[00:00:03] Speaker A: All right, welcome everybody. Sources from the sofa. I'm on the road of my sisters because it's my nephew's eighth birthday. So I stole either him or my other nephew's headphones. I got some artwork. [00:00:15] Speaker B: Big WWE guys there, right? I mean, WWE guys. [00:00:19] Speaker A: Yeah. I was about to teach him blackjack again. We'll see if we have enough time for that, but we have a lot to talk about. World Cup Final, Belgium Grand Prix and LeBron Roch 2026 version, which I'm completely sick of. And I'm sick of Adam Silver delaying the NBA schedule because of this dude, understandably. But I'm just sick of a lot of things from the NBA. But let's start with the World cup first because it was a. For me, it was a pretty fun final. My team won. Spain, if you guys don't know, I'm Spanish. And all the casuals did not like it because it was like a quote unquote typical boring soccer game. But dude, I think I mentioned the pod. It was like the last one, the one previous where I said Spain works the game. Like Floyd Mayweather worked every match on the defensive side. Very precise on his counter attacks, moving around. And the way they made France look pedestrian in the round prior, they did the same thing to Argentina. They did not get one shot inside the box. It was unbelievable. And Spain, I think they completed about what it was like 90 of the passes compared to 10% of the possession against Argentina. Argentina, man, they were coming into this World cup heavy favorites to claim their back to back World cup chip. They had some lucky breaks. Whether you want to say it's the refs or just coming in clutch in the final minutes against Cape Verde, against Egypt, against England as well. England might have presented a better World cup final, you know, because they looked really good in the third plus game. The third place game was amazing. It was just a shootout and the big dog still played a considerable amount in that game. So pretty shocking. But it was like no defense, which is pretty rare from like two powerhouses like that. We'll talk a little more about that. But Spain though, dominated from end to end. They only got one goal, took extra time to get into it with a little deflection and then a nice goal in the upper part of the net by. Dude, who is the goalkeeper for. I'm forgetting his name. Martinez. [00:02:36] Speaker B: Yeah, Martinez. He had Emilio. Emilio Martinez or something like that. [00:02:39] Speaker A: Block so many goals up there. Spain just felt like they had, they had. Yeah, he did have a World cup final. I think it was like Nine. Very impressed. I thought he had a phenomenal job. And like, you know, when they give away the awards, too, for the Golden Glove, right? Obviously, Spain's goalkeeper won it, but how [00:03:00] Speaker B: do you win it when you only face, like, five shots the whole tournament? [00:03:03] Speaker A: He had a record seven clean sheets. And, like, yeah, it's a record, but no one. No, no one got past it. [00:03:09] Speaker B: Let's. Let's be honest, guys. We could have all done what the Spain goalkeeper did. Come on. Let's just be honest. Ye had. [00:03:14] Speaker A: He was on vacation. I think he finally. [00:03:17] Speaker B: I think he was bored. [00:03:18] Speaker A: I. I think the first shot on goal was like five minutes left in the second half. It was amazing. But Spain won 1 0. I'm super ecstatic. Second time they won the World Cup. Second time in the past 16 years, so it's a good little run. They won the Euros two years ago repeating the same thing. We'll see if they win the Euros again in two years from now. Looks like they got a really young team. So first time there's been a couple teenagers. Even the other teenager, not Yamal, but the other one, he's the one that won. Young player of the tournament. [00:03:48] Speaker B: Defense, right? Young player. [00:03:50] Speaker A: Pretty solid guy. Yeah. So Paul Kubarsi, both 19, just a little bit younger. But Yamal getting all the love. He got really close, but he did come in his trim a little hurt. But for me, it was a fun tournament. I got a little too lit after. Spain won't, so not a surprise. At 2:30 turn into, like, I don't know what happened. And, you know, stuff just happened at the end of the night. So, you know, as much as I want to record a pot on Sunday night, I don't even know where I ended up Sunday night. That's how fun it was, I think. [00:04:21] Speaker B: I think me and Jason might have spotted you in that Madrid highlight when they're all celebrating. I could have sworn I saw someone that looked like Roman there. I mean, such a party. You changed his name to Dawn. [00:04:32] Speaker A: Oh, man. [00:04:34] Speaker C: Yeah, someone gave him that nickname in the crowd, you know, the Donna. [00:04:37] Speaker B: Yeah, there's a Dawn. There's the dawn right there. [00:04:42] Speaker A: I. I had a lot of free shots. [00:04:43] Speaker C: I don't know. I don't know our success rate of recording Sunday night pods from the schedule, but it's low. It's. It's. It's a low conversion. It's a low conversion rate. [00:04:53] Speaker B: Below 10, I can guarantee you that. [00:04:55] Speaker A: 10 below. Below that. [00:04:59] Speaker B: I mean, between the NFL World cup and every other time we said we're gonna record on a Sunday, it's maybe one out of every 20. [00:05:05] Speaker A: I don't think so, man. [00:05:07] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:05:07] Speaker C: Anyways, we'll start keeping the stats on this. [00:05:11] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll keep it up on season three when football gets back up and running in a few weeks. [00:05:17] Speaker C: Oh, he wants to do it when football starts. All right. Because then he knows he's sitting home all day and it's like, okay, this is a timing, but like we say, like, hey, we can do a Sunday afternoon right after the game's over. Rome, right there. I'm like, nah, I'm just. I'm out in Spain, man, partying it up. I'm at the Madrid watch party. [00:05:34] Speaker A: I was at a really cool watch party. It was really fun. A lot of free drinks in any case. So, thoughts in the World cup, how do you guys feel about it overall? The World Cup I thought, was a pretty good success. Really good tournament, great games, and thankfully Spain actually won because if Argentina won, it might have been, like, little pandemonium around the world of, like, how fixed this tournament could have been. And then Trump interfering and then they got Infertino and then all that var. It's just a lot of things. But for us, for as a few of the things that just got, like, a lot of publicity in a black eye. Overall, this tournament was pretty phenomenal, and I think it was really good for soccer overall. [00:06:16] Speaker C: Yeah, phenomenal tournament. I think just end to end the storylines were incredible, you know, starting with, you know, the US Men's team. I think the. Just from the. The tourism in the United States was. Was awesome. We talked about that on several pods. Just people, you know, coming to the United States, I mean, even going to. I think even going to Mexico and Canada too. And just like, with this. This thing, you know, social media has been around for, you know, 20 plus years, but, like, I think this, like, lived on social media like, this time around as far as, like, people experiencing what the US has to offer and, you know, for whatever our reputation is around the world and whatever, you know, whatever news channels that they get over there and see what we are, I think they saw, you know, they're. They're in with the actual people of the United States. And it was, you know, hey, we. We can all party together. And if there's a common. There's a common unity about football, but I think the common unity is also, is partying and like, hey, the world can party together. And, you know, the United States just has, like, endless places where we can go I mean, we're uniquely fitted to host a tournament of this size. You know, we were talking about it, and there's the rumors of, like, this coming back on that next one. I don't know, is it 2038 or that the next open one is. And yeah, I think we're just. We're just uniquely suited. We got the stadiums and I think we got the interest and we got all of the infrastructure to be able to do it. But I think at the end of the day, like, this is, you know, greatest country in the world, and everyone's be able to experience the parts that's just not all over the news or the bad parts of social media. And, you know, people. You got people in Scotland out, you know, drinking Boston Dry. You got guys, Germany touring the south, you know, you know, you had. Even in Mexico, you had like, what was it like, Japan, Korea, like, partying with, you know, in Mexico with fans of day. It was like. It was. It was. It was just awesome to see. And I think that's what, you know, the World cup and the Olympics and kind of all this stuff is about. And it was good end to end, I think. And when we got down to the final four, like, Aaron's the betting expert on the pod, but I think these were the four favorite teams. And so we kind of got shocked. I think Argentina was probably maybe the four seed out of that. I think we would probably more have expected the, you know, France, you know, to be in the final. I don't think the bracket hooked up that way, but, like, you know, but then England obviously, you know, was really good throughout the tournament too. But you had. You had the biggest. The biggest star in the world, you know, showdown against what seems to be, you know, the best machine when it comes to soccer program, like, end to end. I think it was touted, you know. [00:08:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:46] Speaker C: You know, I mean, Spain, from the youth level up, you know, just builds, you know, impeccable team, I think. What, like, is it like eight starters play for Barcelona or something like that or whatever they got. [00:08:57] Speaker A: It's a rarity. [00:08:58] Speaker B: Yeah. Nobody from Real Madrid, which is crazy when you think about it. [00:09:03] Speaker C: So, I mean, you got a dichotomy there with. I mean, I don't think maybe Rome's the expert in La Liga when it comes to that, but. [00:09:09] Speaker B: La Liga, right? That's how the old rumors go, right? [00:09:13] Speaker A: It's. [00:09:14] Speaker C: Oh, I mean, like, Real Madrid basically buys the stars, like, they always have [00:09:17] Speaker B: the world's greatest stars. [00:09:19] Speaker C: But Barcelona, because I think they couldn't afford Messi towards the end and things, things like that. But like, hey, they have, you know, they're. I guess they're the Tampa Bay Rays of it. They got the ultimate like, farm system, except they win things. And I think that just goes up from Barcelona and this youth program that Spain has overall, that goes to this national team where, yeah, I think Yamal. Yamal got the, the praise of like, oh, this kid's like the next Messi and all this stuff. But he scores, what, one goal in the tournament. He didn't need to be great. I mean, he was really good and, and you could tell the talent on the field, but man, they just, they're just, there's just 11 deep and you mentioned that no one's gonna let anyone near the keeper. The keeper's probably great, but he didn't even have to show it because, you know, they, they control the possession and everything like that. [00:10:00] Speaker A: Yeah, you didn't deserve the Golden Glove, if anything, like Egypt's goalkeeper, you know, Capo Verdes even, you know, goalkeeper, like stopped a bunch, a bunch of goals. [00:10:12] Speaker B: Common knowledge. A goalie that wins or the team that wins, the goalie gets, it seems. Yeah, I mean, it's obviously Argentina won in 2022 and Emilio Mar wanted. But he had some great saves throughout that whole tournament. But yeah, like you guys mentioned, and [00:10:25] Speaker C: I'm sure it's like job. I'm sure it's probably some. Like, maybe the winner also probably has the best. Like, if you're looking at hockey, I don't know if they do goals against average where it's like, hey, like when you're looking at the defense and stuff, like, I got the best goals against average. I'm the keeper. [00:10:37] Speaker B: Yeah, you got one out of six. That's bad. Yeah, that's only 80. You got guys out here, like, 90 [00:10:42] Speaker C: goals against average is generally about like game. It's not save percentage. It's like just how many. Like when you, when you have seven clean sheets or whatever like that. Like no one's scoring on this team. But yeah, I mean, tournament end to end. I don't think you can speak high enough. It. I, I think there's all the think pieces and everyone's going to talk like, what does this do for soccer in America? [00:10:59] Speaker A: Blah, blah, blah, blah. [00:11:00] Speaker C: I think the game continues to grow. It's not going to surpass, I think, you know, our main, you know, three, four sports or whatever it is going to be. But I think at the youth level, you know, there's still a lot of politicking and everything comes to when us soccer as far as like how do we become like Spain and not be like, you know, the expensive travel thing that soccer seems to be like. You know, there's like one supply for this sport is a ball and it's like one of the most expensive travel sports to play when it comes to like the youth level so far. Like it's of our development program or whatever it might be. But I think interest is up in soccer and it's going to take generations to go through. But like you put this in here, we can put on a show for the world and then you know, we get to see, you know, from a world perspective. Like, I mean I don't know how many Manchester City fans are going to be happen because they're Erling Holland now and you know, some of the other stars of the, you know, the world. I mean there's, I think endless things on my Twitter feed is like, hey, everyone's interested in soccer and I want to choose a team that's going to be my team and like what's the rationale behind it? And everything's going to get it. [00:12:03] Speaker A: I don't, they. They don't know the commitment it takes to follow like Premier League Soccer. Even I have a team and you know, it goes in waves. It's a lot of games. [00:12:13] Speaker B: A lot of games. You got to be like 6am gotta [00:12:15] Speaker C: be, gotta be early, man. I mean like I'm dedicated to the F1 lifestyle, but you gotta, you gotta do that even more for, for European soccer. [00:12:23] Speaker A: Liverpool, I'm lucky if I'll catch like 25 of the games. Even when I was a, you know, big Barcelona, like Barcelona's on my team. But I liked watching the team and I got to watch Massey play, you know, live over there. Even then I still probably watched one out of eight games. You know, it's just, it's one thing to say you're gonna follow it, but. No, you're right though. I, I think a lot of people are going to be watching more. Premier League, La Liga, all the, all the top talent there. I really do think probably like to get movement going here. The United States them up against Belgium, like in a bad way. I think was actually a probably good, good thing. You're gonna see some moving. We'll see if Pochettino signs on for another, you know, four years. [00:13:04] Speaker B: I know that decision is coming on the next week too. Right. [00:13:07] Speaker A: It's supposed to be in today actually but. [00:13:10] Speaker B: Okay, I know that. [00:13:11] Speaker A: I know he got a couple of Some pretty good gigs on, you know, waiting for him too. And, and you know, there's a big difference between, you know, coaching national soccer versus, you know, club soccer, you know, a lot more day to day, so it'll be fascinating. [00:13:28] Speaker B: I heard, I heard he's more interested in kind of day to day in controlling a roster versus like the national team. [00:13:34] Speaker A: He wants final say and he wants a lot of things where like the US Organization, we got to lose, doesn't want to do it, man, we finally got the talent there to compete, give it to him. That's what happens. [00:13:46] Speaker C: They got nothing to lose, but it's, it's a power vacuum of stuff. And you know, I think, I think the U.S. men's soccer team's almost like college football when it comes to like boosters and stuff like that as far as who, who is putting the money into US Men's soccer. So everyone's probably a political voice and everything. And now you're talking, you know, not just an independently wealthy club where you can talk to one guy. I'm sure it's a consort podium of board people with U. S Soccer you got to convince and they all want their say and see. [00:14:12] Speaker B: Everyone wants a handout, man. Everyone. Exactly. [00:14:15] Speaker C: Well, everyone, everyone's the power associated with it too when it comes to like putting this team on the map and they're not, you know. [00:14:20] Speaker B: Well, didn't it, didn't it a couple. I didn't read a lot on the story. A lot. I don't know if it was assistant coaches or people within the U S. Federation got suspended and couldn't watch the Belgium game. Right. Well, did you guys read up on that story? [00:14:31] Speaker A: It was the game prior. [00:14:33] Speaker B: Okay, I, I saw something I didn't read up dig into it too much. Just like, just two guys from the USA Federation or something were suspended or could not attend the match or something. [00:14:43] Speaker A: They did something that kind of broke FIFA rules so they weren't allowed to attend, but it wasn't too crazy. Yeah, Circling back though, Messi, man, three world cups, loses two of them, pretty good career. He's probably done like, he looked pretty gassed in this one. [00:14:57] Speaker B: Pretty, pretty good career. [00:15:00] Speaker A: Pretty good career, man. Yeah, it's great. But you know, I kind of, I, I kind of did want to see him, you know, win another one, but dude, Argentina went out in flames. They did not look good in losing fashion. Kind of looking like pieces of. Did you see all the commotion at the end? Picking players, punching people and it's like, dude, like what the hell they Turn their back on the, on the trophy presentation. Just complete, utter disrespect throughout the whole thing. Argentina lost a lot of fans around the world and I guess people that follow the Argentinian team and in professional soccer there in South America, they say this is typical of Argentinians. Finally the world sees how they act. [00:15:41] Speaker B: Typical of all South America between Uruguay Parkway. It's all the same antics, man. [00:15:46] Speaker A: Dude, it's all antics. [00:15:49] Speaker B: You can't say va. You can't. You can't say they fixed it for FEMA because they didn't pull that second yellow card, which was an obvious yellow card. Had they pulled that, then I would have said, yeah, that flip, I was [00:15:59] Speaker A: like, oh man, he's out. [00:16:00] Speaker B: That flip was legit. Hurt. [00:16:02] Speaker A: That was a bad. [00:16:02] Speaker B: That hurt me. [00:16:07] Speaker C: Have you seen the bull video online, like recently or something like that? It's like a national park and it like upends this like elderly gentleman, like, and flips him up. [00:16:16] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:16:17] Speaker C: There, there was, there was like the, there was like a side by side of like those two things of like. [00:16:26] Speaker A: So yeah, they were playing pretty, pretty dirty and pushing the refs buttons all throughout the game. And I'm surprised Spain didn't score more goals. And credit to Argentinas for, you know, they did make it to the final. They, they. [00:16:38] Speaker B: But what was it, what was Argentina doing? Rome? I mean, the funny thing is when, when Argentina went down, when 10 early in that second extra time have. That's when they started to pick it up. That's when they actually started to attack again. Like Argentina is a weird team. Like once you score, they fall behind, they wake. They basically had no shots like you mentioned. Then they got three shots in like a five minute span and came real close. I'm like, oh shit. They might actually tie this thing up, which is crazy. We go to pk, which is what they were playing for the whole time because that's basically Spain's kryptonite. Even the announcers to hold them was like, Spain does not want to go to penalty kicks. He got. You got a hot goalie versus a goalie that's going to see more shots of penalty kicks than he's seen the whole tournament. Basically. [00:17:22] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:23] Speaker B: I just don't know what Argentina was doing. I mean, the pressing pressure. I mean, yeah, Spain's been great throughout this tournament, but I, I haven't seen Argentina look that bad. Whether or not they were just trying to save energy or just didn't have anything left in the tank. I, I didn't get their game plan. They didn't attack. They didn't deserve to win. I'm glad Spain won. It didn't go extendedly kicked. [00:17:43] Speaker A: I just think that's how good Spain was. It was like one of the most dominant performances I can ever remember. And. And that's just how good Spain is. [00:17:50] Speaker B: 20, 20 shots to zero at one time. Yeah. [00:17:53] Speaker A: No Argentina to get a shot on goal, on record until like the last five minutes of regular, you know, regulation. It was really impressive. Other than that, though, Messi's crying his eyes out. There's speculation he might try to come back, but they might change their coach. If they change their coach, they're going to change back to the philosophy. If you guys don't know. Besties had some ups and downs with the Argentinian Federation because he didn't really quit. [00:18:20] Speaker B: He quit in 2016. [00:18:22] Speaker A: So he's like, well, then you. Yeah, so. So he walked away and then came back shortly after a couple year hiatus. So there's a. There's a messy situation there. So if they hire a new coach, he'll probably go back to more like a team game plan. Not. [00:18:34] Speaker B: It's interesting. It's interesting because I think Ronaldo is what, 41? He said he's done. [00:18:39] Speaker A: He's done. [00:18:40] Speaker B: Yeah. But, you know, Portugal is obviously one of the host nations. Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina will host one home game to start this tournament to mark the 100 century mark. So there is maybe a possibility Messi's on the team. I don't know. I don't rule it out. He'd be 42, 43 when that tournament comes. Maybe as a reserve. Who knows? We'll see. [00:19:00] Speaker A: See how he's playing. Yeah, yeah. There's like a little skepticism, I guess people thought he was washed up because he's playing an mls. He looked the same, if not even better on the Internet, international stage. So it was really nice. It kind of gave some MLS a little bit of credibility here. [00:19:17] Speaker B: Well, I'd heard, I mean, maybe you know more about this Roman Jason. I heard basically, kind of one of the reasons why he came to MLS is because once he's done playing, he's going to start his own MLS franchise or buy one. [00:19:29] Speaker A: They keep on expanding. [00:19:30] Speaker B: That was the reason why he came here, because it's obviously easier to buy capitalism, all that, and buy a franchise than it is in Europe. [00:19:36] Speaker A: Well, there are a lot of made deals like that, the Kawaii Leonard deals in mls. Not like they can do it in that NFL, NBA. [00:19:42] Speaker C: It's basically got. [00:19:44] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. [00:19:45] Speaker C: Because he got, like, for, like. I don't think it was like, he got the rights for, like, to, like, $25 million for a franchise where it's like, you know, these things are worth, like, hundreds of millions of dollars. So it's basically like a. You just got to get kind of granted all the Miami. [00:20:00] Speaker A: Right, Correct. [00:20:01] Speaker B: Yes. [00:20:03] Speaker C: But he got that when he came to the Galaxy, you know, forever and a go to have the rights to. To get a franchise. And so I wouldn't be sure. [00:20:10] Speaker B: I think Messi has the same deal [00:20:12] Speaker C: because he got that. And I think Apple was behind, like, you know, fronting money to him. [00:20:16] Speaker A: That's right. That's right. [00:20:18] Speaker C: Yeah. Because they have the MLS rights for every game, so they were. They were part of it. So, I mean, that's the kind of thing with MLS where people talk about it not being kind of like a big professional league versus the rest of the league because they don't. The rest of the world, because they don't kind of play in the transfer portal. I mean, I don't know the things, but, like. Or the transfer. The transfer thing within world soccer, because you, like, kind of transfer to mls, you don't really transfer to, like, a team. And so. Yeah, yeah, so there's all these exceptions of, like, you know, you could have, like, you know, one player you pay all this kind of money to, but it's still like MLS and there's different things, and it's not by the club and, you know, because I think there was a similar thing they were trying to do with Ronaldo to, like, Sporting Kansas City or something like that at one point, before he took the massive payday to the Saudi Arabian team. So I think. I think that'll be. That'll be some interesting stuff with MLS's growth and everything. Like, do they get more independent as franchises, or do they kind of just still be kind of a consortium of elite type thing versus, you know, what. What the other, you know, clubs around the world, too, where they're just kind of independent. [00:21:22] Speaker A: Well, they're. They're. They're in talks to switch their season around to kind of match up with the rest of the world. [00:21:28] Speaker B: Because MLS is already starting. It's already playing, right? [00:21:32] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. They resume and they're. They're switching to, like, beyond the world schedule. [00:21:38] Speaker A: Yeah, the intersection starts at the. [00:21:39] Speaker C: It starts. [00:21:40] Speaker B: International schedule starts, what, mid to late August, right? [00:21:43] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:21:43] Speaker B: Coming up here in, like, four or five weeks. [00:21:45] Speaker C: Yep. [00:21:45] Speaker A: This is the last MLS here the way it is now. Then they're going to be put makes sense. [00:21:50] Speaker B: It makes sense. [00:21:51] Speaker A: So there's gonna be some change but yeah, overall great World Cup Final Messi. It was good seeing him do well. I'm not as I was not against Argentina as everybody else but glad Spain won. I think Spain's coach, oldest guy to win it now two World Cups underneath his belt. I don't think that that's been done. I think one prior was probably the Brazilian coach and I don't know. Any other comments? [00:22:20] Speaker C: No, I, I just think again end to end was a great World Cup. Look forward to four years from now. I think there was some great tweets as far as like, you know, my, my soccer fandom, you know, June to July 2026 and we'll see in four years. But I think there's some other ways that you know, international soccer will play and I think even some of the big, you know, big time soccer just kind of continues to like grow year over year. But I think, you know, it was exciting stuff. I think, I think not soccer related but obviously in LA we have the Olympics coming up in two years and so, you know, I think you see another kind of display out here more centrally in L. A when it comes. But you know, we'll have basketball, we'll have soccer and all the big Olympics here. [00:23:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:05] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:23:05] Speaker A: So be another round. Yeah, that's kind of cool. [00:23:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:23:08] Speaker C: Interested? I'll be interested. We have the Women's World cup. That'll be next year too. And so that's, that'll be another thing. I mean different level. The US Obviously way more competitive on the women's side versus the men's and so what does that do? I'm pretty sure. I think it's on Netflix. I think Netflix has the women's soccer rights. And, and so what's that's going to look like as far as like being [00:23:30] Speaker B: on Netflix might get the men's rights too because that's those 2030 and 2034 is up for bid now. So I know Fox, I believe NBC, ESPN and Netflix are kind of the main four players in that. [00:23:42] Speaker A: Quick question, did you guys keep track of the, the announcer booths with Fox? Do you prefer one over the other? [00:23:52] Speaker C: The announcer booths? No, I, I mean I liked, I liked most a lot of the guys that were doing it, but I couldn't tell you who was there. I mean the only, my only, my only take out of the whole thing. And it's like I think day one we were on here, I'm like, man, this analyst panel was like, rough when it was like, like, Rebecca Lowe is outstanding. She does NBC's premier soccer stuff. I thought that first day, like, I was like, man, she is doing God's work keeping the trains on the track. Because between Lawless and, you know, Zlatan and Henri, but by the, you know, by, by, like we end of week one, they turned this thing around and by the end, like, this was like, basically like, I think the inside. The NBA type level stuff. Like, Zlatan was like Barkley level, like, great. [00:24:37] Speaker B: He's retiring. He said he's retired. [00:24:40] Speaker C: Yeah, but I, I honestly, I think they. They nailed that. Talked about her. [00:24:45] Speaker B: I mean, the money that's negotiating for money. [00:24:47] Speaker C: On Lawless, we talked about at Lud Nauseam. He was, you know, a lot of heat. [00:24:53] Speaker B: He had a rough. [00:24:54] Speaker C: I. I gave my wrestling thing. He's got xpo key where it's like no one likes him. And if he's playing a he, he. Oh, but it's a. It's not a good heel. Like, no one likes him. [00:25:04] Speaker A: Other Terry Henry like him and slots and had like a good relationship on. I kind of heard rumblings behind where he was just tired of the whole, you know, crew, you know, because he was actually taking soccer a little bit seriously and wanted to break down games differently. We saw some clips like that throughout the tournament. He just had a little more precision to it. [00:25:22] Speaker B: But he does, he does the sperm on plus with Champions League. He's one of the main guys for that too. So. [00:25:26] Speaker A: So I think he'll be back and I think they'll probably strike that. I was just asking because John Sean, Stu Holden, they're like the lead booth. They're the ones that did the final. Stu's been doing like a lot of interviews and all different podcasts. I think he's pretty good. He's a good voice of like, soccer, you know, an emerging voice. He's just not my favorites. But I really like the Ian Dark, like the, you know, European American combo with Lana Dawn. I thought Lana Donna did really good on commentary and then even I thought that was a pretty good team too. I would rather heard both of those guys on the final over them. I kind of like that British accent doing play by play and then having an American Duke color commentary. I think it's a great combo. It's really funny because then you get the different nuances of different cultures and it makes like, like a really funny broadcast. [00:26:12] Speaker B: Get. [00:26:12] Speaker C: It's a good point. I, I love the British play by play. Guys. There is, there is some There is something about that when you're, when you're listening into these broadcasts and, and where they're at. But I think that's a great call out with kind of that contrast. [00:26:28] Speaker A: All right. Looking forward to the World cup or, you know, Olympics. We'll, we'll get more, more into it. [00:26:35] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll get 20, 28 Copa America, € cup, so we'll have all that. It's, you know, we'll get. They got that two year window. Two year window. [00:26:44] Speaker A: I'm actually gonna miss it, dude. I, I'm like, I know. [00:26:48] Speaker B: I think we will get the 2038 World Cup. I think it will be back here in North America at least. [00:26:52] Speaker A: Well, the rule is it has to be. It cannot, I guess it has to be different continents every other time. But now they're kind of breaking the rules now because, you know, I think. [00:27:03] Speaker B: Well, what do you guys think? You think they're going to expand this next 1 to 64 or they're going to wait a little bit? [00:27:08] Speaker A: I, I hope not. [00:27:09] Speaker B: Actually. [00:27:09] Speaker A: This is actually a pretty good mix [00:27:11] Speaker B: because I think 64 is going to debut in 2038 when we get it back here in the US because we, like Jason said we have all the stadiums. We're going to have new stadiums. [00:27:18] Speaker A: Well, because they still have to give it back to Africa. Washington, it's supposed to rotate, so it has to go to Africa first. It's going already to Qatar. [00:27:26] Speaker B: Africa. [00:27:27] Speaker C: I think Africa accounts. [00:27:28] Speaker B: They got the 2042, I believe they're going to get. [00:27:31] Speaker C: Was it that or is. Because isn't this next one in like they have in Morocco, like as part of Africa? [00:27:36] Speaker A: Oh my God. [00:27:37] Speaker C: So it's like. [00:27:38] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:27:40] Speaker A: They're gonna. [00:27:42] Speaker B: I think that was where like Saudi Arabia gets 2034. [00:27:46] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:27:46] Speaker B: And then I think Qatar goes back to like 2046 or some. Something like that. [00:27:51] Speaker A: But yeah, one of the biggest questions about it being in the US They've never separated this many, you know, fields this far apart. And there's a lot of question marks whether it can be done, but it was done pretty well. They probably should have had the final at Sofi. All the players love so far. I personally don't care for it, but when you're looking like the way it looks and like the, the audience and you know, the concessions, the views, the, the tech. I guess it does make a perfect spot to have like the halftime show. And, and, and everything [00:28:20] Speaker B: was fine. I mean the weather was nice. It was what, 75, 78 degrees? Sunny. It wasn't like 100 degree day out there. [00:28:26] Speaker A: Like that's a humid day in in Jersey. That's a tough day. [00:28:31] Speaker B: But I mean it was like it was like 100 here for me and Jason. So I I know LA is probably still at least 85.90. Yeah. Too. [00:28:40] Speaker C: So they would have tried to do Miami but Miami would have been insane with that third place game was already. [00:28:46] Speaker A: Dude, that was crazy. All right. Switch gears. F1. Literally Belgium Grand Prix. Alan caught highlights. So you didn't miss a lot. [00:28:59] Speaker B: There was not a lot going on. [00:29:01] Speaker A: Yeah, you know, I know. I know Antonelli got pull. I know he won it. But there was a little bit of change up in the top seven because Lando I thought had pretty good positioning [00:29:11] Speaker B: over here cheating or something. [00:29:12] Speaker A: And then he got ducked down. There was Hamilton or someone else got some penalties after the fact. So on a breakdown, how do we end up game with Antonelli, Leclaire and then Verstappen followed by Hamilton and Piastre. I think this is best showing all year so far this season. [00:29:30] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean like Aaron said it Rome, you didn't miss much. It's one of. It's my. One of my favorite tracks in the calendar in Spa. It's got the iconic on rouge, you know, going up the hill there. The landscape when you look at like the forest and everything is in Belgium. It's a beautiful track. And I just think overall one of my favorites. But didn't. Didn't have the. The greatest. Didn't have the greatest race because. Well, I mean you had Verstappen. I don't know if he said much about. But they were talking. There's a lot of stuff online where basically these cars are going slower than like F2 cars basically going around like one of the iconic tracks. [00:30:08] Speaker B: Right? [00:30:09] Speaker C: Yeah. Still something to be desired on the way these regulations are going when it came to this track. But yeah, the drama was on. Was on lap one. And George and Lewis kind of got together in one of the early turns. Flipped George out in the gravel. Ended George's day. Slight damage to Lewis's car. And that kind of screwed him. So that was the biggest thing we're man, like we're. It's. It's tough. We had this conversation last year where we thought like Lando Norris was out of the championship when he blew the engine in Zanderford in the Netherlands right after the break last year. But now you're looking at this thing. George is out, gets no points. Antonelli maxes out, wins, gets 25. Now Antonelli's. What do you got, Aaron? Like a 50 plus point lead in the championship now over. Over Lewis. And so you kind of got this dominance with Antonelli because he basically led the thing end to end. There really wasn't a threat to him. You had a weird penalty against Lewis on that particular play because George said it was a racing incident. Lewis did they give him a penalty. But then you get contact later with LeClaire and Piasta. [00:31:20] Speaker B: I want to ask you, brother Jason, how was that not. How was that not a penalty? [00:31:24] Speaker C: It should have been because especially the wave gave Lewis and so LeClaire probably should have got a penalty on that one. [00:31:29] Speaker B: It looked like LeClaire gave a little Argentina like love tap there to Oscar and just play on. [00:31:34] Speaker C: I don't know what Argentina is. He's from. He's from Monaco. But yeah, regardless. Is there. Are you talking. Are we World cup reference on that? [00:31:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:31:41] Speaker C: Okay, gotcha. But yeah, I. That should have been a penalty if they're giving Lewis one. So that was kind of weird to begin with. But yeah, that was pretty much the drama of the race. Rome. And. And now you. When it gets to the championship, the other part about it is what causes the wreck. And. And George has kind of been a drama queen a little bit about. A little bit car not being right [00:32:04] Speaker A: off on the team in. [00:32:06] Speaker C: In a way. But like the reason because he basically said the accident with Lewis happened because he goes down like the main stress once you go to on Rouge, you're like flat out. And he gets passed by two cars on his stretch by Lewis and I think it was Verstappen or something like that. So he loses all this power and so he keeps complaining week after week about the straight line speed isn't there. And so I mean there's kind of stuff is like he getting sabotaged by Mercedes right now because something's different in his car versus Antonelli because exclusive power. And so you get one of these F1, you know, conspiracy theories going on where I, you know, not to accuse anyone but like, you know, Kimi's been the golden child of Toto Wolf this entire time. Now he's in this prime position and we're giving George. It's seemingly a little bit less than ideal stuff. And we're getting right up against silly season right now. We got one more race and Hungary at the Hagar Ring. [00:33:04] Speaker A: That's a Sunday. [00:33:05] Speaker C: And then we. Yeah, this Sunday. And then we go into the month break and you're going to be talking this entire break basically about contracts for next year. And so what does Mercedes want to do with the second seat? Is there still of appetite for Verstappen? Is there other stuff that's on Toto Wolff's radar? Seemingly he's got the car and now he's got the number one driver with Antonelli. You know, what do you need George Russell for? Is there alternatives? He's trying to do. And so George went from, hey, this is probably going to be his year with the championship. I mean, I've said this a couple times in the store. The show feels like this is the one year for him to win one. He's got the best car and he's got a second year driver in Antonella that shouldn't be competing. But now Antonelli's won all these races and you know, it's just, it's just, I don't know. We're getting palace intrigue inside of Mercedes right now. Total Wolf's no selling this in post race. Like, you know, George, there's nothing wrong with the car. George, you know, be quiet. And I think George feels a little helpless on this design. So, I mean, that's really kind of what the result of the race. I mean, there's other things going down the grid if we go, you know, team by team with different stuff going on. But that's what you miss. Rome, [00:34:16] Speaker A: as you're describing that Miami came out and said it was a mistake, that they posted the introductory press conference, a little social media, Team FUBU or whatever you call it. Baboo. [00:34:27] Speaker B: Okay. [00:34:27] Speaker A: What's the word I'm looking for? Whatever, man. Is that it? I don't know. [00:34:37] Speaker C: I don't, I don't think beyond all recognition. Faux pas. [00:34:41] Speaker A: Faux pas. Maybe that's what I was looking for. I don't know. [00:34:44] Speaker B: Okay. [00:34:45] Speaker A: All right, Aaron. [00:34:48] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, going back, I mean, Jason pretty much summed it up. I mean, yeah, he had the crash there early. Hamilton gets the penalty we talked about LeClaire. I'm not sure why he was not penalized or not even some kind of warning, you know. And then, you know, big talk would be, yeah, what do they do with George Russell? I mean, his engineering team. Everybody can't figure out what's wrong. They're what, 0.2.3, whatever seconds slower on the straights. They, they thought maybe it was not the car, it was the driving driver. They kind of ruled that out this weekend. And then like George, no speed, no power. And then boom, he's in the gravel. Rome, like you mentioned, he basically goes off on the team, like, hey, this is unacceptable. What the hell is going on? I got no power. Then I get up to 35%. I'm just getting passed up. So yeah, maybe somebody over there total with whatever got a little switch under his desk there and hits it. [00:35:45] Speaker A: This feels like a Patriots. I'm gonna do like a weird football analogy. Your true Bledsoe. You know, you got a Super bowl contending team, you break your leg or arm, whatever it was, and all of a sudden this young punk comes in [00:35:58] Speaker B: skinny, but Tom Brady was a nobody. Kimmy was like, you know, supposed to [00:36:03] Speaker A: be special, talented guy, but you know, just six round pick all of a sudden just does really well and keeps the job and ends up winning a chip. And then all of a sudden you're on the outside looking in like that was Drew's one chance to, you know, lead a team the Super Bowl. Himself like hell of a quarterback and he get kind of get screwed. Like if I'm Brussel, man, like you either gotta reset mentally or like he, he must be like mind himself every single night over there. But the, but the driver's chairman is not out. It's not out of reach. It's still there. It's still there. [00:36:31] Speaker C: It's still there. Any, anything can happen in these races. Kimi's had two basically no point finishes that, you know, kind of reset everything back and was closer up until this race right now. [00:36:41] Speaker B: Right. [00:36:41] Speaker C: And so it's still there. It's just, it just these type of things just make it just very thin margins for George if he can't figure out kind of what's wrong in going into some of these different tracks. And. But I think you start looking into next year and I think that's, that's where the conversations are, where he's not locked in. And there's a lot of, basically a lot of teams got open seats and you start shuffling things around. And that kind of puts it where last year we, we had kind of a lock in that both McLaren drivers were locked in. No one was going. So we're choosing between two. Like George is kind of on a one and one. So he's on a contract year. Don't know if it's picked up or renewed and they can replace him. And I think that's where you come. I think the, the Brady Bledsoe is very, I think accurate except for like Aaron said, Kimi's a prodigy. So he wasn't a six round pick. And when F1, like if you are a prodigy, you get kind of the preferential treatment to a degree. Kimi gets that. You look at Arvid Lindbad and the racing bulls right now, we're not talking a ton about that, but like, he's kind of pushing Liam Lawson kind of out of the way. He limb black got the upgrades and Lawson didn't. [00:37:43] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:37:43] Speaker B: Wasn't that, wasn't that something related to how they finished the race previous? I, I think that's what they're principles. [00:37:50] Speaker C: That's what they said. But Lawson, Lawson's been better all year when it comes to qualifying and everything like that. And then. And so he didn't finish better in one race and then didn't get the upgrades is the way they kind of decide stuff. So Lawson's kind of been the fourth child because he's probably, if Verstappen were to say he's the most likely, you know, Red Bull driver to lose his [00:38:08] Speaker A: seat for a guy might go to somebody else like Audi or something like that. [00:38:14] Speaker C: I mean, everyone, there's a ton of people in play right now. I mean, Rob, like the hot seat [00:38:18] Speaker B: number one chairs out there right now. [00:38:20] Speaker C: Esteban Okon's days in F1 are probably numbered like he is, he's, he's getting beat by Ali Bearman. He's, you know, I, you know, doesn't have the reputation as the, the, the team culture guy. He's a, you know, probably a little more like us or he's a little bit squirrelier on the edges, man, when it comes to being in a team thing. And so he's not performing versus like a Bearman, another prodigy. He's a Ferrari prodigy. So, you know, okay, Okon seat goes open. Haas, you've talking Yuki Tsunoda kind of like peeking around that where they go. The alpine seat has turned into one of the most coveted seats, you know, you know, Gasly, I think is signed through, but Kala Pinto's out there. So you got Fernando Alonzo potentially wants to jump into a ship, into a, a drive. You got Carlos signs who's hating Williams right now and potentially wants to get [00:39:08] Speaker A: into the Alpine seat. [00:39:09] Speaker B: What's happened to Williams this year, man? [00:39:11] Speaker C: Oh, man. [00:39:12] Speaker B: I mean, they, they've been bad. [00:39:14] Speaker C: The, the worst thing for Williams was like James V. Who I like, I, I, I, I, I still like him to this day. I think he, you know, he's kind of one of the brains behind the Mercedes rise and everything like that. And I think he had a good plan, but like, his talk was everything about like preparing for the new regulation. So he Gets his team principal a couple years ago and everything was about 26 and they basically have like the third worst car in the grid and it's just, you know, you're not keeping [00:39:40] Speaker B: kind of the drivers 14, 15, 16 plays. I mean they're, they're not even close to competing. [00:39:47] Speaker C: No, no, it's not. We're, you know you felt good on last year with like hey, they were far and away. Hey, they were the, they were the lead of the midfield and now Alpine's the lead of the midfield. The racing bull is actually pretty good with it too. And so Williams just feels so many steps back. So yeah, it's, it's musical chairs. Rome, I think you're waiting. I think the Verstappen domino is. The domino set it off. Yeah, I think where that, where he goes, I think it's two options. It's McLaren and it's Mercedes. Don't know the interest in either one because you're going to be basically displacing either Piastri or Russell likely out of that. And, and how does that figure? [00:40:24] Speaker B: So, but it seems like Verstappen would probably stick it to Russell more right there. Seems like there's a little something always between those two where like ah, you know Russ, just a crybaby. I'm glad Kimmy's kicking his butt. [00:40:35] Speaker A: Blah blah blah. [00:40:37] Speaker C: It's, it's always the thought I, I, I. Mercedes is also like, I'm not gonna say they're cheap because it's Mercedes, but like they didn't want to give Lewis the big money and the stuff that Ferrari was willing to guarantee him. They signed these one in one deals. They don't sign these big long term deals like some of the other teams have kind of done. And so Mercedes, if you're, if you're Toto, you may love Max and you've always wanted to sign him, but do I gotta sign him to 75, $100 million and then I have the net, I have the next prodigy, I have the best car. Do I need to overpay for Max Verstappen and maybe upset what I have with Kimi Antonelli? I think it, I think their thought is like do I just want to have utter domination to have the two best drivers but I'm gonna create drama and potentially handicap my next prodigy or do I know I have the best car and I already have a good driver? I just need a great B driver to my A driver. [00:41:26] Speaker A: I see the likelihood of him going to McLaren because I think him and Norris be a pretty good 1, 2 combo. Either way, they could both compete and win any race. And whereas you have Antonelli now, if he's just all of a sudden having a great breakout year, they're gonna still want somebody great in that two seat. But not to bring Verstappen, that's gonna tear up the whole thing. [00:41:45] Speaker B: Goes. Isn't he the one? A guy. He's not gonna go. He's not gonna go to be Lando, which puppets the pyros. [00:41:53] Speaker C: Well, I mean, I think that. I think it's the same problem. [00:41:55] Speaker B: Higher rules. You don't care about that. [00:41:57] Speaker C: No. And I think that's the problem with the McLaren option too. Because I think Lando Norris is the favorite son of Zach Brown. That's what everyone talks there too. And so whether. Whether true or not, I think this is the perception. But Lando's the guy that came up from McLaren. He rode, you know, he. Lando was with McLaren when they were like last on the grid, like in 2021 or 2022, whenever it was, and kind of went through this. So. And his world champion right now and he has his own marketing. So there's risk bringing Verstappen to either one of those teams. And then. Or is Verstappen just out of the sport? He just says, I'm going to peace out for a couple years. I'm still relatively young. I can come back at it and pick and choose my team where it's at. I mean, I don't think. I think that's a viable option out of the two too. But the musical chairs are going to be starting. You know, really coming out of this, this hungry race. [00:42:43] Speaker A: Colby guy hungry this weekend then. Any predictions real quick before you sign off? [00:42:51] Speaker C: Man, I've been off on the predictions. It's. It's tough to go against Antonelli when you. When you see it right now. And I don't know the upgrades, the other teams, the Ferrari still look pretty racy. I. I don't put it back then. The McLarens found something in this last lace. Lando's upgrade. You know, obviously Aaron said they did one too many upgrades and he had to do the. The 10 point grid penalty on that. But I think you're getting a little more competition. [00:43:14] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:43:15] Speaker C: You got a 10 point girl. I think he had third. [00:43:17] Speaker B: Yeah. Third. [00:43:19] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:43:19] Speaker B: And so started 13th. Yeah. [00:43:21] Speaker C: And so there's a little more competition. I think you could see kind of these jumbled up podiums where you don't have, you know, both Mercedes drivers or both Ferrari Drivers, you know you're gonna get Lando, maybe a piastri, probably a max up there. Like Red Bull's obviously got the powertrain they've deemed the best engine. They switched the wing. [00:43:43] Speaker A: Goes against that to a degree. [00:43:45] Speaker C: I mean, but they switched the macarena wing. So it's not going to try to kill him when he goes into the turn and whatever it was doing in the last thing. So I think Red Bull's got it. He's. Our kajar. Had a great race too. I think he finished. [00:43:58] Speaker B: Underrated driver. Underrated, man. He's having a good season. [00:44:02] Speaker C: He is. And we talked to him about rookie of the year. He's been the last year. But he's. But he's been. I mean, Sergio Perez was up there for that one or year and a half in Red Bull competing with verstappen. But this is the best kind of Red Bull number two driver they've had versus Verstappen since those Perez years there. So, I mean, yeah, I think underrated as well too. So I think you got some interesting stuff. I think predictions, man. It's just. It's tough to go against Kimi. I. I'm gonna say you got a Kimi Lewis Lando podium. [00:44:33] Speaker B: I kind of. I kind of agree. I think Kimmy wins. I think you're gonna get at least one Ferrari. Rather it's Hamilton or leclaire. I mean, leclaire's been racing pretty well. Kind of had. Had some problems. Did he get in trouble for hitting his own team there coming out of the pit? Did you. Did you. What'd you find out? Yeah, I thought I saw something on that. He did. [00:44:53] Speaker A: Yeah. They were investigating it some more, but I'm not sure anything else came out of it. [00:44:57] Speaker B: So I. I think you're gonna get. I mean, I think it's a gimme right now. Of all these races, you're gonna get at least one Mercedes, one Ferrari. The question is, do you get a red Bull or do you get a mclaren? I probably agree. I think. I think Lando probably gets on there too. [00:45:12] Speaker A: Nice. Well, then I'll wrap it up then. [00:45:15] Speaker C: Rome. A little baseball. Just want to make sure we try to update you. We're getting close to the trade deadline. Want to talk about the NL only fantasy league? I'm still in first place. I'm up 19 points over second place now. So we're holding strong even with a lot of injuries. So I just want to let you know Aaron is in a little bit. Bits of a rebuilding mode now with A lot of injuries. [00:45:37] Speaker A: Nice. [00:45:38] Speaker B: I like my team. I got. I got a lot of good players on this team. They just. I got like nine or 10 guys hurt. [00:45:45] Speaker C: And we got some ownership changes. Rome. We got. We got a guy dropping out, so. [00:45:49] Speaker A: Really? [00:45:51] Speaker C: Yeah, he doesn't. [00:45:52] Speaker B: He doesn't want to fork the bill anymore, Rome. That's how this week works. [00:45:55] Speaker A: You gotta by chance, does he make Curry? [00:46:00] Speaker B: No, that guy's already guy. [00:46:01] Speaker A: That guy joking. I'm joking. [00:46:03] Speaker B: That guy never. That guy hasn't seen a bill he wants to pay yet. [00:46:07] Speaker A: That's 100 true. That's 100. Yeah, it's 100 true. All right, I'll do it then. Catch the pod on Apple podcasts. Spotify baseball preview coming up soon. And then it's football season three on the pod. Me and Aaron, Jason, maybe coming out to Vegas for a day or two for Circa Survivor. [00:46:33] Speaker C: Yeah, we'll see. We'll play out day today. We'll see like you on a Sunday night for a pod recording. We'll see. [00:46:40] Speaker B: There won't be no pod recordings there in Vegas. [00:46:43] Speaker A: Yeah, you know, I really wanted to last year, but after we've been to it a couple years, I'm just like, there's no point at doing a pod recording out there unless, like, it's in the hotel room. That's fine. Maybe we can get some. Some degenerate drunk in there. [00:46:53] Speaker B: But there's plenty of those around. Yeah, I bought those around every corner. [00:46:58] Speaker C: I'm pretty sure you tried last year. And Lisa, let's do a pod. And Aaron. Aaron texted me privately. Is like, there's zero chance this guy is going to be able to do a pod tonight. [00:47:07] Speaker A: This guy's an dude. We could breathe that again. There's a real story of like, dude, this guy's a real. We're just gonna leave that in the controversy. [00:47:16] Speaker B: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. [00:47:20] Speaker A: Thanks for bringing it up. Still feeling it. [00:47:25] Speaker B: All right. [00:47:27] Speaker A: I'm actually excited Sniper west gonna be meeting up with us, too. All you can drink. [00:47:35] Speaker B: If he wants to get himself a room, I get. We can give him a pass and get a man. [00:47:40] Speaker A: Nice. All right. [00:47:41] Speaker B: You know, hey, tell Sniper I'll make sure he gets a drink on me, if you catch my drift on that one. [00:47:47] Speaker A: 100. All right, I'll do it. [00:47:50] Speaker B: I'll pick it up for him there at the pool bar. [00:47:53] Speaker A: We're out.
