Lines with the Guys for NFL Week 1: Picks, Predictions & the “JZ Bowl”!

[00:00:03] Speaker A: What's up everybody? This is horses from the sofa. It is time for lines with the guys. Our third iteration, third year doing this on the pod. If we look tired it's because we are knocking out three pods tonight. We just knocked out our NFL preview for the 2026 season. We broke it down by the AFC, then the NFC. We picked out our division winners one through four, who's finishing in each division, who's winning the top seed wild card and who is in their respective championship games and Super Bowl. So be sure to check that out. I will do my best to get some clips on the social so we are going to with the circus sports million lines that Aaron gets the point spread. So if it differs a little bit it's probably because the market has already moved it up or down. I guess the spread we kept track last couple years. Last year Jason won by one game. He was the most consistent sports better in the podcast throughout the season. No ups, no downs, just steady throughout the year and pretty impressive by him winning the against the spread contest between the pod. All right, so we had two games Pat, Seahawks as well as 49ers and Rams since that was earlier today down in Melbourne. So a nice little couple day break before we kick it off on Sunday for week one. Sunday morning is actually pretty packed man. We got 1, 2, 3, 4, I can't count anymore. [00:01:51] Speaker B: Eight games I believe eight games. [00:01:53] Speaker A: So we need two screens, two double boxes if you are on YouTube TV afternoon slate. I don't know man, I might take a nap on that one. There are some good games. I just might be tired. But here we go, new set of lines of the guys starting off with Browns versus Jaguars 40 and a half over under Jags favored by eight and a half. Aaron, take it away. [00:02:26] Speaker B: Yeah, first game in that Sunday morning window. You got Browns, Jaguars. He's mentioned Rome here. You know me and Jason if you listen to the previous pod are pretty high on the Jaguars this season and I like the Jaguars to win this game. But I'm going to take the Cleveland Browns getting eight and a half. Look, this is the first game of the season for everybody. None of the starters really played at all. We've seen right now a lot of rusty play from these teams coming out. I think anybody kind of favored over a touchdown or more is probably going to struggle a bit this week to cover. So I'm going to go with the Browns. Talented team, good defense to keep it close. But ultimately I like the Jaguars to pull this one out 24:20 but I'll take the Browns plus eight and a half on the road. [00:03:11] Speaker A: Nice, Jason. [00:03:14] Speaker C: It's a very sound argument coming out of the preseason where not people are, are, are not playing all their starters not getting the proper reps in. But I, I think this is going to be a DeSean Watson disaster class in this game and you're going to get a bunch of turnovers. And so I'm going to take the Jags even with all these points, minus eight and a half. [00:03:37] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm gonna actually agree with Jason here. I think this is a no contest. It's gonna be a bloodbath and I'm gonna have to get this off my screen pretty early. I got the Jags minus eight and a half as well. Next game, Bucks Bengals. Bengals actually favored by three and a half, 50 and a half over under. So expect a shootout and I do expect a shootout. I actually got this thing over the 50 and a half for this game. Aaron, what you got? [00:04:10] Speaker B: I like the home team, the Bengals here look, the Bengals traditionally have started off slow for the last I don't know how long. Barely winning games, losing games against the Patriots two years ago broke a lot of survivor circa contestants hearts that week one. But we touched on Tampa. You know the defensively they're older group, offensively a bit banged up. I expect the Bengals defense to be a top 10 to 15 unit. I think they're going to get that much more improved. To me they're going to be a lot like the Bears were last year. Plus they're going to get about 30 turnovers as a team, as a unit this year. I think that'll be one of the things that gets them to the division title and ultimately to a Super Bowl. So yes, I'm going with the Bengals week one at home minus three and a half. Joe Burrow, Jamar, Chase T. Higgins. I think they're gonna have a big game. [00:04:58] Speaker A: Jason. [00:04:59] Speaker C: Yep, I agree with Aaron on this one. Even though Tampa Bay is a very much a September team and the Bengals, as Aaron just said, are not, there's something different in Cincinnati this year. I think there's some determination to prove, to prove it right away. I think they're going to come out of the box in the shootout. You already said Rome. I think it's going to be there, but I think Cincinnati has got all the weapons to out duel them here and it'll be over the three and a half. [00:05:24] Speaker A: Yeah, I got the Bengals covering as well. If it is a close game, I still think it will be at least more than A field goal less than a touchdown for them to cover. Bengals have a phenomenal kicker as well, so they're going to get points no matter what where they're at in the field. This will be fun, though. I'm excited to see how Baker is returning back from all those injuries he had last year. Jason, you've been on him all last year and I'm a big Gerald Burrow fan, so, you know, can't wait. Next game. Ravens Colts 48 over under. Ravens favored on the road by three and a half. [00:06:05] Speaker B: Aaron Yeah, a lot of question marks for both teams coming in. Daniel Jones, what will he look like? I mean Colts got off to a great start last year. I think Joyce Jason pointed out they lost what, seven straight to end the season. Baltimore, whole new coaching staff. Jesse Mentor comes in. I think the most improved thing we're going to see from Baltimore is that defense. Jesse Mentor at his time, whether it be in college or the two years of the Chargers, has taken units that ranked in the 20s and got him in the top 10. If he can do that with Baltimore, this is likely a playoff team. The question is how good will Lamar Jackson look. I think he's going to look good in week one. I think his legs will be fresh. I don't trust Daniel Jones and the Colts here, they've got a lot of injuries to their wide outs. I'm taking the Ravens on the road as a 3 1/2 point favorite. [00:06:52] Speaker C: Jason, gonna agree with Aaron on this one. Just think there's too much for Baltimore right now. I agree with Aaron as far as getting the, the, the, the better on defense side of the ball. And I think Lamar, you like him earlier in the year when the health is there and, and he's able to be dynamic in the play. I think Aaron said in our season preview or maybe. I know, I think it was you Rome, you talked about Lamar picks essentially losing the step before you said he was going to head off to Atlanta here at think we're just focused on week one right now and I think Baltimore covers a three and a half as well. [00:07:24] Speaker A: I had this dream that he was going to Atlanta. It was like a weird like football like scenario. [00:07:28] Speaker B: Lamar fits Atlanta, man. [00:07:30] Speaker A: No, it actually works, dude. Like and, and what. And what NFL team likes black quarterbacks more than Atlanta? Washington besides Philly? Not even Washington. It's. It's Philly. Atlanta consistently have had really great black quarterbacks and I just think it would probably work there if Lamar's on Atlanta. They're a playoff team. No, [00:07:56] Speaker B: I Would say at least second or better in the division. [00:08:04] Speaker A: Yeah all right I think I messed up on my list already. Let's see where we at Falcon Steelers My Steelers hearing the disrespect from these two guys on this pod their favorite by three and a half over under 41 and a half that is low Aaron. [00:08:24] Speaker B: Yeah I mean this line is 3 1/2 on the circuit contest I think it's probably four and a half five going up after Tua was announced as being I guess out for week one and questionable whatever you want to call it he's not going to play Pinnock's we already knows how Cooper Rush steps in at center at quarterback. Excuse me I'd like the Steelers here to roll at home this is going to be a game that they should win. The Falcons have weapons but who's going to get them the ball? Pittsburgh. Give me, give me the Steelers here minus three and a half it's probably going to get up to five five and a half by the closing line but Steelers win by at least a touchdown. [00:09:01] Speaker A: Oh wow. Okay Jason. [00:09:04] Speaker C: Yeah we're probably getting the gift going by these lines as Aaron mentioned with the change in starting quarterback for Atlanta but I think regard regardless it was going to be good. I think this is where you would see Aaron Rodgers at his healthiest and the Steelers team at their healthiest so can they can come out in in the better weather here in this time and I, I would, I would probably pick the Steelers regardless but still get lucky to get the three and a [00:09:25] Speaker A: half yeah Steelers look good in the first half every year it's been like this for eight years now it's what happens in the second half of the season that's what's been breaking our hearts slowly. That's why we were okay with Mike Tomlin leaving in the first place so hopefully never thought McCarthy would be our coach but here we are hopefully bringing some of that luck that he brought over to the Cowboys packers now our team he is a Pittsburgh guy so you know we will see. I like the Steelers to win big in this one I think everyone's going to look sharp they have a great running back they have great tight ends good outlets for Rodgers Metcalf should have a bounce back gear looking as fit as ever and I just don't trust the Falcons. All right next game we have Bills Texans tighter contestant game here Bills slightly favored by a half a point. I could have sworn I was a 1/2 earlier in the week over under 45 Aaron. [00:10:31] Speaker B: Yeah I mean essentially pick Them game here, possible AFC championship game preview here. I mean, look at Josh Allen. There's one team that's given him a ton of trouble throughout the regular season in his career. It's been the Houston Texans. C.J. stroud, I mean, we'll see what he does. I mean, he's got to bounce back after last year's disappointment in the playoffs. Texans traditionally start slow. Remember, they started 0 and 3. We kind of almost rid them off and then that defense took over and they got back and got into the playoffs. But I'm going to take the Texans at home here. Look, the defense, I think, will be able to force a turnover, too. It's the best unit in the league, and I believe they'll be able to run the ball on Buffalo here in Week one. Keep the pressure off CJ Stroud. I'm going Texans as a slight underdog at home to beat the Buffalo Bills. [00:11:22] Speaker A: Jason? [00:11:24] Speaker C: Yeah, tough opener for the Bills as we just came off recording the season preview. So not ideal for the team I'm picking to the super bowl, but I think this is the type of element for Josh Allen to go in. It's on the road, but it's in a dome team. You know, for the most part, is healthy opportunity for him to put on a show here in Week one against a really good defense and what Aaron said could be, you know, an AFC championship preview or some showdown in the afc. But I'll take the Bills. [00:11:53] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm with you, Jason. I got the Bills here. They got the new OC that became the new head coach, and they got some new weapons on offense. They did get some additional guys on defense. I think Bills are going to come out flying high, showing that this is the right move and it's going to be all champagne and flowers here to start off the new year. So Bills take one on the road down in Texas. Next game, Bears. Panthers. Bears. Jay Z Bowl. [00:12:24] Speaker B: The Jay. [00:12:25] Speaker A: Jay Z Bowl. Aaron has alluded to this. Weeks ago, I should have saved that clip. Bears here by three on the road in Carolina. Good luck picking a team, Jason. And we know how your heart's going to be turning around the seams here over under 47. Aaron, you go first. [00:12:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, the Jay Z Bowl. I mean, we talked about a lot last year. We had a couple at bowl games, but we started off week one with the Jay Z Bowl. I'm really happy about this game. I mean, Bears started the week a couple weeks ago. I think it was two and a half circle line comes out at 3i. I'm high on the Bears this year as Jason has them to win the Super Bowl. But look, I'm taking Carolina plus three in this opener. Look, the Bears have some secondary problems and that's a problem against this wide out group that the Panthers have. Wow, close game. I wouldn't be surprised if we end in a push, but you're going to give me the Panthers at home week one getting a field goal. I like it. Give me Carolina plus three. The Sharps, the wise guys have been on the Lions since the line came out. I, I tend to agree. I think the Lions at home, week one, fresh, healthy, get the job done. I'll take the Lions -7 to beat the Saints. [00:18:26] Speaker A: Jason. [00:18:27] Speaker C: Yeah, I agree with Aaron on that. I think it's, you know, being in the dome. They're back, they're healthy, they're looking to make a name. You expect probably a big Jameer Gibbs game. [00:18:39] Speaker A: You know what's really funny? The irony is, like, for all the games they agreed with on Aaron, you still end up with a way better record. [00:18:47] Speaker C: You just got to find those right ones. One of the largest spreads this week over under 47 and a half. You know, I want to take the charge of the points, but what if the Cardinals just come out, make it tough. [00:19:19] Speaker B: I'm going to go Cardinals plus eight and a half. I mean, I think I touched on it earlier. I don't like a lot of these high point spreads to start the week one. I think the Cardinals can keep it close. Chargers win, but Cardinals keep it close. Keep an eye on Jeremiah 11. If he does play, I think he could have a, A nice sneaky game. Chargers figure it out in the second half and rallied for the win. But give me the Cardinals plus eight and a half. [00:19:41] Speaker A: Jason. I never feel that blowout energy from the Chargers all the time. Those games are always kind of grinded out with Jim Harbaugh. I don't know if Jeremiah Love is gonna play, but I think they do. They still got Tyler Algiers, which is a really, you know, solid backup running back, so. And then, you know, Jacoby. Jacoby could be, you know, anything can happen with Jacoby at quarterback. Could be good, could be bad. Who knows? I think enough to cover the spread here. [00:20:11] Speaker B: He's a great fantasy quarterback. Wasn't like Top five passing last year because they're always behind by like three touchdowns at halftime. [00:20:16] Speaker A: He was actually. Yeah. Aaron Huyap. [00:21:39] Speaker B: Yeah, it's up there. Rome. I mean, this line is down to three now because Brock Browers is out. So this came out. The line came out before that was announced. So I believe he's down to three at most books. But look, I'd like Miami to go into Vegas and win this game out, right? I mean, Link Willis will have a pretty decent game. If there's ever a time, if Miami's going to get, you know, the three, four, five wins, whatever they're expected to get this season, this is one of them. It's a good spot for them. I like the Dolphins to win in Vegas, so I'll take the three and a half. [00:22:09] Speaker A: Jason. [00:22:11] Speaker C: Yeah. These are one of the games the Dolphins are looking at to actually win. I think you can see a big game from Achan here. You know, Willis has got that mobility in certain spots. There's a lot of holes in this on this Vegas team still, and they're not going to be filled here in this. In this first year under the new regime. So I think this is going to be this. Miami's looking for one of their three wins, and this will be one of them right here. [00:22:35] Speaker A: I think Willis is going to come out strong and HN is my fantasy team, just like last year. That's all I'm hoping for for this week. So I Do have the Dolphins winning this. Barely covering this thing. Just, just in case. I, I, I, I think the three nap points is really nice to have in your back pocket. Over under though this would be pretty Fun to play with 41. You got to imagine this could be a 1714 type of game. You know Dolphins could end up with 21 points. Keeping it close but I would kind of lean on the under on this one as well. Commanders Eagles 44 and a half over under. Eagles here by four and a half in the afternoon. Slate Aaron. [00:23:24] Speaker B: Yeah, divisional game here. Commanders Eagles four and a half the spread. I'm taking the Commanders getting four and a half. I think it's a close game and I wouldn't be surprised if the Commanders go in there and win. Like I said, I believe Jayden Daniel's gonna have a bounce back year. He's got Diggs coming over there. They got the defensive rookie of the year. I believe in sunny styles. So I like the Commanders here getting four and a half. Wouldn't be surprised if they win outright. So give me the commanders. [00:23:53] Speaker A: All right Jason. [00:23:57] Speaker C: Think the Eagles win outright but four and a half's a lot for a team that generally plays some of these close games and you don't know when sometimes the offense disappears for Philadelphia. So I'll take the Commanders plus four and a half as well. [00:24:09] Speaker A: This, these games are pretty tough between these two guys. Four and a half is pretty nice. I had this game originally like a field goal as time expires. Eagles winning it. So I do like the four and a half in the back pocket as well. Packers Vikings. Vikings favorite by one and a half over under 46 and a half. [00:24:27] Speaker B: Aaron. No. Josh Jacobs. No. Micah Parsons. Give me the Vikings here at home. Look, they, they got to come out on the gates fired up. Kyler Murray's there, the quarterback whisper like you mentioned Kevin o'. Connell. This, this is a big game. The Vikings gotta, they gotta win it. I mean the packers might be, this might be the lowest point they get them once they play later on in the season. I like the Vikings at home. One and a half point favorite. [00:24:55] Speaker A: Jason. [00:24:57] Speaker C: Yeah, it, it's a tight one with the one and a half. I think you go either way. You know Aaron and I predicting these teams are going to be third and fourth in division, best division in football. I think Minnesota needs to get the wins as well. I think with Parsons still out, I think that to me is what flips it that I think Minnesota will take this one minus one and a half. [00:25:17] Speaker A: I'm going to go opposite with you guys. I think love got slot to prove this year more so than Kyler Murray. I just don't trust that offense yet. I do believe Vikings will have a steady defense but until I see something otherwise from Murray to give any vote of confidence, I think packers despite missing the running back and their latest defensive acquisition, I do think they still have a lot of talent and a really good coach. They have a lot to prove. So Packers I'll take that with the points. I like the win outright last game for Sunday at least. Sunday night Cowboys Giants. Cowboys favored in the middle ends by three over under 48. [00:26:10] Speaker B: Aaron yeah another divisional game Sunday night hardballs debut as a New York Giants coach. Cowboys coming in there with that explosive offense. I mean based off the preview we did earlier I got the Cowboys winning the division, Giants finishing last. But I'm taking the Giants here Sunday night to win outright I think and cover the three points. So I'm going to take Giants plus three. Jackson Dart. I don't know if he's a franchise quarterback but he has that it factor for some games. He shows up, he balls out. I think he's going to be fired up for this one. And the Cowboys are missing one of their better offensive linemen against an elite defensive pass rush. I think the Giants come out ready, focused. Giants get the victory here on Sunday night in an upset. Give me the Giants plus three. [00:26:56] Speaker A: Jason [00:26:58] Speaker C: yeah, I went back and forth on this one. The being favored on the road in the metal Meadowlands is a weird stadium man where things, weird things just happen especially at night to Aaron's point. I think the Chiefs have something to play for after what the disaster was last year. Aaron talked in our preview of like the Age of Kelsey and some of the things in the roster is rebuilding. This is where they're going to kind of be at their best here. But Homes, you know, still recovering from his injury last year, but I still think there's enough in it. Aaron was right.
