him. I mean he either basically strikes out or hits a home run nowadays, bats nothing. Today Freeman, what he had what, one home run in the last 66 games of the regular season? Whatever, something like that. And then he has two in this series.
[00:12:47] Speaker B: Yeah, amazing.
[00:12:49] Speaker A: But Freeman, Freeman's a great postseason hitter. I mean getting back to his dam of Atlanta and what he's done here with the Dodgers to win some World Series.
Andy Paul has. Save it for next year. If there is a next year. I did trade for you in the big league fantasy baseball. So that was a still I got good contract. So I'm hoping he's performs next year. But look at your boy. Cyber West Rome. He even said he's got Milwaukee to win this World Series. So it looks like even he's a bigger. He might be a bigger Dodger guy than you. He is. And he's got the preseason pick. He's got the brewers to win the World Series. They're up what, three one right now in the Padres.
But yeah, the Braves, I mean, couldn't capitalize. I mean what they get 17, 18 walks in this series and none of those guys came around the score. They just never got the clutch hit. Paw has in the seventh, bases loaded, full count, hit 100 mile per hour fastball right up the middle, two outs. That was the difference. I mean look at.
Say what you want about the Dodgers, I mean, they got a lot of guys that are overpaid and have underperformed, but they do have guys that step up in the clutch, whether it's Muncie, Tucker bats, Freeman, a lot of different guys can do it. That's what makes their lineup so deep. Or Jason pointed out, Look, Tucker's batting eighth on 98 of the teams. He'd be batting between three and five, even struggling as bad as he is pitching. They've got the best starting pitching in baseball. Their bullpen is solid. Diaz came through here, but he's always owned Atlanta. We'll see what he does going forward.
But Brewers, I mean, like, they, that was the worst probably postseason I seen last year when they got swept by the Dodgers, what, five runs and four games total. Hopefully they can put up a better showing against la.
But I think all the excitement really is in the American League right now with the three teams, hundred million dollar payroll or less. That's, that's where my focus is. Now that baseball fantasy is over, I'm going shifting to the American League, the White Sox, Jason's team.
[00:14:35] Speaker B: All right, thoughts on Tampa Bay taking care of the Yankees real quick.
[00:14:40] Speaker C: I mean, we said it the other night. I mean, Tampa has been the best team in the American League the entire season. And I think they, you know, they go under, under the radar. I think they do all the small things. Well, you mentioned the controversial kind of play. I think the umpires absolutely got that right. The fan was clearly over the railing. It hit the, it was a great replay shot they had right down the fence line, hit the fan right in the wrist, over the top of the fence. I think the questioning more was like, what were they going to do with the runner? They made the assumption that the runner was basically running from first and it would have been a double, so he would have made the score. And so that was, I think the assumption. So really took, you know, if you want to say, took one run off the board, but it wouldn't have been off the board, it would have been a double. And I think the umpires absolutely got that right. But I mean, overall for the, for the Rays, man, they got basically one. One star, you can say in Junior Camillero, but like the rest of their team is just a bunch of guys who do things well. They don't have like a killer lineup. They have a bottom half of the order that, you know, isn't really great, but they do all the small things well from a defensive standpoint and everything to back up, you know, some really good pitchers that they have on staff. But I mean, all season the Rays were just better. And I think it just showed up in this, in this Yankee Series, you know, But I mean, if you're a New York Yankees fan, like, hey, you only finished four and a half games behind the Rays. You had an offense that was, you know, supposed to be stacked. You had these paid, these big name pitchers. They're supposed to come up in big moments and it just wasn't there.
And I think it's the Yankees, you know, checking to look themselves in the mirror again, although I don't know what it's going to be. You know, they haven't won the World Series Since. Was it 2009, Aaron? Since the A rod World Series with them? I think it's 2009.
[00:16:19] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:19] Speaker C: And so, you know, they've gone all this time. I know when you look at sports media, New York, NY market gets a lot of talk about and it's always about Aaron Boone and, you know, this and that. I'm actually surprised from my GM with Brian Cashman that there isn't more talk about him and the record and what they're you had, you got. You know, Stanton wasn't even, I think even in the wild card round like roster and then they put him on in this one, but Judge was out and a lot of different things when it comes to, you know, the overall roster construction of this team and to be competitive, to get it done in the postseason. It just hasn't been there for them. But I think props to Tampa Bay. If, if Tampa Bay had won a championship over the last like 15 years, I think they would get a little more respect. But when you look at their repeated success for a team that basically spends no money, has minimal resources, they maximize everything they do. You know, they're the model for the players association as far as like, hey, the model works, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But you know, they don't have to pay really anyone much, but they invest in the right people. There's a, there's a development and a teaching process that goes to the true money.
Yeah. To play the type of baseball they were. All you're, all you're missing is a success. And I know the, you know, all you got to win or it's nothing type attitude, you know, in our sports society and everything like that. But the Rays year after year are not a sexy team. But they are going to, they are going to win the number of games, win a division, be competitive, you know, waiting for the ball to go in the Right way. This could, this could be the year where it goes up and they would, you know, if they were to get past the guardian slash White SOX in the ALCs and GO and play, say the Dodgers, and it'd be the ultimate dichotomy of like, you know, maximizing resources versus a team that, you know, can spend it all. I think the difference with the Dodgers and being interesting theories with them in the race is that, you know, the Dodgers got some X rays, people there that do some of what the rays do, but also have the money to spend on the big names. So that'd be an interesting series if you went down to it. I'm not rooting for it obviously, because the White Sox need to win that series, but, but I think props to the race because I think just, I think there just means it's, it's a team that I don't. When they go, when they play in this series, it's basically a home game for the Yankees because there isn't a ton of Rays fans to fill that out. It's like, you know, all the New York retirees down there, it's their, their away game that they can go to the game down there in Tampa, so. But big win for them.
[00:18:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I got the payroll here, season ending payroll, which is different than what the team's actually spent. There's like, you know, several million, like on different salaries that don't get accrued on that. But I do have the Cleveland Guardians. So you're right. 74.2 is, is their official season ending payroll. Everything else with other players ends up being 88 for the year. Tampa Bay raised 98.3 with everything else, 114mil. And then White Sox just above that at 98. Technically lower for the seasoning payroll, but just above it with everything else, player acquisitions, bonuses and stuff like that. So you're right.
Crazy. I didn't know.
[00:19:16] Speaker A: But I'd be curious, Rome, since you're searching things. When's the last time a Major League baseball team won the World Series of a payroll under a hundred million? I'm curious.
[00:19:27] Speaker B: I'm pretty sure Jason's looking it up right now, so I'll just hold off on that.
[00:19:31] Speaker A: But yeah, going back to Jason's point on Tampa, Romy mentioned, look at Tampa's basically the modern day Moneyball Oakland A's of the old time, right? They've taken it to another level. They've had more success in the postseason.
They've been to two World Series as a franchise, if you want to count the COVID year when they lost to the Dodgers and then they lost to the Phillies and early 28, 9, 10, somewhere around that span. I remember because I had a prop bet on the Phillies to win the World Series at that time before the season started. I can't say but they've done a great job with their organization. Kevin Cash has been a great manager. They get the most out of their talent analytics wise they, they find ways to win games. Series they found, they find ways. And the White Sox, which look I do believe will beat the Guardians tomorrow, finish that series off. I think it'd be an exciting series.
Both teams, you know, energetic, young, you know, trying to get to a World Series.
So it'll be, it'll be interesting to see how the American League finishes up. Going back to the Yankees. You guys touched on it. Cashman Boone, are these guys back next year as one gone. I mean Aaron Boone, it seems like he's on a year to year like
[00:20:41] Speaker B: well they'd be both gone but you know the old time runners freaking five years ago. Yeah, they would have not made it this far. And granted like this is probably the most stability the Yankees have ever had and it just has to be able to convert and their players have always injured. So Stan, I mean Judge.
[00:20:58] Speaker A: Well, Stan's been injured ever since he signed that 13 years 330 million dollar contract.
I, I don't know what's going on with him. He's. What has he got Tommy John? He's got a calf, he's got a knee, he's.
[00:21:10] Speaker B: He's got a rich man syndrome. You know, once you get rich you don't want to do
[00:21:15] Speaker A: Judge. He has a great year, then the next year he stubs his toe and he's out three months. And then there's always something going on there. I, I don't know. Defensively they're bad. Every year that cost him, you know what four errors in game two.
[00:21:28] Speaker B: Right.
[00:21:29] Speaker A: You know, a year and a half ago we talked about how they had three errors in a game five or the World Series in which they were up five nothing and cost himself a win that game.
Look, if you're not a good pitching staff defense and get timely hitting in the playoffs, it's a bad recipe. And you know we go back to the Braves Dodger Series like the Dodger Braves could not hit in clutch moments when they had runners on base. The Dodgers were able to kind of the same in this series as well. Tampa Bay was able to execute, play good defense, good pitching. That's what wins in the playoffs.
[00:22:01] Speaker B: Yeah. What's the score right now? Brewers 3:1, it looked like still 3:1, mid seven. Okay, so if I, if I, I
[00:22:09] Speaker C: wanted to reverse engineer some of the questions asking there. So a couple, a couple different, you know, websites, looking stuff around. So the 2017 Astros were the 17th highest payroll in the league. So that was the. The highest payroll. They were still at 138 million as the 17th highest payroll in 2017 before
[00:22:27] Speaker A: they had to start paying Altuve and all those guys. I'm assuming it was, yeah. Okay.
[00:22:31] Speaker C: Yeah. So that was 138. Now, two years before that, the 2015 World Series champion Kansas City Royals were at 126 million.
[00:22:38] Speaker A: Okay, so we're over that 100 million threshold.
[00:22:42] Speaker C: Yeah. So if you're looking at the AL, there's still something to be desired. You may have to go all the way back. I'm not looking it up, but like, if you look at the total rankings, the old Florida Marlins, Florida Marlins, 2003, they were the 25th ranked payroll in that time. And so I don't know what their final payroll is yet, but that could be the one in 2003.
[00:22:59] Speaker A: That was a good, young, talented team.
[00:23:01] Speaker B: Foreign.
What's up everybody? It is that time again. Time for Aaron's college football games of the week. Games to watch and plays as well. You can check out his. He's selling premium plays. Just want to plug that in real, real quick. Aaron, if you want to dish out in 10 seconds or less, where can they find some premium plays for additional gains besides what you give out in the podcast?
[00:23:29] Speaker A: Additional plays you can find@cappers tech.com search under at sources FT sofa pod and you can get additional plays. Premium plays there.
Been hitting pretty high. Rome. I think you checked it out. The numbers are in the green. Everything's looking good. 10 and 5 over the weekend. Premium plays, college football, NFL, little mixed martial arts in there as well. Hockey, baseball, everything's on the mix there. Parlays.
So enough. And you can get. Look, you can get daily pays for five bucks. I mean, look, that's a. That's a discount. Five dollars. I'm giving away plays.
That's a good deal.
[00:24:03] Speaker B: Sounds good.
Aaron's also on the sofa. Wise guys Sniper at Las Vegas. And Aaron, they gave out a few college football plays on there. So check that out. That is different than what we're doing right now. We got Jason back as well. We haven't talked college football with Jason in a while.
[00:24:19] Speaker A: College football season. This is week zero. It seems like last time.
[00:24:24] Speaker C: We're just, we're just doing, we're just doing, you know, the, the going through the motions like Notre Dame right now. You know, we're just playing, you know, we're just going, just, you know, just playing, playing these entry level opponents, you know, just getting ready for the big games.
[00:24:36] Speaker A: I guess, I guess he's, I guess he's gonna be selling us on Notre Dame, BYU a week early here.
[00:24:40] Speaker B: I guess so. I guess so. All right, real quick, Aaron, how did we do last week?
[00:24:47] Speaker A: Last week on these games of the week we were what, five and five, Rome. So, you know, 500. I believe we're three or four games above 500 for the year on these games of the week games to watch.
[00:24:58] Speaker B: Not great, but not bad.
[00:25:00] Speaker A: You know, like these, these are tough games. These are the games that general public is going to be watching. We've got you covered Friday through Saturday from 9am Saturday to, you know, 7, 8pm kickoff games as well on the west coast sniper. Like you mentioned, Rome, he's got premium plays. It seems to always be on Hawaii. So hey, you can be up to midnight watching those games.
[00:25:23] Speaker C: Well, Hawaii, Hawaii, he's got the ultimate chaser, man. That's after you, you know, trying to make a few shekels back there at the end. You're trying to bet on Hawaii big to get even on the night.
[00:25:31] Speaker B: That's what he said. That's exactly.
[00:25:34] Speaker A: Get even or keep getting more ahead. So yeah, catch up.
[00:25:40] Speaker C: I'm not on the sofa wise guys on the weekly, but I know how to play the game, you know.
[00:25:43] Speaker A: There you go, there you go. We'll have to get your little calci bets you got going on there. A little polymargate.
[00:25:49] Speaker B: We will have to. Yeah, I've been doing good on the, on the parlays, but not so much individual.
I'll figure that out. All right, so college football games for week six. We start with Friday.
Aaron has his Florida State Seminoles versus Louisville.
Louisville getting three and a half points.
Is that right?
[00:26:13] Speaker A: Florida State's favorite are underdog by three and a half. So Florida State three and a half. Louisville's getting lane three and a half here Rome what 59 and a half over under high total there. Like Florida State's coming off a big win against Virginia.
You know, I told you guys take that on the money line. They were plus two and a half dog The Sharps came in, brought that down to a pick them. So if you got on that line early, Florida State was the play. This line's Come down a little bit from four and a half five to three and a half. So maybe a little sharp action on Florida State. Rome, we talked about it. 4. Look, Florida State has not won a road game if you can believe this is the 2023 season. Now they go to Louisville. A team that's lost two in a row had high hopes coming in this year. They lost their star middle linebacker a few weeks back. The defense has suffered tough loss at NC State for them last week. I just don't see Louisville dropping three in a row at the at home here like Florida State like I mentioned hasn't won a road game in two and a half seasons. Last road game in the ACC ironically was a neutral side game if you want to call that in the ACC championship game against Louisville in the year they got snubbed by the playoff committee. But look, I don't trust Florida State here. I took them last week, don't trust them to get back to back wins here and they've had just terrible, terrible luck. Teams Friday night on the road in the ACC usually does not bode well for the Florida State over the last 20 years. It's been a curse of the program. I like Louisville here minus three and a half.
[00:27:42] Speaker B: Awesome.
Jason, any comments on that?
[00:27:47] Speaker C: I was kind of interesting where Aaron was going with Florida State on this one too because reading, you know the, the official yellow legal pad picks that were sent to me and stuff like that when it said Florida State plus three and a half and then I thought we were picking Florida State. Aaron made it felt, you know, some rejuvenation with Norvell and everything going down in Tallahassee right now. So I was expecting him to go the opposite way out of that. But I, I mean I think Florida State's one of those teams right now. If you think you can trust them, you probably can't. This is kind of a big game for them because they play Miami next, they go on their next game. And so if you're looking at wins they kind of need to have if they're going to try to salvage some of this season after losing the SMU and Bama earlier. Like the Louisville's game is a game you kind of got to have to go out and win and prove yourself.
I don't have a feeling strong way or the other but I'll trust Aaron knowing his Seminoles better than anyone on this pod.
[00:28:36] Speaker B: So yeah, there's also a little bit of rumors of who the next coach might be. I know Aaron had like this really great Mike Norvell firing clip that got some rounds on the socials, but looks like he kind of kept his job.
[00:28:50] Speaker C: I thought I heard it was Jimbo.
[00:28:52] Speaker A: Yeah, it is Jimbo.
[00:28:54] Speaker B: Getting a lot of steam.
All right, well, the thing is they want to sign up to a new contract because he's.
[00:29:00] Speaker A: He.
[00:29:00] Speaker B: Because he's still under contract for like four or five years.
[00:29:03] Speaker C: I was gonna say that. Are they still paying him? I think, I think Texas A and M still paying him too.
[00:29:07] Speaker B: So he's just like.
[00:29:08] Speaker A: He's basically got a hundred million dollars he's got basically hanging out there.
Look, Jimbo. Look, Jimbo will come. I don't know. Look, probably give him a 6 year, 5 million dollar, 30 million dollar total contract. I'm down with Jimbo coming back. I got no problem with it. Rome, we touched on this on the so wise guys. He kind of did the administration in the school dirty on how he left. He kind of rubbed some people the wrong way and what he wanted. Look, they got an awesome, awesome standalone football facility that Jimbo begged for. They basically pit 250 million in construction to get it done. As soon as the permits got signed, he signed with Texas A and M. It's kind of one of those, hey, we stuck it to you. But look, Jimbo's worth game with the ACC network.
He wants to come back, so we'll see what happens. I mean there are a couple coaches that are in the mix to get the job if it becomes available, which. Look, I don't see Norvale hanging around there throughout the season. But look, if he could beat Louisville followed by a win against Miami, it'd go a long way towards him maybe retaining his job in Tallahassee.
[00:30:10] Speaker B: All right, next game on the docket. Also on Friday, Iowa number 20 versus Washington visiting the Big Apple. I mean that and as in the Washington apples.
Aaron.
[00:30:26] Speaker A: Yeah, Rome. I mean look, this is a big play by Sniper, one of his top dog plays for the week. And it's Iowa plus three and a half and I'm going to jump on it as well. Look, Washington has barely been a disappointment. I mean the games they won, they haven't looked impressive. They've lost back to back games.
Played USC pretty decent there last week. But look, the quarterback play. They're paying $4 million for this guy. He's been up and down. I mean, look, he was rumored to be leaving for lsu. Washington basically was going to sue his ass. He pulled his name out of the transfer portal, resigned, stayed with Washington. Iowa's coming off that tough loss. We had him in the circa or not circa, but the Westgate college football contest.
I think Iowa bounces back here. You know, mentions maybe the backup quarterback plays but you know, I am worried about week traveling to the Pacific Northwest. But Iowa fundamentally strong team. You're going to give me three and a half. I'm going to ride Iowa, the Hawkeyes here, plus three and a half on
[00:31:24] Speaker B: the road at Washington guy then Jason or should we go to the next one?
[00:31:30] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, I think it's a good play. I mean I think the only thing concerning you're looking as, hey, it's a team traveling to the Pacific Northwest here early, early in the week on a Friday. You don't know what you're getting in that type environment. But I mean for Iowa, I like, you know me, I like to do a good look ahead. I was not playing any more ranked teams on the rest of their schedule, their vaunted Big Ten schedule and the rest of the way. So, you know, Kirk Ference there's probably got his eyes on the prize as far as like what this team could be. Could they be go, you know, 11 and 1 or whatever to finish the rest of this regular season.
As Aaron mentioned, he has the fundamentals. So Washington. Yeah, a little bit disappointed. I think that Minnesota lost probably more than last week's loss where this, you know, this could be a, you know, a showdown of four and one teams and maybe be a little something better. But I agree with Aaron. I like Iowa plus three and a half.
[00:32:17] Speaker B: So do I.
All right, so Aaron's last game for Friday, another Iowa school here. Iowa State versus the number eight ranked team in the country, byu, who just escaped last year or last week against tcu.
[00:32:34] Speaker A: Yeah, big game here like byu. We all know next week they've got Notre Dame coming in there to Provo. So is this a look ahead had for them? Iowa State coming off a big, big win against West Virginia which was a shootout. 45, 42. If you're BYU, you're watching that film. You can't come into this game taking this team lightly. There's a difference between 45, 42 and a 1310 game. Getting up for this one. BYU will get up for this game. 10 and a half. They will cover at home. I think they want to make a statement, you know, get ready for Notre Dame and who Notre Dame is. I think Jason touched on it on Sunday is what, a 38, 39 point favorite against Stan.
They will be more looking ahead to BYU than BYU will be looking past Iowa State. If you look, past Iowa State is. Look, they beat West Virginia. They only lost by three points in Iowa City against Iowa. This is a solid football team. BYU defensively will get up for this game. Offensively, they'll do a lot better because Iowa State does not have a defense like TCU does last week. I like BYU in this game. I'm going to go 31 17.
[00:33:39] Speaker B: BYU, 31 17. I'm gonna write that down.
Okay, Saturday's games, really big here.
I haven't heard much about my Corn Huskers here, but number seven, Indiana, who. I really can't remember another reigning national champion not being in the top two or three, being undefeated. They're number seven, visiting Nebraska.
[00:34:09] Speaker C: Oh, Rome, you may not heard a lot about the Cornhoskers, but here you're. Nebraska is one of your. Your favorites, man. Your head coach is. Is. He's making a play for Hollywood right now. I don't know if you heard that.
[00:34:18] Speaker B: I have not heard that. What. What do you mean?
[00:34:21] Speaker C: Matt Rule, man, he made his acting debut last Sunday on the HBO hit show Lanterns.
[00:34:29] Speaker B: I did.
[00:34:29] Speaker C: Didn't hear this.
[00:34:30] Speaker B: I. I did hear about that, and I just ignored it.
[00:34:32] Speaker A: Okay, okay.
[00:34:33] Speaker C: Just want to make sure. I mean, Lanterns was a great show. I particularly enjoyed it. It was a great D.C. d.C. Show that HBO gave a little more of a true detective type feel to it. I really liked it overall. Then the season finale, Matt Rule making an appearance, offering a kid a scholarship in the show. So. Had speaking lines and everything.
[00:34:54] Speaker A: That's ridiculous.
[00:34:55] Speaker B: That's ridiculous.
[00:34:57] Speaker A: Look, when you're winning in Nebraska, you start getting acting gigs. Rome. See how that works?
[00:35:01] Speaker B: Yeah, apparently.
[00:35:02] Speaker A: But look, Indiana, look, we talk about soft schedules. They're. They're at a conference schedule for, like, the next decades. Really? Really. Cupcake city. I mean, Curtis Agnetti, he's been, you know, he's been defending this team all season. Right? I mean, look, everybody's been talking a lot of smack on Indiana. They. They haven't looked that good. The quarterback play hasn't been great. Now they go to Nebraska. I mean, look at. Matt Rule needs a. He needs a big win. I mean, we always talk about Lincoln Riley needing that signature win.
Nebraska needs that signature win everybody talked about three years ago. Like, oh, they beat. They beat Deion Sanders and Chadur and Travis Hunter. Colorado sucks. All right, look, Indiana, defending national champs. 20 wins in a row to win this game in a crowd that sold out. What, 450 consecutive home games would be huge for Nebraska. I don't know if they win it, but I do like them to cover here. I think Nebraska has been undervalued. They've been blowing, blowing out teams that are not been very good. They got the transfer quarterback, came in from unlv.
This will be a tight game. I think they're going to give Indiana a run for their money. I like Nebraska here at home. Plus seven.
[00:36:13] Speaker B: Wow, Jason.
[00:36:18] Speaker C: I mean, it's a good play. I mean, Nebraska's doesn't have the. They had a little more tougher schedule going through the Big Ten. They still got to play Ohio State. They play Oregon the week after Indiana too. So I mean this is, this is a game you get them at home.
Aaron's right. India hasn't played really anyone impressive. You know, they've played, they're out of conference, but I think their only other thing they played like what Rutgers, which is, you know, bottom feeder of the Big Ten. So I think there's an opportunity here and I think there is a time in place of like, hey, when is, when is this coach going to take a leap? This would be a great opportunity. As Aaron said, I don't know if they win either, but I, I do like getting that extra seven points that Nebraska's getting.
[00:36:58] Speaker B: I'd be ecstatic if Nebraska shows up.
I'd be really happy.
[00:37:03] Speaker A: Look, if Nebraska wins this game, Rome will forget all about Michigan. He'll be all Nebraska. He won't even care what's going on in Ann Arbor.
[00:37:10] Speaker B: I probably wouldn't. I probably wouldn't.
All right, number 19, USC, one and a half point underdogs against Penn State. Who got annihilated last week.
If you caught that recap from the source from the sofa, you remember Jason's take and I want to know, is
[00:37:31] Speaker A: Jason on Penn State this week? That's, that's a big question. That's a big, big question.
He's no good. I mean, look, a smart guy doesn't double down on a bad product. And that's what Penn State has been here these last couple weeks. Look, they lost consecutive games. Did not look good against Northwestern. Usc, like they only played one road game. They traveled to Rutgers. Did not look great. Look, they barely beat those guys, gave up a ton of yards. They got a nice win against Washington. It's going to be a wide out. You know, Jason was talking about the blackout here for the white. So it's kind of a wide out. And down there in Penn State University, big game. Look, USC Rome, I think you touched on it on our last pod. Maybe Lincoln Riley talking about firing him. He's got a 70 million dollar buyout which probably be the second highest in the history behind Jimbo Fisher's 72 million that he got at Texas A M.
[00:38:31] Speaker B: They can't afford that. That's too much.
[00:38:33] Speaker A: Yeah, they, they want him to win this game and I, I think USC will win this game. He.
Look, they, they need to win.
They've been impressive on offense, their defense has been up and down, but they got a lot of young players on this team. Penn State, the quarterb.
Matt Campbell's, you know, I think he can probably start figuring this out, but this is a lot of players that basically were Iowa State guys. Iowa State was a 7 and 5, 8 and 4 program at best. Jason touched on it and a lot of people, that weak schedule that Penn State had, a lot of people thought they might go 10 to 2, 111 and be looking at the playoff. This team ain't going to the playoffs.
USC still has playoff aspirations. They need to get this win here. I'm going USC plus one and a half and to win this game outright.
Wow.
[00:39:19] Speaker B: All right, LSU number 10. LSU nine point favorites against Kentucky.
[00:39:29] Speaker A: Yeah, the number is high. Nine points here for LSU. Kentucky, real impressive. What Will Stein has done there's been really good. Like they came back. I think it was the biggest comeback in the University of Kentucky's football history. Coming back down 17, nothing to beat South Carolina on the road last week, that was a huge win. They went, they went for two in overtime. Converted it. I was on Kentucky last week. This week I'm on lsu. Look, Lane Kiffin and these guys have way too much talent for Kentucky right now.
Kentucky beat a South Carolina team that is a mess of a program.
LSU, they played, what was it? FCS? McKinsey State, whatever. McNeasy State. I don't, I can't even pronounce who the hell they beat last week. Was it 55?
[00:40:10] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:40:10] Speaker A: So they beat up on them pretty bad. They gotta get rid of big game here for lsu. They need to get the job done. I believe they will. So give me the Tigers of LSU -9 to go into Kentucky and get this victory.
[00:40:24] Speaker C: Yeah, Wilstein's been really impressive getting that team, you know, to a place where it's at, but still ultra competitive in the sec.
And, but for lsu, for all of the off season drama and everything that comes with Lane Kiven, this is must win. You got, I think you got three. I mean all of them must win. But these are the next three games they should win. They got Kentucky, they got Mississippi State and they got Auburn. Okay. Those aren't. Those aren't the cream of the prop. Of the sec. They got to win those because then they're going to go three straight back to back, really tough games of home versus Bama, home versus Texas, and then going at Tennessee.
You know, Tennessee hates Lane Kiffin from. You know, that was one of the first programs to hate Lane Kiffin.
[00:41:02] Speaker B: So bounced out to the year, right?
[00:41:04] Speaker C: Yeah, went to usc. So there is a portion of their schedule like they. They got to dominate here in these next couple of weeks and get wins with Kentucky, Mississippi State in Auburn. And I think that's what you're looking at is like they need to get everything tightened up and get. Get their best team and put their best foot forward. When they, when they have the showdown
[00:41:21] Speaker B: versus Alabama, Mississippi State's not going to be easy out either. That's a pretty tough one. Is that at home or. Or in Mississippi?
[00:41:28] Speaker C: That's at home.
[00:41:29] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, that were terrible.
Texas A and m visiting number 14, Missouri, fair by three and a half.
[00:41:41] Speaker A: Yeah, Missouri favorite here. Look, Texas A and M. Like, I've always been a big fan of that program.
You know, probably my. One of my top two, three college programs behind Florida State. You know, since we talked Rome, you got like 20 teams.
Jason, I guess, only has Notre Dame, but occasionally he'll dip his toes of another team here and there. Texas A and M has not been impressive on offense all year.
Everything seems to be a struggle defensively. You know, they're, they're good, solid group, but they've had their troubles against good teams. Missouri's quarterback Simmons leads the NCAA or is tied in touchdown passes thrown. He doesn't turn the ball over. Eli Drinkwitz is a great, great coach. Underrated coach. In the sec, we talk about Kirby Smart, you know, Lane Kiff and all these guys. This guy's really, really underrated. Missouri's paid big money to keep him. They didn't want to lose him.
I'm going Missouri here at home to keep writing that mojo. They're coming off the big win against Florida. They should have beaten Mississippi State the week before.
Texas A and M just doesn't have enough offensive firepower to keep up with Missouri. I like the Tigers here to win by at least a touchdown. So give me Missouri at home.
[00:42:52] Speaker B: Remember, Missouri was getting flack. A lot of people didn't think they deserved to be ranked. I think you were pretty strong proponent for them being ranked. And then they came up, big victory and they got rewarded in the rankings going up to 14 that's pretty impressive.
[00:43:07] Speaker C: Yeah. I think the interesting conversation, Aaron, we talked for a couple years now with when Texas A and M got Elko really thought that was probably going to be the right coach to get them in the right spot. But I mean, they're basically just doing the same thing over and over in Texas A and M right now. I think they have these eyes and aspirations that they should be like this topic, you know, top SEC football program. And every time they have maybe even knocking on the door, you know, they're just a step behind or, you know, they already lost two games so far. The Kentucky lost a little bit of the. Coming out in the, in the Bullstein era for Kentucky. But you know, this is, this is another one that probably is going to be a really tough game that Texas A and M lose. They're going to get Bama and Tennessee later in the year. But I mean, Texas am, they'd be spending a lot of money for just the same mediocre results every year. And I think this is going to be another. Speak to it to your point. Missouri getting kind of disrespected and they're going to come out and basically be the class over, you know, a school that's, I don't know. Are they still paying Kevin Sumlin over in Texas A and M? I'm not sure.
[00:44:08] Speaker A: They might be paying Johnny Manziel still too. So. Yeah, they're paying a lot of people over there in A and M College Station. Yeah, I mean, look, Jason hit on like, look, Texas A and M really blew up. Obviously they had the Johnny Menzel, but then, you know, Jimbo Fisher, what, 20, 20, 20 and 21. They paid the 25, 30 million supposedly for the recruiting class. A lot of backlash on that. They say they didn't, but yet the receipts show they did.
Mike Elko, look, the first two years there, he's turned the program around and done a good job. They've lost some coordinators and some coaches. That's what happens. You win, you know, programs pick off your coaches kind of, you know, with the nil transfer portal, all that to rebuild. The Kentucky loss was a bad loss because not only did they lose that game, they just. They got Will Steinle.
Jason mentioned Kentucky took it to him. Ah, that game wasn't close. They really beat him pretty good. Lsu again, another game that wasn't very close. Texas A and M is in desperate mode here. They could be losing five, maybe even six games this year. Mike Elko making 10, $11 million a year. They won't Be happy in College Station with that. But be patient.
[00:45:15] Speaker B: I think they'll keep them, though.
[00:45:17] Speaker A: Yeah, he's not going to get fired, but, you know, we know how it goes now. If you're making 10, 11, 12 million, you have a subpar year, everybody hates you. That's just how college football works. Yeah.
[00:45:28] Speaker B: All right, next game.
Number one, number 21.
[00:45:32] Speaker A: Wait, wait. Number one, is that a future? Oh, wow.
[00:45:35] Speaker C: He wants it to be the number one.
[00:45:37] Speaker B: Number 21 ranked UCLA getting 11 and a half points versus the 13th ranked team, Oregon, up in Eugene.
[00:45:50] Speaker A: I'm hoping this is a great game, Rome. I mean, look. Oh, this is an old Pac 12 rivalry game now in the Big Ten.
UCLA. I mean, UCLA hasn't been. Hasn't played a relevant game since. What, like the Pac12 championship game back in old Levi's Stadium when Jim Moore Jr. Was the coach for UCLA?
Look, the Bruins, we all know they can run the ball well. Their defense has been solid. Their past defense, not so great. They got a chance to get to their third win in the Big Ten to go 3, 0. Oregon. This is their first, no, second game because they did beat USC in the Big Ten. Big game here for Oregon. Right. They already lost at Oklahoma State. To me, the key will be can UCLA run the ball and can they get timely passing from the quarterback and make some big plays? I don't know who's going to be starting at QB for Oregon. Riola probably is going to get the nod. I believe Dante Moore is at least resumed throwing light practice.
[00:46:43] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:46:44] Speaker C: Rail is starting. They said. They said more's out.
[00:46:47] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:46:47] Speaker A: Yeah. So I think. I think we're in for a, hopefully a great game down there in Eugene. I'm taking UCLA plus the points. Eleven and a half. I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. As long as the quarterback, Nico, doesn't turn the ball over, they can keep it close. That run game is legit.
Oregon can be run on. We know Oregon's had some great games there in the past at that. That stadium should be a good game. Give me the Bruins plus the points. Oregon wins it though. Rome.
[00:47:16] Speaker B: I'm not expecting the win. I'd just be happy if they're. If they give them a run for their money next game. The number one ranked team in the country, Texas.
[00:47:25] Speaker A: They still got Texas number one.
[00:47:28] Speaker B: You know, they do have top.
[00:47:30] Speaker A: They might be the most irrelevant number one team in the last 20 years.
[00:47:34] Speaker B: I mean, I wouldn't say that, but it's not a. It's not a great Number one team this year is really weird. I'm a big Texas guy, but even I'd be the first one I met. Like, I think I text you guys actually of like, dude, this team's not number one when they're struggling.
Who is that against? Tennessee, I think.
[00:47:51] Speaker C: Tennessee.
[00:47:52] Speaker B: Yeah. All right, so number one, Texas versus Oklahoma.
Just seven points.
[00:47:58] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, the line was nine early in the week. Rome, like, I touched on. This is what the old Red river, but shootout, robbery. I don't know what they call it now.
[00:48:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:48:08] Speaker A: Down at the old Cotton Ball. I'm going with Oklahoma here getting seven. Both teams coming off a buy.
I know Oklahoma. The last outing against Georgia did not look very good, but, like, you get a bye week, you get some time to practice. Oklahoma still got a really good defense.
[00:48:23] Speaker B: That.
[00:48:23] Speaker A: That score is really misleading. Oklahoma's on the verge of scoring two or three different times. And they fumbled. They threw a pick six. Everything that could go wrong in that game did. The Sharps were on Oklahoma against Georgia. That was that night. That line dropped from 14 to 11. They're on them again here. And me, too. I'm on Oklahoma. I wouldn't be surprised if Oklahoma wins this game out right. This is kind of one of those games that Sark, you know, bye week, he makes himself look even more stupid with his play calling. So I'm going Oklahoma here, plus seven.
[00:48:52] Speaker C: As much as I want to get on the Texas head on this, I'm still. I'm still burning inside from Oklahoma. Laying in the egg at the Big House versus Michigan in week two. And you know, and you can talk about, yeah, they got a good defense, but, man, their offense is just atrocious. Everything that they had with this coaching staff, that was like, okay, we're going to fix the wrongs that the previous coach left behind where it's all offense and no defense. Great. We had this great defense in Oklahoma, but, man, they can barely score points. You know, their win versus New Mexico, 14 to 6, you know, 10 points at the Big House, 13 always like Georgia, you take away that 51 nothing win at week one, they basically had, like, overall nothing. I'm not as optimistic on the Sharps or anyone versus Texas on this because I'm not proven that this team from Oklahoma can actually play offense. They have the great defense, but I. Texas has enough offense to get by from a defense, but they also got a really great defense in Texas, too.
[00:49:49] Speaker A: All great points like UTEP with 51. Look, UTEP's terrible. They might be ranked 138 out of 136 teams. We talk about teams that should go to the fcs. Utep, that's one of them. New Mexico is actually a really good football team, but still only scoring 14 points against them is bad.
Michigan, Michigan defensively is really good.
Another bad performance like Jason mentioned. Look, this office does worry me, but the bye week. I like them getting the bye week. From what I've talked to people in Norman. They said there would be some improvements this week. I'm buying it. I'm buying. I'm taking Oklahoma here.
[00:50:23] Speaker B: Aaron pulling his sources from the sofa.
I love it. I'm still waiting to see Archie put together a few more things. Hopefully he stays in college another year.
I don't think he's ready to go to the NFL yet. So that little lottery thing is gonna have to wait another year, but we'll see. Man, I hope it's not that close.
Last game on Aaron Slate. I think that's 10 games total here.
Number two, Georgia versus number six, Alabama. This might be game of the week.
[00:50:55] Speaker A: Absolutely. I think it's gotta be the game of the week. Rome.
Absolutely. Look, I. You could make a case that this is number one versus number two. I do have number Georgia number one in my power rankings.
Look, there is a possible tropic storm headed towards Alabama there. So this could be one of those games that's in a, you know, rain, fall the whole time. Could be sloppy.
[00:51:19] Speaker C: Georgia, do they do it? Do they. Do the guys delay it like they do in Singapore?
[00:51:26] Speaker A: You know what, it's funny you mentioned that, Jason. I mean, I am hearing some funny things coming out of Alabama that they. They may. They. This game may be delayed. I don't know if the SEC is even looking to move this game. I haven't heard them go that far.
But we'll see what happens.
[00:51:41] Speaker C: Sorry, it was. It was an F1 joke for Sepang, not Singapore. I got my Malaysian countries mixed up right now. Just want to make sure, you know,
[00:51:47] Speaker A: some ring and rain in Singapore too. Might as well be delayed as well.
I just saw, what, a couple hours ago that Georgia starting running back is out for this game, which is a big loss.
Alabama's really looked fabulous. Look, I'll give Jason credit. He said he was on the killing DeBoer Alabama train.
[00:52:06] Speaker B: He was. And we were jumping off pretty quick.
[00:52:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I look, I like. I like killing the board, but I really didn't. I didn't really like the. The roster I was constructed. But this quarterback has actually been really, really good. If you're actually looking for a sleeper for the Heisman. This guy Russell from Alabama. Yeah, I think he's in the mix. And now you get to see him on prime time against Georgia. That defense, Kirby smart defense at Georgia is looking like the defenses that won the national championship. They're going to be up for this game, too.
This is. Remember they played in the SEC championship game, if you want to call it a championship game in Georgia just embarrassed Bama. They just beat the drum off of them.
I'm taking Bama here to win.
A lot of sharp action on them as well. The line came out originally. Georgia favored by one and a half two. They're now the underdogs. Bama with Russell the quarterback. I think he's better than gunner Stockton.
The Alabama's run game's been pretty impressive, but defensively they remind me of those teams that basically give up a lot of yards but pretty tough in the red zone and they get a lot of turnovers in a game that could be sloppy here.
Quarterback run might be one of the big keys in this one. I'm going with Bama here to get the win.
[00:53:14] Speaker B: Hey, Ben. They don't break. And after last week, I. I think I was telling you, Aaron, I think Florida State woke them up because they've been looking lights out since. Since those last five minutes.
[00:53:26] Speaker A: They turned. They turned the lights out in Tallahassee. Back against smu, you had the weather delay. You had the referees. I mean, Florida State really got jobbed in that game. Romans, you said that. The public has agreed. For me on my team, you've got a lot of support.
[00:53:38] Speaker B: I think on tick tock we got a few comments for.
[00:53:40] Speaker A: Yeah, so the. The video evidence is out there. You can check out that clip.
No holding back on that one. I don't know. The same reps are showing up for this game, but if they are definitely back. Bama.
[00:53:52] Speaker B: All right. We didn't do this last week, but do you want to still do locks of the week? I don't know how we're doing throughout the year. I think it's the same.
[00:54:00] Speaker A: We didn't do. We did do locks last week. Did we, Rome?
[00:54:03] Speaker B: We didn't know.
[00:54:04] Speaker A: We did not.
Yeah, let's. Let's. Let's do it, Rome. Let's do it here.
Let's go with Missouri. I think Missouri is a lock.
I'm gonna go Bama. Bama's a lock too.
And let's.
Which one do you like better, Rome? You like Nebraska or ucla? I'll let you choose a Third lock.
[00:54:26] Speaker B: Oh, man.
I probably like the UCLA one more.
[00:54:30] Speaker A: There you go. Let's go ucla.
[00:54:33] Speaker B: You got your locks. Missouri minus three and a half. UCLA plus eleven and a half. And Alabama basically winning outright against Georgia. But you're kind of a big Georgia guy. I'm kind of surprised.
[00:54:47] Speaker A: Look, Rome, I am a big Georgia guy, but I'm going Bama hero. I don't, I don't let lines and affiliates affect my, uh. Who I think is going to win a series, are a matchup here and
[00:55:01] Speaker B: something I think we should do from, from here on out for like next season and the seasons after. Aaron should start revealing his power rankings for college football right after week five. So hopefully we get that. We'll put up on the socials.
[00:55:13] Speaker A: Georgia is number one in my power ranking room. I think I said that.
[00:55:16] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Send me a list, man. We'll get something creative for you. Final comments of college football.
[00:55:24] Speaker C: We're in October right now. You know, you get the, you the big SEC matchup game of the week. I think, you know, you're starting to feel in the actual college football in the air a little bit. Starting to get the big boy matchups. Getting down the stretch here, you know, no more of the preseason, you know, squash matches anymore. Getting to some real competitive matchups now.
[00:55:42] Speaker B: It's real shit, man. It's real shit.
I don't know if I got.
There's already like numbers coming out, projections who's going to make conference championships, dogs to pick out. We got our Westgate to figure out as well. I think we're out.
[00:55:56] Speaker A: We got a lot, we got a lot to figure out in the West.
I mean, got a lot to figure out there.
[00:56:00] Speaker C: Rome. It's. It's your, it's your pick.
[00:56:02] Speaker A: You're.
[00:56:02] Speaker C: You got the three week curse. You're trying to break this or three picks curse.
[00:56:05] Speaker B: I'm feeling pretty good. I started running some numbers. I'm feeling pretty good.
Yeah, I guess I'll do it. We got locks of the week from Aaron. 10 games, three on Friday, seven on Saturday.
Who's got it better than we do?
Oh, buddy, you hear that complaint about Jim Harpal?
There's like a fan calling it like gridden. You know, who has it better than we do?
Everybody.
Losing it, losing it. I love it.
[00:56:38] Speaker A: Charger fans are losing it, man.
[00:56:40] Speaker B: What was that saying you could take the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the girl? Well, it takes the Chargers out of San Diego, but you can't take the San Diego.
I don't know, Whatever.
[00:56:51] Speaker A: Edit that part out room.
[00:56:54] Speaker B: All right, that'll do. His source of the sofa. Follow us on X Instagram, the socials. We're on Tick Tock. We're getting some views on Tick Tock. Check us out if you're on there. We got all our funny clips.
[00:57:04] Speaker A: We're. We're gonna have a few more clips coming out. Comment like it?
Yeah, all that good stuff, man.
Rome just sits on his ass editing and reading comments, so he loves to hear all your comments.
[00:57:15] Speaker B: Feedback to all the old guys starting to comment on Facebook. Appreciate it, you know, share with all your buddies, too. Around the bar.
Yeah.
[00:57:24] Speaker A: Is that our. Is that our target audience now that we're 40? 40 to 60. Is that our target audience now?
[00:57:30] Speaker B: We got, like a recent push of Mid America, mid-50s.
[00:57:37] Speaker A: I love it.
[00:57:37] Speaker B: Followers.
[00:57:39] Speaker C: We're open to all audiences, Aaron. We span generations and time zones.
[00:57:45] Speaker A: That is true. I just, I mean, it sounds like, you know, the 40 to 60 demographic is jumping on board, which is great.
[00:57:52] Speaker B: Well, it makes sense on Facebook. That's all. Who's on Facebook?
[00:57:56] Speaker A: All right. Tick Tock. So Tick Tock is the 18 to 35 or what is it?
[00:58:00] Speaker B: We're trying to go after them, dude. I know. I think we've got to make the clips like 15 seconds so they can actually pay attention.
[00:58:06] Speaker A: That's all they got attention span for.
[00:58:09] Speaker B: You know, by the way, I ran to somebody the other day before we go, and they're like, oh, maybe we can. Maybe I can help out on the podcast. Like, oh, like, you're a big football person. Like, oh, yeah, I play football. I'm like, okay, cool. Like, what do you do?
You know, I. I coaching this and that. I'm like, oh, so you watch the games? Like, no. I'm like, oh, so, you know, how do you stay on top of it? I watch highlights on Tick Tock is what they said. And it blew my goddamn mind, dude. I got so upset.
I got so upset.
[00:58:37] Speaker C: I mean, the thing out there right now is that, you know, the. There's generations below us. They don't actually watch traditional tv. That's just. Everything is on Tick Tock or reels or whatever it is.
[00:58:47] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a highlight. Yeah, that's.
You can't get it all. Highlight reel. Guys watch the games. Put in the. Put in the man hours on the sofa.
There's no other way. Order that Domino's. I'm not a big fan of Domino's. Round table, Pizza Hut, whatever you like.
[00:59:03] Speaker C: Well, I'M in Chicago, so I'm. I'm getting, you know, my favorite pizza here, which is Aurelios.
[00:59:08] Speaker B: Oh, man. Why don't you bring us a little deep dish back?
[00:59:12] Speaker C: No, not d. We don't know. Deep dish is tourist pizza, man. You get. You get tavern style pizza. I got some in the fridge over here. I got. I got the. I got the big one. I got. Still got some in the fridge over here.
[00:59:22] Speaker B: So here's the Chicago place around here. Supposedly, it's legit. And they call it tavern style pizzas, too. I haven't checked it out yet, but really kind of curious how good it is.
[00:59:31] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:59:32] Speaker B: All right, I'll do it. Source on the sofa. Jason, Aaron, myself, Rome, we are out.
