Episode Transcript
[00:00:02] Speaker A: All right, time for another week of football. It is week four in college football, Week three in the NFL.
And we got lines for you today. So it's just gonna be me and Aaron for this week's pod. Jason is on the road again, so all good stuff. We also have F1 this weekend. That should be pretty fun. From what I was told, it's gonna be at 4 in the morning.
I'm not waking up. I'll be with my daughter.
[00:00:29] Speaker B: Yeah, four AMs that's steep. Wake up call. I think Rome talked about it. You know, record it, wake up typical 5:35,45 and watch it and you know, then jump out of bed about 7:30am and get your Sunday ready.
[00:00:45] Speaker A: That's funny. Maybe I'll do the same thing. It'll be kind of fun.
[00:00:48] Speaker B: I think that's why Jason's on the road. He just, you know, being at the in Chicago, he wanted that, that time zone difference to be accustomed to that typical 6am Wake up for that F1 race.
[00:01:00] Speaker A: Yeah, it would be a little bit palatable to wake up at 6am in Chicago.
He's like our calling coward, huh? Going between Chicago and here.
[00:01:10] Speaker B: There you go, man. All we need is Jay Z's blazing five. Then.
[00:01:14] Speaker A: I do have like a fun tip or like a fun fact about Jason's picks, but we'll do that for the NFL section. But let's kick it off with college football. Aaron has his games of the week. We're recording, by the way, early afternoon Thursday, which is nice. I'll be able to have some time to get this out by Friday morning.
All the new socials out as well.
[00:01:36] Speaker B: Yeah, it's from. It's great to look at the time and see it's 11:54 and it's am not pm. Our typical standard time that we'd be recording.
[00:01:45] Speaker A: I gotta tell you, dude, I'm liking this a lot already.
I feel awake, actually. I look tired. Look at that. I had two cocktails last night. Still trying to recover. Aaron, you gave us your infamous yellow pad. Not too many games this week. Why is that?
[00:02:02] Speaker B: Just keeping it short, keeping it simple. What do we got? We got a game Friday night, then we got eight games for Saturday. So I mean they could, it could have put a couple more games on, but these I think are the, the main games for Saturday.
[00:02:18] Speaker A: Okay, let's kick it off here. You got Iowa and Rutgers. Iowa's favored by two and a half. The over and under 45 and a half.
Real quick though, because you called some upsets Last Friday. I'm not sure if we actually talked about your record from last week in college football, but how are you doing so far?
[00:02:39] Speaker B: Overall, college football picks are 23 wins, 14 losses on the year for that's the games of the week, games to watch. So that comes out to get my handy dandy calculator over here.
[00:02:54] Speaker A: Right, because you always pick a side on those things, right?
[00:02:56] Speaker B: Yeah. So six. 62%. 62%.
[00:02:59] Speaker A: That's not bad, dude.
[00:03:01] Speaker B: That's all against. That's all against the spread against the number here in college football.
[00:03:05] Speaker A: Right.
[00:03:05] Speaker B: If only Westgate was as good as that. But that's, you know, a little, little tighter games with seven there here we're giving you typically 10 to 12 plays for the week.
[00:03:18] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's pretty awesome, man. I feel like you picked a lot more games than that.
[00:03:22] Speaker B: I do.
[00:03:22] Speaker A: I.
[00:03:23] Speaker B: Well, I do have some picks of games that aren't. Didn't necessarily make the list that I do like, so I'll give those out as well.
[00:03:30] Speaker A: All right, cool.
All right, well, take it away, man. Tell us about Friday.
[00:03:35] Speaker B: Friday night we got the Big 10 showdown. Iowa versus Rutgers. Rutgers is a two and a half point home underdog. Against Iowa. I was, you know, we saw them against Iowa State a couple weeks ago. Offense not very good. Defensively, pretty good team. I'm going with Rutgers here in the upset. I like Rutgers at home to get this one. This is a big game for them. Friday night showcase game, Big Ten standalone.
I like Rutgers to cover two and a half and the win outright against Iowa.
[00:04:07] Speaker A: Wow. Okay. I dig it.
How many players do they have from last year? Remember Rutgers kind of went like on a. On a little run last year. I was kind of up on them and then they kind of tailored off at the end.
[00:04:19] Speaker B: Rutgers is.
[00:04:23] Speaker A: Somebody that was like really good.
[00:04:25] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean they've had. They've had a few good.
A few decent teams here. I mean, they've kind of a middle of the pack, Big Ten team there.
What's it called? Greg Shiano's back there coaching again, trying to get back. Trying to get back to the glory days. And when they had the running back Rice there, that was kind of the infamous days of Rutgers.
He then left there and took the.
I forget where he went to go coach from there, but didn't he go to the NFL?
[00:04:56] Speaker A: I feel like he did.
[00:04:59] Speaker B: I'm drawing a blank. He went somewhere, then he went to Ohio State, was defensive coordinator for Urban Meyer, I believe there for a little bit, and then ended up getting A job and now he's back at records I don't have. Don't feel like googling it right now. Jason was our kind of a stat lookup guy so he's not here for that.
[00:05:17] Speaker A: But usually I'm like down to do it too, but I'm feeling really lazy right now.
[00:05:22] Speaker B: Yeah. So. Yeah. So we'll see. We'll see. I do like it. Like I said, I do like Rutgers here Friday night to get the win here at home.
[00:05:30] Speaker A: Nice. I dig it.
Awesome. Take it away on Saturday.
[00:05:34] Speaker B: So Saturday we got some, we got some action packed games. We're going to start with SMU plus 7 against TCU. TCU probably you remember them. Rome a couple weeks back, Labor Day. Whipping up on Bill Belichick and North Carolina coming into this game undefeated. Smu. High hopes coming into the year. Maybe a potential playoff team after last year making the playoff.
Tough loss a couple weeks back at home and overtime to Baylor. But I like SMU here getting seven points. It played a tougher schedule. I think they're battle tested. I think they can keep this game close. I'll take SMU to cover the seven points against tcu. We've then got Miami, Florida. I mean Florida's, you know, everything that's wrong with him has been documented over the last two weeks. We talked about Sunday, a couple of college coaches getting fired. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Miami wins and they win big. And Billy Napier is, gets fired over the weekend from Florida. I believe he's the next big domino coach to get canned. I just don't see Florida being able to hang with Miami. They had five turnovers against lsu.
The team to me looks in disarray. Maybe they have some fight left on their coach. Maybe they're done with them. We're going to find out on Saturday if they got anything left. But I think they get beat bad. I like Miami. That's one of my plays of the week. And I think Billy Napier, when we go back on the air either Sunday or sometime early next week will be canned and we'll be out of a job at Florida.
[00:06:56] Speaker A: Is it that bad?
It's that bad down there.
[00:07:00] Speaker B: He's, he's always on the hot seat, Rome. And given where they're at right now, this would be three straight losses. I mean their schedule, what was it? Five straight top 25 matchups. They got, they got Texas coming up.
They got Texas coming up. I think Oklahoma might even be mixed in there. Remember they had that disappointing loss against South Florida. That was not supposed to happen.
Hung tough of lsu, but five turnovers. Billy Napier is your offensive coordinator and the offense looks like garbage.
It's a bad look. I, I think he, like I said, he's the third domino of head coaches in power conferences that get canned and it's. I think Miami puts a nail in his coffin on Saturday.
[00:07:38] Speaker A: That's crazy. So they just blow them out over.
[00:07:44] Speaker B: I, I like, I like Miami to win by double digits.
[00:07:48] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:07:48] Speaker B: I mean given what Miami's. I mean Miami was a 17 point favorite against what, South Florida last week. They won that game 49:17. We know South Florida just beat Florida. Florida's got a good defense, don't get me wrong. But they can't score. And against Miami to win this game, I think they're gonna have to manage 31 points. I just don't see them doing that against the Hurricanes defense.
[00:08:08] Speaker A: Yeah, Miami's looking really good, dude, especially with Beck.
[00:08:12] Speaker B: Miami's looking better than I thought. I, I mean and that's given, given the crash course they in Florida State look there like they're on in two weeks. That, that could be a huge, huge game in Tallahassee. Florida.
[00:08:26] Speaker A: I agree.
Okay, you got Illinois, Indiana next really surprising line.
[00:08:32] Speaker B: I mean Illinois is a top 10 team. Indiana hasn't really played anybody looked good last week. Finally the first time somebody out. But Illinois is getting six points here. Rome, we both saw them against Duke. They looked pretty good.
I'm going to take Illinois plus six.
I'm not sure they're going to win this game. Indiana, you know, obviously the programs turn the corner making the playoff last year and they got the transfer quarterback in from California that played really well.
It's going to be tough, but I'll take Illinois plus six. That's, that's a lot of disrespect on this line. Maybe Illinois has some players out that I haven't heard about. I know they got a couple wide receivers banged up, so does Indiana. But I think the side here is Illinois plus six on the road. Gonna be tough, but I'll take the six points. And then we've got Texas Tech, Utah. This is an early, early kickoff, 9am West Coast Time in Utah.
So hopefully the, you know, they get the rest because you got to be up on the field working out by 6am Jason's already released this as one of his plays of the week. Going with Utah minus 3. I agree. I like Utah minus 3. Texas Tech has been beating up on some bad.
A lot of blowouts. Utah hard for me to say they played anybody good given what we've seen from ucla.
[00:09:45] Speaker A: Oh, man.
You say it's been taking a beating. A lot of losses on, on. On socials this week.
[00:09:52] Speaker B: They've been taking a beating and you know, they can't. Utah's coming off a win against Wyoming, but Utah's got a great defense. I think they'll scheme this game up right. Texas Tech I don't think is ready for a program maybe to take that next leap. We kind of have them as a sleeper team, but I think these might be the two best teams in the Big 12.
[00:10:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:11] Speaker B: And they're meeting this early in the year. I'll take Utah at home to get the job. Give me Utah minus three.
[00:10:17] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:10:18] Speaker B: Next game we got Auburn, Oklahoma.
You know, interesting game here. Auburn's quarterback was Oklahoma's quarterback last year. He's transferred over. Now he goes back to Norman. Oklahoma. Oklahoma won this game last year in Auburn of no quarterback. Now they have a first round quarterback. Their offense to me is too much. I'm not really impressed by Auburn's defense. They didn't look good against South Alabama last week. Gave a ton of points against Baylor. I like Oklahoma here and I like Oklahoma big. Give me the Sooners minus six and a half. I, I'll. I'll take the over two.
I think the Oklahoma themselves can get 31, 38 points. I'll go this game's 38, 21. Oklahoma wins it.
[00:11:01] Speaker A: Yeah, I think we talked a lot about Oklahoma's quarterback a couple pods ago. They look really good. I don't know if we had them. Like, I don't think we were really up on them when the season started. Kind of caused by a surprise.
[00:11:15] Speaker B: Well, I mean, yeah, I mean Oklahoma's really struggled under Brent Venables. They have not been what they were expecting when they got him. I mean, he is a defensive coach. He's gotten that side of the ball right. But he brought in the transfer quarterback from Washington State and the offensive coordinator to go along. The offense seems to be humming. They had that nice win against Michigan a few weeks back where the defense played well. The offense did enough. To me, Michigan's better than Auburn and the line is about the same as that game was.
I like Oklahoma here to route. I like them to route Auburn here at home.
[00:11:49] Speaker A: Yeah, that game against Michigan, man, I thought that was like the worst showing. It was just like bad play calling to that game. I think they caught Michigan at the right time. I think Michigan wins that game what, seven times out of ten, maybe I'm biased, but Oklahoma really impressed me with that one because the defense was just. Michigan still has a solid defense.
[00:12:08] Speaker B: Definitely the right time to get him. I mean, you got a freshman quarterback making this, what, second career start?
[00:12:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: First on the road.
He didn't play well. I think you'll continue to see him grow. I mean, he's got a big game. As we move down the list, we'll get into it. But Oklahoma.
Yeah, I'll let you touch on that one, Room. But yeah, Oklahoma's look good defensively. They've, you know, Brent Venables has always been a defensive coach.
Part of the reason why Clemson continues to go downhill. He was there as defensive coordinator and left to take this job at Oklahoma after Lincoln Riley went to usc.
I like everything about Oklahoma. They win this game that sets up for that big, you know, Red river shootout with Texas.
And that, that game looks more intriguing too, as we get down the calendar in the college football season.
[00:12:54] Speaker A: Nice.
Cool, man. Next game, Tulane.
[00:12:59] Speaker B: Jason's group of five team to make the playoff against yours, Mississippi, Ole miss. Lane Kiffin.
11points is a lot here. I've actually seen it on some, even on the Westgate college line. It's up to 12 and a half. This is a lot of points delay.
[00:13:14] Speaker A: I, I, yeah, yeah, I did see it those 12 and a half yesterday, I think.
[00:13:17] Speaker B: Yeah. So when I wrote this, at the time it was 11. It's up to 12 and a half.
I mean, I like Tulane.
I like Mississippi too. I mean, I wasn't really overly impressed with Mississippi's defense against Arkansas. I think Arkansas and Tulane are very similar teams.
I'm, I'm gonna go with the 11 points here in Tulane. Not real confident in it, but I'm not really sure what I'm going to get from Mississippi. Is the defense going to step up? Who's playing quarterback for them? The youngster looked good.
Two lanes got the transfer in from byu. He's been running the ball real well. Four touchdowns last week. Tough game here for Mississipp. These two teams battled it out last year. It was a tough game. I'll take two. Lane getting the 11 points to cover in Oxford against Mississippi.
[00:14:04] Speaker A: Ole Miss. Silver get gets a W here.
[00:14:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I see Ole Miss getting the win, but, you know, maybe this is one of those games where they slip up. They always have one or two games. Realm, like you mentioned, they always kind of lose. Last year it was Kentucky, Tulane.
Tulane's tough. I mean, they, they are, they're potential. Like I said, Group of 5 playoff team. If they keep this game close, run the table, they're likely in the playoff. This is a big game, a playoff implication game for both teams. Even though it's a non conference showdown.
[00:14:34] Speaker A: Ole Miss has been really weird, man. So like they blow out Georgia State, they barely get by Kentucky. It was an ugly game and it was like another slip up. And then so we talked about it like, you know, yeah, they're playing Arkansas. They barely scraped away with another W there. And I took them on the points and like last week we were saying like, let's not put Ole Miss to, to cover any more spreads. And then here you go, you got Tulane coming up. Like Tulane's like pretty solid. Does Ole Miss just like wake up all of a sudden, just have like a blowout game and it screws it up. I'm tempted to, to use this as one of my picks for the college football contest with the Tolane with the points. I really like that.
[00:15:10] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I think Tulane is 3, 0 against the spread, at least 2. And oh, I had him last week in my own personal Westgate. They covered against Duke.
Mississippi I don't believe has covered any game against the spread, maybe the opener. But like you mentioned Rome, they did not cover their last two games.
This number skyrocketing, we'll see where the close is at. But yeah, I mean it's up to 12 and a half some places.
I just don't think Mississippi's really that good defensively. They haven't shown it to me yet. I mean, Arkansas, let's be honest, was just moving the ball up and down the field and could have scored more points. That game was what, 28, 24 I think at the half and ended up 38, 31 kind of slowed down, but unless Mississippi can get some turnovers, which the BYU transfer has been known to. But he's a good runner of the ball too. And Mississippi did not stop Arkansas running the ball. Interesting game. I just think 11 points is a lot here. And Tulane, they're talented. They're not, they're not a bad team. So we'll see. I'll. I'll take the points and take the chance of Tulane.
[00:16:10] Speaker A: Yeah, I think I had Ole Miss in the championship, right?
Preseason.
[00:16:17] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I think Ole Miss is still a potential playoff team. Yeah, they are still definitely potential playoff team.
[00:16:22] Speaker A: Not feeling good about it.
Crazy going back to Illinois, man, you got the ninth ranked team just not getting a lot of respect against the number 19th ranked team.
[00:16:33] Speaker B: The line's interesting, man. I mean Illinois what two weeks ago went on the road one at Duke. Duke's not obviously looked that great, but Duke's gotten beat by Illinois in two lane the last two weeks. Who are both better than them.
It's. Yeah, it's hard for me to imagine in why Indiana is a six point favorite. That's. That is a lot of points.
I mean it really, it really is a lot of points. I mean I think the line originally was like three and a half, four.
Like I said, I'm not sure internally there's some injuries at Illinois. I haven't really read up or heard much. Maybe that has a lot to do with this number moving the way it is, but we'll see.
Right now I'm signing of Illinois plus six.
[00:17:15] Speaker A: Nice.
All right, what's the next game we got?
[00:17:20] Speaker B: Arizona State two and a half point dog at Baylor.
Big matchup here in the Big 12. Big, big game here. Arizona State, Baylor, both undefeated in conference. I do believe Arizona State's only loss was at Mississippi State. Baylor lost against Auburn to start the year playing pretty well since then I've been back and forth on this game. I'm not really sure how good Arizona State is. I mean last year they made the playoff obviously even though they were voted to finish last in the Big 12 coming off a 3 and 9 campaign.
[00:17:55] Speaker A: You did call that upset a couple weeks ago too.
[00:17:58] Speaker B: Yeah, I did. I did like that there. I think Arizona State, I think Arizona State, Baylor. This game goes on the. I'm leaning towards the over.
I mean Baylor could score points. I mean I did see one on the. Arizona State's wide receivers is going to be out. So that's interesting part of the game, man. I mean two and a half's a weird number.
I'm leaning towards Baylor 2 1/2 in this game. I'll take the home team. Arizona State gotta show me they can win a road game this year. Haven't done it yet. The only big road game they had was at Mississippi State.
This game could go either way, but I'm leaning towards Baylor. So I'll take Baylor -2 and a half at home.
[00:18:36] Speaker A: Okay.
Not sure how I feel about that one.
[00:18:39] Speaker B: I'm. I'm not really sold. Sold on it. But you know, I like there's an estate.
[00:18:44] Speaker A: I just like, like the main guy that they're missing is Scatter Boot. They brought a lot of players back, but something's missing from them this year. They just don't look like they got like that, like that fight in them.
They're looking like Canelo right now.
[00:18:59] Speaker B: Interesting. It's a good take.
And then the game of the week.
Rome, Michigan, Nebraska. I know it's. I know it's your two teams.
Michigan's a two and a half point favorite here.
Nebraska hasn't, hasn't had a meaningful program win in basically 10 years.
This is their chance to get it.
I'll let you pick a side first before I give a side, but who do you got in this one?
[00:19:27] Speaker A: It's kind of tough, you know. Let's see. You got two undefeated. Oh no, not two undefeated teams. Nebraska's undefeated so far.
[00:19:33] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:19:34] Speaker A: But the close one against Cincinnati. Too close to call, really. Won by three points.
They beat the shit out of Akron, 68 to nothing. Offense was lit.
They beat HCU 59 to 7.
Another beat down.
Offense is rolling with the Patrick Mahomes Jr. And I think the tight end too is dressing like Kelsey. It's a really weird stuff going down in Nebraska if you guys have never been to Lincoln though. It's a really beautiful town. It's a cool place to live. So I can see why Warren Buffet would live like in Omaha down the street.
It's a cool spot in the Midwest.
But now they got a real test here with Michigan. Michigan's still loaded with first round talent on the defensive side of the ball.
I like their quarterback.
Young kid. Was he 18 years old? Barely.
And he looks like a truck dude. I think we were talking about like he has an army. He has legs, he has size. He's just trucking over people five years older than him. It's pretty impressive.
This is the second game with Michigan, right?
[00:20:47] Speaker B: With that, that way with more suspended. Yes.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, more. Yeah. And I don't know if you've seen who's their coach right now.
Big rah rah guy. This guy makes his own crop tops. Big 300 pound plus guy, you know, like, like kind of like Belichick vibes. But he gets his guy rolling up. Here it is in Nebraska. Hell of an atmosphere. We got to go to a game still, man. We got to go.
[00:21:16] Speaker B: Love to go to Lincoln. I would love to go to Lincoln.
[00:21:19] Speaker A: The ex in laws, that's where they live. But I'm friends with the ex's exes. You know the other guy that got screwed in the divorce, he's still a cool guy. That's the place to go to tailgate. Jesus.
Coffee's not hitting it.
[00:21:34] Speaker B: That is the place this weekend. It's. It's a huge game in Lincoln. Like I said, the biggest game in 10 years for this program, dude.
[00:21:43] Speaker A: I just don't know how good Nebraska is. They've beaten nobody.
I think Michigan puts it on them.
What's the spread here?
[00:21:54] Speaker B: Two and a half. Michigan's favorite by two and a half over under 46.
[00:21:57] Speaker A: Yeah, that's close, dude. Why so close?
That's a pick them, that's a cultural pick.
[00:22:03] Speaker B: Look at Nebraska. Like you mentioned, Rome got that Mahomes, Kelsey kind of vibes going between their guys. Matt Rule, he's, he's helped turn that program around.
[00:22:14] Speaker A: Two, three.
[00:22:15] Speaker B: This is year, year three for him.
Matt Rule, traditionally year three, major, major turnaround. Nebraska is looking at, you know, eight, nine wins possibly this year.
This would be a huge, this would be a huge win for them. They've been looking for one, searching for one. You're gonna have 80,000 screaming corn husker fans.
Michigan coming in already had a big road test against Oklahoma. So I think they, you know, they'll be ready for the atmosphere.
It's a lot on the line here, but you're, you're rolling with Michigan.
[00:22:52] Speaker A: Sounds like I, I think Michigan gets a W. If Nebraska wins it, I'll be pretty happy. You know, if push comes shove, I'm rooting for Nebraska, like that's who, that's what I'm ultimately rooting for. But I just don't know if they can get it done.
[00:23:06] Speaker B: I'm going to agree with you, Rome. I like Michigan here. I like Michigan.
I like, I just, I think they have the better players, the better athletes and I think they're just going to, you know, in the end they're going to wear Nebraska down.
Nebraska, like you mentioned, Rome has not played anybody really of substance this year. Struggled against Cincinnati in the opener.
[00:23:29] Speaker A: Michigan played and that was week one.
[00:23:31] Speaker B: So yeah, Michigan played against New Mexico who now doesn't look that bad after they just got your boy desean Foster and UCLA canned.
You know, Oklahoma, few mistakes here and there, but they were young. I think that game against Oklahoma gets them prepped and ready for this one and gets them over the top.
I like Michigan in this one. I'll say 26, 20 Michigan wins.
[00:23:53] Speaker A: Has to be a dog fight.
Let's see who does Nebraska play throughout the year after this. Dude, it's actually like they're all winnable games. Michigan State, Maryland, Minnesota.
That could be like a potential slip up in Minnesota, Northwestern, USC November 1st. But that's in Nebraska.
[00:24:13] Speaker B: That'll be a good.
[00:24:14] Speaker A: Another test. Yeah, I would love to go that game. I'll be like a nice Birthday present. They. Oh, they come and see UCLA November 8th.
May I just stay down there and catch.
[00:24:26] Speaker B: You don't even need to pay for a ticket. They just let you in.
[00:24:28] Speaker A: Then Penn State's tough and then Iowa. It's a tough schedule actually towards the end.
That's good.
[00:24:36] Speaker B: I mean, this is a big game for Nebraska. I mean they can win and it goes a long ways. But you know, I think based off that schedule, what you said, I think this could be an eight win team, so. And for Michigan, I mean if you still want to be on the outside looking in for a possible potential playoff, you got to win this one. I mean, yeah, you lost to Oklahoma, but that's, that's not a bad loss.
[00:24:57] Speaker A: It's not a bad loss.
[00:24:58] Speaker B: No. Lose a couple games here in conference would definitely hurt their playoff chances. I don't really think Michigan's really a playoff team this year, but we'll see. I do like them here on the road.
[00:25:09] Speaker A: Yeah, I thought they were, but this could be like a little transition year. A lot of people are not a fan of, of their head coach right now. Lots of clamor going around in Michigan that he was not the right guy to hire more.
[00:25:23] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm not really sold on more. I mean, I don't think he was a great offensive coordinator or really. I don't think they're really creative on offense to begin with.
[00:25:33] Speaker A: That's the problem. Yeah, you know, they just look terrible against Oklahoma especially.
[00:25:38] Speaker B: I mean they've built the culture on defense and physicality.
But Harbaugh basically did. I mean that's, that's Harbaugh's M.O.
and then they got, you know, they finally got a decent quarterback and J.J. mcCarthy and won, you know, won the natty but made it to the playoff three times in a row. I'm not really sold on Sharon Moore. I agree.
We'll see. We'll see what how the leash looks for him. But he's been there through the, the times of winning championships now and he's been through this little scandal kind of helping them transition through that.
So it's really, really just a money buyout for them on that.
We'll see. We'll see. I, I agree. Rome. I don't think, I don't think he is the guy but let's give him a fair shake. He did, he did win all those games that horrible was suspended against tough opponents. So Ohio State, Penn State, etc now can he do without Harbaugh on the staff?
We'll see.
[00:26:34] Speaker A: Thanks for the games of the week. Man, this is gonna nine games. We have plenty of space to fit that in, so check it out on Instagram, Twitter, wherever. Also on Facebook too. We'll feature games of the week and update your record. Man. 23 and 14. Pretty solid.
[00:26:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
And then a game that didn't make the list, probably should have. But you know, if you're up on the east west coast, you got USC, Michigan State. That's an 8pm kickoff.
Michigan State's getting 18 points. I like them to cover in the late night. The old Big Ten after dark. Now it's no longer Pac 12, Big Ten after dark, late, late showing game there. So for you degenerates that want to stay up and watch that one, take Michigan State plus 18 at the Coliseum.
[00:27:21] Speaker A: I don't know how good UCLA or USC is yet. You know, this would be a good match.
[00:27:26] Speaker B: I think they're solid, but definitely not, not 18 points better than Michigan State. I think it's about a 10 or 12 point win here.
[00:27:34] Speaker A: Fair.
Cool. We'll take a quick break and then we'll do some lines with the boys.
Week three in the NFL. Is it week three? Yeah, three in the NFL. All right.
Don't go anywhere.
All right. Week three NFL lines. It's just me and Aaron this week. Jason's on the road and so we'll, we'll, we'll get his picks later on. I'm like playing like the NFL, like Madden 96 music in the background.
[00:28:09] Speaker B: Those are good days, man. Those are the good days.
Madden Football, NBA Live, NHL Live. 96, 98.
[00:28:17] Speaker A: Maybe I'll see if I can like get like a cheap, you know, permission to like play that music for us. That'd be kind of cool.
[00:28:22] Speaker B: That'd be nice.
[00:28:23] Speaker A: Good old days. Yeah.
[00:28:24] Speaker B: I'd be curious to see what Jason likes this week in some games because I mean talking to him, I would love to get his take on the Cowboys and Bears. Obviously he's going to be at that game, but based off of a conversations we had him with him Sunday, Rome it was, he'd already given up on the season, so.
[00:28:41] Speaker A: Yeah. And it's a pick. I'm dude, a minus one line.
[00:28:45] Speaker B: Wow. Yeah. So I'm really, I'm really curious to see who he likes in this game. I, I, I got a good idea. I think, you know, he kind of slept off that Sunday and you know, it's probably feeling rejuvenated being back in town.
Obviously he's excited about hockey since he was bringing that up. Had the Blackhawk stuff going On. Yeah. White Sox. Nothing to be excited about.
Bulls that they're not even worth mentioning under your breath, to tell you the truth.
[00:29:13] Speaker A: So maybe can they just sign Giddy to a new contract?
[00:29:16] Speaker B: Yeah. And I'm not. I'm not getting. I'm not giddy about it. Let's put it that way.
[00:29:19] Speaker A: It's not a good contract, dude.
[00:29:21] Speaker B: I don't like it.
[00:29:22] Speaker A: All right. So. Interesting fact, dude. So I've had some people reach out to me about Jason pairing Kayla Williams to Daniels on the Commanders and people were kind of like shocked that he would even say like they're in like in the same stratosphere. So he ruffled some feathers and people messaged on the socials and text so pretty to.
[00:29:46] Speaker B: To the Our account or to Jason's self Account.
[00:29:51] Speaker A: To our account.
[00:29:52] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:29:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:53] Speaker B: So we got to give Jason a chance to explain himself. I guess next time he's on.
[00:29:57] Speaker A: Most definitely. And interesting enough, man.
Last week, so me and you tied 7 and 8 against the spread. So we're doing a against the spread contest this year.
And me and you got seven and eight. I. I ended the week with three straight losses. Not really good.
Jason was six and nine, which is what I got in week one. Not a good week. But in the morning games, Jason lost six of eight games.
[00:30:27] Speaker B: Yeah, the morning games weren't great for everybody. I think I was three and five in the morning games.
[00:30:32] Speaker A: Yeah, you had.
You had five straight losses in that one. That was pretty impressive. I was kind of like a mix. It went back and forth.
But he responded in the afternoon games because he basically won four games straight heading into the weekend. Otherwise he would have been looking at a 2N13 weekend.
[00:30:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
That is against the spread. I mean, against the spread. These. These aren't just straight up picks. I mean.
[00:31:01] Speaker A: No.
[00:31:02] Speaker B: So some people will look at the record and say it's not great. We're picking games regardless if we would personally play them or not. We're just.
[00:31:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:31:10] Speaker B: Being honest with the audience and giving them a side. Giving them a play. That's what they wanted. That's what the request. That's. We're going to give them. We don't shy away from it. Obviously we won't. We'll can give a pick in the Dolphins Bills, but we won't count that on the record since we typically record after Thursday night games.
[00:31:25] Speaker A: But we'll give it because the games don't count.
[00:31:27] Speaker B: So we won't count it.
[00:31:28] Speaker A: So I'll do what I usually do. Let's do it, man. So we're going off the circle Millions. Aaron is a contestant with several entries in there.
We were there opening, contesting, kickoff, whatever you want to say it. Pretty cool stuff. Met some pretty cool people. Someone just followed us that we met on Radio Row. They just follow the podcast.
[00:31:47] Speaker B: Which one is that one?
[00:31:49] Speaker A: They do the podcast just strictly about the surviving contest.
[00:31:53] Speaker B: Is that the last minute Survivor?
[00:31:55] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:31:56] Speaker B: Right on, right on.
[00:31:57] Speaker A: Last man pod. Yeah, they just followed us. So we'll have to try to link up with him at some point.
Let's get underway though. So we do have a game tonight. This will air Friday, the day after.
So we won't go too much of it. But Dolphins, Bills, Bill's getting a lot of points. This is desperation times. I noticed from week one that not McCarthy but McDaniels. He's looking a little beat up, dude. He just looks like perplexed and just like exhausted and he looks like his wife's about to leave him. Like it's not good vibes over there.
[00:32:33] Speaker B: You know, ever since Al Michaels is funny talking about his wife brought up that story that basically he went on the dance floor and said, hey dude, get lost. I'm taking her. You know, ever since that story broke loose, it's. It's been all downhill for the Miami Dolphins. It really has bad.
[00:32:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
Do you like the like that's a big spread, man. Like you gotta imagine Dolphins, they know the Bills quite, you know, very well. It's not going to be cold though. So that. That's in their favor. But it is in Buffalo and I don't know.
[00:33:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean 11 and a half points is a lot for any game, especially divisional game.
You know, Jaden Lynn Waddles questionable the shoulder if he doesn't play. That really takes away a lot from the passing game.
But like you mentioned Rome, I mean, Coach McDaniels looks shot. This team looks like they have quit. I've even heard rumors on listening to other shows that if Miami gets blown out, does he get canned this weekend? Because it's kind of like a mini buy with the bye week.
Oh, you know, I know you. I know you haven't released your top five hot seat coaches. Obviously I would think he's number one because that seat has got to be burning.
[00:33:42] Speaker A: He's on there.
[00:33:44] Speaker B: It could be interesting because I mentioned on the college pod that Florida's coach Billy Napier is going to get canned. It could be two coaches in Florida basically jumping on the gone fishing TNT broadcast we always to have and hit getting out of town.
I would go with Buffalo minus eleven and a half. I mean it's a lot of points.
Personally I would not bet this game but if I was picking a side I would guess go of the Bills. I haven't seen anything from Miami that shows otherwise. I mean they did keep it, you know, discourse some points against the Patriots, but they got beat what 338 against the Colts. I think Buffalo and the Colts are kind of similar rosters built constructive wise. Obviously Allen's better than Danny Dimes, but I, I would lean towards buffalo here covering 11 and a half.
[00:34:33] Speaker A: Wow.
I would actually be taking the Dolphins with the points. Actually. I think that's, I think you could.
[00:34:40] Speaker B: Go either way on this one. Luckily, luckily for us doesn't count for the record so it doesn't count.
[00:34:44] Speaker A: So move on.
[00:34:45] Speaker B: I didn't do a lot of studying on the game but I do have as one of my survivor entries, I do have Buffalo tonight.
[00:34:51] Speaker A: So nice.
[00:34:52] Speaker B: I am rooting for them to win.
[00:34:54] Speaker A: Oh you do? Okay.
[00:34:55] Speaker B: I have two entries available of my own too. They're both still alive but one, this one this week is on Buffalo tonight.
[00:35:02] Speaker A: Wow. Okay.
[00:35:04] Speaker B: I imagine a lot of people are going to be on Buffalo tonight.
[00:35:07] Speaker A: I, I, I hope they win. I was gonna say maybe Dolphins upset but I gotta believe that Josh Allen they're going to wake up. Last week was a different kind of game from them last week.
[00:35:19] Speaker B: Well, Buffalo sin pretty Rome. They've got Miami, the Saints and New England all at home with a chance to go 50 to start this season. You really with this three home game stretch with that big win over Baltimore to start the season on Sunday night.
Can't afford to blow it can't afford to blow. Going five and oh going into Atlanta week six with a buy after that team could easily be six and L5 and one going into a buy.
These are all big games and you basically bury Miami 03 in the division.
I, I think Buffalo shows up and balls out. I mean they've ever since Joe Brady took over his offensive coordinator, that offensive Josh Allen. I thought I heard another interesting he's no longer quote unquote the gunslinger. He's actually making reads, making great plays and smart decisions. That's something you talked about years past. Buffalo kind of lacked. He would kind of just try to do too much and throw a game away.
I see Buffalo winning pretty convincingly. Whether or not they cover, I don't know. But I just need a win here.
[00:36:16] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm pretty close to saying like Josh Allen might be the best quarterback I've seen play in my lifetime.
He needs to win a Super bowl, but that's how good he is.
[00:36:27] Speaker B: He's the best quarterback in the NFL right now. I don't think there's any doubt about that. I mean Mahomes has got the three rings. I know he keeps beating him in AFC games. But football, like any team sport, is a team game is offense, defense, special teams. But the stuff Josh Allen can do is pretty brilliant. I mean he's single handedly came back and helped them win that game. In the opener against Baltimore against another MVP caliber quarterback.
[00:36:54] Speaker A: All right, let's kick it off, man. On Sunday morning, the 21st, week three in the NFL, we got Colts four point favorites against the Titans.
Who do you got?
[00:37:08] Speaker B: I'm going Danny Dimes and the Colts here. I mean this is their first road game, but Tennessee's still work in progress. Terrible coaching staff.
I like Cam Ward, he's made some nice plays you saw in the highlights against the Rams. But the Colts got a good defense, they got a good run game, they're well coached. The spread has been going up. Worried about it being their first, you know, road game. But it's a divisional game. I think they're be ready. I'll take the Colts here, -4.
[00:37:35] Speaker A: Nice.
I, I, I kind of agree with you, but I do like what I'm seeing with the Titans. A lot of talent. I don't think they have the right coach. He's on the hot seat for me and I, I think they're starting to realize that too. Like, just like the schematics, the play calling is just all wrong. But now they got, I, I'm a big Ward guy. I wasn't. You were the Ward guy with Miami. You call that even though the refs helped him win a few games. But he's the real deal, man. You just hear all the stories about him. He's the real deal. Puts his head down, gets to work. He's not all flashy and I, I, from what I've been hearing, he got his Titans team 100% behind it, which is good. They'll lose a lot of games, so he'll need that. But they like where it's going. But yeah, I agree with you. So are you taking the points? Might as well.
[00:38:23] Speaker B: I'll take Colts -4 Colts. I'll take the home team or the road team here to cover.
And you're taking the Colts as well?
[00:38:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:38:30] Speaker B: All right. I'm marking it down here. I'm, I'm filling in for Jason and marking I've got it right here, man. I'm just pinning the initials by the team. So I got an R for Rome next to the Colts here. But yeah, Rome, I, I agree 100 with you said I like Cam Ward, but the coaching staff's terrible. You get them a competent head coaching staff with some more high draft picks that they're going to get. Once they finish probably at 4 and 13 on the year, they'll be an up and coming team for sure.
[00:38:57] Speaker A: It'll be a good job to take. It'll be a good job to take.
[00:39:00] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:39:00] Speaker A: I think I, I think it is too.
[00:39:02] Speaker B: Plus you got that new stadium coming in 20, 27.
A lot to like there. A lot to like.
[00:39:09] Speaker A: Nice.
By the way, the Colts new owner Jim Ursay's daughter on the sidelines of the headphones.
I think we're, I think she's gonna be more successful than her father. Like it seems like she's gonna be hands on and I hope, I think, I hope they're on the up.
[00:39:29] Speaker B: I hope we've seen a lot of ownership groups, you know, once, you know, the father figure kind of passes away, they kind of after three, five years sell it. I mean, I guess the prime example of not having that was the Lakers and Genie Buzz. But I hope, you know, I, I like when kind of stays in the family and everybody gets along and the organization continues to grow. So let's hope that's the truth there.
[00:39:51] Speaker A: Nice.
We got Falcons at the Panthers.
Falcons five and a half point favorites over under 44.
This is kind of tricky, man. Panthers kind of woke up in the fourth quarter in the last game.
Stat padding. They dominated Arizona in every facet, at least stat wise in the game. Although it didn't look like that for three quarters, which is really fascinating.
Do you think Panthers wake up for this one?
[00:40:16] Speaker B: I don't. I mean they're, they're going to be out two internal offensive linemen starting center and starting guard. You mentioned, you mentioned Rome. They look terrible for 3/4 against the Cardinals. They look terrible for 4/4 a week before against Jacksonville.
Atlanta was one of the more impressive teams. I watched last week. Just that team speed on offensive defense.
Wow. They got after JJ knocked him back out on the sidelines for a couple weeks.
The number's been going up. I've seen it six some places jumped from about three and a half four to five and a half now I think the Falcons are looking for a big game offensively. They played against two talented defenses in Tampa and against Minnesota. This is a Weak Carolina team.
Big game for Atlanta. I like the Falcons here to cover and get a big win.
[00:41:03] Speaker A: Nice.
I, I, the Panthers like already kind of let me down on you know, back to back weeks here. I think they're, they're going to upset and show up. They almost pull it off last week but yeah, Falcons defense really was really impressive against a really loaded Minnesota Vikings team.
Not sure how much that was on the Vikings either though.
I'm tempted to take the Panthers actually with the points.
[00:41:30] Speaker B: I'm going to pitch you down.
Yeah, I mean divisional games typically are close, just not right now. I haven't seen anything from Carolina offensively that looks great. I mean they a lot of lot of garbage yards late against Arizona made it a lot more closer, closer than that game was.
[00:41:50] Speaker A: You said two offensive lines guys are out though.
[00:41:53] Speaker B: Yeah, they're starting center. Their right guard I believe are both out.
[00:41:57] Speaker A: No, that's not happening.
I'll take the Falcons. Yeah.
[00:42:01] Speaker B: All right, let's.
Yeah, I mean we see. I saw the team speed up. Atlanta on defense really, really impressive fast.
[00:42:11] Speaker A: Raiders and Commanders same over under at 44.
Commander Saver by three and a half.
Who you got?
[00:42:21] Speaker B: Well, it looks like Jaden Daniels is out. He's not going to play. I think that's in Shows by the line and believe the Commanders would have been about five and a half point favorite of Jaden Daniels are playing. Looks like Marcus Mariota will play.
Raiders did not look good on Monday night. Geno Smith really struggled. Brock Bowers looks banged up with a knee brace. He looks to be playing about 60, 70%. Raiders need to pound the rock. They need to run Ashton Jinty a lot more. He needs 20, 25 carries. Seems like they're trying to conserve him as the season goes on.
Big game for both sides.
I like the Commanders here.
Raiders are traveling out there. Marcus Mario is more than a suitable quarterback for backup. I thought he had a good game last year when he came in against Carolina. I like the Commanders here to win. So give me the Commanders minus three and a half to send the Vegas Raiders to one and two on the season.
[00:43:11] Speaker A: Wow.
Raiders got their ass beat by a really good Chargers team.
They had luck in week one upsetting the Patriots. Do they find that east coast magic again?
I think they do. Geno Smith has to rebound. He had a terrible game. What five interceptions running around.
Nobody was open.
I feel like the Raiders really need this one so I'll take the points.
[00:43:42] Speaker B: It's not a bad play. I mean Gino usually typically bounces back and Plays better after a poor game like that. But as I mentioned, they got to get something going in the run game. 11 carries. Virginity in that one.
Give him the ball. Give him 20 carries.
[00:43:55] Speaker A: 25 and came about like 14 of 16. Not enough. That's not enough.
[00:44:01] Speaker B: Yeah. Washington defensively not really sure what they got.
Great week one. Terrible week two against Green Bay. They've had extra time to prepare for this game and they know that. Like I said, I don't think Daniels is gonna play. He's still not practicing.
Obviously if he does play, that line is going to go up from three and a half probably to about five, five and a half. But yeah, I, I still like the commanders with Marcus Mariota to get the job done here at home.
[00:44:28] Speaker A: Nice.
Next game we got packers and Browns, your pack favored by seven and a half over under 41 and a half. So a little low for this game. Who you got?
[00:44:39] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean packers first road game. To me the line is low. I mean the packers have looked great. They've got a great defense. They're confident. The Browns just have nothing going for them on offense. Give me the pack here. By minus seven and a half they're going to win this game by double digits.
I'm just not buying in them right now. What Cleveland's got going on, poor performances against Cincinnati. Not a great defense obviously. Baltimore much better with a bounce back win for them. But Green Bay, unless they're looking ahead to the Cowboys which is always a possibility, I don't think they are. I think, I think Green Bay's on a mission and I think they're just going to blow Cleveland out. Give me the packers minus seven and a half.
[00:45:18] Speaker A: Yeah.
Browns burned me the week prior by not showing up for a divisional game. Games at the that they usually play pretty, pretty tough in it did not look good. You're right. Pack look like they're on a mission.
They're admitting they got so much more to go. Love has looked pretty good. The defense looks great. We'll see they're. They're still incorporating Parsons.
[00:45:42] Speaker B: He's off, he's off the injury reports. That means he's feeling pretty good this week.
[00:45:45] Speaker A: Really?
[00:45:46] Speaker B: Yeah.
Not. Not listed, not listed of a sore back and I think Green Bay, Jordan Love and all those guys have a lot to prove. They're not happy being two zero.
[00:45:56] Speaker A: No they, they just, I think they.
[00:45:59] Speaker B: Just want, they don't want to just win games. I think they want to make statements and wins and no better statement to win against the lonely, lonely Browns.
[00:46:08] Speaker A: Nice seven And a half points is a lot, though. It is a way.
[00:46:13] Speaker B: I don't think it's enough here.
[00:46:15] Speaker A: Maybe you might be right. Bengals, Vikings.
[00:46:17] Speaker B: So here you got. You're taking. You're taking the Browns. You're taking the Packers.
[00:46:20] Speaker A: I'm taking the Packers. I. I think Flacco is going to probably get injured in this game.
[00:46:26] Speaker B: And then you bring the rookie Dylan Gabriel.
[00:46:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:30] Speaker B: Against Green Bay's defense.
[00:46:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:33] Speaker B: Easy, easy couple picks. Easy couple picks. If he gets thrown in there.
[00:46:37] Speaker A: Yeah, that.
That's where you would want like a Shador Sanders who's a little more mobile to kind of come in, but he's down below the.
On that chart and it's not going to happen. So 42 and a half over under for this next game. Bengals, Vikings.
Vikings favored by three.
Both starting quarterbacks are out.
[00:46:56] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the key headline here. You got the. It's backup QB versus backup qb.
I really don't know what to expect a lot in this game.
[00:47:03] Speaker A: I mean, this would be a stay away for me.
[00:47:06] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, you got wins coming in for the Vikings. I mean, he hasn't really played a meaningful snap here in a while, but he's had a good coaching the last couple of years behind Mahomes and Andy Reid. He was with under Stafford and McVeigh. I think it said I like the Vikings defense here to cause a couple turnovers again.
Bangles plus threes. It's a lot of points. I. I'm gonna side with the Bengals plus 3.
Not real confident in it.
Minnesota hasn't got anything going offensively. I think they will look better offensively actually under Wentz, but Bengals can score too. A lot of turnovers in this game. I think there's gonna be a lot of turnovers in this game, but I'll go with the Bengals plus three. Don't feel good about it. Typical game I would not be playing because you just don't know what you're gonna get from either backup quarterback since he hasn't been able to run the ball. Minnesota hasn't been able to run the ball.
A lot of turnovers. I think it's gonna be a lot of turnovers in this game.
[00:48:02] Speaker A: I don't know what Wentz has left. I think he. He just made a new NFL record starting for six different teams six straight years. I would have thought it would have been Fitzpatrick since he was like the journeyman, but that was not the case. So it's kind of weird. Vikings need to bounce back game. I think the Bengals got away with one last week. Browning throwing three interceptions. He's more than competent, has an arm. He got his teams back.
I think it'll be a shootout. Actually. I'm gonna go with the over as like my surprise here.
There will be some interceptions, but you got both backup quarterbacks trying to prove that they got an arm. They're going to let it air out. And I think the Vikings coach, I think he does like a veteran quarterback. He does pretty well with veteran quarterbacks that have not done well in other places. I think Wentz will show a little old magic that he had back with the Eagles. Little throwback game here. I'm taking the Vikings. You got Bengals with the points.
[00:48:59] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll go Bangles plus points.
Don't. Don't feel great about it.
I. I think the Vikings defense is going to ball out and show up, but we'll see. I mean, like I said, I think it'll be a lot of turnovers and wins. I mean, does he turn back the clock to the MVP that he was in Philadelphia, or does he go back to the wins we saw with the Colts where he saw he looked terrible. He was not looking his best. I think it's gonna be a little bit in between, but I agree. I think the Vikings are going to look a lot better offensively.
Bengals do not have a great defense at all, but they do get turnovers. That's. That's their kind of their bread and butter. They have forced Turnovers these first two games to get to two. Zero.
[00:49:38] Speaker A: Nice. All right.
Rams Eagles over under 44 and a half.
Eagles favored by three and a half.
[00:49:46] Speaker B: We got big rematch of the divisional playoff game. You could make the case that these were the two best teams last year in the NFC based off what we saw towards the end of the year in the playoffs, I'm going with the Eagles. The Rams have not in the regular season nor in the playoffs been able to stop Saquon Barkley. I see him having another big game. He'll be the difference. Either the Rams are going to play their two shell safety look and he's going to have a big run game. Are they going to press up and look for A.J. brown to have a big game? Everybody's talking about the Eagles can't throw the ball. They don't do that. We always know Hertz kind of. He. He keeps notes and then when he has a big game, he lets you know, I still got it. Give me the Eagles. Give me the Eagles -3 and a half over the Rams here.
[00:50:32] Speaker A: Wow.
Yeah. I'll agree with you here.
Eagles tough win last week. Rams surprisingly better than I thought so far.
The Rams defense is solid too. I would think this might be like an underplay, like an additional side bet here. It might be like an ugly game. This is a repeat of the playoffs right where like the Rams came back from behind like in the fourth quarter.
Almost got the upset there.
Yeah, you're right.
Hertz is, is due for one. Billy got a hundred yards, hasn't given his receivers any love. There's been a lot of talk. Dude, you're right.
You talked me into it. Actually.
I'm agree with you. Eagles with the points.
Next game. Steelers Patriots 44 and a half.
Steelers here by a point and a half. Basically a pickup.
[00:51:28] Speaker B: Yeah, Rome, I've gone back and forth on this game between the Steelers and Patriots. I'm going to go with the home dog Patriots here getting the one and a half Steelers to me I defensively are still a mess.
Drake May is showing progress. He looks like he's playing better. I think he's playing confident.
New England's a little bit better defensively than people give him credit for. I know Tua got some yardage against them and Gino, but the Steelers really aren't a great passing attack team. Outside of Rogers, you know he had four touchdowns passing in the first game. But they want to run the ball, they want to pound the ball. Two tight end sets. To me the disappointment has been the Steelers defense. They've been banged up.
I'm going to say the Patriots win one late.
A late field goal to win it. I'll take the Patriots at home as a home dog.
[00:52:19] Speaker A: Wow.
Wow. Okay.
This would be a stay away for me.
Typically.
I don't know what to expect. The Steelers from week one or Steelers from week two.
Two different teams. Rogers though has looked pretty decent.
They gotta give Metcalf some love though. We need the victory, man. We need the victory.
I'm gonna play hometown favorite here. I'm pulling a Jason.
I'm just gonna shoot for the best.
Steelers with the points.
[00:52:54] Speaker B: Steelers should get this victory. I mean they should. I just like you said Rome, I, I don't trust them and I like the consistency I'm seeing from the Patriots right now. I just, I, I feel like they're growing in a positive direction. Mike Rabel's got them playing well. They're confident. To me, I think the Patriots are going to be one of those teams that every game is going to be one score games and they're either going to be like four and eight in them or like seven and five and you're like, oh, man, they can make the playoffs. Big game for both teams. They're both 1 and 1, and it's an AFC conference game, so we'll see.
I'm not confident that the Patriots get it done, but I just, I, I feel a little more confident in Drake May right now than I do Aaron Rodgers in this in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
[00:53:36] Speaker A: I like Drake May. I like the Pats. It's. Yeah, it's a tough one. You know, I can see it go either way.
Jets, bucks 43 and a half over under.
We got one more morning game after this. Bucks favorite by six and a half.
Baker Mayfield getting lots of love, lots of love lately.
Jets, same thing. Just like this. Steelers looked great in week one, not so great in week two. Which one's the real one? Well, the real Slim Shady, please stand up.
[00:54:08] Speaker B: Well, the real I, I thought the real Justin Field stood up in week two and now he's back on the bench, out with a concussion. Tyrod Taylor steps in for them here.
A lot to like about this Bucks team, but they're coming off a physical, physical game Monday night came away with that win. Baker sneaking out the old five hole to pick up that first down and big four from 10 to get them that victory.
They are without. You know, they just lost a DN for the season. Looks like both of the. They got a couple wide receivers banged up.
I'm reluctantly going to go over the jets plus six and a half. I think the physicality of that Monday night game coming back home, Tampa's going to be a little bit sluggish. I think Tyrod Taylor gives the Jets a little bit of a spark. I think the offensive coaching staff there is really competent.
Just had a bad game this last one.
Full week to practice. I'll see the jets cover. Bucks win, but give me the jets plus six and a half.
[00:54:58] Speaker A: Oh, man, you took my play.
Yeah, I think it'd be a close one. Jets cover, but yeah, they're not going to win, though. I, I, I want to say that they pull up an upset, but Bucks have been banging out a couple tough victories back to back to back.
Yeah, I'm gonna switch it up.
I think Buck's gonna let it air out. I think they cover the six and a half. They win by a touchdown or more.
[00:55:21] Speaker B: Here, make me mark out. You pulled the old flip on me there.
[00:55:27] Speaker A: Bucks with the big victory, they need it more than ever. Tyra Taylor, I don't know what he got left.
Remember man, he's supposed to be the starting quarterback for the Chargers and the doctor punctured his lungs and that's what gave birth to Herbert. Otherwise, who knows? Herbert may still be on the bench till this day.
No one would know. The like one of the craziest what ifs recently.
[00:55:50] Speaker B: The, the doc knew. He saw the tape and said, hey, putting you out. Hey, hey, hey. They settled it under the table, they signed their NDAs and everybody moves on 100%.
[00:56:04] Speaker A: That's hilarious.
Oops. Last morning game we got the Texans and Jags. Texans slight favorites by one and a half.
[00:56:12] Speaker B: Another Jaguar's favorite here.
[00:56:14] Speaker A: Oh, Jags. Okay, dude, my, my eyes are blurry here. 44 jags are favored.
Texans, man, looking really shoddy so far early in the season. Who you got?
[00:56:28] Speaker B: There's no team this weekend that needs to win more than the Houston Texans.
Not 100. I mean they can't afford to go to 03 in the division. With the Colts likely to go to 3. 0, the Jaguars would go to 2 and 1. Texans are in a basic must win here. I'm going to ride with the Texans. They get Christian Kirk back. He's the ex Jaguar. A couple years there, he'll be hungry. I think they've been saving him for this game. Texas defenses we all know is an elite top five unit.
The offense. I don't know why they got rid of the oc. The new OC has done a terrible job. This O line's not great. I saw a stat that CJ Strauss being pressured on 40 of all drop back passes that ranks third highest in the NFL for two weeks.
I'm worried about the Texans. But if there's ever a team that needs to win, it's them. They need it more than anybody in the NFL this week. So I gotta ride with them.
[00:57:19] Speaker A: I'm taking the Texans 100, man plus. I just don't like Lawrence.
I think facing Texas is going to be amped up. Dude, that defense is going to swarm over Lawrence all week. He couldn't hit his receivers.
Yeah, not digging anything. How are you liking Cohen so far though?
[00:57:38] Speaker B: Love when I'm seeing Manic Cohen. Love it. I, you know, I, I, I came into the off season saying he was one of the top guys to get the job. And everyone was like, and everyone was kind of like, hey, he's not going to get one. And then you know, Jacksonville kind of snuck in there, slipped the old yacht down the old bay area and he jumped on board.
I, I, I love everything this guy does. He's gonna have a great game plan. That was what worries me. I mean, the run game for the Jacksonville, that's kind of his bread and butter. I mean, he creates great lanes in the run game.
You're not as high on Lawrence as I am. I'm not super high on him, but he's got weapons. This is a tough game for the Texans, but it's desperation. It's now or never.
They gotta win this game. Oh, and three. I don't know. Jason's not here to look it up, but I don't know if there's ever been a team in the NFL that's made the playoffs. At 03, you only got a 12 chance. At 02, the Texas season, basically you can write them off for dead if.
[00:58:30] Speaker A: They lose this game 100 or be like. Like that Bengal situation.
Yeah, it's just struggling to get the 500. Good team but just bad year.
Now we're into the afternoon Games. We have 105 Pacific Time Broncos at the San Diego Chargers.
[00:58:52] Speaker B: Los Angeles Chargers. Los Angeles.
[00:58:54] Speaker A: Dude, I've been saying that in every pod.
[00:58:58] Speaker B: That's the first time I heard you mention San Diego. Have you been saying in every pod?
[00:59:02] Speaker A: I have?
[00:59:02] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe. Maybe. It's been so late at night I just haven't caught it.
[00:59:06] Speaker A: Yeah, no.
I've been debating on going to this game.
[00:59:11] Speaker B: GT is going to be there.
[00:59:12] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:59:14] Speaker B: Him and my mom will be there.
[00:59:15] Speaker A: So that'd be kind of cool. Yeah, I think that'd be kind of a fun game. I. I like the idea of taking my daughter a Chargers game more so than a Niners game. Niners games can get pretty rowdy. Chargers games, a little more civilized. Fans. I like the fan.
[00:59:29] Speaker B: It's a little more neutral because you have Charger fans, the other team and just kind of general football fans.
[00:59:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:59:35] Speaker B: Just there to have a good time and relax. Yeah, I got that vibe when we went there, what, two seasons ago?
[00:59:41] Speaker A: Yeah. So, yeah. Chargers favored by two and a half against the Broncos over under 46. Who you got?
[00:59:47] Speaker B: Big divisional game.
Chargers have a chance to go to3.0, but also 30 in the division, which would give him a two game division lead on everybody if.
If the Chiefs and everybody loses this weekend. Cleo Mack injury hurts. I think it shows up in this game. I got the Broncos covering two and a half. I got the Broncos going into LA and winning. Give me the Broncos Bo Nick Sean Payton to rebound. I think it's a similar game to last week. Like the Colts. Whoever has the ball last wins. And I'm going with the Broncos here.
[01:00:20] Speaker A: Broncos, the win and they cut. Well, obviously they cover.
[01:00:24] Speaker B: I think they're going to win, but, you know, hey, two and a half. It's to me. To me, It's. It's a 12 point game either side. Just like the Colts last week. It's. It's going to be a tight game. I'll take the two and a half. I'll take the. I'll take the Broncos.
[01:00:38] Speaker A: Yeah. This would be a. Stay away from me, man.
Tough divisional game. You're right. Broncos need to bounce back from last week.
I don't know how.
I don't know which way to lean on this one. I don't know how it's gonna go. This feels like a 21, 23 type of game.
So I. I would definitely lean on the under on this one for sure.
But Herbert, for instance, they didn't score a lot of points until the end against the Raiders. And the Broncos are a lot better than them.
Man, it was tough.
Could I come back to this game?
[01:01:18] Speaker B: Sure. Rome, sure.
[01:01:20] Speaker A: Let's come back to it.
[01:01:21] Speaker B: I think. I think. I think you have a side. You're just not convinced what side you want to take.
[01:01:26] Speaker A: Oh, Charters look really great, man. They look really great. I just.
I'm not. I'm not a big Broncos guy. I'm not a big Payton guy, but this would be like the week that they put something up here.
Who has a better defense?
[01:01:45] Speaker B: They're both elite defenses.
This is. This is a very, very evenly matched game.
[01:01:52] Speaker A: I think.
I think the Broncos could pull this off. I'm just gonna go with the home team, though.
[01:01:57] Speaker B: Chargers, you're gonna go. Chargers minus two and a half.
[01:02:02] Speaker A: Yeah. Staying defeated.
[01:02:05] Speaker B: I like it, man.
[01:02:06] Speaker A: Yeah.
All right, guys forced me to do some picks here. Saints at the Seahawks. Seahawks favored by seven points over under 41 and a half.
[01:02:19] Speaker B: Well, the Saints, they ain't. I like Seattle.
I like Seattle to cover here at home. Seattle struggled the last couple years here of the new coaching staff at home, but Kubiak going back against his old team, that was OC for last year. First game for Kellen Moore and the Saints on the road. Couple tough home losses to start the campaign. Seattle. Seattle can't afford to lose this game. They really can't. I mean, you got a bad team coming into your house.
You got a chance to get the two in one. After that nice win against the Steelers. This defense is really, really good.
Darnold in the running game got some stuff going. I think they ran the ball like 40, 45 times last week, whatever it was.
I like Seattle here to win cover. So give me the Seahawks double that.
[01:03:05] Speaker A: I think the Seahawks need a victory here. They'll be at home. Yeah. And their quarterback has looked pretty decent so far. You know, kind of, kind of getting comfortable there in Seattle. So it's a tough place to play.
I think what we Week one, they play the Niners. That was a tough one. I think they bounced back with a obviously easier opponent.
They definitely cover Cowboys, Bears, Cowboys here by one point over, under 50 and a half.
You got to think, man, this is going to be a fun game.
This is really enticing. I don't know if this, this, this might be a stay away from me, but like a must watch on the tv.
[01:03:45] Speaker B: Yeah, must watch. You know, these afternoon games, you get to watch them all because there's only four. So they fit on the tv.
So that's always great.
Jason will be there.
He's got, he's in Chicago for a wedding. And then hopefully the wedding's better than the performance I think the Bears are going to give on Sunday because I like the Cowboys.
[01:04:05] Speaker A: Whoa.
[01:04:06] Speaker B: Dak Prescott and the boys to go in to Chicago and get the W here. Chicago secondaries banged up, man. They got more holes in a Swiss cheese. They're in trouble. Rome, they are in trouble in the secondary.
And hey, who cares if you can't get after the quarterback, man, Caleb Williams has a tough time being consistent. Ben Johnson, I'm hearing a lot coming out about him saying that this team does not have the mentality of a champion. They're not practicing good. They're great.
[01:04:35] Speaker A: That he's saying that I, I, that's.
[01:04:37] Speaker B: A good sign for Chicago, you know. And another thing here, you know, Chicago defense. Matt Eberfluss runs that defense. You know, I think the Cowboys have his back this weekend.
I like the Cowboys to beat the Bears.
[01:04:52] Speaker A: Wow, this is tough.
This is a tough one because I like everything that I'm seeing from the Cowboys so far.
Two tough games.
They barely inked out a victory against the Giants, though, at home.
They almost upset Eagles on the road. This can be in Chicago. Like, what's the weather this weekend? Is it warm all over the country?
[01:05:19] Speaker B: Should be. Yeah. It looks like it'd be 80 degrees. Maybe some, maybe some showers here and there, but overall pretty nice.
[01:05:25] Speaker A: I don't think the Bears can afford to go down 0 and 3, though. The pressure is already really hot up there. They have to get a victory. This is going to be a close one. I'LL take the Bears with the one point, but wouldn't be surprised either way.
[01:05:44] Speaker B: All right. I. I thought you were going to be on the Cowboys. Rome. I thought it was gonna be a clean sweep because I think. I think Jason's on the Cowboys this week. Surprisingly. I think he's gonna try to do the old reverse jinx and just, you know, I thought it was gonna be his clean sweep. Cowboys. But if you're going Bears. Right on.
[01:05:59] Speaker A: I. I do like the Cowboys. Yeah. It's just.
Yeah, man. Bears need one. Bears need one.
[01:06:05] Speaker B: They do, they do. But Jason's there. But just. Just for the record, since we started the Podge with Jason in attendance, bears are 0 and 2 and have been blown out in both games. So.
[01:06:15] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. They don't do well when he's there.
[01:06:17] Speaker B: Maybe. Maybe the third time's a charm. We're gonna find out. First home game, though, he was in Arizona in San Francisco for those other ones.
[01:06:25] Speaker A: Yeah. At the time of recording, I'm going with the Bears, but not feeling really good about that pick.
Kind of rooting for Cowboys, so.
All right. Last afternoon game, Cardinals at the 49ers here.
I think I revealed on the podcast last time how my friend has a way of getting to the games. I was looking up tickets because.
[01:06:47] Speaker B: Have you talked to him since? We kind of touch base on that.
[01:06:53] Speaker A: Not about that. No. It was more about it because I slipped at work and my knee's been jacked up since then, so.
[01:07:00] Speaker B: So you're. You're on the injury report this week. Questionable but likely to watch games is what you're saying?
[01:07:07] Speaker A: Yeah, I might be on it for, like, it. This entry. Feel like it's gonna be like a couple months. Actually, I'm not. I'm not too enthused about it. I was ready to start jogging and running again, you know.
[01:07:16] Speaker B: Rome. Are you kind of like. I don't know. I haven't. I don't have notes on it. Haven't. Ke.
But are you kind of like on the injury cycle of, like, a Joe Burrow? When he goes down, you go down. Because it kind of seems like there's little similarities. Like, you know, when he's out two, three months, you're out two, three months? I. I don't know. There's two. I don't know if the two are related, but, you know, just. I. Maybe I gotta start tracking that. Get. Get the team on that.
[01:07:39] Speaker A: Oh, man. That slip last Friday, though, did not help. It definitely hurt so weird, man. Just like one weird little tug and it can. I don't know. It does not feel good. That's all I got to say.
45, though. Over, under Cardinals niners. Mac Jones.
[01:07:57] Speaker B: Is it Mac Jones? Is it Mac Jones? I heard Brock Purdy might play this week.
[01:08:00] Speaker A: Really?
[01:08:01] Speaker B: I. That's. That's what I heard.
I was. I had. I had a segment all set up for Return of the Mac. You know. You know, listening. A little old school Return of the Mac going on here, but I heard Purdy practice limited. He may or may not play. I. I don't think he will, but who knows, man? There's a ch.
You know, whether or not you go to this game, bro, what game are you going to? You going to 49ers? Cardinals? You going to Chargers? Broncos? Are you just kind of in between there watching in central Cali? Where are you going, man?
[01:08:32] Speaker A: I don't know yet. I don't know if I. If I can arrange it to stay down there and still get those tickets. That'd be kind of cool to go on Sunday to the Chargers.
[01:08:41] Speaker B: You know, you could try that. The move that your guy does at Levi's. That's so fine. See if that one works. I mean, maybe this is a, you know, NFL little. Little scheme thing going on here.
[01:08:54] Speaker A: Maybe I'll text my co worker and see what he thinks.
[01:08:57] Speaker B: There you go. Yeah, but I'm going. I'm going with 49ers Rome. I'm gonna take the 49ers here. This is.
This is their home opener, so it's a big game.
Cardinals traditionally play these guys pretty tight, but yeah, I like. I'm gonna go with the 49ers here, man. I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take them minus two and a half to beat the Cardinals.
[01:09:23] Speaker A: Nice. Yeah. Clean sweep here.
They won two games on the road. Two tough games. Cardinals have looking a little bit more shaky in their two victories.
The NFC west, man, everyone's doing pretty well. 202020 for the Rams. Cardinals, 49ers, they make up half of the undefeateds in the league right now. I think there's like, what, seven or eight teams and Seahawks are doing pretty well, too. So that's gonna be a tough division.
Niners all the way. They gotta get it with Mac, Jones or Purdy. A lot of people are not pretty fans, man. I. I'm feeling kind of bad for him. I still like him as a quarterback. I still think he's like a top 10 quarterback, in my opinion.
[01:10:02] Speaker B: I know, I know you're really high on Purdy. From our conversations in Vegas. And like, I like him, but Mac Jones, you know, showed up last week. If Purdy's not 100, I wouldn't throw him out there. I think Kyle Shannon's got enough faith in Mac Jones. You know, maybe that was the guy they wanted to draft or were interested in drafting a few years back after they took Trey Lance.
So we'll see how it goes here. But Cardinals secondaries defense is really, really banged up. They got. You know, we talked about them giving up a lot of points late to Carolina. A lot of that had to do with their defensive guys in the back end getting banged up.
49ers, physicality, McCaffrey, those guys. Big game here for the 49ers. We talked about how their schedule, soft home opener.
You know, some people are on the bandwagon. Some have jumped off that, you know, Rome Bay Area fans will be calling for Kyle Shanahan's head if he loses this one. So I. I feel like the 49ers, I still like them here.
[01:10:55] Speaker A: Yeah, I do like the under on this one, too. 45 points.
Niners have just not scored at will yet. But their defense is still like, Ben, don't break. This can be a low scoring game. Cardinals have not shown me anything. It's kind of weird though. I do have Connor, my fantasy football team. I hope he gets some touches in a. And a goddamn touchdown.
Hasn't shown me much yet.
I don't know who to start this week.
[01:11:20] Speaker B: I don't like him in that matchup room. Who's your backup?
[01:11:24] Speaker A: Glad you asked, dude, because I do not like.
[01:11:27] Speaker B: I do not like Connor this weekend.
[01:11:30] Speaker A: You don't like it?
[01:11:31] Speaker B: Nah.
[01:11:33] Speaker A: All right, so let's just segue to a little fancy football here real quick. Love to get your feedback here. I got like 20 different. I got 40, 40 tabs up here, man. At least.
All right, so I got Justin Herbert and B. Knicks as my quarterbacks. Tough one, man.
[01:11:53] Speaker B: We going against each other.
Yeah, that is a tough one.
[01:11:59] Speaker A: I got Nico Collins has not done much for me so far. Mike Evans are my two wide receivers right now.
[01:12:05] Speaker B: I like them both this weekend, but.
[01:12:07] Speaker A: They have not given me much. Jerry Judy is my backup wide receiver, so not much either. I don't like that running backs. Someone offered me, offered a trade for Ashton Genty, but I feel like this might be the breakout week against Washington. Okay, who'd I pick in that game? I got the Raiders. That one. Yeah. Yeah, you do with the points. Yeah.
Devon Hin from Miami.
[01:12:30] Speaker B: Okay.
Okay.
[01:12:33] Speaker A: Plays tonight but DeAndre Swift and Jordan Mason are my backup running backs.
[01:12:39] Speaker B: And I do, I do like Jordan Mason this week.
[01:12:43] Speaker A: Yeah, so do I.
[01:12:46] Speaker B: Swift. Swift, he could have a good game. Dallas isn't very good, but they do got Clark. I do like Jordan Mason. I think Jordan Mason could have a nice game against Cincinnati.
[01:12:56] Speaker A: Just matter of like do I bench ancient or not? He's been pretty good so far this year.
[01:13:01] Speaker B: He's getting a lot of, he gets a lot of catches.
[01:13:03] Speaker A: Catches and receiving yards.
[01:13:06] Speaker B: Yeah, he's gonna get the ball. I think you have to, I think you have to keep him in your lineup.
[01:13:09] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:13:10] Speaker B: He's the only bright spot Miami has on offense right now.
[01:13:12] Speaker A: That's it. He's the only one. Yeah, absolutely right.
[01:13:15] Speaker B: Tyree kills disappeared. Jaden Waddles banged up. Yeah. You're not pulling hn out. No way.
[01:13:21] Speaker A: Here's the thing though, man, for tight ends. I got Laporta has not really delivered. But I do got Kincaid plays tonight.
[01:13:30] Speaker B: Okay.
Feels like a touchdown Kincaid tonight. Just saying.
Feels like, it feels like he has like a weird stat line where he gets three catches, 26 yards, but one's a touchdown. I'm just saying.
[01:13:42] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then James Connor is my flex right now.
[01:13:46] Speaker B: And flex can be a tight end, wide receiver or running back.
[01:13:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:13:53] Speaker B: I'd get Connor out of there.
[01:13:55] Speaker A: They've been splitting carries. Dude. He's only been getting 1112 carries a game. Couple catches, not much. And they're going to be actually playing a really good defense. This was against the Saints and, and the Panthers. He hasn't been doing well.
[01:14:07] Speaker B: Yeah, I know. They got Trey Benson, who they second year guy at a Florida State who they like.
It's gonna be tough. I mean I haven't looked at, look at the 49ers, haven't given up a lot on the run game. I mean they shut down Seattle in the run game. I, I don't know what New Orleans did in the run game against them, but Robert Sal has got that defense playing a lot better than people you know would have thought possibly coming into the year. But yeah, the 49ers, I'm looking at the box score in the last game. 121 rushing. So. Yeah, we'll see. I, I, I, I think, I think the Stevens can be fired up though. The defense, home opener 2 0, they always come out fired up. You got, you got to wear them down. You got to wear them down.
[01:14:48] Speaker A: Tough one, man. I got Arizona defense though, just not a good week for me.
[01:14:54] Speaker B: I just, yeah, it's really not Dr.
Yeah, I would.
You got to see who's available out there. But I mean it could be a little scoring game like you mentioned. Realm 49ers aren't lining people up on offense either.
But I. They're really banged up. Cardinals are defensively.
[01:15:14] Speaker A: I forgot where we left off here.
[01:15:16] Speaker B: Sunday night game Chief Sand. Giants.
[01:15:20] Speaker A: Yeah. Chiefs. Giants 45. Over under Chase Air by six points on the road in New York.
You got.
[01:15:33] Speaker B: Yeah. Hard. Hard to imagine why the Chiefs are favored by six points. I mean, they can barely even score six points. It seems like in the first avenue of these games, I'm going with the giants plus six.
I know I. I would lean towards the under 45 too. I mean, I know the giants scored 37 points last week, but that was against a defense that isn't like Kansas. So it is know Spags is going to bring a lot of blitz, a lot of pressure they had. They held the Eagles at 20 points.
He's going to just. He's just going to. He's going to bring all these out, all these blitzes. Zero pressure, zero looks. Force you get rid of the ball fast. Russell Wilson struggled last year against this defense when the Steelers. That was kind of when the Steelers started to tank and just fall apart.
But the Chiefs, offensively, they're not very good.
Kelsey's looking, you know, looking a little bit slower. Looking like he's got one. One head in the game, one head out as he gets ready for marriage and retirement.
I'm gonna go Giants plus six. Must win game for Kansas City as well. They can't afford to go. Owen 3.
They will not make the playoffs if they go on three. It'd be very, very difficult. Xavier will be expected back, but Giants. I'm going Giants plus six. Room.
[01:16:43] Speaker A: You think Casey wins?
[01:16:46] Speaker B: They went a tight one. Yes. Kind of like how they went last year. Words.
Just maybe, maybe a call, maybe a field goal, maybe a bounce here.
I'll say Kansas city wins like 20 to 16.
I like the under and I like. I like the Giants plus six.
[01:17:02] Speaker A: Yeah. Russell Wilson, I think you said he was gonna get benched after last week. He leads the league in passing yards right now and a lot of other categories like in the top 10.
[01:17:11] Speaker B: So still two though.
[01:17:12] Speaker A: He's still owing two. Still owing two. This is gonna be surprisingly good game for Sunday night football with a couple no win teams.
I'm taking the Giants points here. Both teams gotta win.
Both teams gotta win. Casey has to win it more than the Giants. But Giants brought over Like a whole bunch of new quarterbacks to be competitive this year.
[01:17:34] Speaker B: I don't know.
[01:17:35] Speaker A: This would be a. Stay away from me, but if it's a close game, I'll take the points for the Giants.
[01:17:42] Speaker B: Six points is a lot. I mean, it's. It's a lot of points.
[01:17:46] Speaker A: Giants, especially when you got the Giants. If Wilson's passing like the way he did last week, I think they might have the emerging number one wide receiver in the NFL.
[01:17:56] Speaker B: Neighbors is a stud.
[01:17:57] Speaker A: They gotta keep his composure, like his head game. But it seems like he's at least aware of it. He's not like a Pickens or Antonio Brown type. He's aware that he's. He's crazy, which is a good sign. You got to know, I think.
[01:18:08] Speaker B: I think people are kind of blowing that Brian Dable and him out of. Out of portion. I think that's.
I didn't see anything that was heated there. Nothing that was like a Tyree Kill tantrum that he pulls or, you know, a Pickens. Like you said, I think Neighbors is just a guy wants to go out and play football. Good, real player.
Giants got to get the run game going here. I think you can run the ball in Kansas City, kind of deflect that pressure because if you're in pass downs, you know you're getting heavy blitz, heavy blitz. I mean, they held Jalen hurts to what, 100 yards passing last week. Herbert led him up for 300.
So close game. I'll take the Chiefs to win a close one late, but I like the Giants to cover and I like the under here as well.
[01:18:50] Speaker A: And the under got it last game. Monday night Lions at the Ravens.
Ravens favored by four and a half over, under 53.
[01:19:03] Speaker B: Really good Monday night matchup.
Rome. You've been noting for the last week that I basically was throwing the. The raft boat to the alliance and that they. Man overboard or team overboard.
Big game here. Ravens at home.
Chance to get to 2 and 1. Both teams can get the 2 and 1. Couple of reasons why I'm going with the Ravens here, continuing the coaching staff. Their defense is a little bit better. And another thing we, you know, we talk about all the time, every year, Lamar Jackson's record against the nfc, only what, one career loss against that conference as a whole. I think that takes place here at home.
Ravens gotta have it. Can't afford to lose big games here.
Detroit, how good are they? I think they're, like we said, a little bit in between what we saw between Chicago and Green Bay.
I'm gonna go Ravens to cover.
Close, close game. I'm gonna say Ravens win 34, 28 over the Lions, but it would not, it would not surprise me if the Lions found a way to pull this one out.
But it's going to be difficult. I mean, you don't, you just don't see a quarterback like Lamar Jackson all the time. And that's why the NFC really struggles to get something. You see him once every four years. The Lions.
[01:20:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
Now this is a tough one. This would might be a stay away. I think that would put me at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
[01:20:29] Speaker B: Yeah, the Ravens don't make my top five plays of the week, that's for sure.
[01:20:33] Speaker A: Yeah, I think it's gonna be tight. I think it's gonna be good. I do think the Lions look more like the Lions from last week. They beat the shot of the Bears for a good reason. Lions defense starting to get healthy from last year, starting to ramp up. They swarmed the out of Jackson this weekend. I'll take the Lions with the points. I don't know who wins. I, I, I, I do think what, as long as you got Lamar Jackson, as long as you got Derrick Henry. I like them to, to win the game. Right. It's a matter of like who has a bigger dick in this one.
I'll take the lines with the points, but wouldn't be surprised either way who wins.
[01:21:11] Speaker B: Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, my only concern with the Lions. We talked about it. Jason's noted it. You too, is that internal offensive line. It's not as good as it was a couple years back. They got some new pieces. They got some new guys. They're kind of a bit raw. Green Bay got after them. Chicago, let's be honest, they don't have the pass rush of the Ravens do that. That to me, is why I'm really leaning heavy here. Ravens to win this one.
[01:21:36] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:21:36] Speaker B: Lions got tons of weapons.
Ravens got guys that can cover too. I think if golf has time, it, it could spill a lot of trouble for the Ravens. The question is, will he have that time and golf when he typically doesn't? He's been known to get kind of wild on the road and throw some interceptions. That could be the big difference here. And I just, I like, I like the Ravens run game a little bit better right now than the Lions with the offensive line issues that the Lions have. I think that's, I think that's a big thing here.
That group hasn't built the continuity yet.
They might as the season goes on. That's why Eileen Ravens here. And again, the factor of Lamar Jackson, whatever he is, 26, 27 and one against NFC teams.
It's going to be tough. It's. It should be a really good game. Like I said, I, I like the over here Ravens in a high scoring shootout.
We know they can get scored on 41 points. Josh Allen dropped on them.
So yeah, high scoring game. But I'll take the Ravens.
[01:22:32] Speaker A: I love it, man. That's it. We'll get Jason's pick, I guess.
[01:22:37] Speaker B: Yeah, make sure he sends them in. Make sure he sends them in.
[01:22:40] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll make sure he sends them in. So far our record, I think I sent it to you guys. So the pod, we're doing a contest against the spread, so I'm gonna have to change the, some of the social media stuff here. But last week, me and you and Aaron, seven and eight. Jason was six to nine. Jason obviously did really well in week one for the season, both you guys are tied at 14 and 16 altogether.
I lost four games in the first week, so. Or three games, so I'm a little behind. Just one. Well, it, it looks worse, man. I'm just like one victory behind, but one more loss, but it's a four game gap. So.
[01:23:19] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, not good. I mean like again, these are against the spread. There's a lot of games Rome that would be, you know, traditionally would not be betting, would be stay away games.
But you know, we get, we give, we give a side for everybody just in case there's a homer out there. Like a Jason who loves his Bears wants to know what side you're on. There's a lot of Bay Area guys here too that are like, oh man, I love the 49ers. Oh, Roman, Jason and Aaron are on them.
[01:23:46] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:23:46] Speaker B: I'm taking them this week. So you know, don't, don't get mad. Anything can happen against the spread. These games, you know, entertainment purposes only.
You know, bet responsibly. Don't be betting your mortgage if you can't afford it the next month and don't be betting your kids college tuition away. Just, you know, you want to throw down a little three team twenty dollar parlay. Go for it. It's all good, you know, it's all good.
[01:24:14] Speaker A: I was clean out some memorabilia before we go.
Well, a couple more things. I found my stone cold Steve Austin Stein coaster when I was working and building this brand for him, the broken school ipa.
Pretty cool. And then I found this old Charger.
[01:24:31] Speaker B: Wow, Qualcomm. Did we get that at Qualcomm.
[01:24:34] Speaker A: The old Qualcomm. Yeah.
Submarina. California subscribers from Qualcomm. Number seven looks pretty jacked up.
[01:24:43] Speaker B: Was that for the year 07?
Because I don't remember who was number seven for the Chargers. I just gotta think that's from back. From 2007.
[01:24:49] Speaker A: It could be, actually. It could be.
[01:24:52] Speaker B: I mean, I know we had tickets and we would have been. Yeah. So.
[01:24:56] Speaker A: Yeah. Did you just alternate like season pass with me and Jason?
[01:25:01] Speaker B: That's great.
Did. Or did you guys. Did you guys have.
[01:25:05] Speaker A: I don't.
[01:25:06] Speaker B: I don't remember. You had four games and he had four games. I don't remember how it went.
[01:25:10] Speaker A: Is that what it was?
[01:25:10] Speaker B: I don't. I don't remember. Maybe Jason Nell is better because I, I only remember going to more games of you than him.
So I don't know if he did one year.
[01:25:20] Speaker A: As if you guys went to a lot of games. Like what? Like, I thought we went for like a couple seasons.
[01:25:25] Speaker B: Rome. That's how I remember it. How you remember it. So maybe, maybe those five dollar free beers kind of caught up to us over the time. I don't know.
[01:25:33] Speaker A: Well, that's when I could put him back. Dude, I was a drinking champ back then. Yeah. So fights. I never had a problem though.
[01:25:39] Speaker B: No, I mean our section was primarily all Chargers because it was more of the season ticket holders back at the old Q Qualcomm.
I don't. I just remember the one season with Jason. I don't know if there was another one or not. I think we did what, two or three?
[01:25:54] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:25:55] Speaker B: She's obviously G's back. G's back in the saddle again here at Sofi. So we'll see what those seats look like. I'll be at the Thursday night game back here. Coming up in.
[01:26:06] Speaker A: Let's see, let's see.
[01:26:09] Speaker B: Chargers.
That's week eight.
[01:26:12] Speaker A: Let me know.
[01:26:13] Speaker B: She only got two seats this year, man.
[01:26:16] Speaker A: I know. So I mean, you gotta talk to me about it.
[01:26:19] Speaker B: We gotta talk to him getting four, but you know, it's, you know, this show's gotta do a little bit better and the Chargers gotta show that they're a playoff team and winners too for us to kind of bite the pony on that one.
[01:26:32] Speaker A: I'm feeling like I was.
[01:26:33] Speaker B: I was looking into doing some more. I am looking into doing some more Ducks tickets, though. Hockey tickets, you know, maybe a small little package there.
[01:26:41] Speaker A: I'm down if you're in town.
[01:26:43] Speaker B: Edmonton. Edmonton is town. Late February. So we got to get tickets for that one might be the last time you see Those guys see McDavid as an Edmonton oiler because he is a free agent at the end of the year.
[01:26:58] Speaker A: That's right. That'd be cool. So I'm definitely go to some more Sharks games this year too. My first one last year.
[01:27:04] Speaker B: Yeah, you went there.
So I mean, I like, I would like to go there. So maybe if I'm up there, we can go to a game there. I mean, I like going to Honda Centers, you know, Nothing special about the arena, but it's a cool little spot to watch a game.
[01:27:15] Speaker A: It's very old school, dude. It's like vintage, like Caesar's palace, kind of like that.
That's how bougie.
[01:27:23] Speaker B: It's very simple.
[01:27:24] Speaker A: It looks in the 80s, you know, like lots of gold. Lots of like gold carpet. I kind of dig it.
[01:27:29] Speaker B: It's, it's, it's, it's very simple. And I like, I like crypto too. I like to go see the Keens play too. So, I mean, if anybody wants to sponsor the show, throw some tickets, or if we got to go tip a guy 25 bucks to get some lower bowl, you know, options are open. I mean, we're learning, we're learning new things all the time on this program.
[01:27:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
Real quick, before we go, I'm just gonna reveal my top eight power rankings going to week three. Since we got the game tonight, lots of changeover, but the top stay the same. I just didn't.
I couldn't find myself to like change it up. Even though I do like some teams more than others. Like the victories weren't big enough or like the losses weren't big enough. But making the rankings now at number eight for the first time this year is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Two solid wins. Baker Mayfield.
Honestly, if you look at all the stats since 2000 or 2020, elite company definitely in the top five in every category. I think he deserves a little bit recognition to be considered as a top five quarterback, but no one does that because they have him typically like in that 12 to 15 range.
Number seven. I got the Los Angeles Rams in there with a couple good victories themselves.
Not a McVeigh guy, not a Stafford guy, but I am impressed with their wins and you know, bad call for me. You know, they're not going to be last in that division. Let's just say that that's a, that's a very bad call.
[01:29:03] Speaker B: Rome. I mean, that might be up there with, you know, mine and Jason's Buffalo call last year, but, well, let's. Let's wait and see. I mean, if Stafford does this get hurt, it could go that way, but if he doesn't, the Rams are a legit playoff team.
[01:29:16] Speaker A: You gave me crap for not kicking them out of the power rankings last time, but I think it wasn't enough to kick him out.
They answered back with a big victory by devouring the Bears. The Lions climb up to number six in the power rankings. I have a lot of trust in them. We'll see how it goes after this weekend because they're facing another one up there for the other LA team. Number five, the Los Angeles Chargers.
I love them. They are my sleeper pick for the Super Bowl. Liking it so far.
Number four.
A lot of people have them higher, possibly two in a lot of the rankings, but you'll see why. That's the Green Bay Packers. I got them in number four. Basically everyone from five and up, I think is just the super bowl contenders right now early in the season.
Followed by number three, the Baltimore Ravens. You know, I thought they had a big win. The loss was not enough to knock them out of the top five either. Bills follow them at number two.
And then you got the Eagles at number one. And we got the image of the famous Tush push offsides from the Kansas City game on the graphic as well. That goes out later on today.
[01:30:33] Speaker B: Interesting. Interesting room.
[01:30:35] Speaker A: Okay. Eagles, Bills, Ravens, Packers, Chargers, Lions, Rams and Bucks entering week three in the NFL.
All right.
[01:30:45] Speaker B: I. I think the eight teams.
I think those eight teams are fine for a power rating.
I don't know if I necessarily have them all in that order, but.
[01:30:54] Speaker A: What's your biggest gripe this week?
[01:30:58] Speaker B: I would. I mean, personally, I would have your number eight and seven team ahead of your number six team. I would move them to eight.
[01:31:07] Speaker A: A lot of people do. Yeah.
[01:31:08] Speaker B: Given the fact that, you know, they're. The other teams are undefeated.
[01:31:12] Speaker A: Yep.
[01:31:13] Speaker B: And you know, look, you can make the case that you could put those teams ahead of the Ravens as well and move the 7 and 8. Could be Ravens, Lions, and they play this weekend or Monday night. So.
[01:31:24] Speaker A: Right.
[01:31:25] Speaker B: Don't really have a problem with the. The top eight.
I think. I think you got some borderline teams. I think I mentioned last week after week one, you had the Chiefs in there or somebody told you you should have bumped them out for Tampa. So, you know, obviously Tampa getting in there and I think another team. You didn't have them in there. I'm looking at right now. You could bump them out of the lines. But the Lions is fine. It's the Colts. I think the colts are like that 8A team. They're. They're on the border. They're. They're there. They're there.
[01:31:54] Speaker A: Yeah. So we'll see how they do.
[01:31:56] Speaker B: I mean, I would probably. I would personally take the Lions over them right now, so that's. That's okay. But they're close. They're scratching at your top eight. I'm pretty sure.
[01:32:05] Speaker A: We had two teams fall out. I. I dropped the commanders from the Chiefs, right?
Yeah, the Chiefs dropped from seven and out, so made some room, but nothing changed in the top four.
[01:32:16] Speaker B: You got a bottom five?
[01:32:18] Speaker A: Do I have a bottom five?
[01:32:19] Speaker B: No.
[01:32:20] Speaker A: We should do that, though.
[01:32:22] Speaker B: I mean, I'll give you a quick bottom five. I guess you can throw Miami in there.
You gotta throw the Bears in there.
You gotta throw the Saints in there. You gotta throw the jets in there, and you gotta throw the Browns. That would be my bottom five. No particular order, but that'd be the five teams.
[01:32:41] Speaker A: Miami, Bears, Jets, Saints and Browns.
[01:32:43] Speaker B: Yeah. Bottom five, huh?
[01:32:46] Speaker A: Interesting. I kind of like that. Maybe we should do your bottom five rankings then.
[01:32:50] Speaker B: Maybe I'm looking at it too. I guess you could throw the Titans, but I only got room for five. I. I think the Titans got a little more upside with Cam Warren.
[01:32:57] Speaker A: No, I like the Titans. They're gonna be a bad team, but now they're good, though, so that.
[01:33:01] Speaker B: That'd be my bottom five. No particular rank order, but I think those are the five bottom teams right now. I'm. Jason might disagree with the Bears, but you got to. After 52, 21 shellacking. That's the worst. That's the worst beating in the NFL really, this year behind the Colts.
[01:33:16] Speaker A: Pitting on a college game, too. Looked like a college game.
[01:33:19] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, it was on Easy Mode.
[01:33:23] Speaker A: On Easy Mode. Yeah.
All right.
That'll do it, right?
[01:33:28] Speaker B: I'm good.
[01:33:29] Speaker A: All right. Beautiful. College football games of the week is in. In the books.
NFL lines for week three in the books. Power rankings entering week three in the books and Aaron's debut of the bottom five in the books.
Pretty productive pod, I would say.
[01:33:46] Speaker B: Well, I'm not gonna lie. Productive pod. And it's only, what, eight minutes after 1:30?
[01:33:51] Speaker A: I love it.
[01:33:51] Speaker B: Pm not even am.
[01:33:53] Speaker A: I love it.
[01:33:53] Speaker B: This is great. I mean, you. You can't even beat that. I mean, I'm. You and I are both basically working off Natural Light here. I mean, we don't even need.
We don't even need a makeup production or anything. Just looking good in the natural light.
[01:34:04] Speaker A: So much time for activities now. You know, I can actually go see a doctor now. Hopefully.
[01:34:08] Speaker B: Go see a doctor. Go work out, enjoy Bruski. Enjoy the game and not have to worry about jumping on a pot at 9pm at night.
[01:34:14] Speaker A: Cool. All right, source from the sofa, we are out.
