[00:00:04] Speaker A: What's up everybody? Another edition of Sources from the Sofa. We got Aaron and Jay Z on the pod today. Full starting lineup and a lot has gone down over the weekend. We have NBA draft right now. We're actually recording Tuesday night just before 8pm Pacific Time. We're almost wrapped up with the first round. Some interesting trades, you know, a little bit of a, of a switcheroo for like the first five picks. Pretty interesting. We'll kind of dig into that. Aaron has some pluses and minuses of who he's digging in the draft so far. We also got World Cup USA showed out in another performance. Really impressive. I really like this coach, man. They cannot let this coach go. There's been interviews popping up about how he's kind of changed the culture, being more aggressive and it's. [00:00:54] Speaker B: Are you going to the game up there? July 1, Rome, the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, whatever it's called now. [00:01:00] Speaker A: I wish. Dude, I will jerk off a monkey for a ticket. I would do whatever it takes to get in that game, but you know, no one has given me the opportunity to. [00:01:08] Speaker C: Your friends with the Qatari government couldn't secure you to take another ticket or. [00:01:13] Speaker A: No, he secured tickets for Seattle, but it's just like round trip flights. [00:01:18] Speaker B: I believe they're in Seattle for the next one after. So you might be going there for the round of 16 if they can get past the 32. Rome. [00:01:25] Speaker A: Yeah. Now the Qatar hookup link. [00:01:28] Speaker B: I heard Jason's going to the final eight if, if they're at Sofi or Los Angeles Stadium. [00:01:35] Speaker C: Well, that was, you know, that was part of the goal. But as I mentioned before we started the pod. [00:01:39] Speaker B: Oh yeah, he left his wallet in Arizona. [00:01:41] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, there was, there was some betting. There was a little betting and it was like, hey, can we build up? And I had some success with the Germany game. And then you know, when Turkey goes a man down and you figure this is an easy win for Turkey because I've much herald him then being, you know, potentially one of the teams that should have won the group with the US and they got to play this Paraguay team that gave up, you know, four goals versus the US in game one, four, five, whatever it was. I was like, you figured Turkey's going to, going to come out and play and then they give away that early goal and then they get the red card on Paraguay and playing them. You know, I said, hey, they're on the power play. I was texting when they're on the power play for like 60 minutes or something like that. They don't get anything. So, yeah, my World cup quarterfinal dream may have come to an end there, but we'll see. I mean, we'll go. My cousin from Boston texted me, like, hey, what. What are your thoughts about flying out to Boston? Here. Go to Foxborough for the Germany game in the round of 32 next Monday. But I thought he was giving you [00:02:37] Speaker B: trade tips on Jaylen Brown, where he's gonna end up, but to that, too, now. [00:02:42] Speaker C: I mean, I'll ask him about that a little later, but now we're talking about maybe the Germany first round game, so. I don't know. Lot of good intrigue. We got soccer on every night. It's great. [00:02:50] Speaker A: A lot of soccer, man. It's the most. I've. I've actually been, like, peeping in, like, almost every game if I'm on the road. Just. I got on my phone. Now I know why they ban TVs. Inside cars, man. There's been a few close calls. I've been like, oh, about to go off the road, man. Been pretty fun. I. I did miss the England game today, but I kind of figured that might be a draw, and it was. I wouldn't have bet on it, but Ghana was, like, surprisingly pretty athletic, and I don't know. That was gonna be a tough matchup [00:03:18] Speaker B: playing that prevent defense, man, they kept England out of the net. [00:03:21] Speaker A: I'm surprised. It was actually a draw.00. [00:03:24] Speaker B: But England should have had at least one or two there. [00:03:26] Speaker A: I'm gonna watch highlights later on. They don't really show a lot of highlights in between these games. It's always. I don't know, they're lacking in the highlight department. Oh, who's this hosting? [00:03:36] Speaker C: If you're. If you're watching the Fox coverage, I think the highlights are there. I think that's been one of the big media controversies that Fox apparently is complaining that ESPN is not doing next to no World cup highlights on a nightly basis right now. Not making this a bigger deal that it is. So I know there's a lot of, you know, sports media drama about that. [00:03:55] Speaker A: Yeah, there's a lot of drama. We'll kind of dig into some of that. I'm just trying to see who's hosting the Fox show right now anyways. I get distracted really easily. [00:04:04] Speaker C: Some good Twitter memes, though, about. About England not performing today, where it's like, england, England notoriously struggling in Massachusetts, and they have 1776 and 2026. [00:04:16] Speaker A: That's good. Oh, man, that's actually kind of funny, actually. You never know. Could be like the old ghost of past just, like, hanging around the team. Maybe that's what it was. [00:04:26] Speaker B: Well, it's interesting they said that as well, but I think England, over their last four major competitions, in all group stages, they've had a 00 draw. So going back to like 20, 20, 21, 22, €24 and all that now. Yeah, it's like four straight 00 draws in the group stage. [00:04:43] Speaker A: This is a very interesting World cup because you got like, some underdogs performing pretty well. You have some of the powerhouses not performing as well. All of a sudden, eyes are all the US like, oh, when did they learn how to play, like, all technical and aggressive, you know. So really interesting World cup so far. [00:04:59] Speaker C: I know there's been some commentary. It just seems a little more watered down. They allow these extra teams. You got these guys scoring, you know, two. Two goals in a game and you got some blowouts here and there. But honestly, I think it's. It's given. I think there's been. It felt. It feels, at least for us, I mean, novice in America from a World cup perspective. But it's been great from a television viewing experience. Like you said Rome, I mean, there's what, four games a day we get. So it's basically a continuous soccer window that we've got where there's stuff constantly going on. I think there's been some definite blowouts and seeing some goals, which, I mean, from an American fan, you like to see the goals and you get, you know, I guess, some blowouts. But you've also got some stunners in some countries that you thought, like, you know, which you had, you know, I was talking about Uruguay, but, like, you had Cape Verde, like, I don't know what population there, you know, but they were, you know, competitive to a certain, you know, with them. So, I mean, there's just been a lot of. A lot of different stuff that I think you probably wouldn't have expected. I know, like the World Cup. Historically, what have eight countries have ever won the World Cup? You pretty much get some predominant power with it. But hey, there's a little more drama when, you know, you know, England's not doing as well. Brazil didn't look great the first game. You know, some questions about, you know, certain games. But, I mean, in the end, it's probably going to be like, France, Spain, anyways. But, you know, but so far, I'm hoping pretty entertaining. [00:06:14] Speaker A: I'm hoping it's Spain. I can care less about France. I hope they lose. [00:06:18] Speaker C: Well, no, I think the cool thing from an American side, this almost gives it, like, it gives it a little bit of the March Madness feel, I guess, because, you know, we don't remember March Madness as much for the final four. The lead eight, man. It's the first two. It's, it's. It's the first two days that. Thursday, great, you know. You know, Thursday through Saturday, where you're getting just games and games and games where it's at. [00:06:39] Speaker A: Yeah, right. [00:06:39] Speaker C: So the group stays where it's at. Once we get to the knockout of the tournament, you know, it'll just be stuff in prime time, maybe a little less. We'll get more space in between the game. But I think this is kind of like, hey, the peak time where we just get a big inventory of the game and there's drama and storylines and even if we don't get a good game, you know, I think there was a game a day a couple weeks ago, like it was all draws one day, and I was coming off a game that was just like all these, like, crazy, like, scoring games. So I think there's just been equal storyline to go to go to each thing. [00:07:06] Speaker A: Yeah, people have been pretty tough. Media on Portugal, they bounced back pretty big today. Cristiano had two goals, almost a hat trick, but he gave up the opportunity to shoot penalty. 5, 0. The game on Sunday, right? Or was this Monday? Norway, Senegal. That was a really good game. Senegal almost came back. That was exciting. The second half, I think it was a draw right in the first half and then all the goals were scored in the second half. That was really fun. Jordan, Algeria. Yesterday was great. Argentina, Messi, they. To me, they look like the strongest team so far. And Messi and the whole team, they're looking, they're. They're playing really loose. They already got a World cup belt now and they're looking really flawless and playing really nice. Iraway and Cabo Verde, man, that was amazing to see another draw out of them as their first points. The World cup back to back jaws. No one's seen it coming. I think they only had like 3 million people in the whole country and it's squeezing like two, two miles. So it's very populated for like two miles, but it's like the third smallest country ever to make it into the World Cup. I wasn't sure what to think when they were going to expand it a little more because you don't want to water it down. But these little countries are like. Teams haven't been there in a while. Especially the Arabic Countries and some African countries, they've been, you know, pulling some punches. So it's almost like a little Rocky 4 vibe, you know, going down here. So I'm digging it. Belgium and Iran, or Iran didn't see that one being a draw either. That was crazy. [00:08:29] Speaker B: Belgium's really struggled, man. [00:08:31] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm not liking them right now. I'm not liking them. [00:08:34] Speaker B: They haven't even scored a goal. I think the only goal was an own goal that somebody scored. So Was it number 10 ranked FIFA team? They could be in trouble. I, I do think they're going to win this next game in advance, but [00:08:44] Speaker A: we'll see there are in trouble as well. Let's see what other Games popped up. USA 2o against Australia. It wasn't pretty as much as the first game, but at least they were aggressive in the second half. Mexico, South Korea. That was only 1 0. That was last Thursday. That was fun though. That was. [00:09:02] Speaker B: I think Rome. We talked about that for the final 20 minutes. South Korea, like literally should have scored the equalizer. [00:09:08] Speaker A: They should have like half a dozen chances, man. They were. It was right there. That was really exciting. [00:09:13] Speaker B: Was that the game? That was the game where the goalie made two saves right for Mexico. He made the save on his back. He basically put his hands up, blocked [00:09:22] Speaker A: it, and then the bulb came back, somehow contorted his. The top half of his body and was able to grab it with his two hands. Like, amazing, amazing. [00:09:34] Speaker B: I mean, we're not even talking about the curacao goalie with 15 shots on goals. Save 15. [00:09:40] Speaker A: Crazy. [00:09:40] Speaker B: I don't know how Ecuador did not have at least three goals in the back of the net. [00:09:44] Speaker A: I was watching the game. Amazing goalkeeping and it's like, from like these. These guys are actually 40, 41 years old. That's even crazier, man. We're having like some guys, you know, playing out, you know, some awesome World cup games here. It's pretty awesome to see. [00:09:59] Speaker C: Aaron, did you see there was a bet out there? I don't know, something post on. I had like a bet of two. [00:10:05] Speaker A: It was a. [00:10:06] Speaker C: It was a parlay with two Messi goals, two Mbappe goals to Holland goals and two Harry Kane goals. [00:10:11] Speaker B: Oh. [00:10:11] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:10:14] Speaker B: What were the odds on that? [00:10:16] Speaker C: I think it was a. It was a 500 wager for a payout of $796,000. [00:10:21] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:10:22] Speaker C: And so, and so like he was like, Messi, Mbappe and Holland all, all had two goals in going into that England game. [00:10:32] Speaker B: He should have had one. Kane should have had at least one. [00:10:34] Speaker C: The cash out, though. The guy could have cashed out for a hundred thousand like early. But I don't. I'm guessing he didn't. [00:10:40] Speaker B: I mean, the thing that sucks about doing a player prop like that is you can't really. You can't really hedge your bet. Unless I guess you bet him not to score a goal, then you can come back. But yeah, I mean, there's going to be yes or no. Will he score a go goal or maybe one and a half? You could bet the other way and bet under. So, I mean, that's what I would have done going to that game. If you could find it. [00:11:00] Speaker A: That's amazing. [00:11:01] Speaker B: Yep. [00:11:02] Speaker A: That's a crazy bet. [00:11:04] Speaker B: I mean. [00:11:04] Speaker A: Yeah, well, I wasn't intending to talk messy. [00:11:08] Speaker B: Messi got that second goal, what, with one minute left, basically in stoppage time. [00:11:12] Speaker A: Right. [00:11:12] Speaker B: Right there at the end. [00:11:13] Speaker A: One minute. He missed the pen. [00:11:15] Speaker B: Penalty. [00:11:15] Speaker A: Could have got another hat trick. Dude, that guy's just like. He just knows how to touch the ball. He's just so majestic with it. Passing right. [00:11:25] Speaker B: He should have thrown Ronaldo in there instead of Kane. It probably would have been a million dollar payout. [00:11:31] Speaker A: You're right, dude. Probably. Dude, that have been crazy. Wrong guy, I guess. [00:11:35] Speaker B: 500 bucks. That guy's got money to spend, so I'm not really too worried about him. He's blowing that kind of cash on that part. [00:11:40] Speaker A: Yeah, he's good. He's fine. Yeah. It was a long shot. If he had 500. The blow on that is. Is that what you were doing? Jason doing 500 bets all weekend? Is that. Is that what. He can't go to the game now? [00:11:51] Speaker B: If Jason's doing 500 bets like that, then he's really been holding out on his Rome. [00:11:55] Speaker A: Yeah, dude, that's all I'll say. [00:11:57] Speaker C: Maybe a couple. [00:11:58] Speaker A: Yeah. We got the final game in group stage coming up this weekend. I think that starts on Friday or tomorrow. [00:12:05] Speaker B: Tomorrow, Right. I think we got six games going to the end of the weekend. Right. [00:12:08] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:12:09] Speaker B: Tomorrow. [00:12:09] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah. So it gets cracking. USA playing turkey. How do you pronounce it now? [00:12:17] Speaker B: Turkey A, Turkey A. I don't know. I just call it Turkey because that's how it. But yeah, some of these countries have kind of added or took off half their name from their team names originally. Yeah. [00:12:29] Speaker C: I mean. Or we've just been pronouncing Iran the whole time and we're just getting around to the proper pronunciation in America. [00:12:34] Speaker A: Well, I kind of like it how they kind of put like the. The Names in our native, you know, language. You know, some of these countries. That's new. [00:12:42] Speaker C: Yep. [00:12:43] Speaker A: Civil. [00:12:43] Speaker C: A big, a big slate on. A big slate on Thursday. But yeah, you got Wednesday and Thursday. So. But I think Brazil, Brazil, Scotland probably one of the headliners. And then I think just Mexico and, and Chechia. But Brazil, I mean Mexico's already in. I think, I think we're still to the point. Oh no, Canada did. [00:13:02] Speaker A: Mexico's in. Yeah, they won their group already. [00:13:04] Speaker C: Yeah. But I mean you can see the scenario where I guess the three host countries of the US Mexico and Canada all, you know, getting, getting to the next round. [00:13:14] Speaker A: Yeah, Thursday looks really good. Paraguay and Australia, big match. Curacao and Cote Aver. That's early in the Ecuador, Germany got some crunch time ones. There's so many draws like a lot of these guys have to do just get points now to try to get through. So it's pretty fun. [00:13:35] Speaker B: And then that's Sweden, Japan. Sweden Japan would be good too. Yeah, really well in this. Japan's played really well in this tournament. [00:13:43] Speaker A: Yeah, they look really good, dude. [00:13:45] Speaker C: And still a lot of stake. You only got Germany, the U.S. mexico, Argentina are the only ones that have secured a spot. So. [00:13:52] Speaker A: Damn, that is crazy. Any project predictions going to the weekend usa, do you think? They're obviously going to sit some guys out to not get any yellow cards, but I'm guessing they're still going to be pretty aggressive and try to get three wins in the group stage for the first time ever. [00:14:12] Speaker C: I, I don't know. I mean, I think, I think it was Landon Donovan said it on maybe his Dan Patrick show or something like that that he was on. As far as a strategy would be like to really sit all the starters, you get, you put, you put the whole bench in and let them, you know, get logged the minutes, get, you know, the experience, get the play. You know, make sure like as you said, like the starters make sure you have rest A, but B, like no red cards or unnecessary stuff, they can wound up with potential suspensions in the knockout rounds. But I think, you know, if you get, if you're able to pull off a win and you give all a bunch of guys a bunch of playing time, I think that's a, that's a big win for the United States. But really this game has, it has no stakes for them because they're locked into their spot already. [00:14:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean basically what Jason said, I mean you don't want any guys getting another yellow card missing the game. Turkey A has been a disappointment. They're probably going to come out play physical anyways. [00:15:02] Speaker A: I think so. [00:15:03] Speaker B: I mean, they don't want to go out losing all three games here being a disappointment in this tournament. So that's an interesting game. Turkey A's underdog, so they're good value. Ivory coast, they've been pretty impressed. I mean, Ecuador, I mean, they've gotten what, two draws, they've got 60 shots, no goals. Basically in this tournament, Germany's already advanced through. That's a two and a half over, under. I think it's gonna be a lot of goals scored in that game. So I'm gonna probably go over two and a half in that one. Ecuador's got to put one or two in the back of the net and it's gonna be an open game. Germany should be able to score too. [00:15:35] Speaker A: What do you guys think about the. I've actually been pretty active on Twitter or X rather, and threads. I was listening to Alexi Lawless the other day, man, and I just couldn't do it anymore. It. He provided no, no depth to the commentary of the games. Like, oh, you just gotta play hard. You know, it was just, just. It was just complete lame. I think Henry and Zlatan, they kind of backed off a little bit. Maybe they got a talk into for like the Fox Sports bosses because I think like Lawless had like a day off and then he came back to the thing. But it's not the same though. It's like Lawless is now, I don't know, maybe his, like his ego has taken a step back, which might be a good thing actually, because we don't need any more commentary from him. But any comments on that little beef brewing over there? [00:16:17] Speaker C: Well, I'm pretty sure. I think it was the athletic or I think in the New York, through the New York Times, there was an article just about Lawless and athletic part [00:16:27] Speaker A: and slots and like they said Slot's like an arrogant. And. And Lawless is just a typical American idiot. Like the one that looked good was a French guy. [00:16:35] Speaker C: Well, yeah, but I think, yeah, because it was basically. It was, it was, yeah, Tierra versus versus Lawless, where I think the article is basically like, you know, the, the French aristocrat versus the. Yeah, whatever American they call Lawless on that. But yeah, I think there's been a long, a long campaign against Alexi Lawless being like the face of American broadcast soccer. I don't know why and, and where. Yeah, I think that's a lot of the questions. I don't think he. And I think this is what maybe exposed him in this World cup was, you know, the what he was bringing as far as an analysis. And then when you pair him against some like world renowned players with big credentials and what this is, you know, nothing heated wrong, but like, hey, this is the best American has to offer. But you're gonna come in and be, you know, trying to be, I guess a, you know, I guess a controversial, you know, take or you're trying to give like just, I don't know, it's, it's. You're not giving any analysis or technical stuff about the game. You're just more giving just these, you know, generic, you know, things that like any of us can say, like us three not watching soccer, like, yeah, these guys just really didn't bring the attack in the first half and they got to do better. And da, da, da, da, da. Like, I, I don't think it's providing something versus what, what Henry was giving some, you know, very, you know, technical aspects of it. And, and it's just different, I think. And, and Lawless, for that matter, I think he's been around this broadcast for USA Soccer for a while and just, I think there's just been some better voices where this one's kind of just tired because he just, he's not giving something. But yeah, I mean, you could tell it was online the, this Laton when he wasn't there and he said, you're welcome, America. [00:18:07] Speaker A: I love that. I was watching that live. [00:18:10] Speaker B: I was like, whoa. [00:18:12] Speaker C: So I'm sure he did get the talking too. But the other day, I think, I don't think Loton gives a crap on what's going on there. I mean, that, that broadcast did get better because I'll be honest, the first day I watched it, I was like, man, Rebecca Low is doing the he and she's the host. She does, she did a great job. Sports is soccer. Yeah, she does NBC sports stuff for the Premier League. I, you know, don't watch soccer all the time, but whenever I watch it, I think she's like a great host and like that first, the first couple days, like, man, she's doing the heavy lifting with this group. Because I was like, man, I, I didn't really know about, you know, any of them on that panel when they were doing it, but I think Henri set himself apart. Zlatan started being even more entertaining. I think what made Lawless odd Man out. And I was like, ah, I don't know where this goes. So you me, you may see the last, you know, kind of point of Lawless being the point man on this for the World cup and whether the different voices are. But I don't. I don't know if America's really got, like, what the voice could be. I know. I think Taylor Twelveman on espn, you know, does some pretty good stuff here and there. [00:19:05] Speaker A: Pretty good. [00:19:07] Speaker C: Landon Donovan a little better. [00:19:09] Speaker B: He's at the games, calling the games, right? Yeah. So, yeah, yeah. [00:19:12] Speaker A: Dom's a broadcaster. He is a little whiny about American soccer, though, all the time. So it's kind of like a little negative. He's, I guess he'd be like the Charles Barkley, like, meets, like, I don't know, somebody else. [00:19:22] Speaker C: But it's. It's. I think it's tough for the US to really have something because when we don't have. We don't have the Premier Soccer League, it's the Premier League and even, you know, the other countries and when you're talking about. We don't have these guys, like, you know, the inside. The NBA crew or something with, you know, football, like, we have the MLS and so we don't have the guys that are talking to this on a daily basis. So from a U. S. Perspective, we're getting this one platform to big soccer tournaments and asking some for analysis. I don't know. I don't know who we're developing. That's going to be the personality, like, that's coming behind it. I think you had, you know, Clint Dempsey, I know, was at the games and stuff. I don't know if he's got the voice behind it, but I don't know. It's been interesting, but I think. I think there's been a long swell of, like, industry people against Alexi Lawless, probably soccer fans against. [00:20:07] Speaker A: I think this might be the end. [00:20:08] Speaker B: Well, he's been. How many years has he been the face of the World cup for the [00:20:11] Speaker A: US For a while, man. He's been on TV for a while. [00:20:13] Speaker B: This is the turn of the century, right? Pretty much, yeah. [00:20:16] Speaker C: I would think so. I mean, I remember for. For me, I would say, like, when I think back to the South African World cup, it was the one on espn. I think it was a. A good broadcast that they did. I think he was part of that. That's. That's my memory of it, but I'm sure it was dating farther back than that. [00:20:30] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, when we talked about this, was it yesterday or the day before on the phone? Like, he doesn't. He doesn't bring anything to the table outside of the fact that, you know, we got to go out there, we got to bite down on the mouthpiece, we got to show them America toughness and just go out there and win the game. [00:20:46] Speaker A: That's. [00:20:46] Speaker B: That's basically all he says. It's just like a fake fire up speech where you're like, well, like, how [00:20:50] Speaker A: are we going to do that? Yeah. [00:20:52] Speaker B: Playing American tough brand soccer. [00:20:55] Speaker A: It just makes it seem like. [00:20:56] Speaker B: It says. [00:20:56] Speaker A: It just makes it seem like he actually doesn't watch the sport, which is weird. [00:21:01] Speaker B: I think he spends more time in the makeup room than he does watching the sport roll. [00:21:05] Speaker A: And I know he was like the bad guy, you know, got in trouble, like smoked pot, you know, was on the national team, whatever, back in the day. But, but you gotta put in the homework. And it doesn't seem like he's putting any homework. He's just living off this whatever bravado and people are tired of it. [00:21:20] Speaker C: Well, I think that's where you see the difference when you have, you know, you're going against a guy that played in the top, the top leagues of the, of the country or of, of the world and in the biggest. In the biggest country leagues. And, and then, and he's been in these situations where, hey, Lawless played for a bad US team back in the mid-90s that did nothing, you know, in the last time we hosted this. And it's like, okay, I'm not saying just your, your play. I mean, a lot, a lot of great commentators weren't the best players and they know the details of the game. I mean, there was st. Like, you know, I. JJ Redick was like a, A good, A good NBA player. It wasn't like a Hall of Famer in the name, but when he was an analyst before he was a coach, [00:21:58] Speaker A: like, he knew, he knew the game, though. Yeah. [00:22:01] Speaker C: The breakdown of stuff, you get down behind it. I think there was something like extra to it when you get it. And I think it's, it's a different. And when you come to these mediums from a broadcast perspective, I think there, there's a, there's a level of homework and excellence you need to put into this performance too. I think Tom Brady's probably. I think my example where people crapped all over Brady in that first year of what he was. But like, I watched Brady this year, you can tell he put work in and I thought he was like, so much better. And I think there's guys that have, you know, crafted this art and there's something different than knowing the game and Be able to broadcast and communicate things well. And it just, you know, the voice just becomes old and we're looking for something more. And when it comes to America, were great at pretty much everything. Soccer, we've never proven it. So just saying we're gonna do all the America. You know, we play hard and we gotta get, you know, but that just doesn't wave. [00:22:53] Speaker B: I think you used to get away with that because no one really, like, cared, right? [00:22:56] Speaker A: Yeah. But now people want more technical knowledge. [00:22:59] Speaker B: Watch it. It's bigger. [00:23:00] Speaker A: So what I would like to see though is like, if like maybe Pat McAfee, because he's a big soccer guy like you, you just need like, like a football person because we do college football really well. That's like the only sport we do like really, really well. Fanfare, tailgating, all that stuff. [00:23:13] Speaker B: An American sport. Right. [00:23:14] Speaker A: If we can get somebody like that to kind of help lead soccer here in the US it's going to help so much more. Like, like, like let's bring that culture over to the soccer and, and you know, and, and blow it up, man. I would like to see that. [00:23:29] Speaker C: No, I agree. I, I don't think it could be a McAfee, though. It's going to have to be someone that plays, that plays the game. That's, that's going to be out there. That's going to be a, that's going to be a name and brought through that's kind of. And it may take some generations. Like this is supposed to be. This team was the build up over the last eight years, us hosting this. And we have the, I think they called the golden generation right now, where you got these group of young kids that saw this team, you know, make a significant step eight years ago. And, you know, soccer's bigger than it ever has been in our country. A lot of these guys on this team are playing in the biggest leagues in Europe and they go against the best competition. It's not just a bunch of guys who are good in mls, but they, hey, they go up, they play in La Liga, they play in the Premier League, they play in the Italian League. And so they go against the best in the world. And we have guys that compete. So now I think maybe then you're getting the next generation of guys that when these, when they're done, hey, they could be talking at a different level. And if one of them is a personality, I don't know if we have the personality yet. Maybe it's, maybe it's piscic intense plus years or something, but I don't, [00:24:30] Speaker A: I don't know, maybe he's grow into it. [00:24:31] Speaker B: He might be able to grow into it. [00:24:32] Speaker A: I was like, yeah, Tom Brady wasn't much of a personality. Look at him. He's. Well, if he marries a supermodel it might help. [00:24:39] Speaker C: There's a lot, there's a lot to it. But again, we're only us in the, and I think we speak for the American soccer audience. Like we're watching the World cup right now. This is the biggest deal. We're all in. We're all usa. We're all experts at, you know, watching these random countries play up with guys we've never heard, heard of for the most part going in. You know, what's the momentum to keep? And I, I do think this will keep a certain amount of momentum with the soccer. I mean as, as much as we probably don't talk about it because it's the fifth sport, MLS continues to grow at a crazy rapid rate, making fast the franchises like the San Diego FC like it's in their second year right now. They almost went to the MLS championship this last year. You know, there's buy in from a supporter's perspective. You saw, you know, Miami and what they've turned into and like the, the loyal fans of these clubs are loyal and they make them valuable properties and I think it'll continue to garner attention. It's just always going to be a step off because we're just not that we're not the top league. You know, we're, we're a step down and so we're, and we're going to get guys that are maybe on the back end but I think it'll continue to grow. [00:25:41] Speaker A: That's growing. Yeah. Yeah. I'm really looking forward to the next U.S. game and seeing what Porchettino has in store. Let's take a quick break, come back, let's talk all the stuff. NBA. Is there any other drama besides NBA? That's it, huh? [00:26:00] Speaker C: No, no. The Blackhawks made a trade today that's getting roasted on Twitter. I mean that's. [00:26:04] Speaker A: Besides that. I know there's been some NHL Chuck [00:26:08] Speaker B: brothers partnering up in Florida. [00:26:10] Speaker A: Yeah, that went down the other day and their dad just made it the hall of Fame. Right. Or is that somebody else? [00:26:16] Speaker B: There was something about that, yeah. [00:26:18] Speaker A: All right, forget it. All right. We'll take a quick break. We'll be back. [00:26:20] Speaker B: Edit that part out. [00:26:27] Speaker A: All right. We are back to talk a little NBA first as the NBA draft is underway right now. It is just before 8:30 in case you sped up to this section. We do talk about a little World cup soccer, Alexi Lawless and all the drama in the Fox Sports studio. So that's fun. But the trades started going off just a couple days ago. Where is Giannis going? I was kind of hoping my Lakers might have like some ace in their back pocket, pull a trade out of their ass somewhere. [00:26:57] Speaker B: Long shot. That would have been a big trade, [00:26:59] Speaker A: dude, no one's going to give them that. I already know that they're going to probably see some fallout from the Luca trade for a while. But the big trade I thought was, was pretty big was. It kind of caught me off guard was a Julius Randle. That was the first domino to fall. He gets traded the Brooklyn Nets in a three team trade. I didn't like the trade for anybody, to be honest with you. I don't like him going to Brooklyn. I don't like who the Timberwolves got. I think they got somebody from Chicago and then they got the 33 pick. Bulls got Nick Claxton. [00:27:31] Speaker B: I like that picking for the Bulls. [00:27:33] Speaker A: It's a good pick for the Bulls. I think he fits nicely. But you know, and I can't remember who they sent out but a really wishy washy trade here and then I [00:27:44] Speaker B: think free of really money more than anything, right? [00:27:46] Speaker A: I think so, yeah. I think they want to get away. I, I know they have what's his face, the younger guy on, on the tables. They want to resign him to a bigger contract. I think he's due. [00:27:55] Speaker B: He did sign them. I think they sent him a five year, like 112 million dollar or four year of a team option for the fifth for like 120, 112 million. [00:28:05] Speaker A: Yeah, I think I freed up like about like. Yeah, it freed up like what, 33 million for the, for the. [00:28:10] Speaker B: Yeah, I think they got like 50. They got like a 15 to 20 million kind of mid level exception. Now they got. [00:28:15] Speaker A: Yeah, that's pretty big. [00:28:17] Speaker B: Yeah, it's pretty big. [00:28:17] Speaker A: So I'm really kind of curious what they're gonna go through. There's been some rumors they maybe there's like a bigger play. I know Timberwolves was one destination that Giannis said he would be willing to sign an extension with along with the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heats. I'm not sure how you guys like that trade, but then the other trade was the one that went down last night, late at night. That's Giannis going to the Miami Heat. I gotta be honest man, I was not a big fan of this Trade. Not a big fan at all, you know. Yeah, the Miami Hemming Heat get Giannis and I think the addition of Bobby Portis, that's pretty big. Bobby Portis is a big baller, but the Bucks just got a hodgepodge of everybody else that's on a team that, you know, did decent last year. Surprisingly. Ty Tyler, Hero is the, is the biggest star in that package. He's, it's a homecoming for him. He grew up in Milwaukee. Jaime Jacques, how are you? Haquez, UCLA Bruin alumni. [00:29:21] Speaker B: Six man. Six man of your nominee. [00:29:24] Speaker A: Yeah, solid guy. I feel like maybe he was like, I know he has some injury issues, maybe a little underutilized this past year and then a bunch of picks first round clear as well. They got three first round picks, a couple pick swaps and I think a couple second rounds included as well. [00:29:43] Speaker B: Well, they got, they picked one of the picks tonight, Rome, which I like. That is a good, I think a good player for them. Possibly walkie. [00:29:50] Speaker A: Who they got? [00:29:50] Speaker B: Yeah, they got from, from Miami. [00:29:54] Speaker A: They got Nate Amit, Nate Almond from Tennessee. Why do you like that pickup? [00:29:59] Speaker B: Long athletic wing player, kind of like, [00:30:04] Speaker A: kind of like a Giannis. [00:30:05] Speaker B: I think it's gonna be a bit like a high. I'm not saying he's gonna be as good, but he's a bit of a hybrid like a Kevin durant. [00:30:09] Speaker A: Oh, okay. [00:30:10] Speaker B: 610 can handle the ball, can shoot, can pit it on the deck. Gotta add some size and strength. But I, I like them. I, I think it's a good pickup for them. [00:30:21] Speaker A: Nice. Overall, were you guys shocked that Giannis eventually went to Miami? Basically the whole team's gutted now they have a couple guys. They have to sign up a few guys as well. And I'm not really sure. Maybe this looks good like 20 years ago when you could just put a hodgepodge of like role players but with the second apron and like this, it's gonna be hard to fill out that roster and they still have to resign guys with not a lot of space left. So. Thoughts on that, Aaron? [00:30:48] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean they got some, I mean Norman Powell, that's a big guys they're going to be able to sign or not. So I mean we'll see what happens there. I mean they lost what hero you mentioned, but I mean if you look at their defense kind of a lineup they got, I mean they needed to improve on defense and we all know about Miami Spoelstra, those guys. If you want to win in the NBA, you got to be a good defensive team. Obviously, the Heat last year, I think they said they averaged like 120 points a game, but probably we're giving up like 122 because they didn't. They didn't even what? They finished the 10th seed in the East. I mean, that's pretty bad. I mean, and they've been basically sitting there 7, 8, 9, 10 for a while. I know Jason sent the text out last night about the trade and I mentioned, you know, Pat Riley, he doesn't mess around. This guy always is big game hunting. He's always looking to get a star. You know, he went out, got Shaq, won a title, went out, got LeBron won a title. Now, you know, he's getting towards the end of his road. Jan is probably getting toward the end of his road, too. He's missed, what, a lot of time over the last two years. So, I mean, look at Miami's going for it now. Pit some, you know, pit some young players, get some veterans, some guys that can shoot. And basically, defensively, they're going to be good. We know, bam. His offensive game has gotten better. He scored what, 83 points in a game this year. Giannis, we know, could still score if he can stay on the floor. But, yeah, they got to add some wing shooters. We'll see what they can add. I mean, there is no state tax. Everybody still wants to play in Miami. Now you got a star there. There's a real chance. I mean, they already moved up to, I believe, number five and all the NBA odds, futures to win the title. [00:32:16] Speaker A: That's crazy. That was. That's crazy. [00:32:17] Speaker B: Basically out of the mix now. They're behind New York, okc, San Antonio. They're right there in that mix. So, yeah, I mean, I like to trade for Miami, Rome, we talked about. I didn't think Giannis was going to go to Boston because, I mean, I don't think. I think Milwaukee kind of the same, was afraid that Jaylen Brown would not sign an extension. That was kind of whatever their hesitancy was. And the draft capital that they get. Yeah, for Miami was better. [00:32:40] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:32:40] Speaker B: Minnesota would have made the most sense, but they didn't want to part ways with Jaden McDaniels, which I said, if they did, they get them. They didn't want to. And Pat Riley's like, hey, look, I'm 80 years old. I'm tired of being 7, 8, 9, 10 seed in the East. The east is open. I mean, the Knicks want it, but the Knicks are going to lose. Mitchell, Robinson, sham it, those guys. So with the new NBA cba, like you talked about, Rome. And new champions on. On the horizon likely again. So, yeah, I like the move for both Milwaukee and Miami. [00:33:07] Speaker A: I'm hoping Robinson, by the way, comes the Lakers. I think that'd be a great option for Luca to kind of lob towards the basket, but. All right. So you like it? Norman Powell is a pretty big one. I know he's solid. He had a great year with the Clippers, ended up in Miami. That's really huge. Andrew Wiggins was really big in the Golden State's championship run in 22. I think he has a player option, but I'm not sure if the math is math and. But I don't think that the fifth [00:33:33] Speaker B: best overall, I wouldn't say they are either. [00:33:37] Speaker A: That's crazy. I wouldn't even put them in top five in the east, like maybe five to seven range. [00:33:44] Speaker C: I think there's just so many question marks in the east because you don't know how the Pacers are going to come back. You know, Halliburton, you know, had some health issues coming back from his injury. The Celtics, while they're up there, I mean, they got a lot of the questions of their own. You know, the Magic haven't been able to break through Cleveland. They're probably standing pat where their roster's at. And basically everyone's saying that that's not the roster that's going to win the championship. So Aaron is right when he said, like, Pat Riley always gets his guy. But I'll tell you, it's been a while since he got a guy. And the criticism out of Miami was when he brought Jimmy Butler in, you were bringing in a great number two, but you needed a number one to compare him with. And they never were able to get the Durant deal. That was always talked about bringing Durant to Miami. Were they going to get Harden at certain points? They never were going to give up the. They never gave up the assets to make the big splash, you know, really, since, you know, the LeBron big three area, they. They're able to get Jimmy and they're expecting somebody else, and they didn't. Now, on the flip side, Pat Riley was notorious for. I want the stars. You know, I'm bringing in the veterans, and I play this and go. But over the last, like seven, eight years, maybe more, they've been about developing guys and turning them into, you know, really good players that have gotten bigger deals elsewhere that may have turned out to be as successful. And so if there's a team out there That I think can kind of gut with a little bit of their roster, which they are getting rid of a lot of guys that have been pretty successful for them and just have Bam, Giannis, maybe p. As you said, and they got to fill in and fill in a bunch of people around them. I think they have the infrastructure to go out and find guys and develop guys during this kind of short window that, hey, we got two guys that are. That are going to be our. Gonna be our staple and how do we fill the pieces around them? I think this is the team to do it. I think Spoelstras continue to be one of the best coaches in the league when. And he's not been given a lot. It's been, hey, we've gotten you Butler and some things around it, but develop Bam, develop hero and some of the other guys pieces. And they've always consistently been kind of in that area. And to think as much as they. [00:35:41] Speaker A: We've. [00:35:42] Speaker C: They haven't been successful. They've been to the NBA Finals twice fairly recently. [00:35:47] Speaker A: Yeah, they have. Yeah. [00:35:48] Speaker B: And so as an agent. Yeah, yeah. I think the bubble and outside of the bubble. [00:35:54] Speaker C: Right? [00:35:54] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:35:55] Speaker C: And so, I mean, they have, they, they've had. There's something there with the team, the organization. You talk about Heat culture and all these different things, and there's been some impatience with, you know, the Miami Heat fan base because they've had success for so much long and they've always gotten the big name and then probably a little bit spoiled during the big 33 era. But now, hey, you got Bam. Yeah. Giannis, what can you put around them? I think people are definitely want to go there. It's an attractive place to be. And as things shake out, I, I agree with you guys. They're probably not a top five team, but I think there's a lot of questions that the other teams have too. And if you would have said like a year ago, you know, people were questioning the Knicks firing their coach and what it was going to be. Was it. Was it going to be enough? I, I think there's a lot of wide open now in the NBA where, man, the last decade has proved there's really not dynasties anymore and so different ways to build the team. You know, the spurs are probably are going to be good again, the Thunder going to be good again, probably the Knicks. But outside of those three teams, are you really scared about anybody else? Because I. The Celtics probably rethinking the way they're doing their strategy because if they can't hit a three Pointer, they're pretty much done. If they go cold or any stretch, they don't have any plan B. The way they're building the roster, they got the Jaylen Brown situation. So I. It's great for Miami because I think as Aaron said, this might be Pat Riley's kind of last stand here. This is going to be the way they. That he kind of closes his chapter and I'm assuming probably hands this thing off to Spoelstra. [00:37:17] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean I think Jason touched on a good point. The Heat developed players, but they haven't been able to keep it. Right. Duncan Robinson goes to Detroit, Matt Struz goes to Cleveland. So we know they can develop players. I think this isn't like, hey, Miami's trying to just win it right now, this year. Obviously they want to, but I think this is like a two or three year window where hey, let's play out what we got. Let's see how the team plays and functions and let's see what pieces we need to add around Giannis and let's see if Giannis can actually stay healthy. Right. I mean we haven't seen him stay healthy. He's been hurt a lot. [00:37:49] Speaker A: Three years. Yeah. [00:37:50] Speaker B: And he's been hurt in the playoffs too. That's kind of what helped Miami get past Milwaukee through those playoff series. And look at the east is open. I mean obviously the Knicks are there, Pacers, Halliburton, what's his health situation, the Achilles, shingles, all that. And then Jason touched on. Coach Bolster is one of the top three or five coaches easily in the NBA. I mean if you pin him in a seven game series, the X's knows that he does. Drawing up game plans. [00:38:17] Speaker A: It's tough to beat the Heat, even [00:38:19] Speaker B: when they were far less talented. Now you give them Giannis, Bam Wiggins as a three man out of five playing defense. That's those guys can play defense and they can rebound. [00:38:31] Speaker A: It could potentially be a pretty big strong defensive team for sure. [00:38:35] Speaker B: Pat Riley doesn't do anything half assed when he goes in. He has a plan. We talked about it. He got shaq, he got LeBron. If we even go back to the 90s, he went out and got Alonzo Mourning. He loves to get big guys that are stars that can win and he knows how to win. And Spolsters bought into the Pat Riley system and guys like that, Pat Riley, Jerry West, Bolster. These guys that just win their whole lives, they might lose for four or five years, but they always find a way to get back to Winning again. So I want to pit it past the Heat to be a champion within the next three years. That's kind of the window I look at. [00:39:07] Speaker A: Yeah. And giannis is only 31, so theoretically, you know, he would have potentially window up to, like, 35, 36, if he gets back to health. But as you know, sometimes guys start getting hurt in that prime 28 year, and then, you know, they never return. So we will see. [00:39:23] Speaker B: Giannis is what I think this. Listen, what's 6:10, but he's like 6:11. So, yeah, big guys. I always worry about big guys that don't have, like, the big muscle frame in our athletic that start to get hurt. How does it. How does the game affect it? [00:39:36] Speaker A: He has a pretty big frame, though. If you remember, when he came to the league, he was pretty scrawny, thin, and he. He made it an effort. He even said he was gonna get stronger and thicker. Then all of a sudden, by year three, year four, this guy's bulked up, man. This guy's put a lot of weight, almost like Tiger woods style. Like, maybe his body is not. Maybe you can hang out with Tiger [00:39:52] Speaker B: woods now that they're back in Florida together now. [00:39:55] Speaker A: Tiger made his first appearance today, I think. [00:39:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:39:59] Speaker A: So. Yeah. Jason. So do you like the trade? I do. [00:40:05] Speaker C: I do. I think for both teams, I think it's time for Giannis to try to do something, you know, else in. In a different market. I. I think the Heat are, you know, they're. They're beyond the Lakers. Are they the most successful franchise since. Since 2000 at this point, when you think about. They've had these kind of different eras. They won the first Dwyane Wade title, the two with LeBron and them. They've gone to two NBA finals since. I mean, that's a good point. [00:40:29] Speaker A: That's a good point. [00:40:30] Speaker B: It is. Spurs, Lakers, Heat. [00:40:32] Speaker A: Right? Yeah. [00:40:33] Speaker B: Basically five years. [00:40:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:40:35] Speaker C: Yes. [00:40:35] Speaker A: So if you want to put the Celtics in there, too, since they've had like a. Like two small runs, like, they've been competitive, but at least they made it to the Finals with. With both iterations. [00:40:44] Speaker B: Yep. [00:40:44] Speaker C: So, I mean, you're talking at least one of the, you know, three, four best teams of the last 25 years and made another run. I mean, they get a superstar. They already got a, you know, a star in Bam. I don't know if he's a superstar, but at this moment, you don't need three anymore. And I think that's the biggest thing where there was this obsession with getting three guys. [00:41:00] Speaker A: Yeah. The pick. [00:41:01] Speaker C: And I think, and I think there's a different thing where it's probably one to two guys and you have this equal dispersion of talent and depth and different rotate like Oklahoma City and a little bit with San Antonio and stuff in different ways to construct these rosters. And, and I do like it. I, I, this, the Bucks. I don't know. I mean, you, you basically have, you know, Giannis is always going to be associated with this team. It's going to be the best player in franchise history. I don't know if they can get any better for them than probably that run over Tyler Hero. I mean, I, Yeah, I think he [00:41:33] Speaker B: had a title there. [00:41:34] Speaker A: Yeah, he did. He won 1. [00:41:35] Speaker B: Okay. 1, 175, whatever year it was. [00:41:38] Speaker A: And then he went to Lakers. [00:41:40] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:41:40] Speaker C: Yeah. I just think there was more for Giannis. Maybe when you think about how long he was there, brought the title and just what his kind of undying loyalty were, he, maybe any other player would maybe have been out five, six years ago when he wasn't winning. But I don't know where they go from here because they're obviously not a team that's going to compete now with making this trade. Tyler Herron, so it's back to his hometown, but he's a free agent after what, after next season or something like that. How many of these? Right. [00:42:09] Speaker A: Yeah, maybe I, you know, like looking at the, Milwaukee, at the Bucs team now, they have like a hodgepodge of players, but it's like a lot of street ballers, so it's, it's pretty interesting. I'm really curious how that's going to turn out. [00:42:20] Speaker B: Well, they're an interesting organization because they're paying what, like three or four coaches? They're still paying Damien Lillard for the next four years to basically like, sit on the sidelines or play for another team. [00:42:30] Speaker A: They do got a good coach now, though. [00:42:33] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I never liked the, the Turner contract. They took him from the Pacers. I never liked that. So they, they've picked up some bad players. And Rome, you mentioned a good name. Bobby Portis is not a guy I would be looking to get rid of. He's a glue guy. He's a tough guy. He's a guy that brings toughness to your team. I think Miami, that was a benefit Miami got. [00:42:54] Speaker A: That's a big pickup. [00:42:55] Speaker B: I think that's a sleeper that we'll look back on and be like, man, Portis can defend, he can rebound, he'll take the hard fouls. He'll do the dirty work for you off the bench. So I think that was a good addition for Miami to pick him up as well. [00:43:08] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll see what other trades develop. I just looked at who the Lakers got, so they just did like a switch route with the Knicks and they got like a pretty good three, three point shooter. Should mesh well with Luka since that's what he wants. [00:43:24] Speaker B: Car right in a Baylor. [00:43:25] Speaker A: Yeah, I like him. I caught a little bit of him, so. But what? Go ahead. [00:43:31] Speaker B: He's a good wing player. He can defend, he's athletic, he can shoot the three. So. Yeah, I mean that. The Lakers need more of those 3D guys. So he fits. He fits him right in there with the athleticism to play in the West. [00:43:40] Speaker A: Yeah. So today's draft man AJ debons says that. Is that how you say his name? [00:43:47] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:48] Speaker A: Goes number one out of BYU to the Wizards. Wizards quietly have like a lot of big names now. And now a rising star with the Bonsta. That's gonna be interesting if they kind of turn around, do like a. A one year wonder thing. I'm gonna keep my eyes on them. I'm really curious what their over under is for the wins, because what they have last year, 12, 13, something like that. Aaron, if you want to look that up while we talk. [00:44:11] Speaker B: Yeah, but I thought they won like 22, but I'm assuming the 17. Rome. They won 17 games last year. [00:44:17] Speaker A: It was definitely in the tens. What is it now? Over under, if you want to look that up. [00:44:21] Speaker B: I doubt that. I doubt that's out yet. [00:44:22] Speaker A: Yeah, I, I imagine it might be set like maybe like at over, under [00:44:27] Speaker B: 30, say probably 28 to 30. [00:44:30] Speaker A: Yeah, I would go on the over on that one, maybe depending on. On what happens throughout the rest of the off season. [00:44:36] Speaker B: Washington's kind of got that fill like the old Weber, Juwan Howard kind of that team that would always get in. It's like a seven or eight. And the Bulls would just knock them out in four and three games and sweep them like, damn, this Wizards team's talented, but they could just. They always ran into the Bulls in the first round. It's like they got no chance. [00:44:53] Speaker A: They. They've collected some players this past year to kind of stop, you know, stashed them away because everyone was hurt. But everyone should be coming back this year healthy. It's kind of interesting. Them and also the Mavericks with Kyrie coming around. So there might be like some changing of the guard here a little bit. Peterson, who was projected to go three or four moves up to Utah. Boozer was projected to go to Utah because he's a good mesh there. Carlos Boozer's son, Cameron, he ends up going to Memphis, which is pretty interesting. Caleb Wilson to the Bulls, Wagler to the Clippers. I think the Clippers should have got that draft pick taken away. Of course, that scandal is not over with yet. That's kind of weird. Mikel Brown Jr. I didn't know too much about him going to Brooklyn Nets. Acuff Jr. Out of Arkansas to the Kings, Flemings to Atlanta. There was an interesting pick here somewhere. I'm trying to. [00:45:51] Speaker B: What? [00:45:51] Speaker A: Morez Johnson Jr. I guess that was a couple. They had a couple Michigan guys that they could have went with. Now Michigan, former head coach, now the new coach at Dallas. Making the jump pretty young. I think we finally confirmed like 48 [00:46:05] Speaker B: years old guy nine. [00:46:07] Speaker A: Yeah, he's only been ahead of Michigan with what, two or three years? Is that it? [00:46:11] Speaker B: Two years before that. [00:46:13] Speaker A: Florida Atlantic or maybe it was another Florida team. [00:46:15] Speaker B: Atlantic, yeah. [00:46:16] Speaker A: Had a great turnaround there. So really quick turnaround. Man rising up almost like a Brad Stevens like meteor rise. So that's really interesting that they took that guy. Other than that, it was pretty guard heavy thoughts on that pick. You said it was interesting, Aaron. [00:46:31] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I think they should [00:46:32] Speaker A: have went with Mara. You think they should have went with Mara instead? Mara. [00:46:38] Speaker B: Mara. Well, look it, because they already have. I mean, Lindenberg's the guy I really like. Well, the warriors got him. I thought that was a great pick for the Warriors. Lindenborg. So that's a great pick for them. I mean, Junior, they got. I mean they still got Derek Lively and the other guy, big guy down there. To me, I would have went and got it like another guard wing player. But you know, they wanted to get some size down there so that probably they're going to move off one of those guys. But Mara, I mean, that was a good pick. But it looks like he's getting traded to the Clippers or. No, he's going to okc. So okc. That's a good pick for them because they needed size for Wimy. Obviously that made the most sense, right? We saw a chest fold up like a folding chair. So you needed to add size. And this guy's actually, you know, this guy can shoot on the perimeter too. He can pass. Good guy there. But yeah, of the Michigan guys, I thought I'm number three on my big board and he went first. So interesting move there by Dallas. I mean, May was in the crowd. He Wasn't even in the draft room for Dallas and I guess had very, very little to say on this draft after getting hired. [00:47:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:47:41] Speaker B: Which, who knows? I mean, if I'm. If I'm taking the job of a team, I want to have some input on the draft. I just don't want to. [00:47:48] Speaker A: They probably talked him, like, who they had already lined up and who they graded, and he's like, yeah, sure, you know, whatever I got. [00:47:54] Speaker B: So that was an interesting pick. I mean, the Clippers, Keaton, Wagler, we talked about that. Rome going five. That was kind of where the draft, everybody started to me, yeah. Out of the guards. I. I Love Darius Acuff Jr. [00:48:07] Speaker A: Okay. [00:48:07] Speaker B: I mean, I think. I think he's a good pick. I mean, we'll see what Sacramento does of him. I guess that's the place people go to die. Nobody watches games there anymore. [00:48:14] Speaker A: I'm a little worried about that one. [00:48:15] Speaker B: Actually terribly ran organization, but Acuff Jr. I think is a star, possibly in his league. Kind of like an Aunt Edwards. Way smaller version, but like an Iverson. This guy can score buckets. He's quick, he's athletic, he's tough. I love Acup Jr. If I was the Clippers, I probably would have taken him, but I think even Brooklyn, I would have taken him over. Brown Jr. I like Brown Jr. Too. Good perimeter scorer. But like I talked about, Jason could probably touch on this, too. Caleb Wilson to the Bulls. Possible. Possible steal of the draft. I mean, people talking about this potential athletic ability he's got and what he could become. Young guy. I really, really like him. North Carolina guy falls into the Bulls laps at number four. You add that with the trade they made with Brooklyn, Thiago Splitter, I think things are looking up for the Bulls, that they are definitely going to be back at least in the play in. In the east where they belong. Should be basically positioned there every year. [00:49:09] Speaker C: Yeah, I deferred you, Aaron, where it's at. But I mean, many people telling me like Caleb was the best player in the. In the draft and, you know, the consensus was he was going to the Bulls at 4. That the first three teams were going to the Passover and they kept talking, you know, experts are saying this is one of the deepest drafts ever. The Bulls were getting this pick at four. I think they got a pick at 15, too. And that, you know, Caleb was going to be one of the best ones. I know it was between, you know, a lot of. Between him and Peterson, I think, as far, you know, throughout the college season. So I Mean, exciting for the Bulls. I mean, we'll see. I, we got new management with Chicago. I think they got a really good, really good coach. We mentioned that in the last pod, so I don't know, man. I don't get my hopes up for the Bulls because they're still owned by the Reinsdorf family. And so I still think there is a lot to be desired with them. So. But we'll see. I think it's exciting time that you're, you're getting a good talent. You know, what else can we do to, to surround him? I think in, in upcoming seasons? Because I, I think the Bulls give us that 41 and 41 play and excitement so. [00:50:07] Speaker A: Well, I like the new coach, so I don't know. Turnaround. [00:50:11] Speaker B: I think Thiago Splitter, given his background, I think he's the right coach and development. I, I really like that. You know, Jason touched on 15. They got swain from Texas. I'm not in love with that pick, but I think it could work out. We'll see, we'll see. I mean, he's a, he's a big, strong wing player. Can he shoot? Can he score? We'll find out. [00:50:32] Speaker C: A reach, they said a little bit of a reach. [00:50:33] Speaker B: I, I believe it is a bit of a reach. Athletic. But we'll see, we'll see how he pans out. We know the Bulls have been known to reach before. I think there were some better players for them to get there. But I do love the pick at number four though. [00:50:49] Speaker A: Round two is tomorrow. Any other surprises from the first round? The draft? A lot of guards. A lot of point guards. [00:50:57] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, we'll see what happens here. You know, San Antonio picked up a big guy. Everybody's kind of high on him, but he didn't play last year because he's coming off a torn acl. And Jaden Quintance out of Kentucky, I guess he transferred from Arizona State. But you know, obviously the tape they show you is always, always going to be good highlights of these guys. But 6, 9, 6 10, add some size to go down there. He's big, he's physical. Kentucky coach was an ex college player, basically said, this is the strongest dude I've ever met in college. So obviously that versatility, height wise will be good. And then I love what Philly did, getting. What's his name, Feedlon at 22. They needed to get some more guards and some speed there after trading McCann away. So I think Philadelphia got a steal out there at 22. That was a good pick for Them. [00:51:44] Speaker A: A lot of people were talking about the Bucs pickup with Braden Burris out of Arizona. Your team, Aaron, he's also from San Bernardino, I think. [00:51:52] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:51:53] Speaker A: A lot of people are up with him. I think he was like one of the few guys with like the best plus and minuses in the country also. Really? [00:51:59] Speaker B: Number three, I believe. [00:52:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. So everything seems he's going to have an immediate impact on. On such a fresh team now. So people were talking about that, trying to see anything else that kind of stuck out in my mind. But I mean, I do like. [00:52:14] Speaker B: I do like Atlanta getting Flemings. He's like a Trey Young. Same size, but a way better defensive player. This dude actually plays defense. [00:52:22] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:52:23] Speaker B: So they get basically Trey Young, but the defensive version of this guy. But this guy can drive. He can shoot pretty good. Not really a ball hog. I. I think it's a good pickup for Atlanta that needed to get more athletic and a point guard in there to go with their veteran guard team since they just signed CJ McCollum to a one year extension. [00:52:41] Speaker A: They did. Yeah. Not. And they're competitive, so it might be good for him. [00:52:46] Speaker B: Dallas is open. The east is open. [00:52:49] Speaker A: Yeah. Brown Celtics with everything that's kind of progressed over the last couple days or so. He was always on the chopping block again for Boston. Does he go somewhere else? A lot of people think he's done in Boston just because of what he's made comments of and, you know, wanting to lead the team by himself. Does Boston make nice? I've heard some criticism where maybe Brad Stevens or maybe maybe that maybe it's coming down for the new ownership group. Like they really want to win now. As you know, Boston was sold to new ownership group this past year and they were kind of like a little hypercritical on how the team performed this year. Of course, they just hit a Philadelphia team that was hitting on all cylinders at the right time for those two, three days and that was the end of it. But they still have a solid team. They didn't have Tatum for most of the year. Criticism about Tatum not being really a 1A guy, maybe a 1B guy and finding someone else to be that 1A guy. But Brown, I heard a rumor maybe like he might be a really good fit for Minnesota. I don't know how he makes it over there. I just don't see it. [00:53:58] Speaker B: But throwing Jaden McDaniels again, I mean, that's. [00:54:02] Speaker A: I would not get rid of McDaniels, dude. He's. He's too young and Too good already. [00:54:08] Speaker B: Honestly, I don't see Brown fitting in with Edwards because they're too much of the same player. Need the ball too much. To me they're both too ball dominant. [00:54:14] Speaker A: Yeah. So where does Brown go? Does he say put? If you're a betting man. [00:54:20] Speaker B: If I'm a betting man, I think he's gonna secretly come out and want to trade here in the next week or so that his agent is gonna leak it out and say he wants out. [00:54:28] Speaker A: Clippers. What? Clippers. Huh. [00:54:33] Speaker B: I like that. [00:54:34] Speaker A: Why Clippers? [00:54:36] Speaker B: They're gonna lose Kawhi, right? Maybe a sign and trade. [00:54:39] Speaker A: Why did we lose Jason? Oh no, I'm here. Black and white. I'm like wait, what happened to Jason? Did like someone just like I like [00:54:51] Speaker B: the team he threw out. So I want to hear is, I want to hear his story on it. [00:54:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah, go ahead. [00:54:55] Speaker C: I, I, I don't know the assets required and what they're looking. I'm guessing it'd probably be more than a three team type of deal for you get to get them. [00:55:02] Speaker A: But Clippers do have assets though and they do. [00:55:06] Speaker C: And I just feel like Ballmer is going to be willing to, to pull the trigger and he wants to win too and he's going to want to star and this guy and Jalen wants to be the guy and so I think they can give him the pay the path. I don't, I got some friends that are Clippers fans. I won't take credit for that. [00:55:21] Speaker B: Okay. [00:55:21] Speaker A: Oh, they were throwing that out. Yeah, dude, I made a comment. [00:55:26] Speaker B: I'll throw another team out. Rome. Now I'm looking at it. I, I like Jason throwing out the Clippers. [00:55:32] Speaker A: Okay. [00:55:33] Speaker B: I'm going to throw out another team, all the different Nuggets and a Murray and some pick swaps for Brown. [00:55:40] Speaker A: That, that might work. That might work. That's interesting because they yawn. [00:55:45] Speaker B: I think, I think Joker and him, I could see that working pretty well actually. And they, I've heard they might even move off Aaron Gordon. I don't know if his contracts up or what but you know they got Murray because what really Boston needs, I mean I like Brown and Tatum working together but they need like a true holiday. They need another point guard there to run the show. They don't have that right now and that really hurt their team last year. I mean Derrick White, he's, he's getting older, still can play defense but his shot disappeared. To me they need a floor general and point guard. So if you're Boston, if you're Gonna move Brown. You could look at the Clippers, maybe do a sign and trade or something with Kawhi or something. That way, you know, maybe Ballmer can kind of wipe his hands of the clean of that slate. I don't know if Boston wants that smoke or not. I mean, they're. They've already got problems with Brown. Why would you want to have problems with Leonard's camp? But I think Denver. Denver Clippers. So that would be. I like that as a one twos right now, maybe a third team gets in the mix, but I think both of the teams we gave out would be interesting places for Brown to end up. [00:56:49] Speaker C: Was there any world where the Bulls had the assets to do it? [00:56:52] Speaker B: Aaron? I was thinking about it. I was thinking about that. Yeah. [00:56:57] Speaker C: I just don't know what they'd have to willing. I mean, because Boston's gonna want somebody that's gonna help them [00:57:04] Speaker B: giddy. [00:57:04] Speaker A: Right? [00:57:04] Speaker B: He'd have to be involved. [00:57:06] Speaker C: Yep. [00:57:07] Speaker A: I'm trying to find a tweet that I commented on, but I can't find it. I don't know how to. [00:57:11] Speaker B: We might as well throw the tweets out. That mean. Jason, we got. We got Clippers and Nuggets, the front runners for Jalen Brown sweepstakes. Now before the ringer calls up and tries to take our. [00:57:23] Speaker A: The Rinker man. I. I think Bill Simmons is on some weed or something like that. He's been throwing out some outrageous claims lately. [00:57:30] Speaker C: He's been on it. Your guy's been on a hot streak ever since he proclaimed limitless number 15 best movie since the year 2000, bro. [00:57:37] Speaker A: I can't believe that. Although I do like it. It's just. It's not that kind of movie. It's not. It's not number 15. [00:57:43] Speaker C: Well, it was. It was. To be fair to him, it wasn't like his best movie. It was like his most rewatchable, like, movies or whatever he's done in the last Whatever years. I think it was a solid list. [00:57:53] Speaker A: I can't watch the movie anytime. I can watch it, but when I watch it, I feel like I'm on drugs sometimes. So I can't just, like, put it [00:57:59] Speaker B: on Saturday after you're on drugs run. To watch that movie, you gotta be. [00:58:02] Speaker A: You gotta be like, I just feel like I'm on. I'm high on something like. Like someone just put on some Colombian powder in front of my face, and I'm all depressed. [00:58:09] Speaker B: Like, Colombian 10 lead right now. [00:58:11] Speaker A: I know I saw it. [00:58:12] Speaker B: It might be flying in the advance Here, here in the next five minutes. [00:58:17] Speaker A: Oh, dude, I missed the goal. I've been watching the game the whole time. I. [00:58:21] Speaker B: Son of a. I looked up about five minutes ago. I saw it. I'm trying to go to 92 in my world cup picks, man. Jason should have called me, man. I got, I got, I got the winners here, man. I got. [00:58:31] Speaker C: I, I regret it, man. I was going off of vibes and everything over there, just trying to, you know, take some winners. But it's hard to describe tweets in a podcast for him, but there was. There was a tweet about. There was a tweet about if the hydration breaks were around during the Maradona era. [00:58:48] Speaker A: And it was just like, oh, my God. [00:58:51] Speaker C: Going up against white powder on the side. [00:58:53] Speaker A: Oh, my God. For sure, for sure, [00:58:58] Speaker B: for sure. [00:58:58] Speaker A: 100. There is some funny tweet tweets about. I saw the Americans. They had pictures with them having beers and hot dogs. Hydration breaks. [00:59:07] Speaker C: Yeah, there's crazy. I'll. I'll give it. As the, the entertaining as the games have been for the World Cup, I think the, this social media stuff of just everything involved with the World cup has been great stuff. [00:59:18] Speaker A: Oh, man, they got close to equalizing it right now. Guadalajara, that's a fun city. I gotta go back. Oh, that was close. All right, Final comments on NBA draft. Any other news? I read some stuff. [00:59:35] Speaker C: Comments. Well, we don't have. [00:59:39] Speaker A: Back it up now. Hamilton all the way. [00:59:41] Speaker C: Now, before we get into that, we didn't have an actual F1 race rumble. We did have former F1 driver Kevin Magnuson driving a little NASCAR this weekend down in San Diego. I don't know if you. You saw that. [00:59:53] Speaker A: I, I saw a tweet about it, but I didn't know who that was, so it was gonna be awesome. Yeah. [00:59:58] Speaker C: Kevin Magnuson, former. Former Haas driver who was known for, you know, some aggressive driving in there in the Formula one. He debuted in NASCAR for a one race kind of deal with Front Row Motorsports. You know, they, they bring in open wheel time guys in NASCAR when they do the road courses or street circus. And they were doing this really cool race down in San Diego right at like the naval base and stuff, which was, you know, aesthetically was good. It was a pretty good race. But the, the biggest controversy with Kevin Magnuson just spun out. Noah Gregson. And they got kind of into a little bit of. A little bit of heated, heated debate over each other and there was some F bombs flying back and forth between these two guys. And so, yeah, it was an interesting foray for Kevin Magnuson into the, into the stock car realm after being open wheels. [01:00:45] Speaker A: I dig that, dude. Hell yeah. So, but there's a race in Sonoma this weekend. [01:00:50] Speaker C: Yeah, this weekend. [01:00:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:00:52] Speaker C: NASCAR. We had IndyCar at one of my favorite tracks up in Wisconsin at Elkhart Lake at Road of America. That was Christian Lungarn from the arrow McLaren team won that. Alex Palo, that was another bet I lost. I'm gonna say, by the way, Alex Palo should have been a lock on the pole and the guy gets a speeding penalty. Terrible, just terrible. [01:01:10] Speaker B: But sometimes you got to wonder if those speeding penalties are rigged, fixed. But gotta look. [01:01:15] Speaker C: I mean they, they didn't have the F1 officials at Monaco so you know, speeding penalties because their sensors wrong. [01:01:22] Speaker B: So yeah, well they gave, they, they drew one of them. [01:01:25] Speaker C: So yeah, that's, that's a whole thing. But yeah, Ferrari back in Hamilton. Roman, we talked about it. We'll go into Austria here this weekend. But I, I, it seems like Hamilton's got the pulse on the team right now and, and exactly what needs to be the car. And LeClaire's kind of taking a back seat a little bit. [01:01:41] Speaker A: I kind of want to bet on Hamilton right now to take the driver's championship away. [01:01:47] Speaker B: I win driver's championship. [01:01:49] Speaker A: I do. I do actually. [01:01:50] Speaker B: Wow. [01:01:51] Speaker C: I, I agree with Rod something. There is something here with the reliability of the Ferrari or that first is the reliability of the Mercedes. [01:02:00] Speaker A: These upcoming tracks too, I think they favor the Ferrari car a little bit and, and I like them to take away some victories away. And I expect George Russell to get at least a couple wins too down the stretch to kind of dig into Antonelli. I don't know. We'll see. [01:02:17] Speaker C: This is again, Antonelli was not great. It was a one year sample size. But I mentioned in the previous pods wasn't great in the European, you know, portion of the schedule. So you have the next for the couple of months doing all these tracks. George theoretically should be better than Antonelli. But Lewis dominant a bunch of these tracks, hasn't been great in Austria. I think he has two career wins in Austria at the Red Bull ring coming up. But then you get into Silverstone and I mean Lewis is the all time winner. That is his track. He'll be out for something to prove that day. So there Rome. It's not a bad bet. I, I, you think a year ago you had McLaren's dueling in Verstappen out of nowhere, you know, unfazed by what his teammates doing, able to rise through. Do you have Antonelli and Russell going at it and Lewis now kind of a little bit unchallenged from Charles, and all of a sudden he's the third guy poking his nose here at a championship. Like, you know, you look, you, it's [01:03:09] Speaker A: them three on top, you know, and there's like a little bit of gap. [01:03:13] Speaker B: I think Lewis, I think he's peeking a little too early. Right. Max was kind of like towards the back nine here. Lewis is kind of showing himself early. I mean, Hamilton, if you want him this week, Rome, he's plus 405 to win the race or the champions race this week in Austria. Kimmy's +172. [01:03:32] Speaker A: I'm supposed to be going on podcast to give some F1 odds. So you guys want to give me. [01:03:40] Speaker C: Rome's going on other pods posing as the F1 expert is what I just heard right now. [01:03:44] Speaker A: They watch you on. I just don't know if you guys are available at 9:30 in the morning. [01:03:49] Speaker B: Every. Everybody wants us on this B team. Rome, the B team is hot right now. That's the trend. [01:03:55] Speaker A: I'd rather have Jason go on and promote the show than, you know, yeah, ask a question. F1. And none of these guys know F1. So I'm just like, yeah, dude, this is great. I am the expert on this show. [01:04:06] Speaker C: 9:30. [01:04:06] Speaker A: He pronounced Charles Leclerc on the pod. I was like, well, Leclaire, you know, [01:04:14] Speaker B: Charles Leclaire's plus 635 with the fourth best odds, I believe. [01:04:21] Speaker A: Yes. [01:04:22] Speaker C: I, I think that you got a lot of, you got a lot of open this room. I don't, I don't, I don't disagree on the Lewis Hamilton take. I think there isn't it, there is an opportunity here for him to steal this championship from Mercedes. So I, I'm not, I'm not mad [01:04:34] Speaker A: at that at all. [01:04:35] Speaker C: I, I, I think it's property. I, I just feel so bad for George Russell, man. I'm probably gonna be saying for the rest of this season. I felt this was his championship to win. And right now, I think he's the third man. I think you're coming down to a Lewis versus Kimi duel here. [01:04:48] Speaker A: At a certain point, his mental just looks a little shot a little too early. There's so much season left and this guy's just so down at the dumps on himself. It's just, it's just kind of sad. [01:04:59] Speaker C: It is. And I, I think that's a, it's obviously individual sport. You Think about golfers who just like mentally it gets there. [01:05:05] Speaker A: But. [01:05:05] Speaker C: But you look at Piastri last year and he basically gave the championship away because there were, you know, just the mental game that was going on kind of with him and you know, where things were at and ultimately kind of lost in the championship down to a razor thin majority. Like a lot of these results get adding up. The reliability aspect of the Mercedes I think is the. Is probably, I would say the biggest worry because between Mercedes McLaren and all the Mercedes engines, I. I don't know. They've all. They've all kind of lost races to that. Ferrari has not yet. They've been, you know, at least for Lewis they. That the. The Charles being out, I don't think was a reliability as much as, you know, some of the other things going on with the car. But just finishing races, I think Lewis can see your points are crawling back some of this lead and it's going to be pretty competitive going down that final stretch and then who knows what could happen. [01:05:54] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, yeah, Hamilton is going to be in the running for this thing for sure. The power unit for Mercedes. I'm, I'm. I would bet more than anything at least one of one or two more times one of them's gonna go out from the power unit failing. So that's almost a guarantee. That's an easy prop bet if it's out there. [01:06:11] Speaker A: I think you get bet on Kashi on that stuff. [01:06:14] Speaker B: Yeah, that might be race the race if you can find for the rest of the season. I would say that at least they're gonna go out again. One more time. [01:06:20] Speaker A: One of my friends though, when I went to the Qatar Swiss game, we [01:06:27] Speaker B: were at the bar take you to the Qatar race. Their Grand Prix. Rome. [01:06:32] Speaker C: Yeah, Grand Prix right there. [01:06:34] Speaker B: And December Rome. Little Christmas gift for you. [01:06:37] Speaker A: He has a lot of connections. [01:06:39] Speaker C: That flight might be a little more expensive than the Seattle flight. Just saying. [01:06:42] Speaker A: But I'll do whatever the hell they tell me to do. I don't give a shit. I'll convert right now. [01:06:46] Speaker B: What happens on Qatar Airlines, hey. Stays on guitar. [01:06:49] Speaker A: I was at the game, I was like. I was like, I will convert right now if I can marry one of these beautiful Islamic girls. And they. They just all started laughing. [01:06:58] Speaker B: I think Wesley would like one too. Someone to actually take care of them when you're gone. [01:07:04] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. I'm not a good dog owner, man. I'm definitely not the best. [01:07:08] Speaker C: We'll go into this one last form. Just Formula One aspect, I would say. We'll Talk a ton more about this. Ferrari put a lot of new things. They had a bunch of development stuff get put on the car, you know, going into the last, you know, couple races. [01:07:21] Speaker A: So, yeah, I was reading about that. [01:07:22] Speaker C: You haven't heard. We haven't heard much from Mercedes and McLaren and kind of where they're going. So, like every season it's going to be about the development and team and what they add and the effectiveness of what they add too. But I. Ferrari's got a lot of game to grow out of ground in their development over the past, you know, month or so. You know, what does Mercedes have in the hopper, you know, Potentially, what does McLaren have in the hopper to kind of mix things up and go for some, you know, some podiums and wins as well, too. So I think there's a lot of unknowns in this season being year one of what you could actually get out of this car. So I think there's some X factors in it. But I, But I'm. I'm leaning with Jerome, like, I'm. We talking those pods with Andrew, man, you got a bunch of Lewis Hamilton, you know, fans here. They're going to be Ryer and I and like, think. And seeing him win the 8th World Championship in a Ferrari in the Ferrari [01:08:06] Speaker A: red leg, that'd be pretty awesome. [01:08:09] Speaker C: So, I mean, go ahead. I would say you compare it. I mean, he's got all these championships. [01:08:14] Speaker A: I don't. [01:08:15] Speaker C: It's not a direct comparison, but you think about Jalen Brunson right now winning this championship for the New York Knicks. He's a made man with the one. And I think the. The Ferrari one championship just for Lewis versus his one with McLaren and his six with Mercedes, like, it cements him in a different class of legacy because the Ferrari brand, like Ferrari is Formula one. If you ask anyone who doesn't know anything about Formula one, you know about Ferrari. It's the only team that's been there every season of the 51 years of. Or, you know, whatever years of the championship. And this is. This is like, basically like the royalty of the brand this for. And it's getting Ferrari back on top because you think about a team that hasn't won since Schumacher. [01:08:54] Speaker B: You're. [01:08:54] Speaker C: You're ending this long draft where it kids. And I think, yep, you know, if [01:09:00] Speaker A: they're able to win, that'd be pretty amazing. He would be like the LeBron James F1. But actually in the goat conversation, because we all know that goats don't actually talk themselves, talk about themselves being the Goat. Like Lionel Messi. Like Michael Jordan. Like others. [01:09:15] Speaker B: So you guys. So you guys know you both have Hamilton winning this thing? Is that what I'm hearing? [01:09:20] Speaker A: So dude, what are the odds right now? What are the odds I want to hear? [01:09:23] Speaker B: I don't know. But I'll do it friendly. I'll. I'll take. I'll take Team Mercedes and you guys can have Hamilton and let's do something. Let's go. I mean Jason's been losing so I gotta. I gotta jump on this. [01:09:32] Speaker A: Why? [01:09:33] Speaker B: He's losing right now. [01:09:34] Speaker A: Wait, is that carrying over the baseball team too? [01:09:39] Speaker B: It's getting tighter. It's getting. Oh really? [01:09:42] Speaker A: That's an interesting laugh. God damn. [01:09:45] Speaker C: We've had. We've had some unfortunate injuries. Rome we lost Mike Soroka this week. I had to put on the il. Still got O. Neo Cruz in the il so I will. Aaron's not wrong. It is getting tighter. But I maintain. [01:09:59] Speaker B: I think Jason will still win it. But like I said it's. It's not going to be a cakewalk. It's going to get tight. It's going to get tight, man. [01:10:06] Speaker C: I've been honest about that from the beginning. But I'm still at around nine. I'm still at 90 points. I still got a 16 or 18 point lead on it. So you know what, it's gonna get tight though. It's not. It's not lying. So the commissional falling fast. If you looked at him, he was. He was my. [01:10:21] Speaker B: Yeah, he was my competitor today. He was not a good spirit today at the meeting. [01:10:24] Speaker C: Okay. Okay. Yeah. I. I bowed out of the meeting today. Rum. [01:10:27] Speaker B: We didn't have any rosters but basically he was like. He made a 50 move and he's like. I got like five guys that'll be on the IO tomorrow. But they're not on the IO so I can't make any moves today. So. Yeah, they'll all be on the IO tomorrow. Yeah. Let's do a friendly wager, man. Let's do. Let's do dinner somewhere or what else? You could lose or buy his dinner, man. [01:10:45] Speaker C: Wait, so you're trying to take both Mercedes drivers and we get Lewis. That's what the bet is here. [01:10:51] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll take. I'll take Mercedes to win over Hamilton. [01:10:56] Speaker C: Well, I think it's two separate things because I still think Mercedes is winning the Constructors Championship. [01:11:00] Speaker B: Yeah, well, the driver's championship. I'll say one of the two Mercedes guys is going to win. [01:11:04] Speaker A: Okay. [01:11:05] Speaker B: Okay. [01:11:05] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:11:06] Speaker C: All right. That's fair. I I will. I will do. I will do. [01:11:08] Speaker B: I mean, I agree. Mercedes is going to win the constructors. Yeah, I'm not. [01:11:11] Speaker A: That's not even a fair wager. [01:11:13] Speaker B: I wouldn't waste your time with that. [01:11:16] Speaker A: Granted, something happens in the second half. Yeah, but I was a nice goal. Okay, real quick before we go, the NFL got rid of the supplemental draft. Sworesby is out. I actually like that move. I didn't know they could do that, but I guess they haven't had a supplemental draft in like, since 28 years. [01:11:36] Speaker B: I think they said. Yeah, yeah. [01:11:37] Speaker A: And the response from the NFL, dude, just beautifully written. They're like, hey, you had a chance to sign up for the NFL a long time ago and you didn't. You want to go back to go play college football even though the NCAA said that you gambled and you took no accountability. And once that didn't look good because more, you know, court intervention was coming to play. That's when you come to us. Sorry, bro. Go back and work on yourself. Take accountability. It's a privilege to be in the NFL. Maybe we see you next year in the 2027 NFL Draft. Now, his only option might be the Canadian Football League if that. If they let him in. It is pretty crazy turn of events for this guy who just had a judge with an injunction to allow him to play for Texas Tech this year. The whole Big 12 saying, no, fuck you, we're going to do a lawsuit. Which they did. And it's still active right now. And then so he bounces like, I actually like the move. It's kind of like learning lesson. [01:12:35] Speaker B: I agree with you. Rome too. I mean, it looks like the Canadian Football League, but I want to give him an open invitation. You know, we do the circa football contest. We do the Westgate college football contest. Hey, if he wants to join us as a partner group on there too, hey, we'll take a fourth leg. We'll take a fourth leg. Source B. There's an open invitation if you want in on the action. [01:12:53] Speaker A: I might have to clip that, actually. That's hilarious. I might have to put that out there. That is funny. [01:12:59] Speaker B: Just I'm throwing the option on the table, right? You're taking a year off. Come. You know, college football, seven picks a week. We can go, you know, two, two, two, one. Whatever. We got to go, man. [01:13:10] Speaker A: Jason, [01:13:13] Speaker C: I don't know. You want me to follow that up? I don't know. I think he's gonna try to play somewhere, but I. I would assume, you know, Aaron said Canada, but, you know, I. It's a good option. We were pretty good the first half of the year. He could help us the second half of the year. From the the West. [01:13:28] Speaker A: The last three weeks, [01:13:32] Speaker B: top 5%, 8% there. That first eight weeks we were top 3%. [01:13:36] Speaker A: At one point I think it was like six or seven. Yeah. [01:13:39] Speaker B: So we still. You guys still down to do that again this year? [01:13:42] Speaker A: 100. [01:13:43] Speaker B: All right. [01:13:44] Speaker C: Yeah, I just need Rome to just be a little more like locked in here. [01:13:47] Speaker B: Well, that's why we're bringing the sources, we're bringing the insider. [01:13:49] Speaker A: Me, I did pretty well. [01:13:52] Speaker B: You went on a bad run for about three weeks. You went on some runs, seven and one for like a good job of [01:13:57] Speaker C: the Wire, like right before, like Aaron needs to submit the picks. And you're like, hey, yeah, man. You're like, we weren't even getting the picks done. And then I question your research going into those picks. I'm just saying, you know, you're a busy man, you know, head of the podcast, CEO of everything. We know. We just. But you know, you gotta get the picks in, Rob. [01:14:16] Speaker B: Yeah, you gotta. Basically you should text your picks before you're on the road driving. Because then once you're driving, it's like you're in different. You're like in a different headspace. Well, they'll probably hear like, hey, I want Arizona State. Oh, wait, I think I want Nebraska. Did somebody already take Miami? So yeah, Jason already has Miami this week. [01:14:34] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, all right. Well, yeah, we'll see how it goes. All right, that'll do it then. We covered a lot. [01:14:42] Speaker B: Since you're on, since you're on other shows getting, giving advice. Maybe you could get some advice from them on some games. Throw some games out there too. You know, you give them the F1, they can throw you back some college football games. They like, you know, Sniper West. Probably good for at least one lock a week. In college football you can piggyback off them. [01:14:57] Speaker A: He has some locks. I just know when I don't like other guys picks and I and I went against him a few. Felt good coming out victorious. It was nice. [01:15:07] Speaker B: Win and lose in this game, Rome. [01:15:08] Speaker A: Win and lose 100%. All right, so NBA drafted the Bucks trades. We'll see what else happens. Baseball, we still got to talk baseball drama with the Giants. Dodgers first to win 50. Jason's White Sox have an unbelievable season. [01:15:28] Speaker C: First place, Chicago White Sox. [01:15:30] Speaker A: I think Aaron's Braves rocked a little bit this past few weeks. [01:15:33] Speaker B: Still got an eight game lead. Rome, I still haven't been to a [01:15:36] Speaker A: game yet this year. So I gotta get that cracking. [01:15:39] Speaker B: Six, six right now. Braves, Padres, down at the Petco. [01:15:43] Speaker C: You haven't been to a game? I've seen the White Sox in three different states. [01:15:46] Speaker A: Well, I did meet a cute girl this past Thursday and. And she was an Oakland Ace fan. Maybe I can go to a game with her. She's an athletic trainer at one of [01:15:55] Speaker B: these, well, semi pro leagues. You can take her, she can take you to Vegas when the new stadium gets ready down there. [01:16:00] Speaker A: It'd be kind of cool, actually. She could probably kick my ass. This girl is really fit. I don't know. I have to second this. I got this one. [01:16:08] Speaker B: We already injured. Anyways, Rome, you're on disability. [01:16:10] Speaker A: So I've been working out, man. I'm gonna be strong, but. But struggling to. [01:16:16] Speaker B: I don't know, Rome. We'll see. We'll see in like eight weeks when it's circle body comes out. [01:16:20] Speaker A: We'll see where you're at, dude. [01:16:21] Speaker B: That's what I'll be the real judgment test. [01:16:23] Speaker A: My abs are gonna be back this fucking. So I don't know. [01:16:25] Speaker B: I don't know if Jason's coming, making the trip of us this time, but. [01:16:28] Speaker A: Yeah, you gotta if he's available. [01:16:31] Speaker B: It's a work trim on down, man. [01:16:33] Speaker C: It's a work trip. [01:16:35] Speaker B: It is partially. Work trip. [01:16:37] Speaker C: Got a work trip. He's got to give me a sniper West's pod to give the actual Formula one breakdowns for him. [01:16:43] Speaker A: Dude, they go too fast, man. It's just like pick, pick, pick, pick, pick. [01:16:47] Speaker B: Here. [01:16:48] Speaker A: You got 30 seconds. [01:16:48] Speaker B: What's your pick? Pick, pick. [01:16:50] Speaker A: I'm like, holy shit, pods. Over. It's nuts, man. [01:16:53] Speaker C: Just giving winners, you know, I did [01:16:56] Speaker A: give some solid winners for the last one. I feel pretty good about it, so. All right, that'll do it. Source from the sofa. Catch us maybe later in the week, maybe next week's. Maybe Sunday, Thursday, maybe after F1. [01:17:13] Speaker B: What? [01:17:13] Speaker A: What time's the race on Sunday? [01:17:15] Speaker B: 6am Right? [01:17:17] Speaker A: 6am 6am I'll try to get Andrew back on. I think he's drinking a pina colada somewhere. [01:17:24] Speaker C: Hey, we get. If we could do it. You tell you, you want to do a 9:30 pod like Sniper West. We can do 9:30 Sunday morning Rome, you know, fresh out there, ready to go. [01:17:32] Speaker A: Sunlight and I wouldn't mind actually. That might be actually better for me, man. [01:17:36] Speaker C: We can just do a recap right there. [01:17:38] Speaker A: That'd be kind of cool. I don't know. Yeah, maybe. Let's do it. We are out.
