[00:00:01] Speaker A: Guys, we are back.
We're doing lines every week before the NFL weekend.
We're actually recording Thursday night, September 4th, as Dallas takes on the Philadelphia Eagles. Weather delay. There's still 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter to give you an idea of what time we're recording, so pretty exciting game so far. It started with the bang. You had one guy go out who went out and what, like, what, week 11 or 12 last year with the season ending. Ending injury, and he goes out like Aaron Rodgers style within seconds of the first game of the year. Pretty depressing. Grabbed his leg right away, and then seconds later, you get the Dallas Cowboys star defensive guy spitting in someone's face. And that was a big loogie. Man, that was humongous. If you guys saw the replay, it was pretty.
It was pretty impressive, so.
[00:00:56] Speaker B: Well, it was Phil. It was Philadelphia Eagles Cowboys defensive tackle Jalen Carter spitting in Dax Prescott's face, which. Yes, the. The socials are flying. Great camera coverage of the loogie by NBC on that. So props.
[00:01:11] Speaker A: It was beautiful.
[00:01:13] Speaker B: The Seinfeld spitting incidents of the infamous Keith Hernandez episode was all over social media. So if you.
[00:01:21] Speaker A: Was it already.
[00:01:22] Speaker B: Oh, it was all over. So if you are a big Seinfeld fan, like I am, that was. That's just a perfect reference in that point. So we get. We got to get Kramer and Newman doing the loogie reenactments, like the JFK movie from back in the 90s. So. But I was already flying, so great start to the season. I'll be honest, boys. I didn't see the start of the game, and then all of a sudden, my phone is blown up from nine different text threads of.
[00:01:49] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:01:50] Speaker B: Wow. What the f. Like, just, like, text grab their text. I'm like, all right, what the hell happened? And then, yeah, it was just somebody spitting in someone's face.
[00:01:58] Speaker A: That's funny.
[00:01:59] Speaker C: Yeah. Well, they. During that weather delay, they kind of showed a little more how the interaction began. But, you know, Dak basically spitting on the ground, but, like, at the feet of Carter kind of got him worked up. He kind of went over to Dak and said, you do that to me. You doing that to me. I'm gonna show you. And he gave him one right there to the old good face chest and pointed to the referee like a good quarterback does. Looks to the referee for those flags. And the referee is like, I'm right here, dude. I gotta throw it and throw you out of the game. So there you go.
[00:02:29] Speaker A: Why do they have to get thrown out of the game? That seems like a little too excessive for a little loogie.
Really cracked it down, huh?
[00:02:36] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:02:37] Speaker C: It's always been an automatic ejection.
[00:02:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Spitting's one of those things, man, you do. I mean, all the vile things that happen in a football game. But that's the. I think there's a respect type of thing, and that is just crossing the line.
[00:02:50] Speaker C: It's like, I think there was a guy, maybe it was in the NFL or college. It's like you can't spit and you can't give a wet willie to a guy. You can't do anything crazy like that or you're. You're gone. It's an automatic ejection.
Any saliva hitting another man and it's. It's. You're done, you're gone.
[00:03:06] Speaker A: It's very disrespectful, man.
[00:03:08] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:03:09] Speaker A: Every time I see someone do it in person, I've only seen it half of times, but fists are flying.
Yeah, I would have thrown out some hands. All right, so we're obviously not doing lines for this game, but we were talking about it before we hit record.
Which way were you leaning on this game before it started, Aaron?
[00:03:29] Speaker C: I was leaning Cowboys plus eight. I mean, it even had gone to like nine. I mean, originally, I think Roman, we were in Vegas, it was at six and a half. Then Micah Parsons got traded and this line kind of just skyrocketed.
Figured it would be a close game given that the Eagles are breaking in a lot of new pieces on defense. We're already seeing their secondary is kind of struggling in this game. Dax looking pretty good.
Dallas got the run game going and then obviously Ricardo getting ejected. That if you're back in the Cowboys, you have to like that even more.
Tough fumble there towards the end of the third quarter before the weather delay because the Cowboys are getting ready to go and score. Look like.
And you know, we'll see. Maybe the Eagles could end up finishing the COVID on this one. But I was leaning towards Dallas +8. And with you, Rome, I would probably lean towards the under as well.
We still might actually get both of those the way this game's going right now.
[00:04:19] Speaker A: Well, the reason why I would have been under is just because I don't know what to expect from the Cowboys offense. Even though I forgot, dude, they actually loaded some weapons there. And Eagles super bowl hangover.
These teams usually come out a little bit slow. So, you know, that was my reason for it. Jason, what were your thoughts?
[00:04:42] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll be honest. I. I would have went Philly -8 on this game too because just the overall Dallas off season and especially you know, the Parsons trade and not knowing you're going to get from this defense. The other thing you got Matt Eberflu sitting on the sideline there for the Dallas defensive coordinator. I think Bears Twitter going wild over the shots of flutes on the sidelines. So I think that's, that's a reason of his own to just take Philadelphia in this and know this team's about to give up a ton of points. So.
But yeah, very surprising start with Dallas. But I guess like a last year's last year kind of a.
I don't know if it's a bump in the road for what had been a good Dallas run with Dak and, and CD and everything they've done offensively. So you know, you maybe aren't as surprised because hey, we know this team could score points and they got the athletes there. It was just now can they stop it? And then the running game being so suspect is they really haven't found the answer in the running game.
Maybe have found the temporary answer. Javonta Williams in this game, we'll see. He's got two tds and it kept up keeping pace with Philadelphia throughout the game. But I would have taken Philadelphia. I just think, you know, class of the NSC as we've gone into here so far and I Dallas, you know, a lot of people, you know, thought this was gonna, hey, this is a like a five win team or something like that. Not knowing what you're gonna get. And it's a oneand done for for Schottenheimer. But people jumping off quick, bumping off quick. So. But we'll see. I mean good showing so far, but I mean up four Eagles driving right now. I think you're still standing in a good place where they, they still cover the eight.
[00:06:22] Speaker A: Most definitely.
So you guys ready? Guys ready to do some lines? That's our first one of the 2025 season.
I kind of like doing it on.
[00:06:33] Speaker C: I think I'm a little ahead of you, but we've got a big fourth down coming up here.
[00:06:36] Speaker A: I'm on fourth down as well.
But wait a minute. Aaron, you're always like 10 seconds ahead. Just like keep your mouth shut.
[00:06:44] Speaker C: I don't think they're gonna go for it.
[00:06:46] Speaker A: How many seconds you got right now on the clock?
[00:06:47] Speaker C: 7:30.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: Ah, dude, you're seven seconds ahead.
[00:06:51] Speaker B: I'm on. The same with you, Rome. All right, so I'm on stream.
[00:06:53] Speaker A: Well, we're on streaming Versus.
[00:06:55] Speaker C: Yeah, it was a false, it was a false delay game, so they're gonna be punting it away here, dude.
[00:07:04] Speaker A: All right, thanks, Aaron. You're like the kid who can't keep.
[00:07:11] Speaker C: So I didn't, There was really no.
[00:07:12] Speaker A: Drama there, but I got, I got.
[00:07:14] Speaker C: A seven second lead on you, so I'll let you know.
[00:07:16] Speaker A: Seven second lead. Yeah.
All right, let's do some lines. I'm gonna keep track on this. The little yellow notepad courtesy of Aaron Toller.
The official notepad of source from the sofa.
I wrote Raj on top. That's how I kept track of our college football and over unders before this.
[00:07:36] Speaker C: I still like to meet this guy Raj, you know, supposedly he's the money guy, but I've yet to meet him or receive a cent from him. Just saying.
Just saying.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Raj, Raj is in the hummus business.
[00:07:48] Speaker B: I'll be honest. I'll be on in this. Aaron. I'm not trusting Rome on his accounting here. So I'm going to take a secondary documentation here on the old Excel spreadsheet while we record here just to, just to keep it on the up and up because I, I don't want to share.
Yeah, I, I just, I just don't want to hear like this was stay away or, you know, that I. This didn't count.
[00:08:09] Speaker A: I'm staying away.
[00:08:10] Speaker B: I didn't do the research and blah, blah. Whatever. Whatever is whatever.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: You guys screwed me on that first pick. You guys screwed me on the first college ball pick. Whatever. I should just like, I should not.
[00:08:20] Speaker B: Aaron sends. Aaron sends the message out a. Come prepared with your two picks to the pod. You are surprised that we have to do it. And then how do we, you know, I own up to the loss on mine. Aaron had two losses himself. Take your L. Ron.
[00:08:36] Speaker A: All right, all right.
Let's get it going, dude.
First game, we got Chiefs and Chargers.
That is tomorrow. Friday night, over under 46 and a half. I'm writing down the over unders on here and then I'm just gonna write your team.
And if you're taking the points, if you're doing straight up, I'm not sure how you guys want to do it. I think it's always points, Rome.
[00:09:03] Speaker B: Everything.
[00:09:04] Speaker C: It's always points. Not some, not really. We don't really care about over unders. If you like a side on that, that's fine, but you got, you got to choose a side on the spread.
So.
[00:09:12] Speaker A: Yeah, I like taking the money line.
[00:09:17] Speaker B: There's no money line here.
[00:09:19] Speaker C: I love, I love a money line. Too on these eight point favorite teams.
[00:09:24] Speaker A: All right, Chiefs, Chargers, who do you guys got?
[00:09:32] Speaker B: I like Aaron's Chargers plus three down in Brazil for this game.
Gonna be goofy. Obviously with the travel down in Brazil, the field's always a little bit different. This seems like a Harbaugh running game type thing. There's gonna go out Chiefs. You know, they had all the luck on their side last year, but I think, I think old Jim Harbaugh is gonna come out with a, with with something here in this opener. I'm gonna take the. You give me those points plus three for the Chargers.
[00:10:00] Speaker C: I'm gonna second that. I like the Chargers plus three as well.
It's. They got the Najee Harris looks like he's good to go. They got the rookie running back that they drafted out of North Carolina who obviously Bill Belichick in that squad misses.
So. Yeah, I, I agree. I mean the Chiefs is Rice suspended for these opening games.
[00:10:20] Speaker A: Six games.
[00:10:21] Speaker C: Six games. So they're gonna, they're gonna miss him. Both teams have a good preparation. I think the Chargers are gonna win this game outright too.
But I'll take a plus three. But I do like the Chargers to win this one as well.
[00:10:33] Speaker A: Nice. I've been going back and forth on this because I don't know, I do ex, I, I, as you guys remember, I had the Chargers making some moves this year and going deep in the playoffs. But these first games overseas are really weird. I have a feeling Andy Reid is gonna come through on this one with whatever resources he has. Some bullshit's gonna happen.
Chief's magic.
I do expect the falter down the season, but I'm leaning on the Chiefs on this one.
[00:11:05] Speaker B: All right, Chiefs minus three for Rome. There you go.
[00:11:10] Speaker A: All right, going on to Sunday, the 10am games, we have Steelers jets set at 38 over under. Steelers favored by three.
Jason, go ahead.
[00:11:24] Speaker B: Well, I'm gonna make you happy on this one because I think this is an Aaron Rodgers revenge game. If you're gonna get the best Aaron Rodgers, it's going to be in week one right now. See what he can do with, you know, DK Metcalf and all of they got around him. Probably the best offensive line he's had in here in a little while. They usually get a pretty good offensive line for this team. Hopefully lean back on the running game. As we talked to in our season preview, how do we take some pressure off of Rodgers the Jets?
If you go back to our season preview, Aaron and I did not have the most optimism for the jets this season. They got my jai Justin Fields behind center, but I don't think it's going to be enough. Give me the Steelers minus three.
[00:12:06] Speaker C: Agree. I'm going with the Steelers minus three as well. Aaron Rodgers revenge game sounded like, you know, depending on who you talk to and who you listen to, he was interested in staying with the Jets. Aaron Glenn came in, put his fist down and said, get out of the building.
This is the big game for Aaron Rodgers. Big game for the Steelers too. Tomlin. If they're going to be a playoff team, they cannot afford to blow games against teams that are lesser than them. Jets just lost their starting offensive guard going against one of the better defensive fronts in the NFL. Cam Hayward expected to play, according to Tomlin. I don't trust Fields. He hasn't looked great.
Plus the Steelers know him. They'll have some schemes set up for him. Give me the Steelers minus three.
[00:12:46] Speaker A: Nice. I'm also going to go on a limb here and, and go on the over the side bet on this one. I think Steelers probably get 24 by themselves and I expect the jets at least get a couple touchdowns next game. Dolphins, Colts.
[00:13:02] Speaker C: Wait, wait, wait. So what's the side? You got this? Well, it sounds like he's got the Steelers. He just didn't want to say he's got the Steelers.
[00:13:09] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Although, yeah, I think they win by like four points.
[00:13:15] Speaker C: All right, that's fine.
[00:13:17] Speaker A: So, yeah, Dolphins, colts over under 46.
Pick them.
[00:13:25] Speaker B: Let's. That's a pick them room. So if you want your money line game. This is, this is the game where you can go Moneyline right here. But I think a lot riding on this game Miami we talked about in the season preview, you know, what is, what is this team going to be a pretty big test here early on in the season. The Colts just one of those teams in a bad division that they think they're pretty good and they can compete. Daniel Jones at quarterback has thrown shown some flashes but just really never got off the ground in the Giants Rome. You kept talking last year about Daniel Jones like you're, you know, you're very impressed and things like that.
Bewildered. Yeah, you, you liked you some Daniel Jones last year. Aaron knows.
[00:14:04] Speaker A: So did Aaron. Did too. Aaron was jacking him off the whole season.
[00:14:09] Speaker B: I don't know about that, but crazy either way. I always like Miami in the beginning of the season, even though this is in Indianapolis, in the Dome. I think if you're gonna get this offense back on track, I expect some scoring out of Miami in this one. And Obviously their defense, we talked about their weakness in the secondary. They're signing guys off the street to play corner in Miami.
Miami's got to come out of the gates on this one. I'm gonna go with the Dolphins.
[00:14:40] Speaker C: Rome, you said I love Daniel Jones. I don't. But I do love me some Danny Dimes on Sunday. Give me the Coltson to pick them at home. Shane Steichen, those guys, their defense is better, their run game is better. I think they got the better coach too. They're better in every aspect. And a pick them at home. Give me the Colts and a pick them. I like the Colts here.
[00:15:00] Speaker A: You know, before the Dolphins season derails, I actually got them winning this game. They got more talents. I don't trust any dimes in the opener. And. And since the weather's going to be controlled inside, I think the Dolphins are going to show out. And since I'm coming out of retirement from fantasy football, I think I have a few guys on my team.
I'm rooting for the Dolphins.
So.
[00:15:25] Speaker B: Is it your team or is the computer's team?
[00:15:27] Speaker A: Since you're auto dragged the computer, that helps me. I want to go back and look at the draft. I had the seventh pick though. That was my first pick.
[00:15:34] Speaker C: And here's. You give it the seventh pick.
[00:15:36] Speaker A: I gotta pull it back up.
[00:15:37] Speaker C: All right, that's fine.
[00:15:39] Speaker B: Had to be Genti or Collins.
[00:15:41] Speaker A: Call, gents. He was until 14. It was my second pick.
[00:15:45] Speaker C: Okay, so it was probably. It was Collins then. Yeah. No way Collins is going to the third round.
[00:15:52] Speaker A: Interesting.
I think Steichen loses his job too at the end of the year. By the way.
[00:15:59] Speaker B: That'S Aaron. We'll see, man.
[00:16:01] Speaker C: We'll see. Ursa is already gone. So we'll see if there's somebody with half a brain still left in that.
[00:16:06] Speaker A: Building or say the gm kind of admitting, but not admitting that they messed up on Richardson.
[00:16:13] Speaker C: Just although they messed up on Richardson, I think they already know that the.
[00:16:17] Speaker A: Babs are by bad there.
All right, Panthers.
[00:16:21] Speaker C: You may see him. You may see him come in and do like a little, you know, Tush push. He's. I think he can be productive doing that. Who, Richardson?
[00:16:29] Speaker A: I think it's Tush. Already been pushed enough by being on the Colts.
Panthers. Jags 47 over under.
Jags favored by three and a half.
This is a tough game.
Aaron, go first.
[00:16:47] Speaker C: I'm going to go with the Jaguars here at home.
Liam Cohen making his debut as a coach. Travis Hunter on offense. The two with the rookie offensive player of the year. And Thomas, I like the Jaguars to get Liam Cohen his first win. I like him three and a half here. I'm not buying in Carolina, still a young team, we'll see what they got. But I'm going Jaguars three and a half here.
[00:17:13] Speaker B: Okay, Jay Z gonna agree with Aaron on this one. I think if you look at the matchups for Trevor Lawrence throughout the year, this is where one he could shine. I don't think you've ever seen the best out of Trevor Lawrence. A lot of like overrated talk and everything but he's had some flashes and I think this is the type of defense right now here in week one where it's a favorable matchup. And what Liam Cohen had got out of Baker Mayfield in in Tampa Bay, a lot of the skilled players around him. Brian Thomas was a breakout star last year. Other pieces around him do we see, you know, the running game get going. If you look at what Liam Cohen did with like Bucky Irving and other running backs there, there's just a lot to like in the Jacksonville offensive side. Who knows what what Hunter does. Zaron's talking through man, he could be playing one play, two plays, 10 plays. He's going to corner. I think they're keeping that a mystery. So it'd be interesting to how they use him. But Carol, a ton of question marks with Bryce Young and everything around. They do got talent and they're building but there's still a little bit away. I think Jacksonville comes out and and they cover that three and a half.
[00:18:18] Speaker C: Yeah, I think you're gonna see Hunter, I think you're gonna see Hunter mostly on offense. He's listed as, you know, first team offense, second team defense. But you will see him, he's gonna play both sides of the ball and we'll see. Well, I think you're gonna see a lot of. We'll see if they try to get involved or release some quick screens, get them going.
But I agree with Jason what he said. I think Trevor Lawrence with under Liam Cohen, this is going to be his first offensive offensive new kind of school guy. And I expect big things from the Jaguars in this game and I like them. I like them by a touchdown.
[00:18:48] Speaker B: I haven't watched a ton of the preseason stuff but you talked with Hunter. I'm curious like you know, as the splits that they do him from offenses, defense and on defense, is he, is he coming down in third down situations that they go into nickel or dime coverages and you're getting on the field for a playmaker type Stuff, you know, an offense is he just kind of all over the place and it's going to be hard to find. There's, I think there's, there's a lot of creative things you can do with him and be like a decoy but also a playmaker at the same time. So I, I, that, that's, that's something that Liam Cohen can really have some fun with, but also be a nightmare problem for you not knowing when the guy's on the field.
[00:19:23] Speaker A: I would imagine him playing more like on the first or second downs. On defense, since you want your core guys on the third.
[00:19:30] Speaker C: I think it's probably more like Jason said, third down when they got five DBs or maybe six in the dime nickel packages. I can see that coming, coming off the field, get a little breather and then, and then as the drive goes on, come out. But, you know, it might be one of those things where they rotate. You know, every team's got three to, you know, five corners active on game day. So we'll see. I expect him, I think he'll probably play about 75, 80% of the offensive snaps and I wouldn't be surprised if he's about 35 to 45% of the defensive snaps.
[00:20:03] Speaker A: Nice. I'm trying to go back like who I had in the beginning of the season here.
That's right. I had them both.
Yeah, I'll go with you guys.
Jaguars minus three, three and a half. I think it's going to be right at the three mark, though. I think it's gonna be a lot closer than what you guys say are, are saying. I do like the Panthers to improve upon on last year. I do got them winning on the over for the, for the season, so we'll see. But I think, I think if, if there is a possibility Panthers could upset on this one, but I'll go with you guys as well.
Giants commanders. Commanders favored by six over under is 45 and a half.
Jason.
[00:20:46] Speaker B: It's kind of an iffy game for me. I'll be honest with you. You love Washington in this game. Obviously, if we're copping out to Rome here, yeah, I'll take Washington money line if that. That's on the table. Six points, quite a bit. A lot. But we haven't seen much from this Giants team under the day ball era. They got the playmakers with neighbors and, you know, Tyrone Tracy. See what they do with Cam Scaboo and, and some other pieces around it. But quarterback wise, what's. What, what's your boy Russ gonna Give us. Russ is starting right. I'm not, I'm not miss any news. Okay, so I mean what's he gonna give us? He came out with some flashes mid season, chucking the ball deep in when they bench fields and then kind of faded down the stretch where he's at Washington. This is a team.
Expectations are high in Washington for this commander's team. They're talking, hey, this is, this is where they take the step year. Can they get past the Eagles? Can they get to the Super Bowl? Six points is an awful lot. Heaven and Han back and forth. But I'm going to take the commanders to cover that six.
[00:21:54] Speaker C: I've been going back and forth on this game too.
I'm going to go the opposite. I'm going to take the Giants plus six. It's a lot of points in a divisional game. Giants got a good defense.
Russ, I don't trust him as the year goes on but like Jason noted, he's good early. I think he'll be okay the first month. I think he'll be okay in this spot. They've got some, you know, Tracy neighbors, they got some offensive weapons. Brian Dabel's a really good coach. Just hasn't been given a real fair slate there with the Giants. They're going to cover this one. I think Jaden Daniels leads Washington late for comeback win. Give me the Commanders to win 26:23 over the Giants.
[00:22:31] Speaker A: 26, 23.
Nice.
I think this is going over way over. I think it's gonna be a shootout. I think Russ is going to at least show us at least one or two nice deep balls.
40 yards plus. He's gonna show out. They do got some weapons. Scatterboards. You guys mentioned commanders allegedly had one of the worst offensive lines last year. We're talking on them. They actually did pretty decent. They showed up, they upgraded it. They upgrade a little bit. Defense is still rated but they did pretty decent last year as well.
The problem is though, their schedule is a lot tougher than it was last year. So even though I do expect them to see good success, kick it off. I agree with Aaron. I think it's be a close game and commanders barely ink it out with a game winning touchdown towards the end to win by three or four points. So I got the Giants with the points.
Next game, Bengals at the Browns over under 48.
Man, I already had, I would already had two stay away games.
[00:23:41] Speaker C: We know, we know you Rome, you have like, you have like five a week.
[00:23:44] Speaker A: No, no, I have at least three. There's at least three.
[00:23:47] Speaker C: I think Jason's got you noted for about four and a half to five a week. The overrun is listed at four and a half.
[00:23:53] Speaker B: Well, so far he's forced in 20, 25. There's no staying away. Pick a side.
[00:23:58] Speaker A: You guys are. Dude, you guys are.
[00:24:04] Speaker C: Bengals.
[00:24:05] Speaker A: Browns 48 over under.
Bengals favored by five on the road.
Jason.
[00:24:16] Speaker B: Cincinnati was a team in year one of the podcasts. I think we declared them dead for about eight straight weeks.
Yeah, you're pointing at me, Rome. It was me. I think it was.
[00:24:26] Speaker C: I was, I was. I was on that train too.
[00:24:28] Speaker A: Yeah, we were right.
[00:24:30] Speaker C: We were right. They.
[00:24:31] Speaker B: They were dead. It was just like they just, you know, they had.
[00:24:34] Speaker C: They did have balls.
[00:24:35] Speaker B: It was the undertaker, you know, after you just giving him chair shot after chair shot and he somehow sits up at the end last season, but just. Just couldn't take it. Then we hit him with the Buried Alive. But Cincinnati knows in this, they got to come out to a hot start. You know, the schedule is never going to be easy. Aaron and I, I think we both did. We both picked them second in the division. I'm trying to remember on this. I know I had the Raven. Yeah, I think I had the Ravens.
[00:24:59] Speaker C: We've got. We've got Ravens.
Bengals. Yes.
[00:25:02] Speaker B: Okay, so I'm pretty sure both those picked it, but I do think they need to come into onto a hot start. They drum. They dropped the ball in the opener. Right. Then last year they lost to the Patriots, which was. Was unbecoming. But this offense was just insane last year. The defense, I don't know if you could say the defense is much better or any better to a degree. I think so. Joe Burrow may not have to put up some Madden numbers still this year for them to go in there, but this Cleveland team, man, we're just all sorts of questions. Flacco's at quarterback. I think the difference in the game is where you get from a Joe Flacco.
He's gonna throw four TDs, but he's probably also going to throw two picks. And I think Burrow is able to get the ball up and down and not be as careless with the ball again. A lot of points in this game, too. Probably not the best. Sound betting advice, the amount of favorites I'm taking in this. But I'm just like Cincinnati -5.
[00:25:52] Speaker C: I've gone back and forth. Initially when the line came out about a week or two, I was on the Browns. I've switched over to the Bengals. I have no confidence in their defense. It looked even worse in preseason than it did last year. Al Goldman's. The group there that they have is not great. They can't cover anybody. And Cleveland's got decent weapons. Stefanski's got a good offensive game plan.
I'm, I'm worried. This defense for the Browns, they've had good success against the Bengals. They usually split every year. One, one. This is a tight game, but I, I'm gonna go. Joe Burrow hits Jamar Chase late. And on the Bengals cover, I'm going to go. Bengals minus five.
[00:26:30] Speaker A: Nice.
We all know the history of Cincinnati, how they come out flat every single year, lose their first two or three games, three or four.
I think this year's gonna, gonna, gonna be different. We have head coaching jobs on the line.
We have legacies on the line. Everyone got paid with the Bengals.
I, I, I, I think they went big here with Cleveland.
Aaron just shrugged because he's like, seconds ahead. Oh, my God.
So close on that deep pass.
Dallas has looked pretty decent, actually.
It's looking pretty good in this game.
I got the Bengals just like you guys, minus five next game.
So what happened? Like, the Eagles just, they just turn it over, right?
[00:27:16] Speaker C: Dropped two passes. I'm not sure if this one hit him in the bread basket.
He dropped the last one. He should have caught the last one. He should have caught.
[00:27:23] Speaker A: But he's in the air, though. He, he's super. That's a tough one.
[00:27:26] Speaker C: The one before, he should have caught.
[00:27:27] Speaker A: Nice throw, though.
[00:27:29] Speaker C: Yeah. D look good.
[00:27:30] Speaker A: Dax looking good.
[00:27:31] Speaker C: You know, he's lost about 15 pounds.
[00:27:34] Speaker A: Tad bit too much.
[00:27:35] Speaker B: You got to catch one of those last two, though.
[00:27:37] Speaker C: I mean, this, this is the interesting part here. They got three timeouts to stake, one break, one to ice. The over and cover. That's the real question here. This was something he would do last year a lot. Philly would cover late, so we'll see. Bad beats could be coming for some people.
[00:27:51] Speaker A: God damn it.
All right, next.
Yeah, focus, focus, guys. Over under 44 for the Raiders and Patriots. Game of the week, people. Game of the week, Patriots.
[00:28:04] Speaker C: Your game of the week.
[00:28:07] Speaker A: I think it's gonna be a pretty exciting game, actually. I'm actually looking forward to it. I am, too, because although I do like my Steelers and I want them to play the Jets, I'm not looking forward to that game. I'm not gonna be looking forward to a lot of games with this dude. I'm gonna be my brains out. But Raiders, Patriots. Sounds like fun.
Got Drake. May they see the next Tom Brady over There in New England you got the Raiders revamped with their grandpa coach and what's his face just retired today.
[00:28:37] Speaker B: Mari Cooper.
[00:28:39] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:28:40] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:28:40] Speaker C: After you got signed what a week ago?
[00:28:42] Speaker A: Yeah, it's what he was with the team for like one week. He's like ah this. I'm out of here.
[00:28:47] Speaker B: I'm done, man. Training camp, you know, one week.
[00:28:49] Speaker C: This is.
[00:28:50] Speaker B: I, you know, I came late and it still was too much.
[00:28:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
And, and he, and, and he was on socials. Like I have a lot left in the tank with no enthusiasm too. I'm like I'm not really buying it. And then just retires a week later.
[00:29:03] Speaker C: You know we've all been there where we kind of lied to ourselves for a day or two, slept it off and said you know what, this just ain't for me.
[00:29:09] Speaker A: Every day I go to my restaurant job at this current place because that place is a dump. That's what I tell myself.
I'll go first on this one. I like the Patriots. They're my sneaky pick to make it to the playoffs. You know, like my long shot odds. I think they're come out swinging. They're going to look good with a new coach guaranteed plus three to four wins improvement from last year.
Raiders should be exciting. Just not enough gas in the tank yet but it should be a fun one.
[00:29:38] Speaker B: Aaron, you were really excited about this one too man. What you got?
[00:29:41] Speaker C: I am excited about this one. I'm going to disagree room. I'm going with the Raiders getting two and a half here.
Veteran quarterback, veteran coaching staff, Chip Kelly coming over. They got better weapons on offense. They got better. They just got better players. The better players, better coaches overall. More veteran leadership, getting points. Give me the Raiders they win this game.
[00:30:02] Speaker B: I am going to agree with Aaron on that. I think the one thing when you get a new coach and quarterback coming to an organization, you generally don't get a coach quarterback pairing that has already been together. And so when you come into Gino with Pete, you know, reuniting from Seattle, understanding where the offense is at, some weapons and Bowers and you got Genti in the running game and just think of the defensive line that's been, you know, with Crosby and everything for the, for the Raiders. The Patriots are going to be better this year I think. I just think variable needs a little more time. But I agree with you guys. Could be exciting game here but I'm going to take the Raiders plus two and a half as well.
[00:30:39] Speaker C: Yeah, the wild card room like you said, Drake may like I don't know what we're going to get from Drake May. I mean we saw some flashes. Is he taking his team to the next step? If he does, maybe he can rally him late. But with Jason and I, veteran quarterback, they've been here. They kept the same defensive coordinator, Chip Kelly coming over Genti.
I say he gets a touchdown. Bet that on the prop. Bet, yes. Genti touchdown. I'm all for it. Bowers eight to 10 catches.
Raiders here, the better team, better squad, better players getting points. Got to take them here in week one.
[00:31:10] Speaker A: Disagree that they have better players in a better team, but okay. Interesting. Cardinals, Saints, our last morning game. Oh no, we have one more after that.
Cardinals favored by six and a half over under 43 and a half.
[00:31:28] Speaker B: Jason, six is a point six. I don't want to repeat the same thing I did last year because I thought the Saints were trash last year. And then they came, they came out.
[00:31:39] Speaker C: Scored 90 points the first two games of the year.
[00:31:41] Speaker B: Right. And then they, I don't think they scored any more points the rest of the season. But did Spencer Radler name the starter for this team right now? Is that who they say? Correct.
[00:31:50] Speaker C: Oh, and six career is a starter.
[00:31:52] Speaker B: Yes. He's going to maintain 0 and 7 and 6 and a half while high.
I don't even know how they score, you know, seven points in this game. So give me the Cardinals minus six and a half.
[00:32:05] Speaker C: Yeah, traditionally it's not good to take a seven point, basically seven point road favorite. But I'm gonna agree here. I mean Cardinals 30 year staff, the time them, I honestly, I don't know. We talked about it. The Cardinals are kind of that sneaky team, I think that can make the playoffs in that division.
[00:32:22] Speaker A: We did talk.
[00:32:23] Speaker C: They were there, they were there last year. They lost a tough game late at SoFi. Finished 8 and 9.
The Saints. I don't, I don't like anything on their staff really. I don't like their D.C. i don't like their OC, I don't like their personnel. I don't like their quarterbacks. This could be a long, long, long year in New Orleans. They may only win two or three games. I'm taking the Cardinals here. They'll win, they'll win by at least seven or more.
[00:32:47] Speaker A: I agree. I, I like the weapons on the Cardinals as much as Kyler Murray.
[00:32:57] Speaker C: That's a win right there. That's a win there.
[00:32:59] Speaker A: Slowing down here he is one day a Pro bowl looking quarterback, one day he looks lost in the sauce, but this is year two of Harrison Jr. They got a hell of a running back and James over there as well, who's also my fantasy team.
So I think they're coming out swinging. Saints. I have no reason to think that they're going to keep it close. Not yet, especially with that quarterback. So I, I, I think the Cardinals actually win big here, at least by 10 points last morning. Game on Sunday, Bucks and Falcons. Bucks favored by two points. The over unders 47.
[00:33:43] Speaker C: Aaron, big divisional game here. Big divisional game. Start the season. Pinnock's making his first start of a new fresh season.
New coordinator for the OC there for Tampa. I like what Tampa's doing. I'm high on Tampa Bay this year. They go into the to Atlanta, they get the win. Give me the Buccaneers minus two. I like to run game. I like the wide receiver options they got, bringing in the rookie from Ohio State. And their defense, major upgrade for the defense as well.
I like the Bucks minus two over Atlanta.
[00:34:16] Speaker B: Yep. I agree with, I agree with Aaron. You know, Pennix, you know, got a little bit of experience last year, but not a ton. I was waiting for the Falcons to break away last year, the entire year. I still think they got enough talent to get it together.
You know, if they anchor a little more to Bijan as we were kind of calling out a ton of last year to get the ball to Bijan, but you know, panics versus Baker. Baker's been great.
Still got Evans, you know, Bucky Irving. Great running back to, to, to compliment to take some pressure off of Baker.
You know, this was a really good team last year. And like Aaron said a lot to like about the coaching staff and what they've done over there overall. Give, give me the Buccaneers as well.
[00:34:56] Speaker A: Clean sweep, guys.
Yeah, I think Bucks are going to come out swinging, so I agree with y'. All.
Afternoon games, Titans and Broncos. Broncos favorite by 8 and a half. 42 and a half over under Jason.
[00:35:12] Speaker B: Man, this is, I mean, Aaron, you got me back. Aaron sold me on Sean Payton and Bo Nicks right now I'm just, I, yeah, Rome's shaking his head.
Eight and a half's a lot of points though.
Tennessee. This is gonna be, this is gonna be a bad week for me. I'm just feeling it right now, but I just, I, I don't like Tennessee that much and I really think Sean Payton has got something going on here. I think Bo Nicks is going to have a really great season this year.
What are we doing here?
[00:35:40] Speaker C: Hey, Ron, you need, you need two hands, bro. You need Two hands for me, bro. Get it right. Get it right.
[00:35:46] Speaker B: I just really like what Sean Payton's done so far with this team and I, I think it's a lot of points to cover, but this Tennessee team is still finding its footing and. And doesn't have the pieces kind of all. I think Calvin Ridley for Cam Ward's about all, you know, they can kind of rely on right now offensively. Tennessee's always historically, you know, struggled on offense, but yeah, give. It's a lot of points. But if you're gonna. It would. Maybe it might be a stayaway game if we play by the rome rules of 2024, but we're in 2025 right now and you must take a side. So I will maintain my streak. I'll take the favorite. I'll take the Broncos minus eight and a half.
[00:36:23] Speaker C: You know, I'm in the survivor circus survivor. The Denver Broncos are my circus survivor pick this week. And yes, they are going to cover the eight and a half as well. Huge, huge mismatch in coaching Sean Payne against Brian Callahan. Are you kidding me?
I like Cam Ward. I think he's going to have flashes even in this game, but throughout the rookie year. But Bo Nicks, this offense, they got a top five defense and like, you know, I love me some Sean Payton and Bo Nicks. Huge, huge mismatch in this game. Plus it's at home. The Broncos do not lose at home in September. The record even before Peyton got there. Even when their teams weren't very good, but still way above.500.
Broncos 8 1/2 win all day. Give me that.
[00:37:10] Speaker A: Nice.
As you guys know, rookie quarterbacks typically don't win week one. I think Caleb broke that streak last year, right? Is that, is that what happened?
[00:37:19] Speaker C: He didn't look good in week one.
Yeah, he got lucky for that one.
[00:37:23] Speaker A: I wish we could do like a. A replay of a clip because I was listening to the other day. Jason was like on her face about it too. Didn't want to hear about whether he played good or not. They just got the W.
So when is the win? Rome, when is a win? I do like Cam Ward.
This would be a stay away just because I wouldn't be sure what to expect with such a young team from the Titans. And then the Broncos, they're loaded on defense to load on offense. Bo Nix is on my fantasy team as well. So over under is really intriguing.
I'm leaning over on that one too.
Do you think like the Broncos get like a couple defensive touchdowns? Plus offense is rolling. They Kind of take the. The pedals back in the fourth quarter. If they've got this thing under control, who knows? But I'm with you guys. It's just eight and a half is just a lot, so I'm hoping it's a blowout.
[00:38:16] Speaker B: So I'm sorry, you got Denver eight and a half with us.
[00:38:18] Speaker A: Yeah.
All right. 49ers, Seahawks 49ers favored by two and a half up in Seattle. If you guys have not seen Seattle has undercover cops dressing up as Seattle fans this weekend to catch all the rowdy 49er fans and put him in jail. This weekend is making rounds on social media. If you guys don't not know 49er fans, Raiders got a bad rap, but 49er fans, they think they're better than everyone and they're trashy. So hope I don't offend any 49er fans as they listen to the pod. But you guys know you guys have a bad rap just like the Giants fans. You guys throw batteries at my Dodgers. So just want to spread the word here.
That's what's happening up in Seattle. But I got 49ers winning comfortably. Brock Purdy making a big push for whatever year this is, you know, for like an MVP type caliber season up in San Francisco and vying for. I have him like in a top three seed in that. In that conference. So Niners get the victory.
[00:39:25] Speaker B: I was feeling more confident about this game, I'll say, more than four or five hours ago, until I get an update that out of nowhere, Christian McCaffrey's questionable with an injury to his calf again.
And you already got IUK out.
You're putting a lot more on Purdy.
And you know, they may have been traded for Brian Robinson, and maybe that was the more obvious thing about what you're going to get from McCaffrey at a certain point.
Seattle, what are we going to trust in their quarterback situation?
You know, no Justin Jefferson on this team to throw to running game. They do got two good, solid running backs. What's the lean on Kenneth Walker and. And Zach Charbonnet? So it's close for me, but I think the Niners, I'm going to edge giving from. From Purdy standpoint, what he's been able to do, I'll get. I'll take minus two and a half on the, on the, on the 49ers.
[00:40:24] Speaker C: I'm going to agree with you guys. I like 49ers here. Two and a half. I think Shanahan given in the offseason, he'll come up a good game plan here. George Kittle's traditionally had great Seattle up there.
Run game McCaffrey. Whether or not he plays or not. They got, you know, Robinson, like you mentioned.
I think they've got a good connection with the young whiteouts. They have. And this defense. Robert Salo's back. I think that's a big, big boost for these guys. I don't trust. Trust Sam Darnold. He doesn't really have any wide receivers there that have really experienced. DK's gone tough. Tough spot here. But I like the 49ers to win this one. I'll say they win by like five points.
[00:41:05] Speaker A: What's gives us the ox fighting chance. So they did shore up some stuff on. On defense. And this is year two. Underneath their coach, they look pretty solid for most of the year. Last year me and Aaron were up on them. You gotta appreciate that continuity, I guess. But 49ers had a down year. They're coming back.
Lions, packers pack. Aaron's team favored by 2 1/2 with the newly acquired Mika. Micah Parsons. Or if you're Michael.
[00:41:34] Speaker C: Michael. If you're Michael.
[00:41:35] Speaker A: I was gonna say if you're Jerry Jones. Michael. Getting his own staff. Michael. I spoke to Michael.
[00:41:42] Speaker C: Michael and I had a deal done.
[00:41:45] Speaker A: Now I don't know if we have time to go into like, what you think about this Aaron, but I don't know if we've talked a lot about Parsons going to the pack. Have we?
[00:41:55] Speaker C: I don't know. Maybe we did at midnight. One of these shows. I. I really can't remember.
[00:41:59] Speaker A: Yeah, over under 47 though.
We'll let you go first and. And give it. And Give us your $0.02 on. On the new acquisition.
[00:42:08] Speaker C: Well, Rome, I'm gonna pull a shocker. I like the Lions here and I like the Lions. And an upset to win outright.
Everybody's falling in love with the packers here. And I think the packers are gonna be fine as the year goes on. But Jordan Loves missed a lot of preseason camp of the injury.
Mike is not quite right. Alexander one of their top corners. He's gone. He's gone to the AFC play for the Ravens. Detroit don't really know what to expect. Two new coordinators, but they still got great playmakers. I think they're gonna have a few gimmick plays. They're gonna get up for this game. Aiden Hutchinson coming back. I like Detroit in an upset at Lambeau Field. 24, 23. Two and a half points is just too much here to disrespect to Detroit to start the season.
[00:42:45] Speaker B: And I wish I would have went first because I really wanted to throw it at Aaron's face because as a Bears fan, I'm just really tired of all the packers love on this. I don' know what Jordan Love has overall proved that, you know, he had a good half of the year, you know, two years ago, but last year saw 10 games. We saw, we saw some flashes here and there. You know, we get Parsons and you know, I get every text under the sun about Parsons, you know, destroying Caleb and everything about this packers team, but overlooking what the Lions are. They are going to regress from last year. It was incredible season last year. They lost both coordinators, but it's still a great, talented roster that they've built and they know what to do. And I agree with Aaron. I think the Lions are getting disrespected as well. Give me the Lions.
[00:43:31] Speaker C: This is also a huge public fate too. A lot of the public, when a lot of the public gamblers are on one team, it's best to go the other way. Everyone's going to be on Green Bay. Detroit's, Detroit's the play in the side in this one.
[00:43:42] Speaker A: One thing about Parsons getting traded to Green Bay is first of all, like Dallas didn't get back. You're getting two low first round picks and yeah, yeah, yeah, they got a player or two back, but nothing's guaranteed on what you're gonna get in the draft. And plus to find out that Parsons may need an epidural every week. Like, how bad is that injury? Like, not enough information has come out about that. So that'll be a really interesting story to follow along.
You guys know I'm a Campbell guy, I'm a Lions guy. That might be my official unofficial third team in the NFL.
I, I got the winning comfortably in this one, at least by four points.
Lions plus two and a half.
Jason, you're about to say something or.
[00:44:32] Speaker B: I was trying to think of like, okay, the Steelers were your first team. Like, I, I couldn't even remember who your second team was it the Bengals.
[00:44:39] Speaker C: I don't even know.
[00:44:40] Speaker A: No, I, I grew up a 49er fan, so it's kind of like, okay.
[00:44:44] Speaker B: I was gonna, I, I, I was gonna say San Francisco, but it feels like you just shade, but you just.
[00:44:48] Speaker C: You just, you just on them like 30 seconds ago.
[00:44:51] Speaker A: I do, I do, yeah.
[00:44:52] Speaker C: And the city itself, I'm not a.
[00:44:54] Speaker A: Big fan of their fans. When I moved up here, it kind of killed it for me. I was like, ah, These fans suck.
And the stadium sucks too. Levi's stadium's not that good. It's like aluminum.
[00:45:05] Speaker C: That's what the super, that's where the Super Bowl's at this year. It is, yeah.
[00:45:08] Speaker A: Okay. It's bad traffic going in. Like whoever planned the whole thing, like, they hired the worst architecture, city planners. It's just a mess.
[00:45:16] Speaker B: I've been to worst stadiums.
[00:45:18] Speaker A: Have you?
[00:45:19] Speaker B: Like from traffic. Foxborough. It's like one road.
It's one road in and out to Foxborough. So he's just. There's no other way to get in and out of Foxborough. It's one road in. So I went to that Monday night Bears Patriots game a couple years ago and like, I think I got home like at 2:33 in the morning or something like that.
[00:45:41] Speaker A: I was like, when me and Aaron went to that Ducks game, the 91 game.
[00:45:47] Speaker C: I don't even know what happened there.
[00:45:48] Speaker B: I'll give Levi Stadium some credit. I went to the Bears last year. We discussed. Yeah, last year we discussed in the pod. I do like the little club level, man. You get like all you can eat. All you can eat food. They just got food out. You just get all you can eat food. Solid views.
So, you know, Rome, you made it.
[00:46:07] Speaker C: Like, were you in the club level, Jason?
Okay. I mean, given that you guys had nine yards in the first half of that game. Jason was stepping his face because that was the only thing good going in that game.
[00:46:17] Speaker B: I absolutely was. I absolutely was. Yeah, we don't, we don't talk about it. I was just talking about the stadium. But yeah, it's a new year.
[00:46:26] Speaker A: 49Er girl fans, though, that's, that's another topic. That's a lot of fun too.
Love those toxicas, as you may know. All right, next game.
I don't know how we went back to the 49ers on that one. Texans, Rams, Rams here by three points, 44 over under for our last Sunday afternoon game.
This would be a stay away for me. Just fy guys.
This would definitely be a stay away from Jason. You go first.
[00:47:00] Speaker B: I could see why you stay away in this game. I, I, when I go into versus the Rams, I'm always thinking Sean McVeigh, probably the best coach in every matchup. Just figures, figures out a way to get it done. Knows schematically where he's going. My question mark going in this, this season has really been Stafford, like wanted to get traded.
You know, they maybe wanted to get rid of him. Is he healthy? You know, they got some young you know, some young guys in the defense, which is pretty solid. They get rid of cup now they're going, you know, just with nua.
Got pretty good running back, but I, I would say he puts the ball on the ground a little bit in some key moments. That has been some questionable for the Rams. The Texans, you know, a year ago we're doing this pod and I'm pretty sure Aaron was picking these guys to go to the Super Bowl.
[00:47:46] Speaker A: The super bowl, yeah.
[00:47:48] Speaker B: So, you know, they, they, they get tons of injuries. Last year the offensive line was not, you know, protecting the quarterback, which, you know, really saw, you know, him take a huge like step backwards. But there's still a lot to like on this, on this Texans team. And you know, Demo Ryan's like, you know, he had a great first year. I think, you know, injuries are going to happen in the NFL. How do you persevere? They still win the South. They still got a very winnable division.
I'm going to take the Texans plus three.
[00:48:20] Speaker A: Took us through a loop, man.
[00:48:22] Speaker C: I'm gonna agree. I'm going Texas plus three as well. I mean Stafford, that's a big question mark here. Where's his health?
You know, he didn't, he didn't really practice at all. Did not in the preseason here.
Just kind of showed up about a week, week and a half ago.
Everyone says everything's good, we'll see.
Texans offensive line, four new faces. The offensive line was terrible last year. C.J. stroud was third most sacked quarterback. That's why the Texans really did not take that leap that I thought. As you guys just said, I thought they were going to get to the Super Bowl. C.J. stroud's one of the more elite quarterbacks, so if they can give him time and protect them, that'd be key. But we do know the Rams have a great defensive line front led by Jared Verse, NFL rookie of the year defensive player. They've upgraded their secondary. Shoe land and second year's defensive coordinator Tank Dell out for the season. I just saw Christian Kirk is not going to play due to a hamstring. They picked up two young rookies to go of Nico Collins from Iowa State that are young and athletic.
I'm going Texas plus three. But honestly, I think this game's gonna end in a push. I think either side's gonna win by three points. I'm gonna play it safe and take the plus three. But I wouldn't be surprised if Texas went by three or Rams won by three. But the safe sides of Texans plus.
[00:49:35] Speaker A: Three yeah, as I mentioned, this is a, this would be a. Stay away from me just because. Texans, lots of talent, odds, expectations, Rams, what's up with their quarterback, but that defense is loaded and I do like all the new additions. I'm not as much on the McVeigh as you guys are. Or Jason, rather.
[00:49:56] Speaker C: You need to get on that. You need to get on that.
[00:49:57] Speaker A: I know you taught him a lot.
[00:49:58] Speaker C: The guy, the guy is brilliant.
[00:50:00] Speaker A: But because all the publicity has been really bad on the quarterback and you guys know that I've got the, you know, being third in that division, you know, at the end of the year, I think you're on course.
[00:50:10] Speaker C: Rome, I want to say you had them fourth, but I don't know. I think you had Arizona and Seattle ahead of them. I think you have the Rams fourth.
[00:50:17] Speaker B: Check the legal pad.
[00:50:19] Speaker C: This is kind of nice.
[00:50:20] Speaker A: Everything's all in one pad.
[00:50:21] Speaker C: I'm pretty sure he has the Rams fourth. I could be wrong. Maybe it was Seattle, but maybe he had him tight. I don't remember. It was about midnight when we were talking about the NFC.
[00:50:30] Speaker B: This is like a 90s legal drama with Rome just flipping these papers.
[00:50:34] Speaker C: How many pages you've been taking notes on Rome? Well, we've only done like two shows since that NFL. Maybe three.
[00:50:40] Speaker B: I mean, those were like three. Well, those are like three and a half hour shows we did till like.
[00:50:44] Speaker C: Two in the morning.
That's what I'm saying. I don't remember he has them third or fourth.
[00:50:48] Speaker A: I think he had my play calling pad. I could just pull us out throughout the whole year. I'm like, oh, no, wait a minute.
[00:50:52] Speaker C: All right, Kyle Shanahan. Where's the one where you fumble the bag? Let's go.
[00:50:56] Speaker A: You're absolutely right, Aaron. I had him.
[00:50:58] Speaker C: I knew it. Third or fourth. I knew it. I knew. I didn't dreamt it.
[00:51:04] Speaker A: I had him on under the ten and a half wins. I had them either third or fourth, leaning on four because I had the cards being third. But I do have the cards being over eight and a half, so that's what had ended up.
[00:51:16] Speaker C: I, I'm pretty sure I remember he had on four, but I was kind of hard to remember at 1am but that's what I thought I heard.
[00:51:24] Speaker A: Nice call, dude. Nice call.
Yeah, I, I just think Graham's gonna pull it out, you know, they'll be like, look, Stafford's okay, nothing to worry about. And then he breaks his arm the next game, you know, but they're gonna pull out the victory here. Everything's gonna be okay in LA at least for one week.
But Texans, they'll be fine.
I, I agree that there should be a push. Not. I would not be surprised if Texas wins big. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rams defense just bullies the Texans offense up and down the field, gets a few takeaways, which they did pretty well last year. And. And they win because of their defense. Not so much as their offense.
[00:52:07] Speaker C: I mean, I'm curious to see how devonte Adams looks in this Rams offense he's taking, you know, Cooper cup spot. Jason mentioned they got a good run game. Offensive line kind of came together once they got healthy. Rams got a good team. Tough, tough schedule.
But again, it just comes down to the health of the quarterback if he goes down. Do you trust Jimmy G or been at the backup?
[00:52:27] Speaker A: I do trust Jimmy G. There's.
[00:52:29] Speaker C: There's a lot of people that don't in that state. So we'll see how it goes.
[00:52:33] Speaker A: Yeah. All right, second to last game, guys. We're almost there.
I knew we're gonna go over Ravens and the Bills. Ravens favored by one point over under 50 and a half.
This would be another stay away game for me, but because I'm such a Bills guy, I'll take the Bills plus one no matter what.
Despite everything.
[00:52:59] Speaker B: I would say if you're looking into the preview of the AFC Championship game, this would be my game right here. I think these are the two best teams in this division. I think the Bills.
I know, I know the Cowboys, they got their own documentary of being America's team. I think the Bills are the story that America wants right now.
These people are crazy in Buffalo, but everyone loves them. We're going to see dudes going through tables that are on fire and everything else going on in that parking lot.
We, you know, me personally and Aaron talked about Josh Allen being the step of a franchise quarterback as the roster started to turn over as aging skill players got older. But he makes the most out of his talent that's around him and it makes the most better. And that's the markings of a great quarterback. On the other side, Lamar Jackson, you know, league MVP making plays. But this is a coin flip. I understand why you're staying away from. But I think the Bills and I don't know when we're doing this, but the Bills are going to the super bowl this year and it starts this Sunday night beating the Ravens.
[00:54:03] Speaker A: All right, I love it.
[00:54:06] Speaker C: I mean, Jason jumped the gun there. There is a Super bowl team in this game, but it's not the Bills, it's the Ravens. The Ravens seeking revenge all off season. We all remember Mark Andrews fumbling that two point conversion.
I like the Ravens here.
[00:54:22] Speaker A: I like them big.
[00:54:23] Speaker C: I think they're going to pin it on Buffalo. They're going to make a statement to the afc. They're going to make a statement to the NFL power ranking Week one. Ravens dominate. They, they move up the charts. I like the Ravens here and I like them big. They, they were an underdog. The Sharps are all over them. I'm all over them.
Lamar Jackson should have won MVP last year. He will win it this year, I believe behind this team. I like the Ravens here.
[00:54:49] Speaker A: By the way. I do have my power eight going into week one.
[00:54:53] Speaker C: I don't care about your power eight power five. I just like your hot seat coach.
[00:54:56] Speaker A: Five season power eight. I will reveal after this.
[00:55:00] Speaker C: In fact, with the Cowboys losing Rome, Brian Shinehammer, Butterbeer on your top five hot seat coaches.
[00:55:07] Speaker A: They look pretty good today. They look pretty good, pretty competitive.
I don't know. Cowboys might surprise us. Who knows?
Or you just. I mean like the Saints last year.
[00:55:17] Speaker C: We already know who Jason's got in this last game.
[00:55:19] Speaker A: Yeah. All right.
Vikings, Bears, Vikings favored.
[00:55:26] Speaker C: You can go first, Roma. I'll go first, you go second. We'll save, we'll save the, the cup of tea for Jason.
[00:55:31] Speaker A: Yeah, he'll. He'll take this up to an hour and a half.
Vikings here by one and a half.
[00:55:36] Speaker C: We got, we got four minutes and three and a half to get it in. We're on the run. The clock here.
[00:55:40] Speaker A: Excess of talking about nothing. He's like a walking Jerry Seinfeld episode. Mr. Zinke with the Bears. Sunday Night Football prime Monday Night Football.
[00:55:50] Speaker C: Monday night.
[00:55:52] Speaker A: Monday night.
New quarterback with the Vikings.
Aaron, go ahead.
[00:56:00] Speaker C: Going with the Bears, one and a half point underdogs here at home. Give me the Bears all day disrespect at home against a quarterback that's not even taking a snap in the NFL and you're going to pit them a favorite.
It's Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson. I'm looking forward. I think it's gonna be an ugly football game, honestly, to tell you the truth. Both defenses I think are gonna be pretty good. Flores with that defense is going to be aggressive. He's gonna put some pressure on Caleb. Hopefully Caleb can keep the turnovers to none or at least one. And the Vikings, I don't trust J.J. i think they finished last in the division. They're going to take, they're Going to regress. Ugly game. But I like the Bears to pull it out late. Typical Chicago fashion. But they'll, they'll be. There'll be some moments there where we look at it and say they did some great things. But Ben Johnson goes to 10 as a head coach in the National Football League.
[00:56:52] Speaker A: Nice.
I'm kind of in agreeance with you.
This would be another stay away game. I think that'd be four.
[00:57:00] Speaker C: That's five. I'm pretty sure track of that. It was four and a half on the overrunner. I believe that's five because you came with Vikings, Bears, Texans, Rams. I think Bill's Ravens and there was two before that. You're at least at five.
[00:57:13] Speaker A: Are you sure? Jason?
[00:57:14] Speaker C: Are you keeping track of this at five? He knows he is.
[00:57:17] Speaker B: You're at five.
[00:57:18] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:57:18] Speaker A: You guys are full of shit. Dude. I'm gonna replay this when I'm editing and you guys are wrong. I'm gonna shove in your guys face. All right.
Or games getting clipped. Someone though. Someone the other.
Look, Bears have a tough schedule this year. It's gonna be tougher than last year. And it sounds like Caleb Willings is finally getting the coaching that he did not get last year. It's gonna be a lot of growing pains.
I know I was up on the Bears before the season. Potentially going, you know, as. As potentially being like the second seed in the division. But just looking over the schedule again and just what they have to go through the gauntlet in this division alone. They have to win this game just to get to seven wins. Like that's how tough their schedule is.
I, I kind of want to like edge my over on them now because it's going to be a tough year. Is gonna be a long year. They have a lot of talent.
We'll see how their coaches.
He's ruffling a lot of feathers in Chicago. You hear both sides. For the, for the good. Right? Change a lot of things.
This can be a tough game. I'm really curious because I haven't heard enough from the vikings of how McCarthy's doing. I've seen very little plays. Same thing. The defense is loaded. They got a hell of a coach.
I don't even know how the Vikings are gonna do. You know, they lost some guys. They lost their, their, their rah, rah, rah guy and Sam Darnold. Whether you liked him or not. It's, it's, it's so weird.
[00:58:45] Speaker C: You got.
I'm pretty sure Addison's out for this game too. For the Vikings. Right? It's been to the first three games.
So that's. That's big for what Big loss for them.
Was it driving under the influence or reckless driving or something related to that?
[00:58:59] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:59:02] Speaker C: Damn, that's a big loss in this game.
[00:59:05] Speaker A: Big loss. Yeah. Well, that kind of helps it out. I. I think Bears start the year positive, get the victory here, Jason.
[00:59:15] Speaker B: Well, I mean, you guys just assume that I would make this a clean sweep and I would take the Bears plus one and a half and you're damn right I'm gonna take the Bears plus one and a half. This is a clean sweep. I got you there, Rome. I see people.
[00:59:29] Speaker C: That old WWE Hill move on you right there.
[00:59:31] Speaker B: All right, you know, you're looking left.
[00:59:33] Speaker C: I'm coming.
[00:59:33] Speaker B: I'm coming right with it. Right across with it. All right. Yeah, you. You asked the question, rome. Where is J.J. mcCarthy? All right, where are we talking about him? I get ESPN and Fox Sports and everyone else telling me about Caleb Williams, about, oh, he doesn't look good because he didn't throw to the net.
[00:59:48] Speaker A: But they don't show the nail polish color.
[00:59:51] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, we got these guys, the smart guys, like Rome's talking about his nail polish, you know, and everything else, all this conversation about it. But guess what? Rookie season last year plus 3,000, you know, didn't turn the ball over with a coach who didn't know anything about offense. Didn't get any preparation out there, and now you got the guy. I spent an entire year talking about Ben Johnson being the right coach. Is it going to look pretty in game one? Eh, probably not. It's going to look, you know, mid season and Rome, you're exactly right. Tough schedule this year. You said, how do they get to seven games? Okay, the. This is going to be tough for them to get to 10 games, which is where I think they win from a win perspective this year. And yes, they do need to win games like this against the Vikings. The Vikings regression this year. Had an awesome year last year, but everything was going their way last year. Last year. This year doesn't go but JJ McCarthy, the huge wild card. All right, so if he comes out and balls out and they're just keeping this big secret that this guy's so good, but I don't think that's the case. I think there's no news about him on purpose because we saw him in the national championship game and Jim Harbaugh didn't trust him in college to get the ball done. I don't know how you're going to see this in the pros. The Bears defense. I will say the Bears defense goes a little bit too much on reputation of the Bears defensive old. I have questions about their pass rush and their ability to stop the run. So if Aaron Jones or Jordan Mason have good games in this game, won't be surprised. But if they step up and stop that, that will put a lot of pressure on JJ McCarthy to do something that a strong Bear secondary can take advantage of on the offensive side of the ball. That is where you expect this team to improve. You saw great flashes in that first preseason game of what they can do with. With Loveland and Comet on the field at both times, you have weapons with Odun and more and Luther Burden. If they get out there, it'll be interesting in this first game. I think Aaron's right. I think it's a sloppy mess, but at home, disrespect to the Bears give me plus one and a half. It's going to be a big W for Chicago to start the Ben Johnson era.
[01:01:41] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, to note, I mean, Jason said that Bears struggle against the run. I think they're going to load the box and you know, with Jordan Addison being out, they can double coverage. Jefferson and then basically kind of man up on the other guys and make JJ McCarthy prove that he can beat you. There's. I, I agree. There's reasons there's footage not going out. The secret isn't that he's been great. I think the secret is he's been mediocre.
And this is a team that passed on Aaron Rodgers, who wanted to go there. Maybe that was the right move. Maybe not. We're going to find out a lot of answers here in week one. Definitely, definitely disrespect the Bears. In my opinion, I have them favored by one and a half, too. So you're giving me points at home from a team that needs to win with all the hype and all the.
The mojo that's going for them. And then you put the pressure on a rookie quarterback basically that's never played in JJ going on the road and Michigan, he just turned around like Jason said and hand the ball off and you know, they get a big touchdown run. That defense was great.
Bears, man. I, I love the Bears. They're in my top five picks this week.
[01:02:43] Speaker A: Guys tricking that Archie Manning haterade. It sounds like the same, same rhetoric.
[01:02:47] Speaker C: I'm trying to see the Archie Manning haterade. That's, that's the best seller right now because that, that stuff's just 100 pure, natural facts.
[01:02:56] Speaker B: Listen, Rome, we're, we're. We're a Kendrick Lamar podcast, man. It's always been about love and hate, and I'm the biggest hater.
[01:03:03] Speaker A: Oh, wow.
[01:03:07] Speaker C: With that, you gotta end the show right there, Rome.
[01:03:12] Speaker A: Real quick. Power 8 going to the season.
You guys ready?
[01:03:17] Speaker C: Yeah, we're waiting for your Rome. I don't have one. But you, you said your power, right? This is your segment, Rome. This is your power, right?
[01:03:25] Speaker B: You guys are yelling at me about taking this past an hour. Now we're throwing Rome's Power 8 going to start the season. So let's get into it.
[01:03:30] Speaker A: It'd be really quick. It'll be up on the socials tomorrow.
Just had I gotta update the icons, but my power rate going to week one. We didn't do this last year, right? I don't think we did this like week five or something like that.
[01:03:45] Speaker C: I think I wanted to keep it at five teams and I don't know. You guys came up with eight. You might as well just go power 32 and just get it over with.
[01:03:51] Speaker A: If I was too little, it's too hard. Even 8's kind of hard because you're like, I remember I had a hard time with it. And then I'm like, I show him back to five.
[01:03:59] Speaker C: Well, give us, give us your eight rooms so we can give our super bowl picks.
[01:04:03] Speaker A: Nice. I got the Bengals coming in at number eight.
At number seven, the Washington Commanders.
Number six, the Green Bay packers with their new acquisition. We'll see how it turns around.
Number five, probably the highest ranking I wanted to give him as the Kansas City Chiefs.
Showing a lot of respect here.
Number four, the Detroit Lions.
Number three, the Baltimore Ravens.
Number two, Buffalo Bills.
Love them.
And number one, the reigning super bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles. That's the Power 8 going to week one.
[01:04:56] Speaker C: All right, it's a good little list.
[01:04:58] Speaker A: Any knocks on it, Jason?
[01:05:01] Speaker B: N. I mean, you got to end it at the highlight, man. We'll start there. I mean, I didn't expect the Chiefs on the list, so I was. Honestly, I just stopped paying attention after you said the Chiefs were even in the eight. So I. I really just blacked out at that moment.
[01:05:12] Speaker A: He blacked out. That's hilarious.
All right.
We didn't do it in our NFL preview, which is a two part pod. It's out live on Spotify and Apple podcasts.
We got some, like, little clips. I'm trying to push it out as fast as I can, but we're gonna do our super bowl picks right here, right after game one. Week one where the Philadelphia Eagles narrowly beat the Dallas Cowboys. So who wants to go first?
Guys?
[01:05:43] Speaker B: I can go first. I mean, Aaron and I a little bit spoiled what was going on here as far as who our AFC prediction is to the Super Bowl. So again, AFC Championship preview.
Bills, Ravens just feel like they're the class of where it's at. The NSC is a little bit different. I think you, you got the Eagles probably ahead of the class. Vegas backs that up. And then you got packers, you got Vikings, you got Commanders and some other teams out there. But I do think the Eagles just got, they got, they got the path. And I think they. And I think that's where NSC north, beating themselves up a little bit. The Niners got some question marks on offense, what they could do out west. So I'm going to take the Eagles, they're going to play the Bills, but the Bills are going to end the year as super bowl champions.
[01:06:30] Speaker C: Interesting.
So I've got, I've got the Ravens, as you know. I've got Ravens versus Broncos in the AFC Championship game with the Ravens going to the super bowl and the NFC nsc. I'm gonna, I'm gonna throw a wild card out here in the nfc.
I think in the NFC Championship game is going to be.
I'll say it's the Eagles versus the Bucks. I got Tampa Bay going to the Super Bowl. I've Got Tampa Bay vs. Baltimore in the super bowl. And I've got the Ravens beating the Buccaneers in Super Bowl 60 at Levi Stadium.
[01:07:14] Speaker A: I'm sorry, repeat that one more time.
[01:07:16] Speaker C: Which one?
[01:07:18] Speaker A: The super bowl pick.
[01:07:19] Speaker C: I've got Ravens over the Buccaneers, Tampa Bay.
[01:07:23] Speaker A: Okay, that's really tough for my afc.
I got the Bills again coming out of the afc.
I can see them playing the Chargers in the championship game in Buffalo.
And the NFC. Let me see who I had here.
NFC. I have the Lions and 49ers, with the 49ers going to the Super Bowl.
[01:07:56] Speaker C: The old Chris Berman super bowl prediction.
[01:08:00] Speaker A: Bill's winning over the Niners and another heartbreaking loss for the 49ers in the.
[01:08:05] Speaker C: Super bowl at their own stadium of all places.
That would be heartbreaking, actually.
[01:08:10] Speaker A: I didn't even think about that.
Dude, can I change my pick now? You're right. That's kind of tough.
[01:08:18] Speaker C: No, I like it. I like it.
[01:08:20] Speaker B: I like it. I, I. Shanahan taking in the super bowl and losing in front of his home crowd would just be all time like moments for you in San Francisco.
[01:08:31] Speaker C: But if he wins, it's like the monkey off his back. Right? It would be the great, the greatest win ever. That.
[01:08:40] Speaker A: You'Re right. Wow, that's tough.
All right, guess that does it. For all our predictions. Any other feedback for Week 1? Playoffs, AFC, NFC championship game, Super Bowl.
[01:08:56] Speaker B: I think we're there. Rome.
Week one's upon us.
We got the nice little appetizer tonight on Thursday Night Football.
Get a little bit. Second appetizer tomorrow night in Brazil and the full slate on Sunday. Ready to just bury yourself in the couch for a good eight hours?
[01:09:14] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm trying to pick out what pizza I'm gonna order with my daughter.
I gave her a heads up. We're back to football season.
She's like, oh, no, we're gonna be camping out. The pool's right here in the back. It's gonna be a day. It's gonna be a day.
[01:09:29] Speaker B: Is it not only the eight hours of football. And I know we'll save this for the. For another hour of programming for our Formula One hour, but if you get up, we got the F1 race in Italy and then eight hours of football. So you could be put in a full Sunday.
[01:09:45] Speaker C: It's a full slate weekend, man.
[01:09:46] Speaker A: What time is the race on Sunday?
[01:09:48] Speaker C: 6Am Man. Is it. Is it six?
There's one coming about five. I don't remember which one it is.
[01:09:56] Speaker B: That is in Singapore, I'm pretty sure.
[01:09:58] Speaker C: Okay, I could do six.
[01:10:01] Speaker B: It's a 6:00am race.
[01:10:02] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:10:04] Speaker A: Okay.
Looking forward to it. We'll bring Andrew back for the recap on that one.
[01:10:11] Speaker B: Yep.
[01:10:11] Speaker A: Looking forward to that.
F1. Our second half pod coming out on YouTube. It's already out on Apple Spotify where we get your podcast, but the YouTube video version, fully edited with this cool papaya background, cool little text graphics highlighting all of Andrew's cool idioms and sayings. Like, I was just cracking up, dude.
[01:10:35] Speaker C: I just remember something about lingering thoughts in the shower or something he said.
[01:10:39] Speaker A: That is.
[01:10:41] Speaker C: I don't know where that one came from. I mean, I've heard of singing in the shower, but lingering thoughts in the shower, that's another one for me.
[01:10:46] Speaker A: I didn't highlight all them because it was just like, I'm like, dude, what? Like, who talks like this?
Who talks like this? And in 2025.
[01:10:53] Speaker B: But the number one guest of sources from the sofa, you know?
[01:10:57] Speaker A: Yeah, no, it's really. It's really great. I hope everyone likes it. So be on the lookout for that. I think I'm gonna push that out tonight.
This podcast should be coming out Friday morning in time for your bets. Aaron's College Games of the Week is going out as well.
You can catch what who we picked last year or last week, but that'll do it, though. Week one. NFL, here we go.
[01:11:21] Speaker C: Let's go, baby.
[01:11:23] Speaker A: Let's go.
Catch us next time sourcing the sofa. We are out.
