Episode Transcript
[00:00:03] Speaker A: What's up, everybody? This is Rome.
Aaron is also here. And this is sources from the sofa lines with the guys. Week two and this week's gonna be interesting because Jason's out of town for some work stuff. So we're gonna be reading his place.
[00:00:21] Speaker B: Sleeping with the Enemy there in Minnesota.
[00:00:23] Speaker A: Rome Sleeping with the Enemy in Minnesota. I like that.
He did email us. We're just gonna. We don't know what he's picked yet, but we're just gonna read him off after both of us give our picks and then we're gonna move on to every game for a little recap of what happened in week one. I do have it on the official listings here. Jason came out on fire. 11 and three record.
So he takes the lead for first place. Leading off. I was nine and five and Aaron was seven and seven.
[00:00:56] Speaker B: So
[00:00:58] Speaker A: pretty interesting stuff. There were a few games I would take back especially I think like I was kind of a little more up on.
I can't remember anymore. But there was a few I wish I could have back. Kind of overthought. It always is. You know, I did talk about how the jets might come out and they did come out. That was when I remember.
[00:01:22] Speaker B: We'll see how bullish you are on the jets here in this first pick coming up, bro.
[00:01:25] Speaker A: One thing I did not like those. I didn't know was 911 on Sunday. If I would have known that, I would have went with the Giants for that pick instead of going with the Cowboys.
That's. That's a big.
[00:01:36] Speaker B: That was a big. Not so much 911 that. But the 25th anniversary was a big build up for that.
[00:01:41] Speaker A: So yeah, New York, you know, into
[00:01:43] Speaker B: my pig for the Giants as well.
[00:01:44] Speaker A: Big holiday. Although I still think it's the inside job. But that's for another pod.
That's for another pod. All right, so lines of the guys, at least we're all at 500 or above. So I don't remember what it was last year. I have the rankings somewhere, but I think that's pretty positive to kick up, kick off the year. A lot of overs as well.
[00:02:06] Speaker B: And then over tonight here on Thursday night. So the offense continues to score a lot of points in these games. Rome.
[00:02:12] Speaker A: Yeah, we're recording Thursday night as the Lions take on the Bills. Bills looked on fire in the first half. I think Josh Allen has five total touchdowns. Unfortunately. I'm also playing DJ more my fantasy league. So I'm negative points. I'm negative four, I think it is. So I'm not happy Already this is why I didn't play fantasy football for 10 years and I'm already juiced up on top of that baby mama's blocking my calls. My daughter, so I'm even more juiced up. All right, any family attorneys out there? I need help. All right. I'm going to be angry all season long if I don't get a chance to talk to my daughter and I'm not my fans team is not winning. I'm going to be so pissed.
Ready to throw nuclear bombs.
That's my little two cents. All right, lines with the guys. Any, any notifications or news updates? Aaron?
[00:03:05] Speaker B: Nothing. Nothing that I've seen out of the ordinary. Rome.
[00:03:08] Speaker A: So.
[00:03:08] Speaker B: So I mean it's interesting that you talk, you know, lines of the guys. I wonder if our, our boy Steve Belichick got an invite to this because apparently he likes to do some lines for the guys himself down there in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
[00:03:22] Speaker A: I mean I'm not really surprised about that, but I'm glad he got the walkway scot free, you know And Bill
[00:03:28] Speaker B: Belichick, he worked something behind the behind. I think he's okay.
[00:03:32] Speaker A: Yeah, well, you know they got a couple wins so I think they're okay for now.
I've been editing and doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes so I haven't had a chance to take a look at too many of these lines. So I'm going to be blind picking right here from the holster.
We'll see how it goes. Game one, see if you're shooting blanks.
[00:03:50] Speaker B: We'll see. We're shooting blanks.
We're gonna find out.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: All right, new page on the yellow notepad.
Packers, Jets Sunday morning to kick things off.
Packers favored by three and a half over under 44 and the half at. What do you got?
[00:04:11] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean Interesting Week 1 Jets with a nice win against the Titans. I look at, I honestly I did not watch any of that game. Between that and the Browns Jaguars, those are the two games I did not watch on Sunday on the NFL multi view Sunday ticket package that was available.
But maybe should have. Maybe. But look the packers, we all saw the collapse there against the Vikings. But look I, I said it on the last pod. This is probably the best NFL team for three quarters. Unfortunately they can't finish games in the fourth.
But this is a must win for the Packers Week two, right? I mean they get a Jets team. I don't know how good the jets are going to be. Obviously they are going to be better than last year but Matt Lafleur and those guys, he knows how to coach. He knows how to execute in the first half. I think they got too many weapons for the Jets.
I'm going the packers on the road to get the first win and cover. Give me the packers minus three and a half.
[00:05:05] Speaker A: Yeah, I am definitely with you on that. This is a must win. That was an ugly, disappointing loss that can have a big time hangover. You know, on. On an organization. They've had quite a few of these if you remember. This is kind of like what did Harbaugh in at the end of the.
At the end of his tenure with Baltimore. They've had so many leads. They went for it on fourth down so many times when they could have got the points. They could have won more games, could have better positioning for playoffs. Packers are kind of dealing with something similar except they have a soft label with them now that's been kind of jettering in the offseason. This is definitely a must win. I expect love and company to come out. Watson golden.
Their tight ends, everybody in full force and we will see what happens.
Packers as well.
[00:05:52] Speaker B: Let's see what Short week. Short week for the packers too. They play Thursday night against the Falcons. So if they can get this win, you're probably looking at two and one going to going into that extended buy. So big game for Green Bay.
[00:06:02] Speaker A: That'd be really big. That'd be really huge. All right. Jason has packers as well.
[00:06:08] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:06:09] Speaker A: So that's Jason's first pick. Absentee ballot submitted all right, next game.
Vikings.
[00:06:16] Speaker B: I thought those weren't allowed anymore.
[00:06:20] Speaker A: We need to check your ID first. Vikings.
Bears over under 48.
Bears favored by four and a half at home.
Aaron?
[00:06:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean if you're listening to the sofa wise guys, I released that pick yesterday. I'm going to the Bears here at home. Look, Minnesota was fortunate that their defense stepped up big time in the fourth quarter. Kyler Murray, I doubt is going to play this game. Carson Wentz is a serviceable backup. But the reval Jordan Mason, their main running back as he's out with a thumb injury.
[00:06:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:06:54] Speaker B: So look and I believe in Ben Johnson. I believe the Chicago Bears team, they're probably undervalued right now this first month before the linemakers start realizing how good these guys are going to be offensively. I am concerned about the Bears defense, but Carson Wentz, it doesn't concern me here on the road. Chicago, I like them to cover by at least seven or more. So give me the Bears minus four and a half.
[00:07:17] Speaker A: Yeah, it feels a Shootout.
It's still advantage Bears, but Bears going to be home.
They did win big but there's like a lot of question marks on offense and defense. I know it looks really pretty and everyone's enamored with the Bears. I'll criticize them later on. By the way, I did release my newest power rankings. We will review that maybe halfway in the show here in between the morning games and afternoon games so we can take a look at that. But I got the Bears as well. I don't need to even look, I don't need to look at Jason's list to know that he's taking the Bears for now. I think he's gonna take the Bears no matter what every game this year.
[00:07:54] Speaker B: So I, I think it's a good opportunity to catch up on him. Yeah, if you fall behind in the standings, just start fading against the Bears. Exactly. I think he the love affair for Chicago is pretty big.
[00:08:07] Speaker A: It is deep, dude. And I and I know it's deep everywhere because it's been on my Twitter feed, on Facebook, people I didn't even know who are Bears fans. Bears fans now. So Steelers, my Steelers against the Patriots in New England. Pat's favored by five and a half over under 41 and a half. Aaron.
[00:08:28] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean I do believe you got Drake May on your fantasy football team. Rome if I'm not mistaken. So he's going up against your Pittsburgh Steelers defense. Look, we watched the Steelers last week. I mean if there's any other quarterback other than Cooper Rush playing, they may not even win that game. TJ Wild with a huge pick six. The offense looked, you know, terrible. Rogers, that group looked old.
[00:08:50] Speaker A: I would say terrible.
[00:08:51] Speaker B: I think Pittman is out. I'm hearing he's probably not going to play with a foot injury.
Patriots coming off a disappointing Drake. Maybe one of his worst games in the NFL as a pro. I like the Patriots here even though AJ Brown is not going to play 10 days of rest to prepare for this team. Pittsburgh beat them last year in a game where in which the Patriots turn the ball over five times and two of those turnovers happened in the end zone. Patriots get a big bounce back win here. Give me the Patriots at home lane five and a half.
[00:09:19] Speaker A: I'm going to go opposite. I actually think despite getting the win, this is a bounce back must win for the Steelers.
Patriots not as much. Their schedule is actually pretty favorable. Just not as favorable as last year but on the easier end compared to everyone else who is contending or made it really deep in the playoffs. Last year. I think it's going to be possibly high scoring, high scoring for these two teams. I think Patriots might still win 27, 22 Steelers cover barely. But I am brooding for the Steelers and for Metcalf to have a big game and I can't remember they, they do have a running back.
He's pretty awesome. I think he's going to do really well as well so to kind of take place of him and so I, I do like what they got going on the defense. It was okay. It was okay. A lot of big stars but they do give up a lot of chunk of points and yardage more so than years past.
But every defense was doing that last week. So let's see what happens when the big lights turn on. All right, Jason, Steelers plus five and a half as well.
[00:10:34] Speaker B: Ooh, I like it even more, man. Patriots might be my top play on the board this
[00:10:41] Speaker A: next game. Panthers, Falcons Panther Saver 2 1/2 on the road in the ATL44 over under Aaron.
[00:10:51] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean I still don't even know who's going to play quarterback week to week for the Falcons and that may not be announced till Friday.
Tough game to really handicap. I mean Carolina defensively like this is a group that's a lot better than what they did last week, right? I mean they were a top 1215 unit, even maybe top 10 unit last year in the National Football League. That's why they got into the playoffs. They carried that offense before Bryce Young and those guys got hot the last month of the year. Looks like Bryce Young and that offense is still cooking for me. Atlanta even if they do start pinx which is a strong possibility. Look, the guy has not had any in game reps against live competition. He's going to be rusty. I'm going with the road team Carolina to bounce back and get a win. I'll lay the two and a half and take the Panthers. Look, the Falcons have tons of playmakers on the outside, which worries me. Bijan, Drake, London, Kyle Pitts, all these names but who's playing quarterback? I think Bryce Young is ascended to another level and I like the Panthers here to win on the road and cover.
[00:11:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I know the Panthers lost last week, but that team looks really, really nice. I just think the Bears were just clicking on all cylinders for some of those big plays. And you know, Caleb breaking off a few runs.
I'm gonna go with the Panthers as well. I just like them and the Falcons, I know they got some players that they got Bijan, I'm just Not sold. And I don't think I'm going to be sold. I was never a Stefanski guy anyways. So. Panthers minus two and a half. I think they went by a field goal anyways. At the very least, if you guys do not remember, even if they're down at the end of the game, Young had the most come up, come from behind victories in the NFL over the last two seasons.
I think Caleb is the other one. So something to note.
Jason has the Panthers as well.
[00:12:45] Speaker B: Oh, he can't. He can't fade his number two team. Come on, now.
So.
[00:12:52] Speaker A: All right, next game it is Browns, Bucks. Bucks favored by eight and a half at home.
41 and a half over under Aaron.
[00:13:05] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, eight and a half's a lot of points here. I mean, look, the Browns look terrible against the Jags. No doubt about it. Deshaun Watson, not a good game. Defensively, they didn't show up. I believe they were down 240 in the first half in that game.
Baker, rough start to the season. What, three turnovers for himself, four for the team.
Tough to take Cleveland here. I mean, eight and a half points is a lot, but I. I'm not. I'm not touching them right now. They haven't shown me anything. Maybe week three, when they get back home, they can do what they did to the packers and score like 12 points in three minutes and win a game out of nowhere.
But I'm gonna go with the box here. Eight and a half. Don't like it. Don't love it. Wouldn't it be one of my bets on the board? But if I gotta take a side, give me Baker and the Bucks to bounce back and DeSean Watson and the Browns to continue to be. The Browns are the Browns.
[00:13:51] Speaker A: As Mike Tomlin said, yeah, I'm unfortunately with you, it is a lot of points. But the offense looks even worse with Watson under center. I think if Shador was under center, it'd be a little bit different. Give him. Give him a little bit of playmaking abilities at the end of the game.
Bucks, they got some guys healthy now from last year. They looked a little out of sync last week. It is week one.
I'm pretty sure Mayfield just getting paid A pretty big bag, 55mil a year, is going to want to come out and show his team and his fans that he deserves that contract.
And being in one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL, not digging it. I'm just. I. I just don't trust the Browns more than I don't trust The Bucks. So I'll go with you. Bucks.
[00:14:40] Speaker B: Yeah, I would agree with you there. I mean Shador, they got two home games coming up. I think he could make his debut against either Carolina or Pittsburgh as a starting quarterb. That's what it looks like it's setting up.
[00:14:49] Speaker A: Maybe. Maybe Jason has bucks as well.
Okay, next game.
Bengals.
Oh yeah.
[00:15:03] Speaker B: Bengals, Texans. You're right.
[00:15:06] Speaker A: Bengals, Texans minus two and a half for the Texans over under 46.
[00:15:15] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean we were talking.
I saw yesterday late Nico Collins pop up with a hamstring issue. So he, he may be in doubt for that game which would be a big loss for the Texans. We talked about Joe Burrow having back tightness, but I do know he returned to practice today. So he said he will play. I believe Joe will go. This was a game line that was at three. It's down to two and a half. Kind of weird, you know there it seems like they're trapping you to play one side or the other. Right. Texans should be a three point favorite at home. It's down to two and a half. But like we talked about on the sofa, wise guys, I'm going with the Bengals.
You know, sniper put out a pretty good stat. Joe Burrow as an Underdog has won 13 his last 14 games on the road as a quarterback. The Texas defensively struggled in game one against Josh Allen. Look, Buffalo's offenses for real. Look at they just dropping I think 41 points here against the Lions.
But yeah, look, Jamar Chase, not a big game in the first game. Chase Brown, an underrated running back. I think the defense for the Bengals has stepped up a lot. They're going to be getting forcing turnovers here. CJ Stroud had a nice bounce back in game one, but after what we saw in the playoffs. But he still turned the ball over two times. If there's no Nico Collins, I even like the Bengals more. But I think it's a close game and I'll take the two and a half. I think whoever wins this game could win it by two or less.
[00:16:35] Speaker A: Is Nico out or not?
[00:16:38] Speaker B: I don't think we're going to find out till tomorrow or Saturday. But I know hamstrings are tricky. Usually guys, we're supposed to get imaging done today. I don't know what the results were on that.
[00:16:50] Speaker A: Wow.
I expect the Texans defense had a little bit of a rebound week this week. I know the Bengals.
I got them going pretty deep this year. Same thing with the Texans.
I just want to see more out of the Bengals first. I Think this just me like the first little hiccup early in the season. I'm going to take the Texans winning it on the. Winning it at home by a field goal.
They got one of the better kickers in the league. So Texans with the covering.
Jason has the Texans as well.
Minus two and a half. All right, next game. Saints, Ravens, eight and a half. Ravens are favored at home.
46 and a half over, under.
[00:17:45] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean if there was any doubt we had about Lamar Jackson and where he's at, I think he answered a lot of questions in week one. Looked at the. The Ravens look great in week one. They ran all over the Colts. That offense was pretty spectacular. Defense looked a lot better under Jesse Mentor.
New Orleans, I mean, look, they started off the gate slope but got it ramped up there in the second half. Had a chance to beat the Lions in overtime. It took a two point conversion stop by that defense of Detroit to hold on and get the victory. But Tyler Shock, I believe in him. I think this guy is a the real deal. What is he, 27, 28 years old. He came on last year, kind of struggled early, but that final month of the season he played well. The Saints knocked off some teams. I think eight and a half's a lot of points here. Zay Flowers likely out. Jacoby Lane, he's already out as well with the wrist surgery, so he's going to miss this game. And the Ravens defensively good, but I don't think they're good enough to cover more than a touchdown against the Saints. I'll take the Saints and killing Moore's team to keep it close. They could fight with anybody. Give me the eight and a half of the Saints.
[00:18:50] Speaker A: Nice.
Eight and a half's a lot.
I'm not really digging these big spreads here, but they did look pretty potent. I thought they probably should have won against Detroit. They had that fumble recovery for a touchdown get nullified when a forward pass that was actually knocked out going backwards with this rule that was going forward. That's the first time I've heard that rule being, I guess, intent that way.
[00:19:12] Speaker B: Intent was the rule.
[00:19:14] Speaker A: You know how many games that would have changed in the past, like even last year? Complete. And by the way, thank you to the college football committee for coming out and saying Western Michigan should have won that game.
So.
[00:19:27] Speaker B: But they can't overturn it, so they can't return it.
[00:19:29] Speaker A: So.
[00:19:30] Speaker B: But that doesn't sound good for Michigan if they're on the bubble for the playoff spot.
[00:19:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I'll take the points not really digging it. I still think Ravens win by at least a touchdown. I think it'd be 7 to 10 points, actually, so I'm hoping it doesn't bite me in the ass.
[00:19:45] Speaker B: Jason, you're going. You're going Saints here, Rome.
[00:19:47] Speaker A: I already said it, all right? I'm not gonna repeat myself. I'm moving on. Jason has Saints plus eight and a half.
[00:19:55] Speaker B: All right. I mean, I guess you might as well just tell me Jason's pick since you two are just riding coattails. I wonder if you guys code conspired before this show.
[00:20:04] Speaker A: No, we got different picks.
I'm not looking at his picks until afterwards.
[00:20:10] Speaker B: Looking right now. You guys are on every game together right now currently.
[00:20:16] Speaker A: I guess so.
[00:20:17] Speaker B: So I'm just saying. I'm just saying. All right, Somebody might get the wrong idea, but that's all good. It's a good chance for me to catch up.
[00:20:26] Speaker A: Eagles, Titans.
Eagles favorite on the road by seven.
39 and a half over, under. Obviously don't think that it's going to be a very high scoring game.
Aaron, go ahead.
[00:20:40] Speaker B: Yeah, 39 and a half over, under.
I mean, look, Tennessee, they didn't score any points against the jets, and the jets ain't the Eagles. Look at the Eagles. Big Fangio. That defense can ball out. They can play. They got playmakers. They might have the best defensive unit out there. They're well coached. We know Fangio's been coaching defenses in the NFL for like 40 years.
Eagles offensively still a lot to be desired.
But I'm, I'm going to take the Eagles here on the road, -7. I think they can cover a touchdown here. I just don't have any faith right now in the Titans. Cam Moore doesn't have a lot of playmakers. I mean, the only thing they may have going for them is Brian D. Coming from the Giants. He's faced this defense twice, so he has a pretty good understanding of the schemes they're going to do. But right now, the Titans just don't have the players to really threaten the Eagles. I like the Eagles to win by at least 10 here, so give me the Eagles.
[00:21:30] Speaker A: Nice. Love it.
All right, Eagles.
I think they're going to blow them out, so I got the seven I think they cover. I think they probably score mid 20s. Titans lucky to get 10.
This might be an interesting underplay here because I think it's going to be 27, maybe 10, maybe 13, so you might miss out, but that's how I got it playing out here.
Jason, let me see real Quick. I was playing my power rankings.
[00:22:04] Speaker B: Jason ain't taking the tie ins.
[00:22:05] Speaker A: Yeah, so Eagles as well from Jason.
All right, quick update here. Since we're going to go to the afternoons, I'll talk about my power rankings real quick. It is on Instagram X and on Facebook.
I did post we did have post the preseason rankings posted as well. I did a one through 15.
It was based on off season moves what teams had going on. Gotta still respect the super bowl champs they came in before the season started. At number two. I put Rams at number one understandably since they are the Super Rams.
After week one though, lots and lots of changes. Probably the most amount of changes I've had to make in the top eight ever since doing these power rankings for three years. And I also broke one of my own rules that a team cannot climb or drop more than five positions.
That's called overreacting. I hate these power rankings that overreact. They have a team in second, then they drop them down to 15th and they climb back up to seven after another victory. Yet that is complete here. Little continuity. I consider all the nuances. So at number eight now making a considerable jump here.
The Bengals moving up from number nine to number eight.
Nice victory.
Seven is the Texans.
They were listed at number five before the season. They dropped down. Tough loss against a really good team. So the rules stay in place. They drop down but not enough to drop out of the top eight. Six is the Eagles. They did win and look pretty good at a big chunk of the or parts of the game. And I have a lot of respect for Jalen Hurts. He just knows how to win when it matters.
They jumped just one position. It wasn't like a game breaker. It was mainly because so many guys jumped out of the top eight. Rams, my number one team during the preseason, dropped down to number five. They look disgusting. I was tempted to drop them out completely out of the top eight and I feel like I would have plenty to justify it since I did make an exception to another team. But Rams are at number five. I'm giving them benefit of the doubt. We'll see what number two comes out with proper travel strategy and rest.
Number four jumping up from 10 to four is the Chicago Bears.
Nice victory over Carolina. I'm not going to jump all over the jock like everybody else does, but it was nice. Carolina is going to be a good out.
[00:24:36] Speaker B: I don't see any more room on that jog. Man. Jason's taking up everything. Enough for the show.
[00:24:41] Speaker A: It's a lot. Number three Seahawks. The Defending world champions. They did win. I usually don't dock teams when they win, but it was an ugly win. And they won because Drake May threw that game literally away into the Seahawks hands. So they dropped down from number two to number three. Top two teams making the biggest jump in Rome's NFL power rankings in history. Here is the Baltimore Ravens at number two. They jumped from 15 to number two. They just flat out looked so good. And I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, guys, so you know these are unbiased rankings. But that's how phenomenal they looked.
Lamar looked great. Henry looked great. The defense swarmed the out of the Colts. I know the Colts came back a little bit at the end, but the game was already decided at halftime. Their souls were taken away. That's why the Ravens are now number two. And then the number one team is the Bills.
Nice win over the Texans. We know how the end of the game worked, but they were already ranked number four in the preseason rankings. So when two of the Forge lose, you automatically are the top. So that is the rankings after week one. Check it out. Preseason and week one power rankings on the socials.
All right, back at it. Afternoon games. Raiders, Chargers, chargers. Favor by six and a half at home. 43 and a half over under Aaron.
[00:26:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, look, the Chargers broke a lot of people's hearts in week one, especially those in the circuit contest. Dropping out a good 30 plus percent of players.
[00:26:25] Speaker A: That's awesome.
[00:26:28] Speaker B: And maybe the ugliest game I've seen the Chargers play under the hardball era. I mean, I had to look to see if that was Brandon Staley still out there on the sidelines because that was ugly football from the Chargers. Look, we talk. We saw the offseason Mike McDaniel going in there. Herbert was going to look great. He did not. This team did not look comfortable offensively, defensively. Got a new coordinator in there as well. They just. They didn't look great. They didn't look like they're ready to play. I expect hardball to really get into these guys this week. I don't see them coming out playing two weeks that bad. The Raiders nice, impressive win. Kubak in his debut. But they did play against maybe the worst team in the league that some experts believe could go 0 and 17 in Miami. Still no Brock Bowers. The run game with Ashton D. Looked pretty good defensively. We're going to get a better test of maybe what the Raiders got, but who knows? The Chargers offensively did not look great. But this is a classic game where I think a lot of teams in week one that we expect to be good or playoff contenders or playoff teams that did not play well bounce back. So with that said, give me the chargers at home -6 and a half.
[00:27:31] Speaker A: I like it.
And mainly because I think Harbaugh's in the hot seat, man, I really do. I know he's friends with the owners and all that good stuff. That's why he fled college football when all those investigations, suspensions were about to kick in.
And they love him down there and he loves Herbert, but that was a dismal showing. He did not do any interviews this week, more or less. No one really did from the Chargers, which is a good sign. I think they're come out really focused. Raiders are going to come back down to reality. I think they win by a touchdown. They barely cover. I got the charters as well.
Jason has Chargers as well.
Next game, Jags, Broncos, Broncos fair by two and a half at home, 45 and a half over under Aaron.
[00:28:18] Speaker B: I mean, we had the Jay Z Bowl last week. Might as well call this the at ball here with my boy, Liam Cohen. Sean Payton going to toe to toe. Look, the Jaguars did something they hadn't done ever in franchise history. They flew out west, destroyed.
You know, some teams out here, the 49ers, they beat the drums off. Yeah, you know, the Raiders, they beat the drums off. The Broncos, they went into the Mile High and just beat them bad. Some people think the same thing's gonna happen again, but I'd say not so fast, my friend. Look, Denver looked like dog on Monday. It was an embarrassment. I, I mean, if you're watching the film as a player, I mean, Sean Payton, I, I heard he chewed so much ass off these guys, there's no more bone even left.
Bo Nixon. The Broncos bounce back. They get the win. They cover. Give me the Broncos minus two and a half. I love the Jags. I think they're gonna have a great year. But this is a tough task for them to go from Jacksonville to Denver this early in the year to play against a Broncos team that literally, literally got their ass chewed out on the flight there. And all week I just, I can't see Denver playing that bad again. And Davis Webb, you know, I don't know how this guy went from nobody to like seven teams were interested in this guy as a head coach. You're talking about hot seat guys. This guy's on the hot seat as a coordinator because Sean Bain's basically one click away from taking over play calling duty again.
Big game For Denver, I think they find a way to get it done. I like the Broncos.
[00:29:43] Speaker A: I don't like this game, man. If, if, if there was a stay away from betting, I would stay away from this. Two and a half is just way too close.
Giving the Jags maybe four points, I would kind of take them. I think it might be a field goal type game. It's not cold enough in Denver either. It's actually pretty warm this year.
Warmer than most years. So it's really nice.
[00:30:02] Speaker B: I talked to a guy from Denver area today, Rome. He told me the same.
[00:30:05] Speaker A: Yeah. The only issue is the altitude is still different and that's a. Definitely a big jump from Jacksonville when I think you're technically under sea level there. So Broncos, I don't love it, but I'm going to agree with you. I'll take it. They have to bounce back. Otherwise some asses are getting chewed out for real.
Especially Bo Nix after this game.
[00:30:27] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, they got the Rams on a Monday night after this game to the Broncos. So big game.
[00:30:32] Speaker A: I win this one. Jason. I believe he has Broncos minus two and a half. All right, Jason.
[00:30:40] Speaker B: No. No love for Liam Cohen, huh? All that talk. No. No action to pull this up.
[00:30:44] Speaker A: And by the way, going back to the Chargers, someone on X pointed. I think I know what's wrong with them.
And they circled the coaching staff. Do you know who's on the coaching staff for as passive game coordinator?
[00:30:56] Speaker B: Go ahead and name it. They've got so many guys that have come and gone.
[00:30:58] Speaker A: Adam Gates.
[00:31:00] Speaker B: Yeah, but I think Adam Gates. Did he join up late last year? I thought he did.
[00:31:07] Speaker A: Don't know.
I just remember how bad he was as a head coach. All right.
[00:31:11] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:12] Speaker A: Cowboys commanders. Cowboys Fair by four at home.
15 and a half over under for a shootout.
Aaron.
[00:31:22] Speaker B: Yeah, man. You kind of touched on it. Maybe you're segueing in from the other game, but that four points. You were going with the road team. I'm going with the four points commanders. This look at Dallas doesn't stop anybody. Commanders are better than people think. I do think Dallas wins, but I like the commanders to cover close game. Give me the commanders plus four. Dak and the boys. They need to show up. They were abysmal that Sunday night against the Giants. Maybe it's that New York 911 flare in the air. Kind of got two of them. They didn't show up. They didn't respect their opponent. They weren't physical. This can be a physical game. Tough game. Dan Quinn's got those boys playing the Commanders play the Eagles really, really tough. Another physical game. Back to back road games. I don't know if Washington has enough to get the win, but I think they can cover four. The spreads a little high. Should be at three.
[00:32:11] Speaker A: Pretty interesting. This is a tough match. Should be pretty exciting in years past, especially the first year. And then whenever Daniels was healthy last year on the road or at home, he was killer. How do you look last week? Did you like it?
[00:32:27] Speaker B: I saw some things I liked, but I mean, look, the Eagles got a great defense, so it's hard to. For me to say anybody looks good against that defense. I thought Diggs did some nice things. They didn't get the run game going. The run game did not look well. But I mean, the Eagles D line's one of the best. I mean, Cowboys got a pretty good D line, but the secondary in linebacker play for the Cowboys has been shaky. They'll be better this week. They have to be. I mean, that was maybe the worst defense performance ever. We talked about running backs literally coming out of the backfield, being 20 yards open that I could catch and get first downs. So I expect Dallas to be better offensively. We know they can do some things, but Washington's got more team speed. They're. You know, that was the thing with them. They were old. So I think it's a tight game in big D. I think it's a tight game. I'm gonna take the four. Like I mentioned, Rome, this is tough
[00:33:15] Speaker A: because I do have the commanders over for their season total, but I got the Cowboys. I was on them to kind of kick off early on a man and they. And they dropped considerably from my power rankings. They are in the preseason top 15.
I don't know. This is a complete. Stay away from me. Complete stay away. You kind of convinced me though. I was gonna go the Cowboys covering, but I think I might switch now to the commanders just because I do like Jalen Daniels.
[00:33:42] Speaker B: I'm marking it down for the commander's realm. I'm marking you down.
[00:33:46] Speaker A: Doesn't matter.
Let's see what Jason got.
Cowboys minus four. Jason has the Cowboys covering.
We'll see what happens. This should be pretty exciting, but Cowboys D did not good look last week in in New York.
Next game, Seahawks. Cardinals. Seahawks favorite on the road in Arizona over under 41. Aaron.
[00:34:16] Speaker B: Yeah, man. This is a intriguing game, right? I mean, look, the Cardinals came out with the biggest upset in week one, beating the Chargers as a nine and a half point dog.
Nice win, Seattle. Here we know Sam Darnold's out. Drew Lockets, the start still trying. They got a rookie running back, Adam Notre Dame, a rookie first time coordinator on the offensive side. The defense is still great.
But here's the upset. Rome. Not only do I like the Cardinals to cover for, I think the Cardinals are going to win this game outright. If people are looking for an upset on the money line, I like the Cardinals, but I'm going to take the four points.
I think it's a close game. Sam Darnold only beat these guys last year by three points on the road.
Jacoby, Brissette, the weapons they have, they'll be able to move the ball. There'll be a time of possession will be big. I don't trust Drew Locke. I don't trust a new OC yet. Give me the Cardinals plus four at home. I like them as a small, slight moneyline dog as well.
[00:35:15] Speaker A: Oh, man, I was really going back and forth on this and I think you swayed me. You know, for some reason I, I was not considering Darnold being out of this game. I think he should be only out one, maybe two max. Right.
[00:35:31] Speaker B: I'm here maybe four games.
[00:35:32] Speaker A: Three, four games.
[00:35:33] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I don't really know. It's a soft, weird soft tissue injury.
[00:35:37] Speaker A: I thought their backup did pretty well in relief.
The defense, everyone's defense looks shaky, but the Cardinals just had so much heart in week one.
You're right, they do have a lot of weapons. Berset, he's kind of weird, man. He looked good in parts during his time with the Pats and then he didn't and then now he looks explosive again. He has.
[00:36:03] Speaker B: He rhymes with Geno Smith. Like basically the guy looks one week like he's old and washed up. You could put him in a wheelchair and he'd be watching games on Sunday with us.
And then he comes down and plays. Well, I believe this is the first time too. Like I, like I said, I like the Cardinals. I mean everyone thought last week that the Floor brothers were both going to get a win. It was looking that way. They didn't. I don't know if two brothers of the head coaches have won the same weekend in the NFL ever. We get that this weekend.
[00:36:31] Speaker A: Yeah, maybe it is a close fight in, in Arizona. So I'm a pivot here. I'll take the Cardinals with the points. I think Seahawks still win, but yeah, next game.
[00:36:44] Speaker B: What about Jason? Who's he got?
[00:36:47] Speaker A: Jason has Seahawks covering the four points.
Next game, Dolphins 49ers here in the Bay Area.
Niners favored by 13 over under 45. Aaron, who you got?
[00:37:05] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a big number.
Dolphins did not look good. I think they stayed here on the west coast after losing to Vegas. So they probably practicing up in San Jose or somewhere over there. Probably San Jose State University. Maybe down there, Santa Clara somewhere.
Look, the 49ers are going to win this game. The 49ers can be the top pick probably for a majority of people in Survivor. Them and Tampa Bay. From what I'm hearing from a lot of people, I like the Niners to win, but you know, Stribling we mentioned, he's out for 10 weeks.
The dolphins, they, they, you know, they didn't do too well, but they. I think the Dolphins can keep it closer than 13.
I'm going to take Miami plus 13.
And look, 49ers, maybe a look ahead game. They got the Cardinals coming in divisional matchup.
Maybe a little, you know, slight coming back from Australia. Maybe a little tired. Maybe. Maybe my. Maybe riding the waves a little too much over there. After beating the Rams, this is a 8 to 10 point win, I think for the 49ers. So I'll take the 13.
[00:38:09] Speaker A: Yeah, a lot of points. I was kind of leaning with you as well. And then I'm thinking there's no way Miami's bad.
[00:38:18] Speaker B: That's.
[00:38:18] Speaker A: There's no way. Dude. This niner team is still deep. They're a little bit older, one of the older teams in the league, but they are deep. Purdy's playing phenomenal.
Debo him them utilizing as utility guy
[00:38:32] Speaker B: fast in a 49ers uniform, but he looks slow as molasses. The commanders. I. Dude, I don't know. He doesn't fit. He didn't fit.
[00:38:38] Speaker A: He honestly lost little weight. He looks quick again. He looks elusive. He did run the ball, catch a little.
[00:38:44] Speaker B: Man.
[00:38:45] Speaker A: He did get.
Get some special teams player. I just picked him up on the way wire for my team just in case.
[00:38:51] Speaker B: Nice, nice.
[00:38:52] Speaker A: But I think I, I hate doing this, But I think four Niners went big. They cover the 13 points.
[00:39:01] Speaker B: Nice room. Wouldn't surprise me. Well, early in the season. I'll take the Dolphins here.
[00:39:05] Speaker A: Yeah, why not? All right.
[00:39:07] Speaker B: Colts. Jason. Jason, who's he got?
[00:39:10] Speaker A: Sorry.
[00:39:11] Speaker B: I think he's going to Miami. I feel like he's going Miami.
[00:39:13] Speaker A: He's going Miami. He got Dolphins.
[00:39:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I figure. I think he's. I think he's got some flip flops on. So he's going with Miami in this one.
[00:39:20] Speaker A: Flip flop. Yeah. All right, next game. Colts, Chiefs, chiefs here by six. And a half over under 46 and a half.
Aaron.
[00:39:31] Speaker B: You know, all I heard Tuesday was all these Chiefs fans coming out saying they're back. Oh my God, we're great. The world is back to normal. Da da da da da da. Look at Patrick Mahomes ate the quarterback he was before. Look at the film Rome. We've been talking about three years. He's getting worse, worse, worse, worse, not better.
And look the referees. Travis Kelsey holding players out there like he's dancing with Taylor Swift at his wedding. Come on. What the hell are the referees doing here? And the Broncos with 30 plus missed tackles. One of the worst games I've ever seen from a team that was basically one game away from the Super Bowl. Shane Steichen, these guys had these boys on the ropes last year. They lost that game started their downfall. They ain't one since. They lost like seven, eight straight. Remember, they were Daniel Jones. They were whipping these guys like 20 to three. Kansas City rally back.
I'm going the Colts plus six and a half. The only guy that scares me on KC is really Kenneth Walker. Look, this defense looked good young, so got some playmakers there. They're going to be fine on that side of the ball. But I don't want to hear about Patrick Mahomes this and that. I think the guy's career is going downhill. The tape shows it, the film shows it. Give me the Colts plus six and a half.
[00:40:44] Speaker A: You know, interesting.
Mahomes was almost four miles per hour faster than he was last year. Almost back to the speed that he was pre entry.
A little rust that's expected. He's been out for like 270something days. Came back probably a little early, but I thought he showed enough promise.
[00:41:05] Speaker B: Huh. Probably way early. Nine months. I mean this is a typical pretty. Michael Parsons got hurt the same week he's. He's not even got a date when he's returning.
[00:41:14] Speaker A: But that big time running back that they got from Seattle, I don't think Walker Mahomes has had anyone like that ever in his career. And he's a dog. He's a dog and you know, a really nice guy. Everyone likes him. Rasheed Rice also had a nice game. I think they have enough.
I think Colts are going to be struggling this year because they have a lot of injuries. And I think they had another wide receiver busted for TOI. He blew a 0.22 something.
[00:41:40] Speaker B: That's Keenan Allen Row.
[00:41:42] Speaker A: That's key now.
[00:41:44] Speaker B: Cal University.
[00:41:45] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:41:45] Speaker B: So yeah, my mom's a little quiet on that one. You Know she likes to talk when everybody else did. But. But she, she's been. Lifts have been shut.
[00:41:53] Speaker A: Rome, your mom loves him. But this is Sunday night though.
[00:41:56] Speaker B: Sunday night.
[00:41:57] Speaker A: Monday night to Sunday night prime time. Like this is when they get all the calls. The NFL wants them to do well, they're going to cover the six and a half they win by at least a touchdown. In fact, I think they're Gonna win by 10 points and put Steichen and company on the early hot seat.
Jason has Colts plus six and a half.
[00:42:23] Speaker B: So I knew Jason. I knew Jason would join me on that. Stichen. I've been, I've been getting him to go that way for a while now.
[00:42:28] Speaker A: Yeah. All right. Last game. Monday night football.
The New York Giants against the Los Angeles Rams and Sofi Stadium.
We should go to the Monday night game. Dude, tickets are not that bad. Should be a fun experience.
5 o', clock, 5:15 kickoff time. Rams are here by seven points over under 48.
[00:42:50] Speaker B: 5:15 kickoff time. That means the stadium's only be about 25% full because that traffic getting down there is going to be a pain in the ass.
But look, the Rams, they left their game at so far they didn't bring it to Australia.
And the Giants, look, they beat their, they beat physically the Cowboys up. They're riding that high now they gotta fly all the way from a Sunday night prime time game to a Monday night primetime game. I touched on this earlier Rome. A lot of these teams that sucked in week one are going to look more like themselves in week two. Sean McVay, the best coach in the NFL. This guy was embarrassed. You could see the look on his face in Australia.
He was disgusted by what he saw. Looks like Aaron Donald will play in this game. I'm calling it now. He will play. I no doubt after he saw that ass whooping ugliness. He's stepping on the field. They need him. Now that Miles Garrett is out, who knows how long he's going to be out. I mean the only thing Cleveland Browns got going for him this offseason is they traded that sucker away for some first round picks. But that said, I like the Rams at home. Minus seven Rome. Puka, Adams, Williams in the run game all have big nights dart and the Giants come back to Life.
Rams by 10.
[00:44:06] Speaker A: Yeah, you know, I guess the, the theme is all the good teams that implo play well in week one. They're going to bounce back in week two because they're the good teams. And we'll know a lot more after this week. So I'm with you. Rams rebound.
Seven points is a lot, man. And this Giants team, they're feisty. I think they actually back to recover this thing, man, that's a little nervous.
But for now I'll take the Rams. I do think this is an over 48 as well. I would definitely play that as a side.
Jason has Rams -7.
So lots of matching games this week. We're going opposite directions on people rebounding. That's the theme of this week two in the NFL. We'll see how it turns out.
It should be a fun one though.
[00:44:59] Speaker B: Yeah, should be. I mean there. I think there's some live dogs that could win this week. Bengals is one of them at two and a half. Cardinals as well.
So even commanders plus four. So we'll see what happens. But some good action across the board. Check out the sofa wise guys. I know sniper gave a lot of overs in that one, so let's see how it plays out, man. Confident this week, man. Got to come up with five games for the circa millions, but we'll see how that goes.
[00:45:28] Speaker A: Nice. Yeah. Check out the sofa wise guys. We record every midweek episodes should be out every Thursday morning covering Thursday night football, sometimes Friday night not lights for college football, Saturday college football games and plus Sunday NFL games. At least that's how it was this past week. And the sniper, he went hunting and he was gunning down a lot of kit picks because he gave us like six, seven or eight picks.
[00:45:55] Speaker B: He's. He's riding the over and he wrote the over here tonight. And that game put up 65, no 72 total points in that one. Maybe you can get a little carryover from that one to the next one.
You know, he. He's one of the few guys that does like the over. I think you actually came out in the over in the Patriots Steelers game. He likes that Rome.
[00:46:17] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:19] Speaker B: As well as he likes the over. And the Chargers one.
Commanders, I believe, and Cardinal Seahawks. So he's on a lot of over unders. I think we also like the over under in the Saints Ravens game. Both those offenses I believe can put up some points on a 46 and a half one.
So let's see how it all plays out this weekend. Excited. College football's coming up on Saturday, even tomorrow. Texas Tech, Houston, that's a big game.
[00:46:43] Speaker A: So yeah, I'm gonna try to win my money back this Sunday.
Make it up for the stay away
[00:46:48] Speaker B: from those prop bets. Rome. Yep. Yeah, you know, find. Find about three or five games across the board. You like and just let them ride, man. Let it ride.
[00:46:56] Speaker A: Let it ride.
Let it ride. All right, that'll do it. Lines of the guys Rome we had Aaron. Jason submitted his picks. Absent.
[00:47:09] Speaker B: Did that even come from Jason's email? Or does that come from, like, a blocked email? Because, I mean, some of these guys got ringers. Jason, he may have a few because 11 and three, week one. Somebody better check to see who's really submitting those picks.
[00:47:21] Speaker A: I gotta be honest with you. Jason's never used the email that he submitted his picks on. That was a new email.
He sent it to the sources SOFA Gmail account. So there you go, taking it for what it's worth.
What it's worth.
[00:47:35] Speaker B: What's the IP address on that thing? You have to really look into it.
[00:47:39] Speaker A: I could probably find out, but that's for another pod. All right, I'll do it. Catch sources from the sofa every week with weekly recaps for the NFL, college football lines with the guys for the NFL, as well as Aaron's college football games and plays of the week graphic Going up on the socials.
