[00:00:03] Speaker A: What's up, everybody? This is sources from the Sofa Sports podcast. [00:00:07] Speaker B: What happened to Jason? He's gone or what? [00:00:09] Speaker A: My name is Rome. We also have Jason. [00:00:11] Speaker B: There he is. [00:00:12] Speaker A: And Aaron. Jason popping in and out as I hit record. All good and all good. [00:00:22] Speaker C: Difficulties, Rome. [00:00:23] Speaker A: Yeah, Technical difficulties. Decked out in the Bears gear. [00:00:28] Speaker B: I thought. I thought for a second Jason was going to boycott this episode after Notre Dame went down in Provo, but there he is for Chicago. [00:00:36] Speaker A: But, man, Caleb looked really good. Stay in the pocket. Took too many sacks per usual. But hey, might be a nice little learning curve for him. [00:00:47] Speaker C: We talking about. He took like one sack, took four sacks. [00:00:51] Speaker A: Any [00:00:53] Speaker C: like 72. Accuracy. Man, you're trying to. Trying to pour water on my parade. [00:01:00] Speaker B: Purdy is trash to Rome. That's all you need to know. The other quarterback, because my quarterback rankings [00:01:07] Speaker A: are looking pretty solid right now. [00:01:09] Speaker B: He's basically choking on that song. Yeah. All he forgot to put in there is like, please. [00:01:14] Speaker A: Everyone's just upset because this Florida State blew another game and now Mike Norvell saved his job. That's what it really is. That's what it really is. Your coaches is staying put. And now you can't petition for UCLA's [00:01:28] Speaker B: guy to utilized guys going to Texas. But we'll get. [00:01:31] Speaker A: I don't think so, dude. He's not going anywhere. He's not one of those guys, man. [00:01:35] Speaker C: I don't even know if it matters if Aaron's guy wins games or loses games because. [00:01:39] Speaker B: Exactly. [00:01:40] Speaker C: From what they're saying, they can't afford to buy him out even if they wanted to get rid of him. [00:01:43] Speaker B: Yeah. No. [00:01:44] Speaker A: So he's stuck. All right. Wild weekend in football. College football was amazing. We did terrible in the Westgate. We'll get into that in a little bit. But other than that, though, I'm not sure how Aaron, your games of the week went. Didn't have a chance to check up on it, but just games. [00:02:02] Speaker B: Another winning week, Rome. It's just another winning week. [00:02:05] Speaker A: It's amazing. We're winning on there, but we're not winning the Westgate. Go figure. [00:02:09] Speaker B: I'm winning on Westgate the last couple of weeks. [00:02:11] Speaker A: You know, Jason, you guys continue to want to fade. I'm sorry that I sent you the. [00:02:16] Speaker B: What? [00:02:16] Speaker A: The analysis. What the stats said that Notre Dame were three touchdown favorites in that. That the stats are wrong. Jesus Christ, man. A lot of big dogs went down big time. Five of the seven top teams. Ohio State survived. They should have lost, though. Indiana, phenomenal, man. They are still. They won. They won by a foot by 2.4inches. That's what separated or the size of Aaron. That's how close it was. 4 inches from 4 inches. Relax. [00:02:46] Speaker B: Just so you know. 4 inches. Relaxed. All right. [00:02:54] Speaker A: That's how we're gonna get going, huh? [00:02:55] Speaker B: You brought it up, Rome. You brought it up. I'm just firing bullets too. [00:02:59] Speaker A: Exciting stuff. I was afraid, you know, first of all, some pretty bad losses. Texas is on there. I'm not gonna really count the Georgia losses. A bad loss. They got manhandle on that one. Alabama, that's a bad loss. The, the top two teams from last week that I said, you know, these guys might be the cream of the crop dog this week. Notre Dame. Oh, my God, you know, hope you got your popcorn out because BYU took it to them and was there 1 second left. How come we can add a 1 second to the, to the Michigan, Western Michigan game, but we couldn't add a second here when there was obviously one second. [00:03:41] Speaker B: The clock started late. [00:03:42] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, but Bear, you can't, [00:03:46] Speaker B: you can't roll out to the right. You hold the guy for five seconds and then throw a pass and still say there's one second on the clock. [00:03:52] Speaker C: Regard. Regardless. There was one second or there was pass interference. There should have been another play. [00:03:57] Speaker A: I thought there should have been another play. Your team got ripped off. [00:04:01] Speaker B: It was holding in the end zone. [00:04:03] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, big time. [00:04:04] Speaker B: No doubt. [00:04:04] Speaker A: Big time. That was big time. PI Refereeing, officiating, mix across the board. Come on, man. We're going to do a 24 game playoff. It is time to do full time referees. Aaron is willing to go through training camp to become a ref in the college football ranks. Get his ass out there. We definitely need it. [00:04:25] Speaker B: Byu, big time win Are the replay center. I'm sick and tired of like the acc, Big Ten, all these different, like, let's go to the review center and listen to these yahoos chat for like 30 seconds. Wait, go to camera A. Camera A. Look it. Show it. Show it. Shows a foot in. What do you think? What do you think, Jason? I don't know. Camera B. Can we go to camera B? I don't think he has control. I don't think he has control. [00:04:48] Speaker A: It's just stupid. [00:04:49] Speaker B: I want to hear those yahoos talking. [00:04:50] Speaker A: I actually do want to see it. I, I do want to hear it. [00:04:52] Speaker B: I don't. [00:04:54] Speaker C: I'm mixed on it. I think Aaron might be disqualified if they f. If they find his take from a couple weeks ago when he was like saying MF this and MF that. To some team. I forgot which one it was. [00:05:04] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:05:06] Speaker B: Hey, I'm sure Jason was doing the same after the Notre Dame game. He's like, oh, one second, one second. These refs, I already know 100, by the way. Bring it to the audience live on air. [00:05:18] Speaker A: Florida State should have won that game. Dude. Being number one in the country after getting two overtimes, close to getting upset. I'm sorry, you don't deserve the number one ranking. And my book, BYU should be number one right now. Tough game. Really good game against Notre Dame. And that's all I gotta say. [00:05:39] Speaker B: I mean, Texas Tech, if you're byu, do you really want to be number one? Because as soon as teams become number one, you get knocked off. [00:05:45] Speaker A: This is a weird year, man. Every number one team is getting knocked off. [00:05:48] Speaker B: Central Florida, Central Florida is not no joke. Rome right now at seven points against byu. [00:05:55] Speaker A: You don't want to be number one. Ucla, tough matchup down in la. The only undefeated team left in the SECN and Big Ten. Go figure. Just like I expected. My team, I'm loving it, dude. Life is good right now. As a UCLA fan, I'll chalk this up once in a decade opportunity. I'm gonna soak it in. You know, Texas Tech, really impressive win against Arizona State, man. They look really good actually. And I know Aaron Gloss, you glossed over at ucla. [00:06:20] Speaker C: Your quarterback's out for the year now. [00:06:22] Speaker A: I actually think they're better with their backup. I'm sorry. They have a good run. [00:06:25] Speaker C: Okay. [00:06:26] Speaker A: Running game. I'm not, you know. Yeah, you're, you're right. I told. I, I totally forgot about that. [00:06:31] Speaker B: But no, because he was already out last week. Announced it. [00:06:37] Speaker A: I think they're okay. [00:06:38] Speaker B: They're better off in the passing game. But the dual threat from the running [00:06:42] Speaker A: perspective is they'll miss that for sure. Yeah, Texas Tech looked great. Kentucky, another big win against Oklahoma. Man, I wish I took that one. I really wish I took that one. Ole Miss looking solid. Rebound coming off the bye week, right? 31 to 3. They're running game, they're passing game. They're really dangerous, man. They're gonna, they're gonna ruin some schedules in the. In the upcoming few weeks. Utah nearly escapes. That might have been a backdoor thing against Colorado. Colorado shut up for their look ahead game for Utah. Yeah, yeah. Other than that though, lots of big dogs fell down, especially Alabama. I think this was the most shocking loss about out of all them because they just got manhandled by Tennessee and Aaron, I thought he said Tennessee sucks. They have Now a couple big wins here in this mid college year and they're looking pretty solid. [00:07:37] Speaker B: I said Tennessee sucks on offense Rome, which they do. I mean they were only kicking field goals against Alabama. Only kicking field goals really against Texas of all teams as well. But defensively they're pretty good. [00:07:50] Speaker A: Biggest shocker from this past week. Aaron, I'll let you go first. [00:07:55] Speaker B: I'm going to jump on Florida beating Texas with a backup quarterback, bro. [00:08:01] Speaker A: God damn that game. All right. I am so glad. And Picket, they were up what, 17 three in the second quarter. They went for it on like fourth and like some change. They're on their, their own 40, 40 yard line. The defense shifted, they didn't audible or do nothing on the Texas side. Arch had it got stuffed, it totally switched everything because on that next drive Florida scored and then they had another miscue, lost the ball. Florida gets it back. All of a sudden, you know this is after the half now it's 17:17 like in a matter of like 10 minutes across the second and third quarter and that changed and all of a sudden Arch couldn't do anything again until it was like three minutes left. This guy wants to act like Josh Allen in the last five minutes of every game, but yet a costly fumble and I think he's had a couple games now with costly turnovers at the end of the game. I don't know how much you guys put it on Arch. I think it's a little mix like play calling from Sark. I think me and you and Aaron talked about it a little bit. He got to have someone else call the plays, man. Because the play calling sucks. Offensive line play sucks. Arch, you know he doesn't work well with, with whatever offensive schemes that they're running there in Texas. And they're fucking talented man. They should not be losing back to back weeks against Florida. Florida's look bad in two weeks yet like yeah, they had a big win three weeks ago but they've looked like dog doo doo ever since. And man, backup quarterback, not a good look. [00:09:32] Speaker B: Florida got embarrassed what two weeks in a row at Missouri, then at a home against South Carolina. Looked like they're going to get embarrassed again early 17 3, you get that punt return for a touchdown. [00:09:42] Speaker A: It was close. [00:09:43] Speaker B: Look like Florida could quit, right? I mean I think the coach post game said hey look, we finally dug in, pitter cleats in the ground, fought as a team, got that win. But Texas look, Sark came out today, said Arch needs to play better. I already heard that the backup of quarterback is going to be getting more first team offensive reps. So Arch Manning is right now on, you know, watch list to be getting benched here if he does not perform in the big game. They got Mississippi coming in Sark, his play calling, I've been saying it for two years. Probably the most overrated play caller in college football. Time for him likely to relieve those duties at the end of the season. That's something he's going to need to evaluate. And if Texas shits the bed, I kind of hinted at early Rome. Texas has plenty of money. It's a 50 million dollar buyout to get rid of Sark, the best coach for them to go get Bob Chesney, no problem paying 12, 13 million for this guy. [00:10:34] Speaker A: You're just putting Bo the radar. [00:10:37] Speaker B: I, I, look, he's on the radar [00:10:38] Speaker A: away from my guy. [00:10:39] Speaker B: Dude, look, when you start winning at ucla, people take notice because nobody wins there. Brian Kill, he didn't win there. And you got Chip Kelly, excuse me, you've got Jim Moore Jr. He barely won there for a little bit. Yeah, he tough, tough to win. And look, Chesney, look, if Texas needs a coach, 12, $13 million a year for a top five college gig, it's going to be tough for him to say no if they decide to go that route. [00:11:05] Speaker A: All right, Biggest shocker for you, Jason, besides your Notre Dame, or is that it [00:11:12] Speaker C: was good I, for Notre Dame. I'm not shocked with Notre Dame. I mean I did think they were gonna win. I, you know, it was, it was disappointing with how the offense looked. I still think they can't find their running game. And you can tell C.J. carr was, you know, basically it was had to be put on his shoulders to be able to deliver it. The defense from BYU was good and I mean they, you know, they, they should have got another play, but it should have came down to that one play like Notre Dame should have, you know, controlled that game. And this is the position they put themselves in. And now the national narrative around Notre Dame is like, hey, they don't win the big game even though they beat like three ranked teams to go to the national championship two years ago, everything's on like, okay, you played Texas A and M, you played Miami and now you played byu. Those are the three best teams you played over the past two years. You lost all three games. And so now it's, you know, it's going to be going into the Miami game where you have to win the Miami game or people aren't going to take them seriously to be able to go to the College Football Playoff. I think there's an outside chance, you know, given how much these teams are beating up each other, that Notre Dame still gets in even if they were to have a competitive loss to Miami. But, you know, the narrative around Notre Dame is they don't play anyone, even though they basically play all Big Ten, all ACC schools. And you know, they're scheduled. You know, they play all. You know, I forgot what, what's Division one now. FBS or whatever the heck we call it. Yeah, you know, they play all FBS opponents. It may not be the cream of the crop by every conference, but they're playing all FBS opponents. So. Yeah, I mean, I think it's a disappointing for Notre Dame. I don't want to say it's shocked for me. I was probably a little more shocked with Georgia, to be honest with you. Georgia, just since 2021 really hasn't lost game like this. Like, you know, they've lost some regular season games, but they haven't lost to a team that hasn't been ranked. I mean, you know, hey, they got to play like Bama or LSU. I was like, maybe like the old miss loss in 2024 is probably like the closest one to this. But you know, these are teams that generally they take business care of business against the favored ones when they play in the sec. And they're usually only going up, you know, up against some of the, the big dogs they don't really use. You know, the unranked SEC upset really hasn't hit Georgia, you know, pretty much since 2020. So that I think that one was a little surprising given their track record recently. [00:13:23] Speaker A: Yeah, I just saw that the Niners punted and I really need Brock Prairie to get another touchdown so I can clear all, all this money. But all good. [00:13:32] Speaker C: I was about, I was about to interrupt you because the guardian said the base is loaded. 53 with two outs out of nowhere. So again, we thought we were over it closing but they, they shut it down in the eight. [00:13:43] Speaker A: They got out. [00:13:44] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [00:13:45] Speaker A: Couple exciting gains as recording Monday nights good points. Jason. You know, funny enough, dude, out of all the cars this weekend, the best looking car was out of Michigan. A brand new car actually. Tommy car with the big victory. Underwood getting benched. That was a fun game. I know I said I was going to root for Michigan or Texas and but yeah, I was watching both those games this weekend. I can't watch UCLA right now. I, I get, I get too nervous. I can't place a bet. I'M too up and down, but I still watch those games. [00:14:19] Speaker C: What happened in Nebraska? I think if you're Nebraska to beat Indiana, you would have been all over in Nebraska. [00:14:24] Speaker A: Dude, you know something about rule, man, I, I just don't get it. They had that game too in, in, in Oregon and dude, Oregon, Dan Lenning [00:14:35] Speaker B: basically gave him that game. Starting a quarterback that's not even a scholarship quarterback. [00:14:40] Speaker A: Yeah. And then first and a half quarters [00:14:42] Speaker B: and then rail he brings Raiola in and goes two scoring drives. [00:14:48] Speaker A: Yeah, he, he seems to do really well when it's just like one or two drives ago and he looks sharp. Like he used athleticism and came into, you know, when it was needed. He has some laser throws. I hate that team. I, I, I, I, I hate Oregon. I hate their guts. I hate Dan Lanning. Me and my daughter are watching and she's like, who are we going for like in that Nebraska, baby. You know we got the jerseys back here. You know that's where daddy went to school anyways. Yeah, no, a tough loss there. That was, that, that was a really tough loss. That was a tough loss. Anything else that kind of stuck out? Besides man, like the rankings are kind of weird. Texas I think is in deep. Dude, they didn't look like the number one team. I, I think they're still ranked a little too high, honestly. I know they got too big Victories over top 15 teams but this loss against Florida, man, sound alarms. I don't know what needs to happen, but everyone's wondering, we talked about it, whether Arch would leave or not. A lot of people think, you know, both of them are going to come back. But I, I just even Sark sounded like he might be, you know, jumping off the Manning train. And I don't know how overrated he was since he played at like a private high school, like one of those that has like kindergarten through high, you know, high school grades, you know, with like 60 people. I don't know what happened. I really don't know. But Texas in deep. Any other teams that are in deep right now? [00:16:09] Speaker C: I mean, that's the biggest one to me. That's the biggest one because you're at two losses. You're at two losses. They got to play Ole Miss this upcoming week and Ole Miss just, you know, throttled. They just throttled number 13th ranked Missouri this last week. You know, they had the big win earlier against lsu. You know they, Texas still has got to play Missouri and LSU too and [00:16:32] Speaker A: end in A and Ms. Look ridiculous. [00:16:35] Speaker C: They did so. I mean Texas, they don't they don't have the easy schedule. We talked about this beginning of the year. You know, they got the first two years there in the sec. They got the cupcake SEC schedule and they didn't do anything with it this year they got the big boy SEC schedule. They already got two losses against two unranked teams. Basically they're playing. I, I don't like Texas's chances at this point. I don't, I don't think they make a change at quarterback. I think you got too much in Arch right now. [00:17:01] Speaker A: Suppose they got the, the rookie getting first team snaps now he's getting more [00:17:06] Speaker C: reps. Yeah, but it I, I think that's for no, put the alarm on. I don't think how you can put them in the playoffs because I, if they lose one more, I, I think they're out. And it, I, it'd be really hard to argue a three loss Texas team going in at this point. [00:17:24] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, yeah, here's the thing. I mean when's the last time a team lost maybe three or more games that all three teams aren't even going to make the playoff? Right. Florida is not going to make the playoff unless they run the table. Oklahoma's not making the playoff and so they're likely, I mean Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, lsu, Arkansas, A M. I mean there's got to be at least one or two more losses there. And Ole Miss, who knows, Trinidad Chambliss has been playing great at quarterback. If Arch struggles, I think you have to maybe look and bench them. Right? I mean it's just one of these things where you got to do something. Maybe you put them on the bench for a game or whatever and then he comes back, looks good again. Ole Miss is going to be a tough battle for them, but yeah, I mean they really should have three losses because Ohio State gift drafted that game for him. And look, Archmanning made some great plays in the fourth quarter but Ohio State was a better team for 55 minutes of that game. So Texas has not looked good. [00:18:23] Speaker C: I think the other thing you got to, I mean we'll get all this stuff will shake out as these teams start playing each other too. But as we get into. You think about last year, the SEC and how many teams they got into the playoff. You know, Alabama got in, you know, losing the SEC championship game. But the Big 12 right now, you know, the BYU win versus Notre Dame, you can talk about Notre Dame, you know, all you want, but that's a huge win for byu. But that's you know, you got Utah, Texas Tech and Houston all have had, you know, really good seasons. Oklahoma State, you know, they already got two losses after this loss to Houston. But you know the Big 12 has got, you know, they probably will get at least two teams I'm guessing. So they really, they didn't get the shot at it last year. Right now, you know, maybe there's you know, four teams in contention to get two spots for the Big 12 and so you start taking some of these spots away. You know, I don't know where you, you know, wedge, you know, know some of these fringe teams in there and that's, I think this was going to hurt some of these SCTC teams that like trip over themselves. You know there will be the politic and everything that goes with it, strength, schedule and all that bs but like amazing. It'll be, it'll, it'll be interesting. I was like with how many teams that in these other conferences right now they got fairly impressive resumes themselves. [00:19:34] Speaker A: Sorry I was distracted by the Washington Redskins. Nice run the outside for 30 something yards. Touchdown I believe might be coming back though. Oh, we got a flag down. Oh man, I thought that game was, [00:19:47] Speaker C: I thought that game was over. The baseball game's on and Yandy, it's [00:19:51] Speaker A: over the first quarter and they kind [00:19:52] Speaker B: of pulled the old, the old back door. Mike Evans gets hurt and the 49ers just can't move the ball again. [00:20:00] Speaker C: The substation finally struck on Mike Evans, huh? [00:20:03] Speaker B: Yep, yep. [00:20:03] Speaker A: It's striking all year man. This guy's been in and out of rehab and he said he doesn't even practice, he just shows up. [00:20:10] Speaker B: Game day pits the pass today. [00:20:12] Speaker A: I thought I was gonna do a parlay on him earlier and I'm just like, I don't know, like should I sell this? [00:20:16] Speaker B: He's got the Achilles injury. [00:20:18] Speaker A: Brock get on the touchdown or should I just sell set on my pos? I just lost. [00:20:22] Speaker B: I think I'd probably would sell Rome because they're probably gonna have to kick a game winning field goal here. But we'll see. [00:20:26] Speaker A: Is it worth saving? $5 is probably what I'll save out of the $40 out there. [00:20:32] Speaker B: But it's, it's funny Jason mentions the Big 12 getting two teams possibility. But it'll be interesting to see what happens if byu and I think BYU is going to slip up and lose a game here. Maybe it's this week against Central Florida, who knows, maybe Texas Tech. But then we get back down to that battle again. Last, last playoff spot. Does Notre Dame get left out again because they lose a head to head matchup against byu and the committee does. I mean the committee's already said they're going to give the head to head no matter what happens. Here is what's going to happen. So the build up could be there again to where my for that Notre Dame's on the outside looking in. Look at Jason's only got to worry about for one more year because we're going to 24 teams next year. This won't happen for a majority of these teams. But I'm telling you, not only. You know, the funny thing too is, you know, we mentioned the referees two of the three games that Notre Dame has lost because of officials that should have been PI in the end zone. And you go back to the Texas A and M game when the guy literally tackled the dude that led to the game winning touchdown. Notre Dame's got a beef of the referees, maybe more so than I do. So hey, just saying. [00:21:40] Speaker A: Wow, that's a lot. [00:21:41] Speaker C: Aaron's not wrong. I'm glad he can speak for me on behalf of this. But at the end of the day, like I'm, I, it's going to be, it would be hard for me to sit here, you know, if Notre Dame slips up again. I think if they, if they don't lose again, I think they're automatically in given where they're at the ranking right now. But you know, if they lose to Miami, it's, it's going to be their own doing. If they don't make the playoff right now because of how they showed up in byu, they had to be ready for these big games. You knew that was going to be the measuring stick. And you know, they got no slouch against SMU too. So you got, you got two games you really need to show up for. The Miami game is going to be the real test. They knock off Miami, they have them at home in South Bend. That's the game that everyone kind of wants to see. You know, I, I, it'll be hard for me to sit here day after that and say, hey, you know, they're, they're going to need other teams. They won't be their, the destiny won't be their control. [00:22:26] Speaker A: What I'm really curious is how the top team is going to rebound everybody that loss this past week because just a week ago I thought Alabama might be one of the best teams in the country and then they get smacked like that on national television. Georgia, you guys have been on them. They got smacked upside the head by Auburn, I'm not so concerned about Georgia. [00:22:46] Speaker B: I mean Kirby Smart, I think they're okay laying the foundation for the team to lose. He literally came into that game like dude, we're tired, we're banged up, we're mentally fatigued. We need a bye week. Well, they're going to get a bite. We going into a loss. [00:22:59] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:00] Speaker B: So I'm not too concerned. Alabama, we're talking about teams with two losses that should be concerned. I'm not too, I think they're Alabama because I'm looking at their schedule very, very favorable. I mean obviously that game against Auburn, but it is at home. They do go to LSU, Texas A& M this week. But Texas A and M just can't, can't score and move the ball against [00:23:22] Speaker A: the elite teams in the SEC this weekend, by the way. [00:23:24] Speaker B: So lsu, lsu, Texas might be that team fighting for three loss fringe team and they play each other for that playoff spot of a three team SEC team to get into a playoff. [00:23:35] Speaker A: I just don't see Texas going in at any point even with three losses at this point. [00:23:39] Speaker B: And if they beat Ole Miss, that makes it interesting because then Ole Miss will have two losses. So the sec, a lot of ifs finally got smart the commissioner over there and agreed to the the Big Tens 2014 playoff. I don't know why they were fighting us all along. He now realizes all my good teams are going to have three to four losses every year. Go to the 2014 playoff and get him in the playoff. [00:23:59] Speaker A: All right. Final comments on college football for the overall week. [00:24:03] Speaker C: No, but I think the 2014 playoff will probably have a lot of discussion on it. Yeah, yeah, Aaron brought it up right now. You know, whether it's good or not for college football, I think there's a lot of details that's going to be figured out. The one thing I'm most excited about is get rid of the conference championship game. I've been bragging about those forever, how useless they are overall. As soon as they went to a playoff format that you could not be your conference championship and win the national title and yeah, it's gone. Does get rid of those. I think that's a plus for it. But I, you know, I do think there is some bad things about this where now it's solely focused on, you know, the playoff bowl games probably will just be, you know, next to non existent at this point. And then you know, how many like mediocre teams will be kind of let in. And then furthermore to me there's still an issue with Scheduling when it comes to this stuff, too. [00:24:56] Speaker B: I. [00:24:57] Speaker C: What are they going to be, the mandates of overall scheduling? You know, I, I wish there was some sort of more scheduling committee where they can't schedule any of the, what's this Division 2 or whatever they call it. Like none of these teams should be. [00:25:10] Speaker B: Or whatever it is. [00:25:11] Speaker C: Yeah, no, there should be no FCS scheduling in all these teams that. Whatever. If there's 11 game regular season or 12 or whatever it is, like, they need to play all FBS schools. They, you know, theoretically at this point, they should basically play, you know, 11, 12 straight conference games. Since your conferences are so big, you don't need out of conference games when you're going to have this big playoff and that's going to generate your matchups of your, you know, Texas, Ohio State and all that good stuff. If you're going to have these conferences, I think they got to make them work. But I think it'll still be, you know, that. I think that's how you make the regular season mean more to the people that are really pissed off that you're diluting the regular season of college football is, you know, these conferences need to play more in conference games. The whole sketch, the whole, your whole slate should be conference games and then set it to the playoff. [00:25:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I think we'll see a lot of that stuff. [00:25:54] Speaker B: Well, you already got, you already got nine conference games, which I think. Yeah, I think it's fine. I think what's better about this with college football. Yeah. Get rid of the FCS scheduling. Yes, please get rid of that. [00:26:04] Speaker A: No more. [00:26:05] Speaker B: Also, I don't, I don't know why we're scheduling. It's kind of weird that College football schedules five, 10 years in advance. Opponents, like, get rid of that, too. I'm not a big fan of that. I think going to a 2014 playoff, we should be getting more big game matchups because teams shouldn't be worried about losing three or four games like Texas, lsu. You play in the sec, you can lose four games. Alabama. So hey, look, if you want to make an Alabama vs USC, there's no reason now that USC shouldn't be scheduling Notre Dame every year. Because, hey, look, if we, if we lose four games, we're going to be in the playoff no matter what. Lincoln, Riley, Marcus R, they should all be happy with this because now more coaches get in the playoff and that's really all that matters. Right? You want to be able to go to your school president's ads and be like, look, we're in the Playoff. We're in the field and now you're going to get possibly two home playoff games because they're going to expand on campus. So I like it. I like the format they got going on. [00:26:59] Speaker A: Time to Talk a little NFL Week 6 as the Niners maybe put up the final touches of a victory over the Redskins commanders. [00:27:09] Speaker B: Anders been trying to become the first, what, 6, 0 team in the NFL since Vikings 50 on a buy and Chiefs went to 5 0. [00:27:16] Speaker A: I guess so. I guess so. Yeah. They're still number one on my power rankings. I've been doing well on the, on on these player props, so I'm not really happy about this. I put a little more money than I'm used to on these player props. [00:27:29] Speaker B: You gotta always bet the same amount. I told you, as soon as you get greedy, you get screwed. That's just how it works. [00:27:35] Speaker A: Yeah, dude. Yeah, yeah. [00:27:38] Speaker B: Didn't we elaborate this on like the Jordan Love Week 1 where it's like, oh, man, I, I boosted Jordan Love and the packers and they screwed me. I'm not doing that again. [00:27:45] Speaker A: Oh, dude. I lost like a couple hundred bucks those first few weeks just betting on. [00:27:50] Speaker B: Now he's like, I'm up. [00:27:50] Speaker A: I'm up a little bit. [00:27:51] Speaker B: I'm breaking even. I just broke past Rock Purdy on Monday night. [00:27:56] Speaker A: I called the Tennessee game. I called the, I had the Bears at the Steelers. Thank God that came through. Lots of the Chargers cost on a seven leg parlay. That would have made me so much money, man. God, the, the Rams also killed it too. I was killing the morning and then afternoon. Top man could have paid. [00:28:22] Speaker C: Everybody doesn't make money, Rome. Don't listen to Aaron, man. The only way you're gonna make money is, man, you got, you gotta double down. I don't. [00:28:28] Speaker A: Oh my God. I love it. I love it worstly. It's money I can't afford to lose. Smart business decision. [00:28:34] Speaker B: I mean, what's Jason betting over there in Georgia then, man? [00:28:37] Speaker A: I know. [00:28:37] Speaker B: I mean, I, I, I mean, double up on Georgia. [00:28:41] Speaker A: Is, is this the club type of Georgia? [00:28:44] Speaker C: I don't know what the club type of Georgia is. I'm just in the state of Georgia, you know, I don't know. [00:28:49] Speaker B: He was there last year too. I don't know, two years ago. [00:28:53] Speaker C: Okay. [00:28:55] Speaker A: Clubs that you need, like a lot of ones, you know. [00:28:57] Speaker C: Oh, you're talking about the Atlanta, the clubs in Atlanta. You're talking about Magic City. [00:29:02] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:29:03] Speaker B: Those clubs with the chicken wings at the Hawks game. Yeah, they canceled that Right. They canceled that. [00:29:08] Speaker C: Yeah, they canceled that. [00:29:10] Speaker B: I don't know why. Cost them a playoff series win. [00:29:13] Speaker A: Yeah. All right, NFL recap. Here we go. A lot of ugly football. Same thing just like in college football. Some shitty refereeing going around. We had some good wins, some bad wins. No ass whooping of the week. We have like, no nominee this week. [00:29:30] Speaker B: No. [00:29:31] Speaker A: No ass whooping nominee here. [00:29:34] Speaker B: I mean, to me, just some bad Chargers, like, good wins. [00:29:38] Speaker A: It wasn't even like it was actually close. Close than what that score looked like. It wasn't a good. That wasn't a good game at all. No, no. Titans, Colts. That was ugly, Carl. [00:29:49] Speaker C: The Bears, Falcons. The Bears. [00:29:50] Speaker B: Falcons would have been but an ass weapon. [00:29:53] Speaker C: Yeah. Their starters. And then all the Bears pulled their starters and all of a sudden Falcons got two scores. [00:30:01] Speaker B: Is that what happened with the Saints against the Giants? That's exactly what happened. [00:30:04] Speaker A: Yeah, that happened to the Saints. [00:30:07] Speaker B: Your guy JJ gets 243 yards. [00:30:10] Speaker A: Dude. Impressive. Arch Banning, like at the end of the game. Oh, a little fighting there. We'll see what happens here. [00:30:19] Speaker C: You confused me. I thought this game was over with already, you know. [00:30:22] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. No, a lot of games this week. It should have been over. They could have put the icing on the cake. And, and, and. They let them back in. They let them back in. All right, let's talk about close games then. I actually, I think the biggest victory this weekend was actually Texans over the Jags. Really impressive game from CJ Stroud. You have his homeboy, newly acquired from the Cardinals, touching down in London town. Jaguars had a pretty good game themselves. Hunter interception, touchdown. Playing on both sides of the field. But Texans showing up big time when it mattered. Now they're probably the best looking 2 and 4 team out there. [00:31:05] Speaker C: I mean, the Texans didn't know the season starts in September. I think this is two or three years in a row now. They. They show up in October, but yeah, I mean, you talked about the defense, you know, for two years now. Rome, Aaron as well, finally showed up. I think it was impressive kind of on both ends. It was another good international game. It didn't start out, I think, great, but I think it definitely picked up there to the end. But Stroud looked good, you know, able to spread the ball around, you know, kind of surprising how much Trevor Lawrence got off against that front four, you know, for how competitive the game was. But yeah, I would say good win for the Texans in a. Still a very winnable AFC south. Even though you start owing four, you know, they're only with the win over the Jags. With the Jags leading, the Colts are faltering and the Titans are the Titans. So, I mean, the Texans giving themselves a chance because you can't fall the 1 in 5. [00:31:59] Speaker A: I'm glad you brought the Colts, man, because I don't know if we've been critical of their GM here on the pod. I can't remember whether Aaron was for them, but me and you, Jace, we're kind of talking about, hey, dude, Steichen, he. He's hanging on to dear life on that job. And now that the GM got fired, that's in play, baby. Aaron, how do you feel about Steichen? [00:32:23] Speaker B: Good. I mean, I've been calling for him to get fired all year. I want him out of there. I mean, didn't I say week one that he'd be the next coach of the Philadelphia Eagles? [00:32:33] Speaker A: Oh, my God. I just don't see that happening. [00:32:36] Speaker B: So. No, I mean, I'm not surprised. That or he's gonna be the next OC of the Chargers. So I think one or two are both on the table. But yeah, I mean, look, I. I didn't get the whole trade for Sauce Gardner. And giving up two first round picks for a cornerback, that's bad to me, is overrated. And that trade has looked bad from day one, obviously too. You dropped Anthony Richardson. Was he the third pick, fourth pick in the draft? [00:32:59] Speaker A: Six. [00:33:00] Speaker B: Six. [00:33:00] Speaker A: Something like that. Yeah, that. [00:33:01] Speaker B: I mean, so. [00:33:02] Speaker A: But not good. [00:33:04] Speaker B: Not good. [00:33:04] Speaker A: The draft gets you fired. [00:33:06] Speaker B: I mean, if you go look at that game, I mean, I looked at the box score yesterday. You get a blocked punt, that gets returned for a touchdown. I mean, look, if they had 399 to what? 186. But the turnover is the difference in the game. Daniel Jones, I also got sacked six times versus the Colts, got zero sacks. [00:33:22] Speaker A: You know, I feel bad for Daniel Jones because he's trying to play there, but man, you're talking like a mobile quarterback all of a sudden. He's still. He's obviously like that Achilles is still not back yet. And he's real. It takes about 18. And they got him trotting around like from week one. Like they should have kept him out at least for like another half of the year, brought somebody else out and just kind of cut, you know, cut this a developmental year because they already gave him a big contract. So let him sit out, work that, you know, work that Achilles back to health because he's struggling out there. Obviously. He's still getting like some pretty decent stats. But the Guy can't move. He gets hit a lot. That, that Achilles is not even close. He's not even close. [00:33:59] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean look, it's, it's a bad loss for the Colts just in the fashion in which it went down. Typical NFL fashion where a team is dominating. We're kind of just watching here on Monday night. And then you gotta, you gotta protect for your life at the goal line to save a game. Tough, tough loss for the Colts. Now they go to go play the Vikings at Minnesota. Coming off a buy likely going to be another loss there. I would not be surprised if Shane Steichen does not make it to week 18 the way things are going there. So yeah, [00:34:31] Speaker C: you, you mentioned the GM and this Chris Ballard, the gm now former GM of the Colts. I, I think you're right. Rome. This is one potentially under the radar. I saw this on, on x today. The first round picks of the Colts is 2021. 2021. Was it Quitty Paell was there 2021? [00:34:54] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:34:55] Speaker C: Okay. 2022, they didn't have one because they traded it for Carson Wentz. [00:35:00] Speaker B: Okay. [00:35:00] Speaker A: Oh yeah. [00:35:01] Speaker C: 2020, 2023 was Anthony Richardson. [00:35:04] Speaker B: Okay. [00:35:06] Speaker A: A little stretch out of Florida. Yeah. [00:35:08] Speaker C: 2024 was lie to Latu. [00:35:11] Speaker B: Latu out of UCLA. Yeah, he's been a disappointment. [00:35:14] Speaker A: Yep. [00:35:15] Speaker C: 25 was Tyler Warren, but he's been good. [00:35:19] Speaker B: He's been all right. Okay. All right. [00:35:21] Speaker C: And now 26 and 27 don't have first round picks. [00:35:26] Speaker A: I mean it's just as bad as the Niners draft picks if you look, if you take a look at that. But honestly. [00:35:30] Speaker B: Yeah, not good Niners draft picks. I mean, look, I think lynch, we've talked about this. Lynch fails on first round picks. But what they do day two and three is probably the best in the league. And that's what they're winning with basically. Third, fourth and fifth round picks. [00:35:45] Speaker C: Now they're great. [00:35:46] Speaker B: They cannot draft first rounders worth of. But the middle rounds, you know what [00:35:52] Speaker A: they remind me of? The Lakers, Lakers hit on undrafted guys, second round guys and just. [00:36:01] Speaker B: They just dropped. They just dropped your guy. Connect. They just got rid of him. They just waited. [00:36:05] Speaker A: The first rounder. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:36:07] Speaker B: And the second round there's Bronnie James is even still on the roster. [00:36:10] Speaker C: He's doing pretty good team. [00:36:12] Speaker A: He's pretty good. He's looking pretty solid. [00:36:15] Speaker C: I think there, I, I think there's, there's definitely a theory. I think is some of these GMs. I think you mentioned the Niners. I think The Rams also do this as well too. I think the Colts have this strategy, but if you look at the rams and the 49ers, two of the better ones in the league, I don't think they value first round picks as much given the pay structure and like the financial commitment to the cap that is tied to first round. Well, I mean when you think about, you know, where they pay big guys in those teams, it's like, hey, they're established guys, they pay them. The first round picks carry a certain cost. Second round, second and third round picks, if you think the value isn't as, you know, hey, you don't have a big difference between like the 24th overall pick and a pick in the second round. These guys trade back. I think they save money against the cap, you get more value. And I think that's a lot of thinking because like I can't. Like this year for Simpson was the first time the Rams have had a first round pick forever. And I think they don't have any, you know, for the next couple years going forward. So they don't spend the money on what a lot of these teams have from the first round. So I think there's a lot of roster construction that value that in a different way where Darren's point Niners, hey, you build up through the second through fourth round of these guys because hey, it's a much better contract deal in these guys is prime. [00:37:26] Speaker A: You know, it's crazy with Nil, you're gonna have a lot more guys staying there longer. The draft is just going to get so much deeper and better in those later rounds as well. Like unless they're bonafide home run hits in the first round. And you know, take a look at the quarterback class coming in. All those guys don't look like they're going to be home run hits, you know, right away. So you might have something there. [00:37:46] Speaker B: I mean, isn't there even a consensus guy coming out of college as a first pick in the draft? [00:37:50] Speaker A: Not anymore. No. No. Everyone's kind of floundering. [00:37:53] Speaker B: Dante Moore, Arch Manning, everybody's like, if we could get him at 31st pick [00:37:58] Speaker A: in the draft, maybe we do the best so far. [00:38:01] Speaker C: Well, right now a wide receiver may go first overall in the draft this year. So. [00:38:05] Speaker B: You're right. [00:38:05] Speaker A: Yeah, you're right. Absolutely right. [00:38:07] Speaker B: But was Ballard there when Andrew Luck retired? Was he the gm? Had he taken over? [00:38:12] Speaker A: Retired in his second year. Yeah. [00:38:13] Speaker B: So look at the Colts have always been chasing since then. Right. [00:38:16] Speaker A: I mean, it was an unexpected retirement. [00:38:18] Speaker B: Yeah. And I Think Rome. You always talk about kind of like soccer managers getting fired a year, year and a half. I think NFL's, football, GMs, coaches, like, everybody's chasing wins instead of going through a process. And that's what I actually admire about what the Niners have done. Because how many times have you talked about. Everybody's all, we hate Kyle Shanahan. They went 5 and 12. He should be fired. He should be fired three years ago. Now the guy's 6, 0 again on the verge of taking a team that's banged up every year. [00:38:49] Speaker A: Because I would have fired him six years ago. [00:38:51] Speaker B: Yeah. And all these guys do is find ways to win. So I think if you stay patient, [00:38:56] Speaker A: a little patience goes a long way. [00:38:58] Speaker B: Yeah, can go a long ways. Now. Ballard had been there a long time and he made some bad moves. And Jason just mentioned them. He's not hit on anything since Pre covered it, sounds like. [00:39:07] Speaker A: And give it to Carly Rae Jepsen. You know, she. Or whatever her name is, you know, she stepped up and pulled the plug and she's like, you know, we're gonna make some moves. Rumors are they're gonna try to talk Peyton Manning. Are they coming back? But he's not that kind of guy. [00:39:20] Speaker B: He's got too much money in media to give that gig up, man. [00:39:24] Speaker A: Apparently he loves Denver and the kids are. Yeah. So I don't know. [00:39:27] Speaker B: I. I don't see him. I don't see him giving that up. Okay, maybe. Maybe like a kind of Dan Marino special advisory role. Maybe he'd be entertain it. But this guy likes hanging out. Denver Nuggets games on Wednesdays during the week. Come on. [00:39:40] Speaker A: All right, let's get back on track here with recapping the league here. I thought Jets, I. I know they lost and, and the record's not great. And, and their coach, Aaron Glenn, I'm not sure whether he's fighting to keep his job or not, but I think this jets team has looked pretty competitive so far this year. A lot better than what they're like. The Cowboys, for instance. Cowboys. Their. Their coach, I know, is pretty up on. On him, you know, great first year, but he's a little over his head now. But, Glenn, are you guys buying, like, how competitive they are? Like they should have beat the past this past weekend. Like they outperformed them in many fasts of the game. They just picked up another loss, though. But I think it was a pretty good loss. They've had several of these good losses down this year. [00:40:22] Speaker C: They're definitely a more competitive Team. My biggest problem when you look at the jets right now is what's the future with them in the quarterback situation and. [00:40:32] Speaker A: Future. [00:40:33] Speaker C: Yeah. And when you look at Aaron Glenn, is he going to get the offensive coordinator that's going to get you know, whatever they figure out a quarterback. That's if they, if, if they're going to draft a quarterback they get, you know, you get a pretty deep draft of. I, I don't, you know, above average prospect coming up. You're trying to pick up the litter. The jets might get one of those. Jets have, the jets might have three picks in the first 12 picks right now. [00:40:57] Speaker A: Really? That's kind of cool. [00:40:59] Speaker C: They have the Colt, they have the Colts their own and the Cowboys first round picks right now. So you know they're going to be lined up, they're going to be lined up to, to get probably the quarterback of their choosing. You know what is going to be Aaron Glenn's plan? You know I don't think it's a competitive this season. They have a lot of pieces in order. But is Aaron Glenn gonna be the guy that's going to find your offensive, you know, quarterback developer and everything to go up and then when they go next season, now you got a rookie quarterback. This is going to be year three of the airing Glenn experiment. Like I just don't know like the overall vision when it comes to, we talked about this in the previous podcast. When it comes to Shanahan McVeigh, Ben Johnson, Liam Cohen, what's the guy in Carolina, Dave Canales. Like. Like all these guys are like hey, both of the LaFleur brothers, you guys have these offensive minded guys that are there to develop what is going to be an offensive play of the game and you don't see like the defensive coach is kind of the exception. It's, it's, it's, it's. We talked about Seattle and potentially maybe you're looking at the Houston Texans. [00:42:03] Speaker A: Seattle's so far this year. [00:42:05] Speaker C: Yeah. So I, that, that'd be my question for the Jets. Like you, you're talking about the long term future of the organization. What's your plan at quarterback even if you have all these pieces? [00:42:16] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. [00:42:17] Speaker B: I mean the jets are an interesting team. Rome, they are playing better, a lot more competitive. [00:42:22] Speaker A: I mean I know the defense still pretty bad. It should be a lot better for having Aaron Glass a coach. [00:42:28] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean they, they put up some good effort. I mean they got the Dolphins this week coming up off a buy. It'd be interesting to see how they finish Right. I mean, they're two and four right now. What's the magic number? Is it seven wins? Is it eight wins? I mean, if he only gets five or six, did they make a move to get rid of them? Like Jason's point said, like, are you going to take a quarterback and then are you going to get a guy that comes in that wants to be an offensive guy to lead that? So we'll see. I mean, Aaron Glenn, I mean, I touched on it last year. I was not high on that. Higher. [00:43:02] Speaker A: No. [00:43:03] Speaker B: And it's been an underwhelming hire so far, so we'll, we'll see how that takes shape. [00:43:10] Speaker A: Yeah. Speaking of underwhelming hires Dallas Cowboys, man, now they're two and four. I was up on their offense. They had a great off season, but so far it's been dog do. Aaron, your Packers 4, 2 now back for the dead alive. Are they still going to get lost in the division? Are they going to compete and try to vie for one of the three playoff spots that come out of that division? That's pretty interesting, man. They've looked really impressive. Jordan Love brought more love. [00:43:35] Speaker B: I got two bull takes if you want at Rome right now. [00:43:37] Speaker A: Let's hear it. [00:43:38] Speaker B: Since on both these teams you were talking about, packers will finish last in the division. Dallas Cowboys will win the division. [00:43:47] Speaker A: Still. [00:43:48] Speaker B: Yes, given I, I don't trust the Giants in the long run. The Eagles are done. And the commanders, I don't trust them either. I think the Cowboys have the most talent and they'll be able to figure things out and get right and win the division. Maybe at 8 and 9. 8 and 9 might be enough to win the division. [00:44:03] Speaker C: I was gonna say. [00:44:04] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:44:04] Speaker C: Does eight wins win the division? [00:44:06] Speaker B: I mean, it does. [00:44:07] Speaker A: This is just a bad year, like the year from hell for the Eagles especially, man. Hertz came out earlier today that he's out for the season. Really weird last few days. Jason. I don't know if you kind of kept up on like X and like some of the weird reporting there, but their team, man, Eagles fans, they are not happy with their own organization right now. They are burning them at the stakes saying like, how the hell can you keep our quarterback up till four in the morning getting treatment? And that's where you find out that he actually has a blood clot in London and say that he cannot sleep for 36 hours because it's a health risk. It's a health risk to sleep. You let him play and, and have 41 attempts plus in that game against the Jags and then you fly him back home when every doctor, every medical person, everyone who knows anything about blood clots knows that you cannot do that. And now he is out indefinitely because now there's blood clots in his lungs. Like they are getting on X today. And, and, Right. [00:45:05] Speaker B: I'd be curious. I'm not no doctor. If, if those blood clots in the lung weren't there previous to him flying, I'd be really curious to know that [00:45:13] Speaker A: she's from the flying. [00:45:14] Speaker B: I, it could be Rome. I think you're onto something. [00:45:16] Speaker A: I think the Eagles are in deep. [00:45:19] Speaker C: Yeah, I, there, there was a lot of cya by a lot of people on X today after some of the initial reports went out for, you know, the timeline of like, I think certain events because I, I don't know what version of the, the story they're trying to say. I know we're playing through injury and stuff like that, but yeah, that's their [00:45:41] Speaker A: initial story out the window. It's false. [00:45:43] Speaker C: Yeah, I, it was, yeah, I, I, it was, it was tough reading the different updates because the clarity and stuff like that because. Yeah. What you talking about? The conversation online, like, what do you, like, why was this guy even allowed to play? And so either they weren't telling the whole truth or they were just leaving out certain parts of the stories. But yeah, I can see because number one, you know, you want everyone to be, you know, healthy going into this when you're playing something around blood clots and stuff, man, that's just crazy. I mean, and then I think the other part of this story, they released Andy Dalton and then we're trying to get him to come back and he said, no, thanks. [00:46:24] Speaker B: Yeah. And signed with the Falcons today. [00:46:25] Speaker C: Okay. It was the Falcons. He signed with them. [00:46:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I saw that. They asked him to come back. He said, no, I'm gonna sign some with somebody else. And then he signed with the Falcons. Philadelphia is a mess, guys. Let's be honest. They are a mess right now. [00:46:37] Speaker C: I know there's deeper think pieces and stuff on the foul or the Eagles and stuff on, on a salary cap stuff because I, I think there's a lot of thoughts like they are going to really be hard up against the salary cap and this could be just like the beginning of the end because of like deferred money and stuff that they've done, you know, to maintain some of this core and kind of the run they're at right now. And so I, you know, I know they already started trading some of those pieces going into The London game, when it looked offensive lineman and st. Like that, you know, you now have this out. Like, you know, what more maybe is off the table or what they can do for a financial flexibility standpoint. Because I know, you know, the salary cap's got a whole manipulative thing too, but there's certain things that you do. Like the Kings of deferment. Yeah. I mean, you remember the Saints were [00:47:22] Speaker B: like, he's a smart guy when it comes to the cap. [00:47:24] Speaker A: Yeah. I. I think they might actually rumor. It looks like they're setting it up for 28, kind of like a restart. But now it's like, dude, now you got hurts with all these injuries. I don't know. I won't spend too much time because I just don't want to. [00:47:38] Speaker B: Eagles, whether or not they kind of start tanking and doing whatever they want. Howie Roseman knows how to evaluate talent. He's not afraid to pull triggers for trades. He's not afraid to gather assets for the draft. [00:47:50] Speaker A: Right. [00:47:50] Speaker B: They're a team that I believe that can regroup pretty quickly, but they're going to need to get the right coach in there because obviously Sirianni is not the guy. [00:47:57] Speaker A: Well, and someone eventually have to take the fall for how they dealt with this hurts thing. It. It's going to get ugly. I. I feel like someone's head's gonna fall for it because it's not a good look. [00:48:05] Speaker B: It's gonna be. It's gonna be that. It's gotta be the whole medical team. Right. [00:48:09] Speaker A: And the fact you gotta get rid of the Eagles fans. They're gonna probably go to every game still. They're gonna still cheer for their team, but they're gonna cuss Howie, the coach, the whole staff out for the rest of the year. And I'm buying it. [00:48:19] Speaker B: Dude, they didn't win the game. See, if they'd won that game, they might have given them half a pass, but since they lost London, it's even worse. [00:48:26] Speaker A: I lost that last minute because they kicked the ball. [00:48:29] Speaker B: They kicked the ball to the Jags when they didn't even need to do that BS and get beat on a last second field goal. [00:48:34] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Thank you for reminding me. Yeah, I lost that one, too. All right, real quick, though. Saints really impressive holding on to the Giants. Dude, what's up? McCarthy coming back from the dead. 248 yards. Touchdown. Interception. [00:48:47] Speaker B: Hold your boat. Hold your bolt down, McCarthy. Let's see what he does against the Texans this week in Rome. [00:48:51] Speaker A: I would not play him against the Texans like Cinema how, dude, you want to build his confidence, not shut it down. Texas on the heater right now. I feel like Texas is going to go on like a 7, 8 game winning streak right here and get things right here. Cardinals big ups over the Rams. I think Rams are in deep shit. If we have like a. Like who's in the biggest deep house right now. Rams might be number one here. [00:49:13] Speaker B: Absolutely two and four. Adam Adams. They lost two starting defense alignment. [00:49:20] Speaker A: The offensive line is bad. McVeigh. What the hell has he been doing this? You know, the first few games he's been getting hurt the parl necks as well. [00:49:27] Speaker B: I heard McVeigh was talking about to ESPN about negotiating for joining the Monday night booth taking. [00:49:33] Speaker A: So many people are saying like, dude, just get the hell out of coaching. Did you look burnt out, dude? [00:49:37] Speaker B: This guy like have you ever seen [00:49:38] Speaker A: a guy cracked out, like ready to burn out? It's McVeigh, man. He's ready to go. Like he is burned out. Too much coffee. Just go in the booth. I think it might be. [00:49:45] Speaker C: Well, they said that too. They said that after he won the super bowl is basically. He was like, all right, I'm gonna retire right now. Like mad. [00:49:50] Speaker B: Yeah, but now he's not even gonna make the playoffs. I think it's real. I think I talked real now. [00:49:54] Speaker A: I. I think if they have a bad season though, like he can't go out that way. He's not to come back. They got Garrett, they brought Darnold back. They have to go at it again. [00:50:04] Speaker B: He's gonna retire right, right, right away. Not he's only back. He's getting 30 million. [00:50:10] Speaker A: Hell, dude. Season from hell. From the Rams, man, I feel bad for them. Bill's impressive win. Raiders are scratchy, dude. They're a funky group. I like them scratchy. [00:50:26] Speaker B: What if the Raiders are scratchy from [00:50:28] Speaker C: the Simpsons [00:50:31] Speaker A: I saw scratchy show earlier? [00:50:34] Speaker B: The Raiders are a good back door. That's what they do. They backdoor cover. [00:50:37] Speaker A: Thank God the Niners won but messed up my parlays. Thank you, Brock. Thank you. [00:50:43] Speaker B: Should have taken the under like I told you. Rome under 52 is a winner. Premium play. [00:50:47] Speaker A: That was pretty good. Yeah, I don't know how to do unders on this stupid couchy thing. Bears, nice bounce back Titans. I like calling that regret taking the Chargers and that upset against the Chiefs. But that was the ugly game. My Steelers coming back from the dead in the fourth quarter to win that one. That was really nice against the Bucks. I really like Jalen Daniels there. He's obviously a Rookie quarterback, undrafted, but a lot of talent there. [00:51:11] Speaker B: Like Baker Mayfield's back this week, right? [00:51:15] Speaker A: Is he? Yeah, should be. [00:51:18] Speaker C: He was trying to play this, he was trying to play this game, but they, they felt he wasn't quite right. [00:51:23] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Thank God your, your, your Steelers division [00:51:28] Speaker C: though the AFC north there, man, everyone's got, you got tight race. [00:51:32] Speaker A: Yeah. You know what, the Browns divisions are phonies, dude. How the hell are they gonna play like shit for three, three and a half quarters? And now desean Watson now, now he has four come from behind victories, game winning drives, he gets two completions and gets the victory. And then he's like, you know, parading around and you know, go getting a massage at the end of the game. Like, I'm not buying it, dude. Like, they're like, I think they're like a negative 18 differential on points. Same thing as the Bucks, except one team is four and two, the other team is one and four or, or whatever it is. It's, it's embarrassing. When is it going to end? [00:52:10] Speaker B: All right, are we talking about the Browns here? Roll? [00:52:12] Speaker A: Yeah, dude. Talking about the Browns. [00:52:14] Speaker C: Well, they play the Titans this week, so it may not end this week. [00:52:17] Speaker A: You know, [00:52:19] Speaker C: so they might be, they might be five and two going to Pittsburgh the week after. [00:52:25] Speaker A: You know, I'm not sure if you like their hiring of the coach, but this team is playing a little bit differently. And despite like Deshaun looking like crap for like three now, you know, three and a half quarters, like he has been I guess decent in the latter half of all these games. And 4, 4 and 2, that was not on my bingo card, but it's a, I mean everyone, the division, just like your guys division is, is winning right now. [00:52:50] Speaker B: The key is for the Browns, Rome is a, they've always pretty. Had a pretty solid defense and their defense has been good again. But Sean Watson's only got two interceptions. They're not turning the ball over. [00:53:01] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:53:01] Speaker B: So literally they just want to keep the game close. And then Watson, he's still got pretty good mobility. I mean a lot of people you said, hey, I would start. Shadur. Shadur is going to get traded, he's going to get released, whatever they're going to do with him. Watson was a guy, veteran leadership. Todd Monkin has kind of brought that attitude like, hey, I'm 60 years old. Nobody thought I could coach the Browns as the Browns, they're buying into that and they're winning football games. And to Jason's point, they should beat the Titans because the Titans I think are probably the worst team in the league despite this win last week. And then they get the Steelers when they come back from London. So it's actually perfect timing right now for the Browns to get to 6 and 2. Not saying for sure they will. The NFL schedule setting up nicely for them to get to 6 and 2. [00:53:45] Speaker C: I mean you could make an, you could make an argument, man, because they, I mean they're getting the Steelers coming back. Then they, I mean they got three road games, but they got three road games against the Titans. The Steelers returning like you said. And then they go to the Saints who. Saints are good, but like it's still, it's still a disappointing game for them. Yeah, I mean they're this, this is the reaps of the, the last play schedule a lot of times and things kind of fall your way and all of a sudden, you know, the Browns could be looking nice. I mean the end of the year they're gonna, you know, they're gonna play the Colts, they're gonna play the Giants. You know, a Falcons team that who knows playing quarterback. They play the Raiders. Yeah. I mean there's, there's. [00:54:25] Speaker A: Raiders are good. [00:54:26] Speaker C: They are, they're. They're scratchy as you said before. [00:54:29] Speaker A: Scratchy. Yeah. [00:54:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, look, I think the best bet was probably Browns over five and a half wins or whatever it was. [00:54:36] Speaker A: Did we have that or. [00:54:37] Speaker B: No, they could have that done by October, it looks like. [00:54:39] Speaker A: Well, it looks like they're gonna. Yeah, probably. [00:54:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:54:42] Speaker A: No. 4 and 2. 4 and 2. 4 and two. Bengals there at 3 and 2. They had the bye week this past week. Jags running away in their vision. But don't count the Texans. I still like the tax in the long run to come from behind Texas [00:54:55] Speaker B: is a long shot to win the Super Bowl. Rome, you should get on that now if you can find it on Kalshi. [00:55:00] Speaker A: I still like him to, to compete, man. I still like him to compete. [00:55:03] Speaker B: If CJ Stroud keeps playing that way, then they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. [00:55:07] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean Bills you like, you like [00:55:09] Speaker C: you, you like the upcoming slate? If you're the, the Texans right now because you're going to play a Giants team that you know is still, you know, they gotta, they've won some games but questions around all over that team. [00:55:22] Speaker B: They're getting, they're getting a turnover quarterback prone. Whether it's J.J.R. jamis, either one turnover prone quarterback. [00:55:28] Speaker A: You know what, you're right. It's for the Cowboys to turn around and they're two and four. They're only a game out. And yeah, I mean it's a down year for that division. [00:55:37] Speaker C: There's a run for the Texans. I'm going back to the Texans on this. You got Giants, you go at the Chargers, then you play at the Browns, which is a little harder than usual, but still should be a winnable game for them. And then they get the Colts at home. So they got four straight at Texans. Like very winnable games. [00:55:52] Speaker A: Yeah. And then everyone in your guys division, Vikings still undefeated. Pack, bears 4 and 2 and then Lions right there in 3 and 2. They had a bye week, right? Yeah, I forgot to put them in my, in my power rankings somewhere. Like in the top 15. I gotta reassess that. I totally forgot about the blinds. They have just been underwhelming for me so far. Any comments, any other Comments from the NFL Week 6? Nothing, I would say. [00:56:22] Speaker B: Nice road victory for the Panthers. That was a nice win for them. [00:56:26] Speaker A: They were supposed to win that. It's nice to see them win games that they're supposed to win now. [00:56:30] Speaker B: Exactly. [00:56:30] Speaker A: This is, it's a good step. Yeah. [00:56:33] Speaker B: That's failed to win big games. I'm surprised Jason didn't jump on them. You know, this is number two team, second two team. [00:56:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:56:40] Speaker C: And then I thought Jags with the number two team. [00:56:42] Speaker B: Okay. [00:56:46] Speaker C: I think they were already there. They were there. You just, you know, you guys just [00:56:49] Speaker B: don't want to believe in the Panther mixed up. Panther, Jag. I get them, you know, I get them mixed up in the jungle. [00:56:56] Speaker C: The 1995 expansion teams, remember, you know, you got to know the difference between the two. [00:57:03] Speaker B: I, I'd put 10 bucks on, I put 5 bucks on that account in Cal State for Super bowl Rome. Jags vs. Panthers. Give it a shot. Scared money don't make money. Follow Jason's advice. Five dollar bet right there. [00:57:13] Speaker A: That sounds like it. [00:57:14] Speaker B: I'll back half of it for 250. [00:57:15] Speaker A: Right now I gotta figure out like basically I just lost all the money I made this weekend on, on these stupid prop bets. So there goes the last thing. [00:57:26] Speaker C: Last thoughts for me. I would just say we kind of glossed over a little bit. But the Chargers falling to oh and six Chiefs, you know, fairly dominated that game, but Chargers owing six. Man, this is not what we thought the Harbaugh rebuild was going to be. They tore that team down a couple years ago, you know, got rid of veteran players, cleared a bunch of cap building. All this thing around Justin Herbert, you know, are they, are they firing McDaniel and you know, there, I think rumors on X, they're potentially bringing in Adam Gase or something like that to be offensive there. [00:57:57] Speaker A: Right. [00:57:58] Speaker C: Is he there or. I don't know. [00:57:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Talking about him being the office. There's a passing game coordinator. I don't know what he's there for, but he's been there. [00:58:07] Speaker C: Okay. So I, it's very, it's. I think this is, this is probably the biggest, like, I don't know, the most disappointing Jim Harbaugh season that I can remember. I mean, he had some stuff that was questions not beating Ohio State at Michigan for a little while. But you know, when you looked at his record in, you know, Stanford and the 49ers and the success he had there, I mean, this is, this is year three, year three now of his year, year three. And man, I think this is, this went bad quickly and I think we were to the point, you know, they could be 09 or something at their point. I forgot looking at the schedule, but man, this, this is, this is crazy. They're not one of the worst teams in the league. We shouldn't be talking about the Dolphins or even the Titans, but man, being oh and six, this is crazy for this team. [00:58:56] Speaker B: It's interesting because, yeah, the Chargers, there's a lot of things the Chargers can do now, right? I mean, do you just. They're not making the playoffs, so do you stay in the top five draft pick window? I mean, right now they could be projected to get the top three or four picks given who had. Teams may need a quarterback. Maybe they get, you know, Jeremiah Smith or somebody like that, a high end wide receiver. They could use a big X wide out and they have a lot of money like we mentioned on the salary cap space as well. McDaniels. We'll see what he does. They're gonna, they got the bye week coming up, which is good for them. Then they get the Rams, I believe after the buy. But yeah, things are going south pretty quickly for them. But yeah, I mean, hardball. I think the only time really things were this bad was the COVID year at Michigan. I think he went three and five and remember Michigan was kind of. That was year three or four there. Michigan was pretty unhappy. He gave a million dollars back to the, to the salary office salary to the university. And then he kind of changed up the coaching staff. He went with a lot of young guys. He brought in Jesse Menor went to the young OCS and kind of changed this thing. And that's why Rome, you Kind of talk about people talking about getting me a hardball, hardball. You can see the frustration when you look at him on the sidelines. He's really unhappy. This is like a guy that lives and breeds football. So he'll take this losing year, evaluate everything and come back with a hunger and unknown to man and bring in a whole new staff and try to. [01:00:18] Speaker A: I think what they need is a new quarterback. [01:00:19] Speaker B: They could do that too. I mean there's a lot of high level NFL executives saying you get three first round picks. So I would call the jets and see if they're interested. Herbert. [01:00:28] Speaker A: Yeah, get out of here. Jason, do you agree with that three? [01:00:32] Speaker B: No, that's what high NFL executives are seeing. I saw the report last week on their hire. They brought it. [01:00:37] Speaker A: They're definitely high. I, I believe that. [01:00:39] Speaker C: I mean but there, there, there's an obsession with these guys with the evaluators where this, you know, the overall passers that he's got this talent. But I mean you're in year what, six or seven and I think there's still, you know, a lot to be desired for where, where the opportunities are with Justin Herbert. So I know, I know that, I know the trade that myself and fellow Bears fans want the Chargers to make and he needs to Jim Harbaugh. I want Khalil Mack. [01:01:05] Speaker B: He's available. [01:01:07] Speaker C: He needs to come back to the Bears, man. That's what the Bears need. [01:01:10] Speaker B: According to my Raiders source, he told the Raiders after the game he wants to go back to the Raiders, but I don't know how much I believe that. [01:01:17] Speaker C: I think, I think he needs to come home to Chicago. You know, we started something in 28, 2018. I can pull the Khalil Mack Bears jersey out of retirement out of the [01:01:27] Speaker B: for a fifth, sixth round pick. [01:01:28] Speaker C: Yeah, I'll give you a fifth or sixth. What do you want? [01:01:30] Speaker B: I, I, I think if you're the Chargers, why not you're not resigning the guy. He's probably retiring at seasons in, I [01:01:38] Speaker A: mean based on this year, make anyone retire. All right, cool. Nice little recap. I think we kind of covered everything. New power rankings coming out tomorrow. I guess I got some, I got some figuring out of who to put in the top eight. We have a few dropouts. Ravens are dropping out, Seahawks are dropping out. So two new teams are going to be back. Does Jason's Bears make it back? Aaron was protesting. No, he was protesting some other teams. [01:02:04] Speaker B: Well, if you don't have you got to pick Green Bay over the Bears realm. They just beat him they beat him 31 7. The tape doesn't lie. [01:02:12] Speaker A: This guy's the most volatile rank a team like 20 places as him once the. [01:02:17] Speaker C: The tape lies. When they beat Tyson Bent. They didn't beat Caleb Williams. [01:02:21] Speaker B: I. I would agree. I would agree with that. But you know, one guy's got it. One guy's on the field every week. Jordan Love. The other guy's on the cart saying he's out for the season. So, hey, we'll see him in December or Thanksgiving weekend whenever they show back up again. But like I said, I still like the Bears long run better than the Packers. I'm not saying I haven't Packers. [01:02:39] Speaker A: I don't know, man. Like, I'm kind of buying the packers up. And then you got their running back. [01:02:43] Speaker B: I like back next week. Detroit. I'm going to tell you right now, guaranteed Detroit beats the. The packers this weekend. Guarantee right now on a Monday. [01:02:50] Speaker A: I love Campbell. I bet you they're biting the bit to like. No one's talking about us. See what happens? I don't know. [01:02:58] Speaker C: Biting the bit? [01:03:00] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:03:01] Speaker A: Is that a phrase? [01:03:03] Speaker C: I think it is. I think it's a horse. A horse racing. [01:03:05] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [01:03:06] Speaker A: Cool, man. You're making me a second guess myself here. [01:03:09] Speaker C: I'm just. You're just pulling stuff out, you know, it's just. [01:03:12] Speaker B: Okay. I mean, the big question for Green Bay is Josh Jacob's going to see the field on Sunday since he's came off the commissioner's exempt list. [01:03:18] Speaker A: It's amazing, dude. [01:03:19] Speaker B: It's amazing that he just took guys on. I think. I think the NFL has a policy. They didn't say that you can only keep these guys on 6 weeks unless evidence comes out. Because they let Cooper from the Denver off the list, too. I'm guessing it's part of the. I'm guessing there's only certain. Yeah. Usually these guys on the list until a video or something otherwise comes out. [01:03:37] Speaker A: I wish that would apply with Adrian Peterson ten years ago, but. [01:03:40] Speaker B: Well, then did some video come out of him with like a by the [01:03:43] Speaker A: way, I don't know if you guys had a chance, but maybe we could talk about it one day, though. But New York Times crazy story about O.J. that he might have done it and he had accomplice. I don't know. We could talk about some other time, but the Juice. Juice on. The Juice is back. [01:03:57] Speaker B: The Juice ain't worth the squeeze here, Rome. The juice ain't worth the squeeze, brother. [01:04:03] Speaker A: That'll do us. What's the sofa I'm Rome. We got Jason calling in from Georgia and Aaron from Corona, California. Source from the sofa follows on socials x, Facebook, Instagram. We're out.
