[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:03] Speaker B: What's up everybody? This is sources from the Sofa sports podcast. I am Rome, your host and we have at otherwise, Aaron Tolar. And today is Wednesday, so another edition of college football games of the week. Games to play, games to bet on for week seven.
We're recording Wednesday night.
[00:00:26] Speaker A: A little late.
[00:00:27] Speaker B: We were watching. At least I was. I'm pretty sure Aaron was based on the text message you sent me. But we were watching game three of the NL CS Dodgers at home with Blake Snell.
I sent some people some funny memes, you know, regarding Blake's
[00:00:44] Speaker A: way. Hey, Blake. Snow push well though you can't.
[00:00:48] Speaker B: So we'll, you know, before we get into college, we'll. We'll briefly talk about baseball. Dodgers not a must win. But they had to win. They had a win today. Not a must win. Next time is a must win. But they had a win today. Snell did. I thought pretty admirable. Wasn't a big fan of the home run right off the bat.
That was an omen for the seventh inning. If this was a Shakespeare play, that would be typical William Shakespeare stuff. I think that's called foreshadowing, something like that. It's been a while since I've been in AP English. Give me a break here.
But I thought it was a pretty nice game. Brewers came with some really clutch hitting, big hits. When it came out, I was surprised about that two run homer.
That, that was, that was big time. And, and if you can hit a home run in Dodger Stadium, it is pretty magical. And you could tell the fans kind of caught off guard, a little uneasy. I have a friend actually at the game. I didn't know tickets were going to be so affordable. I would actually went down to SoCal a little early. I'm thinking about it. Maybe, you know, if I can go down there tomorrow, maybe catch the game on Friday with my daughter. You know, might be fun.
[00:01:59] Speaker A: You think there's going to be a game Friday?
[00:02:01] Speaker B: Maybe. Maybe.
I don't know if I want to watch my team lose in Game 5.
[00:02:06] Speaker A: I don't know if you've caught this. You know, I brought a little, you know, props with me. If you look over my shoulder, I got the. I got the broom out, ready to go. Just in case the dogs are here.
[00:02:20] Speaker B: Get out of here. Oh my.
[00:02:23] Speaker A: I mean, you're thinking, what do you
[00:02:24] Speaker B: have that broom there for? You're right, dude. I know you don't broom your house.
[00:02:28] Speaker A: Hey, next stop, possibly Dodger Stadium. They need. It's ready to rock. It's ready to roll. So you think it's going to Friday?
Like the brewers might have something else to say. Who pitches? Turning the sweet favor. Very, very much a possibility.
[00:02:42] Speaker B: Who pitches tomorrow?
[00:02:44] Speaker A: Glass now versus I believe it's a bullpen game for the Brewers. It looks like. Well, it looks like they got Dustin, maybe Dodger. Okay. You know, Carrot Top last time.
[00:02:55] Speaker B: Last time out. And I was with the.
With a decent.
[00:02:58] Speaker A: He did draw five walks last time.
It's. It's. It's an interesting game. Just so you know, those games have been moved up to the time, so.
[00:03:06] Speaker B: They did. Yeah.
[00:03:07] Speaker A: Why is that five o' clock pitch? I think it's four.
Because Tampa versus The Guardians got moved up three hours because they're expecting rain, so they want to.
[00:03:18] Speaker B: Okay, got it.
[00:03:18] Speaker A: Yeah, that's.
[00:03:19] Speaker B: That's wondering.
[00:03:20] Speaker A: I couldn't keep track.
[00:03:21] Speaker B: There's like changes in the WNBA Finals.
[00:03:24] Speaker A: I just looking right now. 10:00am Tomorrow is first pitch raised. Guardians, 10:00am Our time.
[00:03:29] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't like that, dude. That's wild, man. 10:00am dude, this is one of the worst playoffs.
[00:03:38] Speaker A: Yeah, this is.
[00:03:39] Speaker B: This is bad, dude. Like mlb. I don't know what happened, but they've. But they royally this thing up this year. The. The playoff times. Pitch times. It's been really bad. Hopefully they fix that, you know, when they have some time to talk in the off season.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: But yeah, today though, the original first pitch was supposed to be one o' clock our time, but with the rain
[00:03:59] Speaker B: expected, I mean, I guess they don't want to delay it. Yeah, that makes sense, but not really.
These are the conference championships, so, you know, why Rush it pushed out a day. I don't know that. That's my opinion. But Dodgers, not a great game. Not. Not a terrible game either, though. I. I think I was very active on. On X today just because I had some time on my hands, you know, you know, starting some Twitter wars here. And I. You know, a lot of people were criticizing Dave Roberts, and Dave Roberts has not been criticized this much since before the COVID championship win. If you're a Dodger fan, a good thing we didn't have a podcast back then because I think me and you and Aaron, man, we've had a lot of conversations where I was advocating for him to get fired years before that season ever happened. And they kind of started this, you know, nice little five, six year run of. Of dominance.
[00:04:57] Speaker A: How long has Dave Roberts been the manager for the Dodgers now?
[00:04:59] Speaker B: 10 years or so.
[00:05:01] Speaker A: Yeah, I was gonna say 10, 12 years.
[00:05:03] Speaker B: Yeah. I want to say and he's been decent.
[00:05:06] Speaker A: Like last year or two years ago, he signed an eight year extension.
[00:05:09] Speaker B: I don't know if it was that long, but they've had decent managers throughout the years, just. They just couldn't produce in the postseason. Questionable calls, leaving Kershaw in too long, which we're all very, very, you know, familiar about. Today was the same thing I thought Blake Snell, once he hit 86 pitches, I'm like, okay, now it's time to take a look on how these batters are progressing through these pitch counts. And then now we're in the seventh inning. Once that home run is gone, should I take them out?
What they did, they let him stay in. Next pitch, another home run. And it's like at that point it's like, okay, two run home run now a solo home run. Now we're in a pretty big deficit with only a couple more innings to go. And we're. When our bats.
So when we went to this postseason, I said, I'm feeling pretty good because the Dodger bats are heating up at the right time.
But just like this happened two years ago, they were fucking cold. The Dodgers bats got cold in the postseason. Like, I don't know, like, like LA doesn't get chilly in October.
It's hot. I don't know why the Dodger bats get cold in the postseason, but they do. And this is a repeated behavior, a repeated pattern.
And you know, it's baseball right there. There's ups and flows of this thing. I understand that. Really grateful for the championships that we've got recently, because it's been a nice little run. But still though, like, some of these calls are very detrimental, I thought Shohei, okay, they had a great conversation. Take him out. It doesn't matter. He did get two walks today, I think one with a bases load opportunity and they got a big hit to bring in two guys to get the lead. Was that like the third or fourth inning? I can't really remember, but still didn't do much at the plate besides, you know, he was a presence. So, Aaron, you were right. He did play a factor in some aspect, even though he didn't get a hit.
But other than that, though, leaving the pitchers in too long, making some weird substitution plays. Kike Pahes not bringing their rookie, who has been pretty good throughout the post, you know, through, you know, you know, throughout the year, I thought, you know, that eventually led to the downfall because Dodgers are really talented. You have to, you know, it wasn't the tightest game plans. That's All I'm saying, not to discredit the Brewers. Brewers play phenomenal, but wasn't happy about it.
[00:07:32] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, it's a tough defeat if you're the Dodgers. I mean, you're going home.
Back to back World Series champs. First pitch, home run Jackson. Cheerio. Right? I mean, first pitch. I mean, usually when you see stuff like that, it goes south pretty quick. Dodgers don't get on the board again till the six.
Really had a good chance there, right? They had second and third, one out already. Two runs in.
[00:07:53] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:53] Speaker A: Brewers smart move. They take out one of their better relievers in Rebate. Bring in Hall. He comes in, gets a couple strikeouts. They don't even get. They don't even hit the ball in play, right? You don't even get a sack fly to get that third run. I thought John Smoltz mentioned it. Really? Well, look, hey, you get Blake Snell a 2, 3 run lead there. He's a lot more relaxed. He's feeling good now. It's still a run run game. Credit to the brewers, they got the pitch count up, but they kept making them foul off pitches, right? Going deep into account, you started seeing more pitches and the pitcher starts getting fatigued, right? 86, 87. He threw 101 pitches in this game. Typically starters in pitching right now, at least, Dave Roberts, he's pulling these guys at 75, 85 pitches. Blake Snell did not pitch what I think three and a third innings against the Braves in the divisional series. So going up to brewers here and Bowers, look at this. Guy's had some great at bats. We mentioned it on the post game. Yamamoto, he basically ended his night and essentially ended Blake Snell's night. This Dave Robinson is having a pretty good postseason.
[00:08:57] Speaker B: This is really good.
[00:08:58] Speaker A: He's feeling good about himself.
[00:08:59] Speaker B: Brewers are getting a little revenge from last year. They look really nice. They're heating up at the right time and they're not phased. They got nothing to lose. They're going against the big bad Dodgers. And I got, you know, I was not one of those Dodger fans that thought we're just going to win this out thing outright for like a 30 year.
There's some good teams out there before hitting all cylinders. Everyone's healthy. I think that's a different story. But brewers solid team. We talked about the last pod them in the Rays been great all year round and they are showing it right now, like why they have been one of the better teams this year.
And I think there was a stat here with runners in Scoring position.
Dodgers are last in. In the. In the postseason, out of all the teams batting, I think points, 17.
[00:09:44] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know what the new number was, But I think two or three games ago, they were like two for 29.
They're probably two, four, or maybe three.
[00:09:52] Speaker B: A lot of guys in that 38 now, the opportunities were there. They just have not been able to convert. So that's all you can ask for. You can ask for the opportunities. Unfortunately, we were not able to convert. So now the Dodgers are in the O3 hole. And I hope I didn't jinx the team by putting the. The Dodgers are in trouble on the podcast title here, but they're in trouble now.
[00:10:11] Speaker A: Stating the truth, it's just.
[00:10:13] Speaker B: They're in trouble now, so we'll see what happens.
[00:10:15] Speaker A: They've never been down 3. The last time they're down 30 in a series was 1966.
I guess a good thing they got going for him. Only one team in Major league baseball history has ever come back down three zero. The famous, you know, Red Sox.
[00:10:29] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, the team.
Yeah.
[00:10:31] Speaker A: Who Dave Roberts was a part of. So at least he can go in there and be like, guys, look, it can be done. I'm living proof because I was there.
[00:10:39] Speaker B: If there's any team that can do it, it's the Dodgers. They have the talent to do it. We'll see, though. The bats are not on the pitching. Obviously something's off.
And I think Dave Roberts is off his game a little bit. You know, it has been a long run, a three peat, the pressure. I can't even imagine what that feels like.
[00:10:56] Speaker A: I think they just look like a team that's worn out and tired.
[00:10:58] Speaker B: Tired. They look tired.
[00:10:59] Speaker A: I mean, Blake Snail always looks tired. Rome is kind of a running joke, but stone as, dude, you know, I mean, you. That photo of him, like a Lego version, whatever you sent over. Yeah, perfect. Perfect. Blake Snell. I mean, that was spot on.
He's like. He's like a cartoon character. Honestly, he would be a perfect cartoon character next to the whitest guy with
[00:11:21] Speaker B: the most cholo type of accent. Man, he. He belongs in la. So I'm glad he's a Dodger because he's such a.
[00:11:29] Speaker A: He's been everywhere, up and down the coast. Remember, he's from the Padres. From the Padres to the Giants. From the Giants now to the Dodgers.
[00:11:35] Speaker B: If you guys don't LA people, man, like, even sometimes my. My ghetto said, we'll come out every once in a while. I think you've seen An Aaron after I have a few beers.
But, you know, that guy is. Is hilarious. So, you know what? Good outing for Snell. Daughters down three zero. They're in deep. We'll see what happens in game four.
But that'd be interesting.
[00:11:55] Speaker A: All you gotta do is get one. If they get one, they get school ball goes Friday. Rome. What you say you're looking to go to get tickets for?
The price for tickets for game five will go up a lot because it more than likely, presumably, will be the last game at Dodger Stadium. Unless they can come back and win these four games in a row, they
[00:12:12] Speaker B: have to go the World Series. Yeah, that would be the last game. If they don't make it, which that'd be pretty hard to come back.
[00:12:18] Speaker A: And look, if they do come back, all. All kudos to them. It's gonna be a tough, tough ride because Milwaukee, you know, they learn a lot, right? Your team last year, I think they said it best. Bowers when he said, hey, look, we were just kind of happy to be here. We were kind of like the young team going against the champs. You know, we weren't ready.
You know, the brewers kind of seem maybe like we saw. Maybe we'll get to the NBA preview next week, but maybe kind of like the spurs, hey, just happy to beat the champs. Didn't finish the job off of the Knicks young team. You got to learn. Remember, we always talk about teams learning through the postseason. I think the brewers are starting to learn, and they feel pretty confident and look like, to me, like they're ready to finish the Dodgers off, unlike the Red Sox when they came back in 04 Rome. Since we're going back that far.
[00:13:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: I always felt like. I really felt Boston could come back and win, that they were kind of a young team, hungry team.
[00:13:12] Speaker B: Oh, dude, I made money on that. Like, yeah, right.
[00:13:15] Speaker A: That was a rivalry.
[00:13:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:17] Speaker A: Dodgers, brewers isn't really a rivalry, just location. Not even in the same division payroll. There's not the evil Empire versus. So there's a lot going on here. But the brewers, happy for them right now. Let's see if they can finish the job.
[00:13:31] Speaker B: And you know what? Twitter, everyone that's on social. This is not surprising to any Dodgers fan. So, daughters fans, I commend you guys for being honest with yourselves. And, like, we've watched the team all year round. We know what's happening. We know it's talented, but I'm really happy that everyone kind of gets it. You know, we're not like these weird Chicago Bears fans.
[00:13:49] Speaker A: So they're still celebrating the 85 championship, dude, like it's yesterday.
[00:13:54] Speaker B: You know, I like, like with Mike Dicka passing away, I kind of review like, wait, why didn't they win more Super Bowls if they were so and then, and then like they got that Mike Dick a documentary that three play on espn. Like, oh, dude, that's a lot of. There's a lot of drama there.
Iron Mike had a lot of drama around him for a few seasons and made some questionable calls but.
And they ran their quarterback down to the ground. So
[00:14:20] Speaker A: tough loss.
[00:14:21] Speaker B: That's tough today.
[00:14:22] Speaker A: Today's NFL is all about saving your quarterback and using your running back in the back in the day, the quarterback.
But hey, once you're on top of the hill back in the 80s, hey, it's tough. It's tough to knock yourself down, man.
[00:14:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I, I, I channel my inner mic. If you guys have not caught that, you can go catch that last podcast.
[00:14:42] Speaker A: Good two hours.
[00:14:43] Speaker B: It's almost it's a long episode. There's three sections. They're all up on YouTube individually. The full episode as well as well as Spotify, Apple podcasts catch the whole thing. There's actually good stuff through it. It's actually one of our funnier podcasts.
[00:14:57] Speaker A: If you're a guy out there, you don't need to be Netflix and chill, just sources from the sofa and chill, man, that's, I mean, come on, get
[00:15:03] Speaker B: some popcorn, get out some wine, have a few beers with us, you know, rub one out. We don't care. We're not watching. It's all you. It's all you and your living room.
All right.
[00:15:15] Speaker A: But hey, I'll be curious. I'll be curious Rome what Dave Roberts does of this lineup. You mentioned the rookies. I wonder if he's going to go with some young guys, try to get a spark with that lineup. Try to get some guys in there. Because I mean Rojas, you know, he's got back spasms, whatever he's got. Edmund, I mean he got paid because he had two good postseasons, but he was kind of washed up in St. Louis. That's why they got rid of him, right? Otani, we know he's not right.
Bets Freeman all of a sudden have gotten cold.
Tiascor outside of game one and two against Atlanta really hasn't hit paw heads. Can't find, can't find the zone either. Usually the people that Dodgers really struggling, man. I think they got 15 hits in these first three games.
[00:15:53] Speaker B: Yeah, people are not going to get coming through the woodwork they haven't been coming through. And Dave Roberts, you know, I was very critical of him in, in the early part of his tenure here the Dodgers. And he had a, it's a phenomenal stretch hall of Fame career that kind of cemented his legacy as a, as a player, as a manager, especially in Dodgers lore. But a little throwback to the past, the pre pandemic championship. And you know it happens, you know it happens to the best of us. It's not a good series from Dave Roberts.
Time to talk college football games of the week. Aaron's college football games a week. Games to play, games to bet on.
If you caught our previous pod, this guy was promising like a 20, 30 game slate. I was a little nervous, but surprisingly he kept it pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty tight, which I'm really grateful for. So nothing on Friday for the first time all year round, just all Saturday games. Any reason for that?
[00:16:58] Speaker A: Friday games aren't any good. It's basically if they're. Well, you will have the raised guardians on a Friday, maybe the Dodgers in a Game 5, but don't have to worry about college football. That's, you know, you could, you could take the old lady out on a Friday. You don't gotta, you ain't got to shack her up and be like, hey babe, I can't go out and watching football. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I'm giving you a Friday off to go. Take her out, make her happy and get Saturday and Sunday to yourself at home to watch some football.
[00:17:23] Speaker B: Nice little break from the 60 days of football that we have every single year. Hopefully you guys took advantage of the frozen where they call it for hockey. That was a fun day yesterday. Lots of hockey all day long. Also on the socials insta at X Facebook, we got our inaugural first time Aaron's top 15 power rankings for college football. We thought it was time with lots of discernment disagreement, criticism over the AP top 25. We had to release our own power rankings just like we have for the NFL, which I do, which I haven't had any complaints this past year. Only one from Aaron. But that has been pretty positive on the socials. But we hope our power ranks are just true, unbiased. They bring you the real type of clarity into who's actually a good team and who's not. So that is out in the socials, pretty fun stuff.
So be aware of that. We also kind of broke down last week pretty well. We kind of touched on every game and kind of highlighted some, some games this week. So cash out on YouTube and on wherever you listen to your favorite podcast. So all right, week seven errands college football games to watch. First game number four Ohio State three and a half point favorites against number five Indiana 51 over under.
[00:18:48] Speaker A: Yeah we got a big big ten matchup here and a big game for the College football landscape. 9am kickoff Saturday. The 9am window in college football this week is loaded.
Three games at 9am that are loaded so you're gonna have to have multiple TVs multi view going to watch these games. But look Ohio State travels to Indiana. Kurt Signetti we all know finning national champs. They've won 21 straight trying to match a record of 22. I think that was only done by Ohio State Buckeyes a 3 1/2 point favorite here but I'm going with the home team Indiana Rome. I know they didn't look great last week against your boys Nebraska, but I think the running quarterback gave them a lot of issues there. You know Ohio State's quarterback more of a pocket passer obviously. He's got great weapons on the outside, a good running game, offensive line defensively I Ohio State's kind of been up and down. They've shown some signs but you know once you lost I think nine players to graduation of the pros last year on that defense gradually still getting better and learning.
Three and a half. I like it. It's a good number here for Indiana. I I think they keep hanging here. I wouldn't be surprised if they win this game. Look Ryan Day, we saw what happened against Texas. They gave that one away. But unlike you know Sark in Texas where I always worry about the coaching staff, Chris Ignett is the opposite. I'm not worried about this guy. We know he's not afraid to go for it. He gets his team prepared, focused. I think they took last week's scaring. It's Nebraska will build on it. Give me the Indiana three and a half at home.
[00:20:17] Speaker B: Well, I'm really surprised you're actually taking this one. By the way, if Indiana wins this one that will tie them for Ohio State for most wins consecutively since I think Urban Meyer was the coach.
[00:20:27] Speaker A: That's right.
He will be in the house part of the big noon kickoff.
[00:20:32] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm doing it.
[00:20:33] Speaker A: By the way, who's Joe Clack out or does he not give games in which he calls? Is he not ready to pick? I like to fade them. I like to fade Joe Clatt.
[00:20:40] Speaker B: So you know when I the reason why I went with my picks last week too is because he was pretty favorable. Kind of lined up what I was thinking with those games too. And he's been decent. He's about, you know, a couple games 500. It's like our podcast, a lot better than last year. But the, the same games I lost, the same games we lost, other games that he lost. So by the way, we were 8 and 2 last week in Aaron's college football games of the week for his picks, we are 22 and 10 for the last three weeks or something like that.
[00:21:08] Speaker A: 2110 the last three weeks.
[00:21:09] Speaker B: 2110. So pretty solid numbers. Definitely better than most collegeable quote unquote experts out there. So it's time for you guys to check out our pod. All right, next game, number 18, Oklahoma State against number 20, Houston, who is four and a half point favorite, 62 and a half over under.
[00:21:31] Speaker A: Yeah, high total here. Game in Houston, Oklahoma State.
Obviously the first game of the season did not go well. When they lost at Tulsa, everybody was kind of down on them. Then the Oregon Ducks went in there as a three touchdown favor and got smoked up there in still water. I'm going with the road team home here. Oklahoma State getting four and a half. Houston's had a couple rough games, hasn't looked great of late. Oklahoma State got a bye week a couple weeks ago. Came out last week, got a nice win. I'm high on them obviously. I had their quarterback in my Heisman, you know, guys to watch as a sleeper to kind of win that Oklahoma State. I like them here, four and a half believe they can win this game outright. But I'll take the points.
[00:22:10] Speaker B: So ok, State with the four and a half points.
[00:22:13] Speaker A: That is correct.
[00:22:14] Speaker B: That's amazing. I misheard that. All right, Florida against number seven Texas, favored by 11 points, 51 and a
[00:22:23] Speaker A: half over under 11 points is a lot here, Rome. I mean, look, if you would have said two weeks ago that Tech that Florida was going to get 11 points against Texas, everybody would have said you're crazy. But look, Florida, the last two weeks has kind of looked like the Florida of last year.
Not look too good. Let's not forget they still did beat Texas along that way last year. Texas coming off their first loss, I mean they kind of gave that game away. Defensively they seem to be dominating Oklahoma in the second half. They fell apart.
Florida defensively has just been in shambles really all year. They give up a lot of points.
Their secondary is not great. So maybe that's something Arch Manning could take advantage of. But I'm going to go Florida here, plus 11. I think the number's just way too high.
They've been embarrassed two times in a row. And you know, we, we see this in football, college, NFL, when everybody's high on a team, they're betting them, betting them and they lose and then everybody falls off the ship. Hey, they suck. This is the game. Florida comes back, I think pits up a dog fight. I like Texas to win, Florida to cover. So I'm taking the 11 points.
[00:23:25] Speaker B: 11 points is a lot against a team likes a fight. And Texas seems like they like to battle these kind of fights, so I agree with you on that one.
Number two, Notre Dame in their first real game of the season, if you don't count North Carolina.
[00:23:38] Speaker A: Jason's not here. He'll tell you to get the 20. Toughest schedule.
[00:23:42] Speaker B: I was surprised by that stat. I don't fucking believe it. And I didn't have a chance to look it up. Thanks for reminding me though. I will look it up now though, but I just stopped buying it. But they are number one and a few guys that do watch a lot of college football and their pair rankings, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Ten half point favorites against number eight in the country. B Y U.
Yeah, another high spread here.
[00:24:07] Speaker A: Look, Notre Dame's traveling to Provo. BYU's not getting any respect or love maybe because in the big games last year against Texas Tech, they just got manhandled. Notre Dame's probably better than those Texas Tech teams from last year. Obviously. C.J. carr is one of the front runners for the Heisman. Notre Dame's got a really, really good defense.
You know, our guy Jason talking about how they played a top 20 schedule already because Wisconsin's a little bit better than they were expected to be. Bill Belichick pulled a win out of his ass against Pittsburgh last week even though he threw that game away against Clemson. Thanks, Bill, but I'm going BYU plus 10 and a half.
I'm telling people right now. We saw a 10 and a half, 11 point dog UCLA win last week. I like, I like a little money on BYU moneyline too, you know.
[00:24:55] Speaker B: Really.
[00:24:55] Speaker A: So I, I do, I think BYU is better than people think. Defensively. They can play well. They're at home. Everyone's going to be crazy going wild at the game.
BYU's more athletic than people want to give credit to. They improve their team speed overall. This will be a tough game for Notre dame. I love BYU getting 10 and a half. Would not be surprised if they win this game outright.
[00:25:19] Speaker B: Wow. I Actually think this BYU team is actually pretty really good. They got some adversary already early in the season, more so than Notre Dame. I think they're going to bring it. So we'll see what happens. Wisconsin against my number 12, UCLA, two and a half point favorites in the Rose Bowl. 43 and a half over, under two
[00:25:42] Speaker A: and a half point favorites.
You know, you asked me last week, Rome, hey, there's no money line picks. Well, this week there is. I'm going to UCLA moneyline minus 140 here.
Wisconsin's getting a lot of love, a lot of love. They've, they've been, they're a lot better, improved. Luke Vickels got these guys playing good football. Outside of that opening loss against Notre Dame, they played well. But let's not forget this team was down 170 at Penn State. Penn State's not very good. We've seen that. Northwestern smoked them. USC beating them at Penn State. UCLA's got big cajones. I, I don't know why they're even a two and a half. To me, this should probably be five and a half six. I know the quarterback's out. I'm not worried about it. Yeah, the defense will step up, the running game will step up. This quarterback throws a better ball. Chestney and UCLA continue to win. I like the Bruins on the money line here. Give me UCLA to get a big, big home win at the Rose Bowl.
[00:26:36] Speaker B: I heard Cloud on another podcast show and he was kind of leaning on a potential upset here with Wisconsin. Wouldn't be surprised if they went out, right? So, yeah, people already on Wisconsin. We'll see what happens. I know, Aaron, you were not with them a few weeks ago. I said, hey, don't count them out yet.
My favorite bar in the city in San Francisco, Aces Bar, we talked about in the, in the pod in the past. That is Wisconsin bar. So maybe that might be a fun bar to visit. I don't know if I can take a lot of.
[00:27:02] Speaker A: There's a lot of Wisconsin people out here. You know, I, I think they migrated out here when Ron Dane and Wisconsin was winning Rose bowl back to back years in the late 90s, 2000s. Guess what, guess what. They're gonna get an ass whipping at the Rose bowl this weekend. The Bruins, baby. Pit it down on paper. Pit is a lock too. Rome pit it as a lock now I'm not even waiting.
[00:27:25] Speaker B: I don't think we have any other team with more locks than UCLA so far. And Aaron's locks the year they ain't let me down.
[00:27:32] Speaker A: They have not let me down.
They've either beaten me or not. So I like exactly.
[00:27:37] Speaker B: All right. A team that I think should be ranked is Nebraska plus seven and a half against Oregon. So Oregon gets a back to back home games, 52 and a half over under
[00:27:50] Speaker A: two teams that are probably really disappointed. Right. Nebraska had the game against the Indiana.
[00:27:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:57] Speaker A: Now they've lost 30. What, 30 straight. 31 straight against ranked opponents.
Oregon not their best showing. I mean now the meme is coming out that their players are punching quarterbacks that are out for the season in the head. That's the meme coming out of Oregon. Look, here's two things I know. A Nebraska can't beat a ranked opponent. That shows. And Oregon and Dan Lanning, when they get their ass beat the next week, they come out and kick some ass. Oregon's gonna kick Nebraska's ass. Rayola will start at quarterback if more cannot go. I like Oregon and I like them big here. I think Nebraska is in for an ass whipping. Give me the Ducks. Minus seven and a half.
[00:28:34] Speaker B: Wow. Okay.
Number six, Alabama.
I think probably the best team in the country this year. Minus eight and a half against number 14, Tennessee.
51 and a half over under.
[00:28:47] Speaker A: Look, Tennessee is going to be a popular play here. We saw they, you know, backdoor covered against Texas.
You know, quarterback situation right now for Tennessee's a mass Alabama. This is that famous. The big cigar game. Right. Where the team wins. They light up the cigar. It's, you know, whatever. The cigar bowl. I don't know what they call it down there, but I like it. I like Alabama here. They got a better quarterback. They're going to be mad killing DeBoer. It's going to be. He saw him on the sidelines at the end of Georgia's game. The guy was losing his ass. I mean he was. He was pissed. He'll have these guys redialed and focused in. Tennessee just doesn't have the offense to keep pace and move the ball against Bama. I'm going Alabama here minus eight and a half to get a win in Knoxville.
[00:29:29] Speaker B: DeBoer knew that they should have won that game. A lot of critics thought Alabama should have won that game. They kind of dominated many.
[00:29:36] Speaker A: I believe, I believe the sec.
Well, I, I saw Georgia's safety who made that illegal hit, came out and said, yeah, it was pass interference on me. But hey, he didn't call it, so what do I do?
[00:29:46] Speaker B: It was pretty bad and it would have been called in any of the game, but there might have been like Some Georgia love from the referees in that one. That's what it looked like.
[00:29:54] Speaker A: A lot of. A lot of Georgia love, man.
[00:29:57] Speaker B: I think Alabama's great. It's taken Kelly to bore a few years, but as expected. But I think Alabama's back. We'll see what happens.
Number 15, Kentucky versus Oklahoma. Oklahoma is favored by seven against the rating team after upsetting the number one team in the country last week.
[00:30:14] Speaker A: I've gone back and forth on this game, Rome. I mean, look, Kentucky getting seven points. They're playing pretty well. Oklahoma, you just don't know what you're gonna get from them quarter to quarter, week to week.
You know, they've lost at Michigan, which doesn't look like a good loss.
They. They got beat at Georgia. Georgia beat him really, really bad. But George is a good team and Texas had him on the ropes. But, you know, Oklahoma played a little rope, a dope, got back in there and got the victory. Look, Kentucky back to back. We talked about it. Two point conversions in overtime. Will Stein, the biggest cajones right now in the SEC in college football going into Norman, Oklahoma, look these guys, they're living on the edge. They were down 17 the week before, beat South Carolina, came back down against lsu, beat them. They're gonna be the popular pick here. That's why I'm going the opposite. I'm going Oklahoma. I think that defense stifles them, causes turnovers. Give me the Sooners at home minus seven here.
[00:31:11] Speaker B: I'm at the fade. That one. I don't know. I kind of like Kentucky with the seven points. I think we'll see.
[00:31:15] Speaker A: If Kentucky were to cover and win, I. I'm on board as they're being for legit real. They play off possibility.
[00:31:21] Speaker B: It's like this weird Ben Johnson thing. Oregon's a mess without their two coordinators bouncing out.
You know, they're. They're trying to.
[00:31:29] Speaker A: This would be huge. This would be huge for Kentucky if they can keep this close and win in Oklahoma. Huge.
[00:31:34] Speaker B: If they can do it even close. Be great. It's. Kentucky's having a really good year this year. All right, number 13, Missouri versus number nine, Ole Miss. Favored by six points, 59 over, under.
[00:31:47] Speaker A: Yeah, high total here, Rome. Real high total. Look, Missouri's been playing really good football. This kind of reminds me of what Florida was doing. Get some nice home wins, you go on the road. Guess what? That's their losing streak. Started with Missouri when Missouri put an ass whooping on. Look at. This is Ole Miss's first home game in a month. They ain't played a home game since they beat lsu, if you can. Oh, wow. They went. They went after that game. They went to Florida, lost, got a bye week. Went to Vanderbilt last week, got a big win. First home game in a month. So you know that place is going to be rocking and going crazy. You get one of the best quarterbacks in Missouri coming into town. Guess where he was part of the last two, three years. Ole Miss. He's no longer there. He's now the quarterback at Missouri. Obviously, big game. Trinidad Chambliss took his job. He's the better quarterback here.
Miss minus six. I think the defense can make enough plays in Missouri. The quarterback who's been great, tries a little too much, does a little too hard work. Two turnovers at least minimum by him in this game. Give me Ole Miss -6 here to get a big win in the SEC.
[00:32:51] Speaker B: You know, I know a lot of love has been on Trinity, Chambliss and beginning of the year. I haven't heard so much in the past few weeks. But one thing's a big difference maker for them is their running back. He's back, had a big game and I don't think Vanderbilt's that good this year. But I don't him though the running back, that kind of changes everything. They look really legitimate next game. Is this the last game? It is.
[00:33:15] Speaker A: Game room.
[00:33:16] Speaker B: All right, number 16, Mississippi State versus number 22, LSU. LSU favored by 14 and a half, 57 over under.
[00:33:28] Speaker A: Yeah, Rome. I mean, you touched on it. You sent a texture there, said you were liking Mississippi State. I said, hey, hold on, brother. The quarterback questionable may not play. That's why we got an inflated line here. This line, I believe Sunday was at 9, 10. It's up to 14 and a half. So I think obviously the odds makers believe he's not.
[00:33:44] Speaker B: What's wrong with the qb?
[00:33:45] Speaker A: Got a. Got a foot injury.
Must be serious because they're coming off a bye week and if he's not really ready to play this one, you got to be mobile because look, LSU defensively, when they get embarrassed, they dial up the blitz. They just bring the backers, the DBs. They're going to bring everybody. And that's how you got to play Mississippi State. You got to bring pressure. You got to force them to get rid of the ball quick, similar to what Alabama do. Take away the short underneath pass, play coverage and blitz the quarterback. And look, if you're playing on one foot going into Death Valley, it's not a good recipe.
I like LSU here minus 14 and a half. It's a big number. It's a number I typically wouldn't take, but I don't know who Mississippi State's backup quarterback is. Heck, they may not even know.
Even if this guy does play, I think Lane Kiffin. Look, I called about. On the show, we talk about Will Stein with the biggest cojones. The smallest cojones right now is Lane Kiff. And he's got to grow him back again. He's got a chance here. I like LSU -14 and a half.
[00:34:41] Speaker B: I, I was trying to get a clip out about that. I thought it was a pretty good clip, but yeah, Lane Kiffin, man, doesn't look like the Lane Kiffin of old.
Jason was pretty critical that pressure from LSU just getting to it now.
[00:34:54] Speaker A: It's real, man.
[00:34:55] Speaker B: Just in year one.
[00:34:56] Speaker A: Look it, look, it changed Brian Kelly's accent in one day.
Pressure's real, bro.
[00:35:00] Speaker B: Lane Kiffin, you were so happy at Ole Miss, you know, sometimes the grass isn't greener. You just gotta. He looked happy, looked peaceful. Got back with his wife.
Everything was lining up cool with his kids. And now he's with lsu and it's been drama since then. So.
[00:35:15] Speaker A: Hey, man, Bourbon Street's a real, It's a real problem.
[00:35:17] Speaker B: Bourbon Street's a real problem.
[00:35:19] Speaker A: Especially when you lose, man.
[00:35:22] Speaker B: All right, locks of the week. You already mentioned UCLA moneyline minus 1:40. Do you want to issue out two more locks? And how do we do it?
[00:35:33] Speaker A: What were the locks roam last week? Do you know? Did you star them?
[00:35:36] Speaker B: I got it right here. Okay, we have Missouri minus three and a half.
[00:35:40] Speaker A: We got that. That was a win.
[00:35:42] Speaker B: Okay, UCLA plus 11 and a half. Come on, Alabama.
[00:35:50] Speaker A: We got screwed on the three now,
[00:35:52] Speaker B: but that's pretty good though.
[00:35:54] Speaker A: Wow. You know what, Rome? I'm going UCLA again. I think you already gave that out, you know. Okay, that was a gimme.
I'm gonna go another initial team. BYU. Why not BYU plus 10 and a half.
And for the third game, you know, Missouri won for us last week. Let's fade them this week. Give me Ole Miss minus six.
[00:36:19] Speaker B: I hope you're right. You know, six is not that bad. Dude, they're gonna win by a touchdown. They have to. It's gonna be a good game. I, I, I, I, I do like the over on that one though. 59.
[00:36:30] Speaker A: I think that's gonna. Ole Miss can score some points. Missouri's got a good defense. Yeah, but I, I think Ole Miss, like I said, you mentioned the running back being back. That's huge. I said first game in a month at home place is going to be rocking.
I like me some Ole Miss in this one, man.
[00:36:47] Speaker B: All right, so we got locks of the week. BYU plus ten and a half against Jason's number two team, Notre Dame.
[00:36:56] Speaker A: I'll be curious if Jason gives us Notre Dame as a pick in the Westgate.
[00:37:01] Speaker B: Very, very curious. Yeah, I don't think so. I know he liked him. He said he likes you for us at Westgate, that's for sure.
[00:37:10] Speaker A: No, it's not been but hey, we still got eight weeks if you include this one so this there's time to turn it around.
[00:37:18] Speaker B: It's time. It's time and I I have a feeling third lock of the week from AT is Ole Miss minus six against Missouri.
I'm excited. Check out our recap from college football source from the sofa. It's out on YouTube wherever you listen to your podcast tomorrow by the time this pods up, we're going to be recording with the sofa wise guys covering the NFL especially lines of the guys for week six.
So cash that as that should be out Thursday night, early Friday morning. And check out Aaron's latest newest first time revealed college football power rankings out now which we can review really quickly.
For those that do not know.
Should I go from top to bottom?
[00:38:08] Speaker A: Yeah, let's do it Rome.
[00:38:10] Speaker B: All right, so at number one Aaron has Georgia, number two Miami, number three Notre Dame, number four Ohio State.
Five is Indiana.
Still not getting a lot of love as the defending national champs number six Alabama.
7 Texas 8 Ole Miss 9 UCLA 10 BYU 11 Missouri 12 Kentucky 13 LSU 14 Texas Tech. And to round out the top 15 is USC. Aaron's first power rankings for college football debuting at week six here in 2026.
[00:39:07] Speaker A: Yeah and I, I got a feeling it's gonna be there's gonna be some shake up after these games. This week We've got number three Notre Dame, 10 BYU, Kentucky as a road dog at Oklahoma.
So yeah, we'll see what happens. I mean a lot of people, Wisconsin's a very, very popular pick to go to the Rose bowl and beat ucla. Yeah, I think you ucla you sent that clip with Chesney saying hey look, we don't go backwards. We take the war, we take the battle to them. Bring it on Badgers. Bring it on because we are ready down here. Yeah, I'm already fired up, man. I'm already fired up and walking out
[00:39:44] Speaker B: of the tunnel, putting his sunglasses, checking the time like a boss. Dude. I am so excited.
[00:39:50] Speaker A: Ah. I mean like I'M excited. What you feel like can do.
I'm gonna be real curious if they're gonna be able to keep the guy going forward. We'll see. We will see.
[00:40:00] Speaker B: He's not the kind of guy to leave, man. If it was Lane Kiffin, he'd be out.
[00:40:06] Speaker A: Link Kiffin's already got one foot out the door at lsu. He just don't want to mention it yet.
[00:40:11] Speaker B: I think he does, actually. I, I think it's a little bit of regret there. We, we kind of have like an LSU theme color this year. I realized a lot of our graphics and background ucla.
[00:40:21] Speaker A: Yeah, it's a little bit both, a
[00:40:24] Speaker B: little gold, little purple. It's good color matching scheme. All right, so any final comments?
[00:40:31] Speaker A: Great weekend of college football Rome. You asked for 10 games, I gave you 10. I could have probably added a couple other handful of games on there.
You know, I can kind of just round about talk about them real quick. You know, you got Arizona State, Texas Techs, a big game in the Big 12 matchup. Duke, North Carolina, ACC. I'm not talking college hoops, we're talking college football. Big matchup game there.
So there is some interesting clashes of other games on the marquee this week and I'm sure when we do Sofa Wise guys, you know, we'll see Hawaii's in action again this week. We'll see if Sniper goes a 3 Pete and has some action on their game as they've got a interesting contest set up.
[00:41:19] Speaker B: Yeah. And if you want to release any bonus picks, happy to put that on the X profile as well. You can catch Aaron's premium picks on plug that in real quick.
[00:41:29] Speaker A: Yeah, go to Cappers Tech. That's C-A P P E R-T-E-K.com and type in at sources FT sofa pod. My name will pop up five bucks, get you all the package games for that day. Premium plays along with some of the plays on these games, which are some premium plays. NFL college football will be on there.
[00:41:53] Speaker B: Nice. All right, looking forward to previewing NFL college football. Fun weekend ahead. I'm gonna have to do some pumpkin patch stuff with my daughter.
It's, it's a season so it'll be fun balancing the two. We'll see how it goes. Probably have a pumpkin beer, pumpkin IPA somewhere.
[00:42:10] Speaker A: Yeah. Ucla. UCLA kickoff.
What time is the UCLA kickoff game at?
[00:42:15] Speaker B: Oh no, actually 4pm yeah, pumpkin patches are over about at that time.
It'll be nice.
[00:42:22] Speaker A: Yeah, four, four 30PMs that game, that kickoff. So like I said, the Night. It's actually probably pretty good. The 9am window you're going to want to watch. Then you can sneak off to the pumpkin patch and then come back for the nightcap games there. Rome a lot of good games kicking off at 9am so that that window of games is going to be really, really good.
[00:42:43] Speaker B: Saturday's packed for me because I'm have to also try to get my daughter to watch some WNBA finals action. Since Golden Estates in the finals. I think that's.
[00:42:53] Speaker A: I'm surprised you're not even going to a game room.
What are the tickets?
[00:42:57] Speaker B: It'd be cheaper for me to go down to LA and go to a dodge game right now. It's maybe they're never cheap.
[00:43:02] Speaker A: Maybe go to the Dream. I. I mean go fly to Atlanta.
[00:43:06] Speaker B: Yeah, it probably would be cheaper to get a ticket and go. I actually ran to some people that couldn't get tickets to go to the Valkyries game against the Aces. So they went to Vegas and got tickets over there. So they got to see the closeout game, the sweep for them to clinch the their ticket to the finals. So pretty crazy.
[00:43:27] Speaker A: Yeah. Interesting. Yeah.
It's funny. It's funny. Roman, you mentioned sweep. You know a champion ace is swept and the brooms right here, bro. I was ready to go for another champ. About to get.
[00:43:38] Speaker B: Dude, all the champions are getting swept right now.
[00:43:43] Speaker A: You set that one up right there. Perfect for me.
[00:43:46] Speaker B: I'm surprised. Yeah. The two best. Well, at least the two prestigious teams in the. In the WNBA got cleaned out pretty quickly.
[00:43:53] Speaker A: Both multiple champions over the years too.
[00:43:57] Speaker B: Baseball too. Yankees got cleaned up.
Dodgers.
It is what it is. It's okay.
[00:44:05] Speaker A: The Florida Panthers didn't even make the playoffs for a three peat chance man. It's tough.
[00:44:10] Speaker B: That'll do it. Source from the sofa. Catch us on X Facebook, Instagram, Tick Tock. Give us a like Follow subscribe on YouTube as well. We have clips. We have full episodes. Aaron, our college football guru. New power rankings out. I'm Rome. Catch us next time we're out.
